I'm not gonna wait around, Let you run my whole life down, So you can watch me fade away
So take me as I am

It was a beautiful late afternoon with the sun slowly starting to descend beyond the horizon. The colors of the rays reflected off the snow covered ground and created massive shadows of any object of thing it touched. The shadow casted by the Whomping Willow loomed over the gryffindor. She was close to the tree and knew of its dangers but for her it was nice. Not many ventured as close to the tree as she did and it gave her the perfect place to go unnoticed. She had plans for that evening and it did not mean getting caught by anyone.
Everything was so simple before. Now in her sixth year there were so many things going it was insane to take up another task but she did. It was stupid but this one she couldn't exactly say no. It was an unexpected request and now she wondered if she was going to regret getting involved. She knew what it was like to have a dysfunctional family and under her best judgment she would not get involved. Was keeping an eye on someone really getting involved or was it her business all things considered. The boy was kin now and with her plans for the future she needed to keep an eye on him anyway. Alaya was tiered of the conflicting thoughts and also she didn't even know the boy that she was keeping a watch over, only his name. Jasper Greyback.
Alaya looked up at the tree. It had seen so much in its lifetime. Alaya half wished she could talk with the tree and get an answer back. She would love advice from a tree. Sure there are professors she could talk to and she hadn't been to see the headmaster and she did respect his wisdom. But she had yet to meet an adult that she could easily open up to. Well at least be able to talk about her plans with. She didn't know any werewolf out there either that might be willing to talk with her.
It was best not to think of such what ifs. Events will happen when they happen and not a moment sooner. She would have to work with trial and error but she knew that it was possible because she was still alive now, which said a lot. Alaya looked around after hearing something. She noticed someone else walking towards the old tree. The Willow shook slightly and she grinned. She felt like the tree really did know more that it would ever let off. She pulled her coat tighter to escape the sharp cold of the winter air. Perhaps now was the time for understanding.
