It was no secret to anyone that Astoria Malfoy was a busy woman. From the moment she walked into her office, sometimes even as she entered the Ministry itself, was she bombarded with work. Questions that needed answering, delegates that needed attending to, complaints that needed to be dealt with, documents that needed her approval. Never did she ever have a moment of peace during hours of operation of the Ministry, and frequently she was caught up in her office long after others had gone, depending on the work load of the day and how many delegates had managed to find fault in contracts pertaining to their respective countries. It was all too much and not enough at the same time. Don’t assume that she didn’t love her job, because she did, it was just that sometimes she’d like to have set hours... and the ability to vanish when two angry, opposing delegates came into her office, shouting, threatening both to retract contracts with the Ministry because of some typographical error.
That was what Astoria had spent the majority of her morning handling. It was simply a case of switching an ‘and’ for an ‘or’ and letting it be done with, but the two men had spent nearly three hours shouting and giving Astoria a rather large headache as a result. Most days it was tough being the mediator, but this morning she had found it nearly impossible as neither of the parties had been willing to listen to reason. Using her best authoritative voice, the one that held the berating tone of a mother, she told them that they had both best sit down and calm themselves, or they’d have to deal with the contract as it was. That had gotten them to shut up, at least for a little while so Astoria could attempt to qualm the pounding in her head into submission. It hadn’t lasted long; as soon as she suggested a change in the document, they had both been off again. At her wit’s end, Astoria plucked up her quill, and ran the ink through a line in the document, properly wording it in her favour and out of that of the two men, who appeared to be satisfied once she reread the proposition to them. She shooed them out of her office as quickly as she could, making a note to her assistant not to let any other red-faced men in, and to call security.
When she had finally sat down at her desk and settled in to deal with the growing pile of paperwork accumulating for her, a glance at her watch told her it was just about lunch time. With a soft sigh, Astoria carefully calculated the amount of time it would take her to get through the work-load, and decidedly got up from her chair, grabbing her small handbag and blazer as she made her way out the door. If she was going to be staying late into the evening, what was a few hours more, really?
The heels on her feet clicked softly against the floor as she joined the lunch crowd in the lifts. They filled up quickly; with the amount of employees taking leave Astoria wasn’t sure how the Ministry could function during lunchtime. A memo poked itself against her bare shoulder until she swatted it away. No, she was going to take herself away from the office for a while, whatever it was, it could wait for later. If it was truly important, her secretary would send a patronus after her.
She hummed a jaunty tune as she stepped out of the lift; fully aware of the amount of eyes on her she kept a light smile on her face. After all, how bad would it look if the Minister’s wife wasn’t smiling when she was so obviously going to see him? She gave a wave to said man’s secretary before pushing open the large door to his office.
“Afternoon darling,” she greeted before the door was completely open. “I was thinking we’d go for lunch. That is, if you’re not too busy...” she trailed off as she stepped into the lush, knowing that the chances of her actually getting what she wanted today were a little more slim than she’d like them to be. But she was trying, and that’s what mattered, right? tag; draco/kassy words; 770 outfit; click to view notes; bleck, it's bad, sorry

Work was piling up as usual for Minister Draco Malfoy. That was how it was every day. Then there was the fact that not too long ago a student had been attacked at Hogwarts, and to make matters worse, no one knew who did it. Luckily he had some good Aurors to figure that out. Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley. Sure he didn’t get along with them back when they were in school, but things had changed and they were all being civil now, he wouldn’t exactly call them friends though. He actually had to prepare a meeting for the three of them and the Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster at Hogwarts, but he was going to wait until there was at least one more attack. Just in case it was some stupid prank pulled by another student. He was busy filling out his report on the attack to file it away into his many files as he always did when things like this happened. He was about to put away the file when someone cam barging in through the door. “Minister, I really need to talk to you,” the man said quickly as he looked up at him. He could’ve sworn he told his secretary not to let anyone in. He glanced out for a moment and noticed the look on her face. Of course Adam Harper would push his way pass his poor secretary.
“Adam… Whatever it is I don’t have time to deal with it,” he sighed as he placed his papers in the file before looking up at the clock. It was almost time for lunch and he didn’t want Adam Harper, brother of the Holy Head Harpies Chaser, Georgina Harper, to bug him. He had a good feeling on what it is as well.
“You see sir, I wanted to make sure that all the plans for the Holyhead Harpies going to the Quidditch World Cup are going along,” the man took a seat and pulled it up to his desk. He had that look in his eyes that showed he didn’t plan on leaving.
Of course it would be about the Quidditch World Cup. “Now listen hear Mr. Harper. I know that the Holyhead Harpies are looking good for the Quidditch World Cup, but you and I both know that this can change. I’m not making any plans as to what teams will be there, because we won’t know until June rolls around, Now please Mr. Harper, get out of my office I’m a very busy man!” he told Adam and for a moment there it didn’t seem like he was going to move. “I’ll call security if you don’t.” he added and Adam stood up and bowed before leaving the office.
However, not too soon after Adam Harper left, another person entered his office. He was about to snap at this person as well until he realized that it was his wife. “Good Afternoon to you as well dear. Going out for lunch would be a splendid idea,” he said without hesitation. It was as if he wife had came right on cue to relieve him out of his stressful day for a nice lunch with the woman he loved dearly.

After Draco had been appointed Minister of Magic, it hadn’t taken Astoria much time to realize just exactly what this position entitled, not only for her husband, but also for herself. Of course, Minister Malfoy got the brunt of the work, the real jobs that were associated with a wizard with his power, but the repercussions, well, she probably saw them a little more than he did. Ever so slowly she had watched the new workload take a toll on her husband, unable to do much in way of helping as she had her own work to do, and much of it. They’d both been promoted around the same time, and at the time, Astoria hadn’t envisioned much changing for them, but in the long run, she realized that she should have thought a little more before accepting the position of head of her department when her husband had just been given the position of Minister.
At first she had feared that perhaps he’d go power-hungry, just as most slytherins, including herself she’d admit, were apt to do. Based on previous ministers she’d known of in the past, this wasn’t at all uncommon for them. Still, she had more than a little faith that this would not be the case with him; he also knew exactly what power could do to a person, and she was confident that he wouldn’t let that happen. The other possibility, the more likely of the two that she had considered, and exactly what had happened, was that the job was going to occupy more of his time. Perhaps it hadn’t been so at the beginning, but gradually it had happened, and Astoria had been powerless against it. Not to say that he was the only one with less and less free time; she herself had fallen deeper and deeper into her work for the last long while, which may have been why Draco’s lack of free time had slowly dwindled to her. She hadn’t exactly been around to see the change completely, so what could have been a very sudden shift seemed nothing more than a natural progression to her.
“We could wait for another time,” she said, leaning against the door slightly and buttoning up her blazer. “It does seem as if you have quite the workload for the day,” she tried to sound as nonchalant as possible, trying to make it seem as if she wasn’t disappointed, but she knew that lunch with her compared to things related to the security and well-being of the wizarding community was rather insignificant.

Draco would actually admit that he missed the time that he spent with his family; it seemed that those times were very rare now, especially with the recent happenings at Hogwarts. It had been a long time since things, such as students getting attacked, have happened. It was as if things were starting to grow dark again and Draco was going to do as much in his power as possible to avoid another Wizarding World. It took them too long for the Wizarding World and Muggle World to recover from the last one. It was really amazing that the Wizarding Community was still able to hide from the Muggle World. He wondered, just how much longer they’ll be able to keep up this hiding act, though he did visit the Muggle Prime Minister quite often to keep him updated with the Wizarding World and to ever let him know if some sort of evil witch or wizard was on the loose. But nothing drastic had happened lately yet.
“We could wait for another time,” she had said to him, but he didn’t want to wait for another time. What he needed was to get out of the office for a while and a lunch date with his wife was the perfect opportunity. “It does seem as if you have quite the workload for the day,” Draco glanced at his desk and knew that the papers were piling up all magically by themselves, probably some letters of concerned parents and other things that were going on. But he really did need a break. “No. I could definitely use a break to clear my mind some so that I can attack those tasks much easier,
” he smiled the smile he only gave Astoria, no one else. Often Draco wondered what he would do without her; it was too painful to think of a life without Astoria. Without her he wouldn’t have his son, or the ability to move forward ever since the Second Wizarding War. He had moved on from Pansy Parkinson after that war, feeling that staying with her would only make him go back to the way he used to be. But he didn’t want that, no. He didn’t like being a Death Eater, and the tattoo on his arm was only to remind him of the past that he once lived, and regretted to ever had done it. But now was not the time to think about that.
“So what did you have in mind for lunch today? A quick trip to Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley Perhaps?” he smirked lightly wanting her to choose where they’d venture to for their lunch.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

People could talk all they wanted but Astoria truly loved her husband. Over the years she’d heard quite the stories about her husband and herself, people (usually old coots with nothing better to do) fashioning tales of how they met, the horrible things they’d done together –torturing first year muggleborns when Voldemort had taken over Hogwarts, no doubt- and how they had both turned out to be respectable members of society despite this. All Astoria could do was laugh when she heard these things. That was the furthest from the truth. Muggleborns hadn’t even been allowed at Hogwarts during those times. It was just the minds of old batty women who had nothing better to do with their time. Once in a while, she heard a jealous co-worker spreading rumours of some sort, and it only served to amuse her. Some liked to believe that she had ensnared Draco and married him for money, or that their parents had arranged the whole thing. Which wouldn’t have been so surprising, she’d never have put it past her parents, but both Greengrass daughters ended marrying into well-to-do pureblood families anyway, which was all. Her favourite, however, was that she’d somehow cast some kind of old spell on Draco, and that’s why he’d been so taken with her. Even after all these years, Pansy’s initial reaction to their relationship still brought and smile to her face and a chuckled through her lips.
“That sounds like a magnificent idea,” she said, nodding. Surely a break would do him some good, clear his mind and let him go back to work relaxed and ready to face what he had to do. “Though I’ll try to make it so you’re not too eager to get back to your desk,” she said, responding to his smile and kissing his cheek. She loved that smile, it was her smile, and as it was, she had to share quite a bit of the Minister with the rest of the Wizarding community; it felt good to know that some things were still hers. She’d never really been good at sharing things either. “Actually,” she said with a slow, uneasy smile, not sure how he’d respond to her suggestion. “Daphne’s been raving about this Muggle restaurant Theo took her to for brunch when his parents were in town. It’s not far, really. A short walk, and it's lovely outside,” she said, hastily explaining herself. “And I may have... already made reservations,” she looked down, bashful, trying not to be presumptuous but she couldn’t help it. Astoria was not a shy woman, but her husband did always bring out new things in her. tag; draco/kassy words; 440-something outfit; click to view notes; it's short and ew and sorry >.<

“That sounds like a magnificent idea,” Draco smiled again, glad that she had also liked the idea. “Though I’ll try to make it so you’re not too eager to get back to your desk” he chuckled lightly at her little joke and then he liked it that she had kissed him softly on the cheek only causing him to give her that smile made just for her once again. “Actually,” he raised a light brow at her wondering what it was that she was thinking. Did she all of the sudden realize that she had other plans and that they wouldn’t be able to do their lunch date today and perhaps another day instead. He sure hoped not as he was really looking forwards to a bit of a break, he knew that if he didn’t head out for lunch with Astoria he would probably go back to his pile of paperwork and skip out on lunch instead of taking a break like he really should.
“Daphne’s been raving about this Muggle restaurant Theo took her to for brunch when his parents were in town. It’s not far, really. A short walk, and it's lovely outside,” he smiled at her and nodded his approval. He honestly did not mind going to Muggle restaurants at all. He probably would’ve in the past, but days were different now and it was like a whole new experience for him to try out the Muggle way of getting food. “And I may have... already made reservations” ah yes, he should’ve figured Astoria would’ve already had gone ahead and make reservations. She probably knew that Draco would say yes to their little lunch date especially since they didn’t get to go out on dates much these days with the way work was piling up for the both of them.
“That sounds like a good idea, I mean if Daphene and Theo liked the place I’m sure the two of us will as well. But I hope you have some muggle money for it seems that I’m fresh out at the moment,
” she chuckled lightly before leaning over and this time he was the one to deliver a kiss upon her cheek before he stood back up and held his arm out for her to link hers around. “Shall we get going than, Mrs. Malfoy,” he said slightly playfully as he waited for her to link her arm around his and lead him on out to the Muggle restaurant. Astoria didn’t know why she had been so antsy about asking him to go out for lunch, then again when she had suggested the place. This was her husband, the man she’d given her life to, the man she’d loved for the better part of twenty years, and the man with whom she had her family. Surely there was nothing she should feel shy about with him. Actually, she never really shied away from anyone. Maybe she acted a little more reserved around some, but that was mostly because she didn’t know them well or didn’t trust them as much. To be fair, she trusted Draco with her life, and she knew him quite well. At least she hoped she did. She had never wanted to give him reason to hide things from her; she certainly didn’t keep anything important from him... well, almost nothing.
With a light chuckle she lifted up her purse and shook it gently. “Always prepared, love,” she stated simply. It was true though; Astoria liked to be ready to face anything at any time. Far too many times had she been caught unprepared in her younger years and into her early twenties to remain so throughout the rest of her life. Especially with a child you had to be ready for anything, random hunger, impromptu sickness, Astoria had seen it all. Though now that Scorpius was older, she didn’t have to carry as many bags around or put as much stuff in her purse just in case. The day Scorpius had gone off to school, she had gotten home, cried a little, then emptied her purse out, and it had felt at least five pounds lighter.
“It must be marvellous, knowing Daphne and her habit of picking out the bad things in restaurants,” she said with a chuckle, threading her arm through his and laying her hand on his arm. It had been a while since they’d been in this position, and something about it just felt... right to Astoria. “Of course Mr Malfoy,” she said with a smile. tag; draco/kassy words; 350-ish outfit; click to view notes; it's short and ew and sorry >.<

“Always prepared, love,” Draco smiled at Astoria. He had always loved how prepared she was, one of the many things he loved about Astoria. “It must be marvellous, knowing Daphne and her habit of picking out the bad things in restaurants,” he nodded in agreement, Astoria’s sister did have a knack for that and it times it did become quite annoying.
“Of course Mr Malfoy,” Once gain Draco smiled feeling Astoria place her long slender arm around his and then the other one on top of his arm. It was as if they were the picture perfect couple for the Ministry. The Minister of Magic and his wife could easily be front page news, but today Draco didn’t want anyone else around he just wanted it to be him and Astoria. “So what kind of food do that have at this restaurant?
” he asked curiously knowing that some of the muggle restaurants only serve certain kinds of foods, such as a burger place or a Japanese restaurant. He wondered what it was about the place that even Daphne liked about it.
He knew he would also get to enjoy a nice walk with his wife as she said it was nearby, so there was no need to apparate and besides it wasn’t like they could just appear out of nowhere in the Muggle World, after all the Muggles didn’t know that witches and wizards existed. Unless of course there was someone in their family that had magical blood, but he was sure many of the street of where they were headed didn’t have that kind of situation.

She couldn’t help but grin at his question about the restaurant. It wasn’t common that her sister outright said she adored something, and even getting her to approve of anything at all was difficult. Certainly, it didn’t help that at a restaurant there were many things she could dissect and pick at, one of the main reasons Astoria never agreed to go to a new restaurant with her when they went out for lunch. The constant nick-picking was something Astoria couldn’t stand, so if they went to one of their tried and true places, she’d hear less of it, and on good days, none at all. Astoria herself like to take the good and the bad, and just decide overall what she liked. So when Daphne came over for tea a few days ago, and began talking exuberantly about this restaurant, Astoria knew she had to try it out and inspect it. There had to be something special about it for Daphne to be taken so quickly.
“If we trust Daphne’s word,” she said with the sly grin still on her face. “They serve Greek food,” she finished with a chuckle and a smile. She had asked Daphne the exact same question, and there laid the answer to why she had loved it so much; it was Greek, and the Greengrass family had strong Greek lineage, even from their mother’s side who was also part French. The girls had been raised to appreciate that part of their ancestry and had learned to read, write, and speak Greek to communicate with their grandparents from the country, at a very young age. “But I’m sure they’ll have other things too.” tag; draco/kassy words; 280-ish outfit; click to view notes; and now onto samantha! >3

“ If we trust Daphne’s word,” and he knew there was a rare chance that they didn’t trust Daphne’s word, but he didn’t see why they shouldn’t in this case. “they serve Greek.” Greek she said, of course Daphne would love the restaurant if they had Greek food. He knew that Astoria’s lineage had a lot of Greek in it and often when he went to the Greengrass family get togethers it often involved Greek food. He didn’t mind Greek food at all, in fact he thought it was pretty good so he didn’t seem to think there was any reason to not believe that this restaurant wasn’t as good as Daphne said it was.
“But I’m sure they’ll have other things too.” Draco smiled, glad that his wife always thought of others when it came to considering the kinds of a food a restaurant had. “Not to worry dear, you know I rather like Greek food so it shouln’t be a problem at all,
” he said softly before leaning over and giving his beautiful wife a kiss upon the cheek.
And soon they were in front of the fireplaces that lead them up to the surface of the muggleworld. “After you my dear,” Draco said lightly as he allowed her to enter one before him, nodding a hello to the front desk man that had greeted the two of them. Draco had become quite a bit nicer over the years compared to how he had been when he was attending Hogwarts. He often believed part of it was thanks to meeting Astoria and spending time with her and then eventually marrying her of course. She truly was the love of his life, there was no doubt about that. Astoria would trust her sister with her life, to be quite frank. They had been together through thick and thin, and Daphne was one of the few people that Astoria would talk to in earnest and not worry about being judged for it or having her words misconstrued. Often, Astoria was misunderstood with what she said, mostly because she didn’t always say exactly what she wanted to convey, but Daphne and a few others like her husband, managed to see what she really meant. She was glad she had at least her sister and husband who understood her; without them, she’d probably go insane. No question about it. Without her sister she’d be out her greatest confidant and her best friend, and without her husband, well, she’d be short one love of her life, to be honest.
“I know,” she said as she smiled back at him. “But I just mentioned it in case you weren’t in the mood for Greek,” she grinned wider as he kissed her cheek. They had been together for a long time, and every day was still something new for her. They weren’t the typical couple, both hardworking and determined to the point that they nearly neglected each other, though Astoria was working to rectify that. It wasn’t easy with their busy schedules, but little surprise lunch dates like this definitely helped. They, couldn’t, however, do this every day. Not only did they not have the time, but it would eventually get boring and repetitive, and that was exactly what Astoria liked to avoid. If things were interesting, there was no need to lose interest at all.
“Thank you, Draco,” she said once they were in front of the fireplaces and placed her lips against his cheek before releasing his arm and stepping forward. Always the gentleman. She found it endearing that he always put her first, even with little things. Then again, it was the little things that made her love him all the more. Carefully holding onto her bag and checking her watch, she deduced that they had quite a bit of time and could enjoy themselves on the way over, before she stepped into the hearth and was swept up to the surface world.

“But I just mentioned it in case you weren’t in the mood for Greek,” he smiled glad that his wife always thought of him before doing anything. “Thank you dear, he said softly after she had kissed him on her cheek and then he leaned over and kissed her back on her cheek. “And don’t worry about rushing through lunch, I think I could use a long break,” he said lightly as she stepped inside of the fireplace. Then he followed after herm, swooshing on up to the muggleworld. He had held his breath, never did like using floo powder as a form of travel, but it was still a good mode of transportation.
Once he was up on the streets of the Muggleworld he stepped over to his beautiful wife and linked arms with her. “Lead the way Mrs. Malfoy” he smirked lightly knowing that many were jealous of their relationship. He knew that there was one girl that had always been a bit jealous of his wife, and that was Pansy Parkinson, his old Hogwarts girlfriend. But honestly, it had always been better for Draco to leave that past of his behind and he was very joyous the day he had met Astoria and found her to be much better than Pansy. At least Astoria didn’t expect him to be evil all the time, or wanted him for his money. The two literally were in love, something that many had thought Draco could never do way back then, but ever since the defeat of the Dark Lord and the vow to turn a new leaf he had surprised many.

“That sounds lovely,” she responded, eager than most would be to take her husband from his work, however important it was. Every once in a while, she was allowed to be selfish and greedy, wasn’t she? If Astoria’s days were spent solely for the advancement of the relations between Ministries and coordinating things throughout the world that she wouldn’t receive any real direct profit from, surely it was fair that now and then she’d monopolize a little of her husband’s time for herself. She’d raised one child, taken care of her family; there had to be some way of being recompensed for her time invested in her home and her job, and she deemed this adequate. Nonetheless, anything more than a few minutes longer than their allotted lunch time and they’d both be in trouble. Astoria remembered with a grimace the pile of papers that was surely gathering on her desk and the owls and messages her secretary must be taking. Hopefully she’d get it all done at a reasonable time tonight, though it was unlikely.
Brushing dust and a little left over powder from herself, Astoria inhaled the fresher air they’d been exposed to and stepped forward, waiting the few moments for Draco to follow. She checked her watch once more and turned slightly, looking down the road, both ways, and trying to decide which way it was, or rather, remember what it was. “This way, I believe,” she said, pointing to her right. She should have asked Daphne for the directions.

“that sounds lovely” Draco smiled at his lovley wife glad that she liked the idea of keeping him out of the office for a while as well. He was pretty sure that he needed a break, in fact he was positive that he needed one to help clear his minds off of things. “This way I believe,” Draco tilted his head slightly at Astoria, hoping that his wife had gotten or remembered the directions in general to the place. Though he always wouldn’t mind a walk around London with his dear wife.
“Well I hope that Daphene gave you some easy directions, but I also wouldn’t mind a stroll through London either,” he chuckled lightly as he walked step in step with Astoria, enjoying listening to the busy streets of London. All the cars and noises coming from Muggles, he still often wondered how muggles could live without magic, but apparently they had been doing it for years on end, so what’s to say they couldn’t continue on doing it? Sure some may not agree with having the muggles around, but really what fair would it be to get rid of them? “I hope the day at the office so far hasn’t been too stressful for you,” he said lightly trying to make a bit of conversation to keep his mind off of work related things.
