There weren't many days that Chun enjoyed the cold. The plants that she enjoyed nurturing withered and died, and a spontaneous flight about the area wasn't exactly feasible if it was windy. She couldn't stand being locked inside school walls for very long with the way it could easily be so suffocating. However, she just couldn't handle the drop in temperature that well. She often would huddle herself in whatever warmth she could find outside, and remained there until it became unbearable, where her face remained reddened for hours, if only slightly. Unfortunately, it usually didn't take her too long before shrinking back into the confines of the castle, usually only about an hour or so.
Today was different, though she wasn't entirely sure why. Chun had just stepped out this morning and kept going. She supposed it wasn't that big of a deal, since most people wouldn't be coming to look for her anyway. The slytherin appreciated that really. It was nice to move about where she wanted, not really being questioned unless it broke one of the school's regulations. She preferred moving through or out of the crowds, and through the seven years, she had managed it without drawing attention. It was great in a way. If no one saw you, there wasn't a way for them to know a regular behavior pattern. After all, to live out of suspicion would be a criminal's best trait.
It hadn't been long before she found herself over at the lake. It was nice to see the snow that had been slowly collected over the course of the winter, thankful that she had taken steps to dress warmly. The pea coat and navy scarf was what likely kept her from slinking back inside Hogwarts. She was starting to get stir crazy the longer the winter lasted. The fresh air was less restricting, and it was easier to hide when the walls weren't the limit in which she could reach. The snow looked so powdery and fresh that if she had been younger, it would've been much harder to resist diving into it. Well, maybe it wouldn't hurt. The dormitory was just a quick jog away.
She made a quick glance to make sure she was alone, then falling onto her back in the snow. It was cold (bloody cold) and wet, but it was a good feeling with the sky above her, slightly overcast but large and expansive.
