It had been a few weeks since the Yule Ball, and Rose was still feeling pretty happy about her choice to go with Scorpius. Sure, her best friend had not been split up from him for long before the ball had happened, and she felt a little bad about that, but really, wouldn't Aubrey just want Rose to be happy? Well, that was a sure thing, but Rose still hadn't really seen Aubrey since that night, surprising considering they shared a dorm room.
Where had her friend been? Better yet, was Rose being ignored because of the Ball? No, that couldn't be it. Rose hadn't told Aubrey about going to the ball with Scorp, and thing seemed to have been fine before then. Did Aubrey maybe find a new guy, and was spending all her time with him currently, too excited to tell her best friend? Again Rose had to shake her head no, that couldn't be it. They had been friends, best friends, their whole Hogwarts career, surely something as huge as that would be mentioned quickly. Then again....Rose was keeping a huge secret herself.
She sighed a little as she tred down the stairs from the dorm room to the common room. Today was going to be a quiet day, or at least, a quiet morning. Breakfast had come and gone, it wasn't a Hogsmead weekend, and all her homework was done. Of course, that was finished last night so the rest of the weekend could be enjoyed doing whatever she wished. This morning, it was sit and relax with a book. Rose sat on a chair beside the fire place, happy to find that at least one chair was empty. She took a quick glance around to note who all was still in the common room, then opened her book to the bookmark and began to read.

Lately Aubrey had been quite happy with things well all except for one thing and that was the fact that her best friend hadn't even told her that she would be going to the Yule Ball with Scorpius. She didn't care that she went with Scorpius, after all she wanted Rose to be happy, but why couldn't she have told her? Why was it kept from her? She thought that they were best friends! Had that been why shortly before the Yule Ball she hadn't been able to find Rose and to tell her that she was going with Frank Longbottom? She wasn't entirely sure.
It sucked that she had been avoiding her best friend. She wanted to tell Rose all about her and Frank. It truly had been wonderful she never felt any happier and she knew that whenever Scorp saw her he wasn't exactly happy. She knew that only because he had been avoiding her as well... She wanted to still be good friends with Scorp but it seemed that he didn't want that.
Aubry sighed softly heading back into the Gryffindor common after eating breakfast. She was glad that lately she had been able to keep up with homework despite the fact that the professors kept on piling more and more on them. She was just glad she chose classes that she knew she could do versus keeping classes she struggle in. With her mind on that she wandered of to one of the comfy chairs unaware who else was in the room including the person she had been avoiding.
OCC: sorry about the wait!

Rose turned the pages of the well loved book every minute or so. She was a quick reader, and having read the book a few times before meant that she also almost had it memorized. This was probably her favorite book, her mother used to read it to her as a child, then Rose began reading it on her own, and she still reads it. She smiled in content as the chapter finished, and she paused her reading long enough to take another look around the common room.
Her eyes landed on several people that she knew, go figure having lived with some of these people for five and a half years. She grinned a little at that thought, then as her eyes continued their scan they fell on a certain girl. This wasn't just any girl who had ploped themselves down on the comfy chair. No, this was the supposed best friend. The best friend that Rose hadn't seen since the night of the Yule Ball.
A small frown took the place of the smile that had been on her face. Rose wondered where Aubrey had been these past few weeks. Was she actually avoiding Rose? The only way to find out was to talk to the girl. She let out a soft sigh, hoping that an argument would not take place. What would she do without her best friend? Gaining the courage to speak, Rose placed the bookmark in her book. She stalled a few more seconds by placing the book gently on the table, but then decided that there was no way to stall any longer. Finally, she spoke up, placing a smile on her face. "Hey Aubrey! Where on earth have you been hiding?" She hoped to set the right tone, no accusations in that statement, right?
((Its ok, I've been pretty busy myself))

“Hey Aubrey! Where on earth have you been hiding?” for a moment the young blond Gryffindor froze. The person she had been avoiding was now in the very same room as her. She really should’ve been much more observant. She blamed the overwork of homework tiring her out that she forgot to take a quick glance in the common room… If she would’ve noticed Rose there Aubrey would’ve immediately spun around and maybe head out to the pitch or something, to practice flying without her best friend teaching her.
“Oh hey Rose...” she said rather quiet. What else was she to say? She had been purposely avoiding Rose after all and still didn’t know how to confront her on things such as her going to the Yule Ball with Scorp without even telling her! “I’ve been studying, prefect duties… you know… the usual…” she said lightly, hoping that maybe the red head wouldn’t carry on the conversation. It was already feeling a bit awkward. Maybe she should lie and say that she had prefect duties to attend to. But yet… she couldn’t bring herself to say it just yet. She knew why, it was because part of her wanted to find out why Rose wouldn’t tell her about Scorpius! They were best friends! Why did Rose feel she had to keep it a secret from her?

Studying and prefect duties? Taking up every single last second of Aubrey's time? Rose couldn't believe that for a second. What was her friend hiding from her? Better yet, why was Aubrey hiding herself from Rose? It was very hard for Rose to keep her cool at that moment, wanted to almost scream out at her friend to just tell her the full story about what was going on, but then, Rose also thought that her lack of explination was possibly part of the problem.
One thing that Rose knew very well was that Aubrey and Scorp did not break up too long before the Yule Ball. The fact that Rose then went to the ball with her best friend's ex, and not told her best friend, well, that may have caused problems. But really, they were sixteen years old! If something was bugging Aubrey, weren't they old enough to talk like mature adults about it?
Instead, trying to avoid the dramatic outburst that Rose's rbain was telling her to do, she said, in what was hopefully a calm voice "Oh ya? Giving out lots of detentions these past few weeks?" There was no way that she believed it. Prefect duties had never kept Aubrey that busy before, and it wasn't likely to keep her that busy now. What else could Rose say that wasn't going to come across as her accusing Aubrey of lying?
