OUTFIT HERE!
The weather was rather chilly on this snowy winter morning. The lake of course wasn't frozen over but the grounds all around it sure were. Why she had decided to even come down to the lake on such a cold morning was beyond her. It was probably because during this time of the year the lake was usually pretty deserted especially in the morning times. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the castle was nice sometimes and coming to the lake was a great place for her to focus on her music and writing. Lately she had been in a really down mood, it was nearing the anniversary of her sister's death and during this time of the year she always got pretty down. It was usually during this time that she tended to write the most and sing the most. She had loved singing to her little sister back in the day and now sung to her sister wherever she may be now.
Joy found a spot under a tree that wasn't completely covered in snow and lay down her blanket to sit on. She had brought her guitar with her, an instrument she had been playing for years, and a notebook that had some of her other songs and writings in it. Closing her eyes she just sat there for a few moments, thinking, feeling. After about five minutes she opened her eyes and started to strum on her guitar, it was a soft melody, soothing, sad. It fit her current mood well and she started to hum along a made up melody to fit the tune of the song. Adding the words would come a little later once she figured out exactly what notes should go where. Writing and singing came second nature to her and while it was easy for her and she didn't think much about it while she was doing it, it was really a complex thing to do.
Playing the tune over and over she made little tweaks here and there each time. After playing the tune a good six times she was beginning to come up with the words, words that she sung only ever so quietly. Singing for others wasn't something she ever did, it scared her and made her nervous to say the least. Writing was easy, reporting and journalism was easy all because she simply had to write and let others read it. It was easier to let others read her thoughts when they were on paper as opposed to her having to express them through her music to others. The weather may be cold but for Joy it was the perfect day for writing.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i54.tinypic.com/2vafwqd.jpg), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] winter generally seemed to depress people, and fred couldn't understand why. where the thought had been inspired he had no idea, but as he darted around the courtyard of the hogwart's castle, ducking behind an undying plant and reemerging to launch a snowball at a ravenclaw fifth year and his hufflepuff girlfriend who had decided to involve him in their snowfight (though he didn't think the girl had meant to hit him with a misaimed snowball, he took it as an invitation and was quite sure that both the happy couple and himself were all the more energetic because of it) it crossed his mind. people often complained of the weather, of how seeing plants dying depressed them to no end, but really... what was the sense of that? lots of plants around hogwarts had enchantments on them that helped them survive through snow and winter conditions, and even the ones that didn't would bloom again in the spring. why couldn't teenagers focus on the beauty of freshly fallen snow rather than think of the 'dead horrors' it hid?
personally fred adored winter. really there wasn't a season that he didn't enjoy, but winter was a nice change from the normal scenery, and snow made such an excellent weapon... the second it had fallen he'd been sure to nail lucas in the back of the head as his friend was on his way to his second class of the day. you couldn't have snow without snowball fights, as the gryffindor was exercising at the moment. he cursed with a laugh as he failed to duck in time and was hit in the side by the girl. but, when he went to return fire, he found the happy couple sprinting away, grinning and looking over their shoulders back at him. random snowball fights with students he'd never met before and didn't know the names of? yep, sounded like a good day in fred's opinion.
having lost his 'buddies', fred moved on to other things. what other things? well, he wasn't quite sure. basically wherever his feet led him he went. he had no where in particular he needed to be... lucas had been busy lately doing whatever the hell the guy did, and the rest of fred's friends were out with their girlfriends or studying or, well, busy in general. so fred got to be the cool guy walking towards the whomping willow all alone.
at least, he was walking towards it until he heard the music. in the cool air of winter sound seemed to travel far, and fred distinctly heard the sound of a guitar above, well, silence. of course music out here where few other students ventured on cold days, especially alone and so not accompanied by voices, perked his interest, and it wasn't long until the seventh year located the figure of joy huntley sitting alone on a blanket under a tree, guitar in her grasp. his feet instinctively set a path through the light covering of snow towards her, a grin on his lips. "mind some company?"

Her mind was so deeply locked into what she was doing that she didn't even hear or see the person approaching her through the snow. Hearing a familiar voice she dropped her hand from her guitar, a blush instantly colored her cheeks, and looked up from her papers. It was Fred Weasley, someone she had once been rather close but they had started to drift apart so it seemed. "Oh uh...no I don't mind" she stammered slightly. It was always an embarassing moment for her when she realized that someone had been watching and listening to her singing. She moved her guitar off to the side of her and scooted over to make some room for Fred on the blanket beside her. Despite their past drifting the two were still friends and Joy felt fairly comfortable around him. Even Fred didn't know about her sister though, no one at Hogwarts did not even her best friends just because she didn't like telling anyone. It was her life and it was private.
"How have you been? I haven't seen you in a while" she replied looking over at Fred with a small smile. When they had been writing back and forth they had gotten really close and they knew most everything about each other. Joy knew almost every member of his extensive family and was friends with quite a few of them. Fred was probably one of the ones she was the closest with but that was only because she had spent more time getting to know him. Deep down she knew that she liked him as more than just a friend, she had a crush on him and had for a while.
Her curly blonde hair fell around her face in its usual mess and with a sigh she pulled it back into a messy bun and pulled her hood over her head. "Brr" she said with a smile and pulled her knees to her chest. It was rather chilly outside and despite having some layers on she was starting to feel the cold ebbing through her clothes and chilling her skin. She wondered how Fred was fairing in the cold weather, skinny boy that he was.
