James wasn't sure if he was ready for this scorching hot desert to burn his skin alive, but he would maintain all he needed to make it through this area. What a boring desert, he mused to himself, and glanced around trying to determine if there was any sense in just going onwards. Alaya didn't have trouble with the last task, but Gryffindor wasn't doing so hot in general. Rare as it were, there other forces to be more worried about, and he wasn't one of them. Keeping his eyes focused on the task, and started to flip his colors in the wind. Feeling his whole body quivering as his dirty brown to blonde hair wavered slightly. Lips curled into a snarl as he felt sand pass through his teeth and accidentally swallowed a bit of grit.

Kicking up a bit of sand and then racing off towards the nearest palm tree, he started to try to dig for an egg. There had to be something here and James felt like he had been forced by the task to actually make something make sense. Oh well, he wasn't going to complain too much and kept on muttering to himself how he could have won the last match if he hadn't gone off on his own at all. Teamwork was key here, and so far he was probably being a very lousy teammate to Alaya. Counting her and only her as his teammate since she was the only one he really could count on without stabbing him in the back int he long run.

"Well, one for the money, two for the growth, and now I'm going to find some awesome items during this ridiculously boring scavenger hunt," he muttered to himself, as if he wasn't expecting to encounter a creature at all.
