Tripping, apparently over her own feet, Lori laughed at herself before apologizing to the second year kid whose shoulder she had used to keep herself from face planting. Stooping to help them pick up their books her hand smeared right into the piece of chewing gum that had popped out of their mouth when she startled them, a grimace immediately coming onto her lips. Her lesson for the day was obviously that she needed to pay more attention to things. That particular one seemed to come and go with her often. Lorana was such an easy-going girl, she had tons of quirks about her and was usually found lovable for it, kind of like that cute puppy that was so dumb you just had to find it cuddly. It wasn’t so much that Lori was stupid, just that she could be awfully ditzy from time to time.
Maybe that was why she had learned to let things roll off of her back and had such a great sense of humor about herself. While others spent so much time and effort trying to be perfect Lori adored her imperfections and the imperfections of other believing that it was those things that made them unique, that made them special and to be admired. As the kid went on gushing about how sorry she was that Lorana had stuck her hand in the spit ridden piece of chewed up bubble gum probably fearing that Lori’s good mood would go away and she might bully the youngster, instead she just lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. ”No big deal. The bathroom is right there.” Sure, it was Moaning Mrytle’s bathroom and even today students- and teachers- tended to avoid it, but Lorana didn’t mind. She just figured Mrytle was lonely or something.
Giving the young girl a small wave Lori disappeared into the girl’s bathroom doing her best not to instinctually wipe her hand on her skirt in that exact moment to rid herself of the stranger’s germs. She was expecting to have Mrytle come out at her wailing something or other about how someone previous to Lorana had been mean and expected the same thing from her but there wasn’t even so much as a gurgle from the pipes. Going over to the washbasins Lori thoroughly washed her hands scrubbing away at the vigorously only to hear, a moment later, protests from an individual as they were shoved into the bathroom against their will. Looking over at them Lorana flashed an encouraging smile. ”I wouldn’t worry. It doesn’t look like Mrytle is around at the moment.”

Dare was a little out of it today – a little off his game. It’d dawned on him last night that the Easter break was coming up and he really didn’t like that idea. Going home always threw him. Some people picked up on it – he was easily distracted and quieter than usual. He would start chewing his nails or bottom lip a lot more too. Nervous habits really, and they always gave away when he was freaking out. He hadn’t slept much at all last night, so not only was he distracted by a million scenarios running through his head, but he was tired too. Thankfully he was yet to fall asleep in a class; the idea of that terrified him, especially if he started dreaming. Oh god…what if he started dreaming? He didn’t want to bring that sort of attention on to himself. Sure, he enjoyed people paying attention to him, but only a certain kind of attention would do.
He didn’t even notice when he bumped in to someone – whoever they were, they were bigger than him and probably older. The older wasn’t guaranteed though, he was hardly the most mature or biggest sixth year student going. He mumbled out an apology only to get pushed back against a wall. There was a dull thud when he stumbled back against a wall and knocked his head. It wasn’t hard, but it was enough for people to take notice. Maybe he shouldn’t be so nice, since apparently he inspired the need to defend him in a good four or five people. Shaking his head, he waved them off, but it didn’t really break up until one of the professors stepped in. There was no way in hell he wanted to talk to anyone today, so in the confusion he slipped away and headed off in god knows what direction. All he knew was it was getting quieter and quieter which could only be a good thing.
It wasn’t though – apparently he was just around the corner from something worse. Blood purists. They hated him – he was the epitome of what they hated near enough. Part werewolf and a halfblood to top, Not only that but he was clearly far from the top of the social class. Maybe it was the worn down hems or that he never seemed to have the right clothes for the weather, but you could just tell with him. It only got worse when you stuck him next to them. More money than sense and a habit of wearing their wealth for all to see. They made him sick and hecouldn’t help snapping when they baited him. He wouldn’t be able to recall the conversation later, just that gleam in their eyes and the taste of blood as he hit the floor, only to be interrupted by someone else.
Standing up, he touched his mouth and pulled away a red tint. Swallowing the growing sickness, he put two and two together to figure out he’d split his lip open. God damn it – why him? Why the hell did this have to happen to him? Blinking away the rising tears away, he shook his head and stumbled over to the sink to wash it away. God, he hated this place at times. Still – it was better than the alternative. Looking up at the person who had spoken, he tried to rack his brain for a name but found himself drawing a blank. Well this was just great, wasn’t it? ”Silver lining I guess then.” Turning back to the sink, he sniffed and turned the water off, drying his hands.

Lorana was a friendly person, she didn’t like to judge people right off the bat or think any less of them because of who they were. After all that would be slightly hypocritical considering whom her father was. If people relied on that then by all right shouldn’t she have been seem as some pompous Hufflepuff who thought they were better than others? While Lori didn’t view her father that way herself she knew that some did. Looking over at the boy who had entered he did look familiar, but only as familiar as a person that you never had carried on a conversation with yet had seen around for six years could be. Putting a name to the face was impossible for her in this particular case. However, Lori had never needed to know someone’s name in order for her to show concern.
Upon closer inspection she noticed the busted lip, setting a frown on her features in an instant. Maybe it wasn’t any of her business. There was the possibility that he would tell her to buzz off and leave him alone, but regardless of how he might react Lorana still did what she always did when something like this presented itself. Approaching the boy, she braced a hand on the edge of the sink offering him a much softer smile. ”Are you going to be alright?” It wasn’t that she didn’t think he was perfectly capable of taking a hit or anything like that, it was just that Lori didn’t think he should have had to in the first place.
She liked to think that she was a good judge of character and nothing about this boy jumped out at her saying that he was bad news. That wasn’t to say that she hadn’t ever been wrong though. It wasn’t any of her business, she knew that already, but she also knew that people usually didn’t talk about things unless they were asked about them. It had something to do with not wanting to make other people feel burdened by the problems going on in your life, or something like that. Lorana didn’t mind being that sympathetic ear though, so was more than willing to risk being called nosey or any other negative thing that sprung up as a result of it. ”What happened to you anyway?” Maybe it wasn’t the best way to break the ice, or make a new friend, but Lorana had always been a little bit unorthodox.

Ivan just happened to be wandering nearby when all of a sudden he heard a familiar voice, but he really paid no mind to it at first. Suddenly he got a different idea at the same time, and if it was Lorana, well he was definitely going to be the first one to get to her either way. Putting on a confident smirk as he rounded the corner, but started to frown as he saw the guy fall almost on purpose it looked like. Well, from Ivan saw, it had looked like it had been intentional, but he wasn't one to judge. Finally, someone worth getting to know, aside from Lorana, because he knew her pretty well. It was about time he had some quality bonding time with her again.
Perhaps another time for that, but right now he was in a joking mood as he pulled out some of those firecrackers to start up some fun. Not pulling anything just yet since he didn't want to scare Lorana or anything, but he wanted her to notice him entering the area. Whatever he could do to help keep her attention on him, and that was just being clingy. So to stop himself from doing that, he had another plan as well. Ivan normally didn't make so many plans on the spot, but one had to improvise when dealing with a genius at times.
"Oh hey, Lorana, who's this?" he asked calmly, and walked up beside her as he merely placed an arm around her waist for just a minute. Then he removed it realizing they were in public while he shoved back some of his messy hair. What a nuisance this was getting to be, but he had plans to keep it on the down low in case anyone asked about them. Last thing Ivan wanted was for Lorana to feel uncomfortable with him around now.

Was he going to be alright? God this girl seriously knew nothing. Or, maybe she just didn’t know him. It wasn’t a secret that he bounced back from pretty much everything thrown at him (apart from maybe heights) and they probably assumed it was down to being Seyton’s brother. It was complete bull though – Sey didn’t have a clue about most of his injuries; Dare had learnt to take of most of them himself one way or another over the years. Of course, if anything major were to happen, a professional eye would be able to spot his botch jobs a mile off. There was the odd patch of discoloured skin here, a slightly out ankle there and then odd scars in strange places. They all told a story he either would not or could not tell.
“I’ll be fine; it’s not like I don’t know how to take a hit.” he spoke, voice thick with some unreadable emotion. Echo would be able to tell you in a heartbeat – he was in a foul mood, but not aggressive or nasty. His mood what just…very, very negative. If anyone had the first clue though, they’d know why right away. Turning around, he stared up at the ceiling and leant against the sinks. The first swallow was incredibly coppery and he knew he’d have to do something about it before Sey spotted it. He liked to avoid the medical wing where possible, though it wasn’t always possible. Especially when teachers got involved. “Not the first time, doubt it’ll be the last.” He sighed, frowning a little and trying to count the spider webs. If it could distract him, then he would make it distract him.
He let out a small sigh, though you wouldn’t hear it – just see the swell and rise of his chest when he tilted his head back. “Blood purists really don’t like me.” Turning back to the sink, he turned the tap back on and try to wash it away again. All he could taste was blood and it was driving him insane. He hated it when this happened. ”They don’t really like any of us.” His voice was softer, distracted by the memory of taunts and names. Mongrel was common, beast another he heard on occasion. As much progress as had been made, there were still miles and miles to go before it was even close to tolerant. Wizarding society was the worst.
Another voice broke in to his little world and he looked over – he had no idea who it was, but he had his arm around the girl. A boyfriend maybe? And apparently someone else who didn’t have the first clue who he was, unless they were being sarcastic of course. “Dareious.” His tone was bitter, the name almost spat out. It wasn’t like there were many people with his name around. Sometime he resented it. It was far too obvious just what he was. In his current state of mind, he was half expecting them to step back or leave all together – he wouldn’t blame them if he did. He’d walk away from him if he could. He wished his name had never been changed, he wished he’d never been anything other than a Breeze. But then again…he would have never known Echo. Echo was the only one who really made any of this worth it – she was still so innocent. He would do anything to protect her – he’d only seen a fraction of this stupid war between Seyton and Fenrir and he was sick of it already. He didn’t want them mixing her up in it.

Maybe it hadn’t been the brightest question out there. When a person was hurt they usually weren’t in a chipper mood about things and it was showing in the boy before her. It wasn’t that he was being rude or mean- anything of that sort, but there seemed to be a general annoyance lingering around him at, she could only guess, the circumstances that he had just been through. The way that he stood, the vibe of his body language all told its own story, of which Lori did very little to read into because it wasn’t any of her business. The only thing she really wanted to know was whether or not he would, eventually, be okay and maybe- if it wasn’t over stepping any boundaries- what she could do to help.
Lorana hadn’t meant to imply that he wasn’t able to take a hit, or that he wasn’t perfectly capable of taking care of himself. He didn’t seem happy about her asking but Lori couldn’t think of much a reason why he would. She took that in stride figuring that whatever had his wand in a knot wasn’t her inquires but rather that there had been something to inquire about in the first place. That could have been potentially pretentious assuming that it wasn’t her that was the problem, but there it was. With that next comment though Lori could only imagine that it couldn’t be easy always being a target for others. That sort of thing was usually what got her into the most trouble. She couldn’t stand seeing someone mistreated just because they were different, or for any reason for that matter. Why couldn’t she have stumbled across this boy before he got injured, maybe she could have prevented it.
Ah, that made a bit of sense. Some of the blood purists could be vicious with their hate. Lorana had never been able to understand why some out that much effort into hatred. It seemed an awful waste and as though it didn’t serve any purpose. “I don’t suspect that people filled with that much hate can really have compassion for anything, including the neglected faults in themselves.” Truth was, Lori pitied people like that. Her focus was pulled to the other boy that walked into the room, smiling softly at the sight of Ivan.
In typical Lorana fashion she hadn’t gotten the chance to learn the boy’s name. She was sure she would have gotten to it eventually. She did recognize his name but nothing more than a flash of realization cross her eyes, no move to run away or shift in her demeanor toward him. Lori knew about the Greybacks but this particular one hadn’t done anything to turn her friendliness away from him and she didn’t scare all that easily. ”It’s nice to put a name to a face, Dareious.” She turned her smile to him. ”I’m Lorana and this is Ivan. Do you want us to walk with you to the infirmary? I always say you can never have too much company.”

Ivan was certain he was being introduced to both of them, but he already knew Lorana since he had seen her around the common room so many times. Aside from a lot of their previous encounters as well, he was glad that he had to keep himself preoccupied with some drivel about heading to the hospital wing. After all his only real interest was for him to be here to try getting Lorana on his side in general, but he didn't feel safe at all around this other person. Then again, he had no qualms with jealous right now and he had no reason to be since he had already put the moves on Lorana earlier. Now it was hard to take his eyes off of her after all of the fun they had been having.
Looking at the other male in the room, and nodded his head towards him to try negotiating with him about what could possibly happen in general. "Well hello Dareious, very interesting name if I may say so, and yes sorry for being a bore, I'm Ivan. Usually I'm quite the eccentric one with a joke or two up my sleeve, but other than that. I'd say Lorana here is a good friend of mine," he said slowly. Then whispered into her ear, "Working on becoming much more than that though, if you know what I mean," he said calmly into her ear gently. Soon he was nodding in return as he'd decide to go to the hospital wing with them to find out where they were going. Ivan wanted a little more information, but he could settle with this for now.
