Nikko sniffed working out the sore spot on his jaw compliments of some overgrown ape-man that had been running his pie hole about a friend of his. It wasn’t in his nature to sit idly by and let his friends get ragged on so Nikko had instinctively said something to make the guy look like the dick that he was. How was Nikko to know that the guy was sensitive about having a small shlong, especially when he displayed it so proudly on his forehead? Really the whole incident hadn’t been his fault and yet there he was, heading to the Great Hall his jaw cracking every time he moved it. But did Nikko regret humiliating the guy in front of his goonish friends? Hell no. It had been worth it, completely.
The Hufflepuff table was strangely empty. Perhaps because Nikko was a little bit early to dinner but who could fault him for that? He was sure that a bruise was cropping up near the corner of his mouth and for some reason he had licked the left corner of his mouth only to find that he tasted blood, just a little bit. “Great, idiot cut me with his Neanderthal knuckles.” Nikko grumbled plopping down at a deserted section of the table. The very first thing that he did was to pour a glass of ice water and hold it to his bruise hoping that it would keep the swelling down. The normal thing to do in this situation would have been to go to the infirmary but Nikko wasn’t having that. It wasn’t like he was bleeding to death, a little bruise could heal the muggle way, after all it was what he was used to at home.
His focus was on the wide variety of food that was set out for that night’s supper, carefully deliberating on what he wanted to eat. The only issue with that was his rumbling stomach was contradicting the popping of his jaw every time he moved it. It wasn’t favourable for chewing. His senses caught a delicious waft of loaded potato soup though and Nikko hungrily pulled it over to him with his free hand, breaking the cooling process long enough to take a sip of the water. Only when he felt someone’s presences approaching him, looming next to him, did Nikko look up to see whom it was. Flashing her a guilty grin Nikko toasted the glass in Sabrina’s direction. “Hey babe, what’s shaking?” Nonchalant as always.

Class was horrible that day. Why on earth did the Professors need to force so much homework on the students? And the worst of it was, she didn’t even have potions that day. The class she knew she would bring an “O” home in. Sighing softly the young blond walked the steps of a flight of stairs, and hopped off of the stairs just before they moved. Potions and Herbology were the two classes she knew she was going to keep after her fifth year. The year of her O.W.L.s. She knew that was why the Professors were giving them so much work; it was only six more months until they took their O.W.L.s. She knew she would be dreading every day that week and she knew she needed to take at least five O.W.L.s home in order to continue on to her sixth year.
Sighing softly she held the new book of potions she got from the Potions Professor (having stopped by her classroom after classes just to get it) close to her chest as she made her way through the busy hallways. She was hungry and was looking forward to a nice big juicy steak, cooked rare, or even raw, both sounded just as delicious. She knew normal witches and wizards would find that gross, but everyone knew that Sabrina wasn’t normal. No, Sabrina was a half-werewolf and many looked down on her because of that. Including the one person at the school she truly wished wouldn’t look at her like she was about to kill him.
And then she saw him. That short dirty blond hair of a second year walking the hallways in his school robes chatting with his friends. Instantly her eyes lit up in hopes that maybe this time he’ll actually want to talk to her. “DOUGLAS!
” she called out happily as she waved to her younger brother. But the small Hufflepuff boy only glared at her and then continued to walk along his way. Sighing softly as she hunched her back and finished her way to the Great Hall. Another failed mission at trying to get her brother to actually talk to her. Why did her father have to tell him that she was part-werewolf? And then she was in the Great Hall and noticed that she had gotten to it earlier than usual as not that many people occupied the four house tables. Perhaps it was because she felt so hungry much earlier than usual, she blamed the professors for draining all the energy out of her because of all the work they were putting the fifth years through. Sighing once again her Sapphire eyes scanned the Great Hall for anyone that she knew and then she spotted Nikko; she knew that he could almost always lift her spirits up. And so the young Hufflepuff girl headed on over to the Hufflepuff table walking up right behind Nikko. “ Hey babe, what’s shaking?” and Sabrina couldn’t help but smirk at his comment before she sat down in the seat next to him, laying her book on the table in front of her and laying her head upon it. “ Not a whole lot. The Professors drained us again, and Douglass just glared at me and ignored me for what seems to be like the millionth time,” she sighed sadly before she perked up and grabbed one of the juicy rare steaks that just appeared on the table. It was like the little house elves could sense when she sat down at the table. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Just like that Sabrina’s face lit up with a smirk. He had to admit he liked that he could have that kind of effect on some people. All that bluster was good for something after all it seemed, which was generally a comforting thought. Looking over the book that she had brought along with her it didn’t surprise Nikko to see that it had something to do with Potions. He would never have the knack for it that she did but that didn’t mean that he hated the subject. In fact he was rather fond. Brewing up all sorts of neat concoctions, cutting up and grinding things like bicorn horn and rat tails, it was pretty much every boys dream, getting their hands dirty and making something, whether it be productive or not was questionable, but Nikko knew that he had always enjoyed the messy activities like finger painting and making mud pies.
“Fifth year does that to ya.” His hadn’t been as stressful as Sabrina’s seemed to be taking that hard toll on her. But then they were different in many aspects, academics happening to be one of them. Nikko wasn’t much for over exerting himself with them. He would procrastinate until the last minute, crank up what he could and either the Professors were satisfied with it or they weren’t and he just didn’t sweat it. But Sabrina, she cared. “Hard day then?” Rhetorical question of course, even the most absent-minded of people would have been able to tell that Sabrina wasn’t a happy camper. “I got punched in the face- maybe that can shed some perspective.” Nikko gestured toward his swelling jaw still grinning that lopsided smile of his.
“Although I might have been asking for it. Maybe that cancels out that potential perspective.” He waved his hand in the air dismissively mouthing a spoonful of his soup. Sabrina’s food of choice didn’t really bother him. True, he liked his steak well done, but to each their own. It wasn’t like blood made him too squeamish or anything. “I bet Dougie boy looked adorable scrunching up his face into a glare. You really ought to do something about the boy though. Tell you what I willingly volunteer myself to kidnap him while he’s sleeping and tie him to a chair in the common room so you can have a nice little chat with him. I can see it now… brutish approach- it’s the only way to go.” He was kidding of course, or mostly. It depended on how long her little brother was going to give her the cold shoulder.

“Fifth year does that to ya.” she nodded lightly in agreement as she moved her book down next to her so that she could pull a piece of rare steak onto her plate and cut it up. In reality she was so hungry that she could just pick it up whole with her hands and just eat it quickly, but she didn’t want to disgust people are get blood all over her clothes. So she just tried to go a bit faster with cutting it up into small pieces. “Hard day then?” She nodded once more as she took her fork and stabbed it into a piece of meat before plopping it into her mouth and chewing on in hungrily. It was definitely a hard day for Sabrina, she had a five foot long essay now for History if Magic on the four founders of Hogwarts. She really hated History of Magic and couldn’t wait to drop it next year.
“I got punched in the face- maybe that can shed some perspective.” Sabrina turned to look at Nikko and noticed the small bruise forming on his chin as she stabbed her fork into another piece of meat and plopping that piece into her mouth as well. She looked at it closely, it didn’t seem too bad so there was no reason to suggest that he go to the Hospital Wing. “Although I might have been asking for it. Maybe that cancels out that potential perspective.” She smiled at him as she let out a small laugh. Leave it to Nikko to give another person a reason to punch him. But she had a feeling it had to do with defending someone, but usually the way he went about it caused him to get hit or yelled at. But she knew that she’d always have him around if she needed someone to defend her.
“I bet Dougie boy looked adorable scrunching up his face into a glare. You really ought to do something about the boy though. Tell you what I willingly volunteer myself to kidnap him while he’s sleeping and tie him to a chair in the common room so you can have a nice little chat with him. I can see it now… brutish approach- it’s the only way to go.” Sabrina shook her head lightly as she finished chewing on her piece of meat. That was a horrible idea; she knew it would only cause Douglas to become even more scared of her. “What so we can intimidate him even more and get detention at the same time?
” she let out a small laugh as she glanced around wondering if Douglass was going to show up in the Great Hall soon. But she had a feeling that since he saw her enter it that he was going to avoid going there as usual. “ He’s still young and brainwashed by my father… I’m sure one day he’ll come around,” she sighed softly before looking up at the castle’s ceiling. She always did love how the ceiling was enchanted to see the night’s sky. With it being Novemeber, the nights came sooner and Sabrina could already see stars popping out in the sky. “ I just wish he’d come around sooner. It’s not fair of him to think of me like that when he doesn’t even know the real me,” she sighed again before plopping yet another piece of meat in her mouth. He was at least getting her to smile which for Nikko made him think that he was brightening up her so far horrible day. A lot of people found his flippancy a nuisance, but then when someone needed to have a smile slapped on their face he was usually the first person that they went to. It was nice that Sabrina seemed to, more or less, like being around him for more than the occasional laugh when she was down. She was a cool chick- why her brother was so uppity about her being a werewolf, or half werewolf was beyond him. Sure there was the lingering worry about maybe getting her cranky and having Sabrina wolf out on them and maul you, but hey the chances of pissing her off that bad were really slim. Even if that whole stereotype of younger siblings making it their life’s goal to nag you into pulling your hair out.
She had said that her Pops had brainwashed the kid, there was something to consider in that. “Well if he has been brainwashed my suggested method is the best course of action. Deprogram him, you know?” Nikko slurped on his soup happily more than content with his reply. They did it with those fanatic cult members all the time, detoxifying their minds so couldn’t that apply to misguided prejudice beliefs too? Maybe that was getting into freedom of thought, but most people were influenced by the way that they were raised. There was a whole big debate about nurture versus nature still in the psychology community and dinner conversations at home had often circled around to the subject. Nikko wasn’t all that book smart, nor did he claim to be, but that didn’t mean that he was stupid. He could be argumentative with the best of them.
“Drastic results require drastic actions on your part. Next time Douglas walks away from you take the initiative and round on him blocking his path. He might not love it, might even hurt your case with first impressions but you can’t change his mind about you if you never get the chance to actually talk to him.” Sabrina had a classic case of being stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Anything that she did wasn’t going to be taken kindly at first and it would have to get worse before it got better. It wasn’t fair but that was just how things were.

“Well if he has been brainwashed my suggested method is the best course of action. Deprogram him, you know?” Sabrina nodded, letting him know that she was indeed listening as she chewed on another piece of meat while looking at him. Nikko did have a point, there had to be a way to “deprogram” Douglass as Nikko called it. She wondered if perhaps there was a potion for that. It would definitely be easier for her to make a potion that would do that for her, but then there as a matter of slipping it into Douglas’s drink. She was sure that if there was such a potion that Nikko would probably be all up for slipping it into Douglas’s drink. She could just see him now, going over to Douglas and teasing the little second year while somehow managing to slip the potion into his pumpkin juice. Did Douglass even like Pumpkin Juice? She wouldn’t know until she somehow managed to talk to him.
“Drastic results require drastic actions on your part. Next time Douglas walks away from you take the initiative and round on him blocking his path. He might not love it, might even hurt your case with first impressions but you can’t change his mind about you if you never get the chance to actually talk to him.” she was about to open her mouth to protest that, that wasn’t the right way to go about it but then she closed her mouth as she plopped in another piece of meat and chewed on the thought. Nikko did have a point, the way she had been trying to approach the situation wasn’t really working. Perhaps she did need to go to drastic measures. That did seem to be the only way she could go about it. But she had this guy feeling that if she tried to block his path he might just scream saying he was trying to hurt her. Why did things just have to be so complicated at time?
“If only there was a deprograming potion… then I could just make it and have someone else slip it into his drink,
” she said lightly once she had finished chewing on her meat. “ I mean I know I could just go up to him and stand in his way to talk to him, but what if he screamed ‘bloody murder’ or something,” she said a bit quietly. She had always looked at things when it came to Douglas a bit pessimistically. Perhaps she should try being a bit more optimistic and try out the ideas that Nikko had for her. Minus the whole tying Douglas to a chair she was pretty sure they’d get into huge trouble for that one there was no doubt in that. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Looking for the book that had been on the table Nikko finally noticed that Sabrina had moved it. He didn’t bother to search for it too long though the delectable potato soup with all its melted cheese goodness was beckoning his attention. Plunging his spoon back into the steaming bowl to retrieve him another bite. “I’m sure there is something similar to it in that book of yours. Since you’re such a whiz when it comes potions maybe you could whip up a modified wit-sharpening potion so it clears his mind and rids it of all the nonsense your Pops fills it with.” If any student could do it, if there wasn’t specific potion already, Nikko was confident that Sabrina could.
“I’d be more than happy to be the one to slip it into his drink.” Nikko beamed. There were zero scruples when it came to doing something like that. He wasn’t an overly sensitive person so the deed, especially since it really didn’t do any harm, didn’t even scratch the conscience that it might have been wrong. “Pull a little Kansas City Shuffle on him.” He nodded eagerly. It was an old time trick, but then Nikko was old school so it worked out rather fittingly. Get Doug to look one way and slip the potion into his drink from the other side. It was simple, but who said you needed to go all extravagant when it came to things?
There was the risk of having her little brother spaz out on her, but it shouldn’t stop her from trying. He didn’t have the problems that she did and it was a bit difficult for him to fully understand what it was like, Nikko was an only child after all. “In that case make sure to care around a piece of candy with you that way when he opens his mouth to scream you just pop it right in there- that should keep him satisfied for a few minutes at least and distract him from making some big scene. I mean who would expect something like that to happen to them?” Nikko probably would have expected something like that to happen to him but that was because he would have done that to someone else.

She glanced down over at the new books she had gotten from Professor Liason, she always seemed to be giving Sabrina new potion books every now and again that it made Sabrina felt a bit guilty. Perhaps she should start trying to get to Hogsmeade more and looking out for upcoming books and preorder her own ahead of time so that Professor Liason didn’t have to help her out. But it wasn’t like Sabrina really had a lot of money, it was hard for her mother to find a job these days with being a werewolf and all and so they were stuck with help from her grandparents until her mom finds one that isn’t so judgemental against werewolves. She may have hated History of Magic, but she still knew about a famous werewolf that helped during the second wizarding war, but apparently that didn’t get rid of people’s judgment on them.
“I’m sure there is something similar to it in that book of yours. Since you’re such a whiz when it comes potions maybe you could whip up a modified wit-sharpening potion so it clears his mind and rids it of all the nonsense your Pops fills it with.” She looked back over at Nikko, perhaps there would was a wit-sharpening potion she could try to use on Douglas, but did wit-sharpening potions work that way? Well they could, depending on the person and there was only one way to find out if it would work on Douglas. “I’d be more than happy to be the one to slip it into his drink.” She smiled at Nikko, she knew that she could always count on Nikko to help her out in these types of situations. “Pull a little Kansas City Shuffle on him.” She giggled at his comment. She knew he was being serious, but she always thought that the term sounded quite funny.
“In that case make sure to care around a piece of candy with you that way when he opens his mouth to scream you just pop it right in there- that should keep him satisfied for a few minutes at least and distract him from making some big scene. I mean who would expect something like that to happen to them?” Candy, what if she ordered one of those tongue tying candies that were sold at the Weasley Wizard Wheezes, she had a catalog of their merchandise up in her room. Some of their items sure did come in handy when one wanted to hide from everyone and of course Sabrina had those days sometimes. “I guess I shall have to look at my catalog for WWW. They’re bound to have something good that I can use to keep him quiet for a bit, I just hope I can get him to stay quiet long enough to listen to what I have to say, or before I become angry because he doesn’t want to listen at all,
” she frowned slightly knowing that when she became angry it was much harder for her to control her “animal instincts” it was the same thing for all werewolves and half-werewolves. She’s read up on her kind to find out what it is that she could do to help keep her cool. That’s why she now made her own wolfsbane potion after all, so that it was easier to keep her emotions in check. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

She was right, there was bound to be something that she could use from Weasley Wizard Wheezes. Even if it was a bit unconventional with a bit of creativity and the willingness to try it out Sabrina was sure to have Douglas in a state fitting a good conversation if she just tried. What was the big deal about her being a werewolf anyway? It wasn’t like Sabrina went around acting brutish and intimidating people given her superior strength and enhanced healing abilities. She didn’t bare her teeth and growl at some defenseless kid walking down the hall minding his own business, or snap at people, literally. She was who she was and happened to be doing a damn good job at being an amazing person regardless of how different she was from other people. Everyone was different so Nikko could see the problem with her being a werewolf, part or otherwise.
What then had her Pops said about her to make something that shouldn’t have been a problem, worth shying away from his own flesh and blood sister? Maybe if Sabrina found out the details she could better enlighten Douglas to the truth, or as it pertained to her. So what if werewolves were supposed to be vicious and liked to maim people, especially under the influence of the full moon. Sabrina wasn’t like that. She was a downright sweetheart if Nikko ever had seen one.
“It’s going to have to be all about trail and error, I think.” There was no telling what would work on Douglas to get his senses back on the right track. Sabrina didn’t really know that much about the kid and as for Nikko, he knew even less- his name, what he looked like and the fact that he was Sabrina’s little brother and apparently didn’t like werewolves. Was it fear or hate that brought on this dislike though. Either way both usually revolved around the same thing, fear and/or hating things that they didn’t understand. “But I’m sure you’ll get it eventually. The question becomes; do you really think it’s worth it?” He understood that she wanted to know her brother- family was family- but was it worth all the trouble in the end? Or was she better off being content with how things were?

Why did Douglas have to bother her like this all the time? Didn’t he realize that she worked hard on her potions to be able to brew the wolfsbane potion on her own to show him that she was doing everything she could to keep herself under control? “It’s going to have to be all about trail and error, I think” She nodded lightly in agreement, slowly chewing on a piece of meat. It would be trial and error, but then again Weasley Wizard Wheezes seemed to have so many things for her to choose from. She found that not only were they hand for pranks (which she rarely did) but for many other things as well. Like if she wanted to be invisible from everyone, all she had to do was buy one of their temporary invisibility cloaks. Or if she wanted to get out of class, just buy one of their pills that get you sick, nosebleed was her favorite it always seemed to gross the teachers out.
“But I’m sure you’ll get it eventually. The question becomes; do you really think it’s worth it? She stopped chewing on her meat as she looked up at him. She had often thought of that. Was it really worth it to work so hard on making a potion just to keep herself calm during the full moon? Was it worth it to take so much energy out of herself just to try and get her brother’s attention? Well she knew that the being good at potions wasn’t just to prove to her brother that she can control herself, but to prove to herself that she can. As well as something to be proud of, it was one of the few things she did amazingly well at as she pretty much sucked at most of her classes. And with the reminder of O.W.L.s all the time from her professors it was just a reminder of how much torture she will be going through those days. But now her mind was trailing off of the subject she needed to stay on it, not space out.
“You know I’ve often thought about that,
” she started after she swallowed her piece of red juicy meat. “ And I don’t really know the answer to that question. I mean... I guess I really won’t know until I try and see the results right?” she said with a smile trying to keep herself cheerful. She tried to be her best to be optimistic, but often it didn’t work as she tend to think of the worst of situations. That was just how her whole life had been, the worse happening to her. Her father leaving her and her mom, her mom going in and out of jobs because she was a werewolf. Sabrina being partwerewolf and constantly feeling like it was her fault her father left. She had even managed to get a summer job at Quality Quidditch Supplies where the store owner didn’t mind that she was part-werewolf as long as she took her potion. “ I guess the results couldn’t be worse then what I’ve been through before right?” she tried to put on a small smile. It really didn’t surprise him that she had thought about it before. Surely there were a lot of things that Sabrina thought about and questioned when it came to being part werewolf. Nikko wasn’t entirely sure how he would have handled it if he were a werewolf, but when he did think about it, as he was doing now, he figured that he wouldn’t have worried over it as much as she did. Their circumstances were vastly different though. Nikko didn’t have anything to be worried about. His parents had always been accepting, and going even so far as to be supportive in most cases, of the things that he liked, and thus the person that he was so there wouldn’t be anything there. As for his friends there were so many flaws about him already that the ones that he presently had probably wouldn’t have cared if yet another was added to the mix. But he didn’t think that he would take any potion to keep himself in check. His parents had taught him to accept and love who he was and to do that would be to deny who he was. It didn’t matter though because the fact remained that Nikko was only human.
“That sounds about right.” Nikko agreed. He wouldn’t know what to do about it either. The only way to truly tell if something was worth it would be to get try and come to an end. The thing about that was would there ever be one? Douglas very well could hold her wolf side against her the rest of their lives and no matter what she did it got her nowhere with the boy. That wouldn’t be worth it, but really who was that stubborn? There was always something that you could do. Finding what it was that could be done was the problem. Nikko’s soup was nearly finished and the slight annoyance in his jaw was soothing with time. Talking with Sabrina had made him nearly forget that it had even happened in the first place. He wasn’t sure if that said something about how much of a good distraction Sabrina was or how much that guy had hit like a bitch, maybe it was both.
The results wouldn’t be worse than what she had been through, that part was true. But what would be worse was the psychological affect that trying so hard with nothing to show for it might have on her. All that stress wasn’t healthy. “Fair enough, just don’t let it consume you- its all I ask. And of course I’ll help you in whatever way I can.” Nikko flashed her that oh-so friendly smile of his giving her back a gentle pat of encouragement. He liked Sabrina, she was such a positive influence in his life and that was typically what Nikko surrounded himself with. It was all relative.

“That sounds about right” Sabrina smiled glad that Nikko agreed with her. He always seemed to be there for her, cheering her up when she needed it and just being her friend when many wouldn’t want a werewolf, even part, as their friend. It was always good for her to be around people like that and she couldn’t help but feel a lot better while talking with Nikko. She finished up her last piece of her steak before she grabbed a goblet of pumpkin juice and started to drink it. “ Fair enough, just don’t let it consume you- its all I ask. And of course I’ll help you in whatever way I can.” That was another thing about Nikko she liked, the fact that he cared for her and let her know that he did. She was glad to have met Nikko back during her first year and hoped that even after Hogwarts the two of them would stay being good friends.
“I solemnly swear to not let it consume me,
” she giggled after she finished drinking her pumpkin juice. Holding her hand up in the air as if she was getting sworn into some secret society. “ Well… I think I need to figure out how I want to confront him first before we try anything,” she said thoughtfully as she placed her hand back down. She was full now and the only thing that was keeping her in the Great Hall was talking with Nikko, which she figured was one of the best reasons to stay in the Great Hall, despite the fact that she got odd looks from people from time to time. Most likely the ones that were prejudice against werewolves and knew that she was half werewolf. “ But I don’t want to think about that right now,” she said happily, she wanted to focus on something else at the moment. “ What about you Nikko? Is everything here at Hogwarts treating you well? Minus the little bit with your jaw of course.” she asked him cheerfully. She knew that Nikko would recover from the punch, he always did. He had never been fond of the word solemnly, probably because he never had been a day in his life. It was amazing the layers of flippancy that Nikko had piled one on top of the other. It wasn’t healthy by any means but as long as it kept him and those that he cared about happy then who was to say that it wasn’t. Life did have its down sides but Nikko refused to focus on them. Some might have claimed that not everything could be made into a joke but he whole-heartedly disagreed and had made it his business in life to prove that theory incorrect. So far he had been doing a bang up job with it too. Luckily Sabrina seemed to be joking as one of those lovely musical giggles floated out of her mouth.
He nodded his agreement. Finding out how to confront the kid was definitely a priority. Though, admittedly, it was different from the approach that Nikko would have taken. He dove into things head first, completely blind with no real concern of the consequences of his actions. But that was the beauty about people, they were generally individuals and what worked for him, or on occasion didn’t, wasn’t necessarily the way that Sabrina would handle her situations. Nikko could understand her aversion to harping on the subject any longer and willingly let it drop.
Running a hand tenderly over his chin, minding his bruised jaw, he thought over what all he had done lately. Really nothing of interest- well at least not when it came to him and his outrageous tendencies. “Not bad actually. Doing my best not to flunk out, which you know pretty much means I wait until the last minute like always a crank out some bonda fide Nikko Linely brilliancy. Then there is my growing gambling ring in the Gobstones community, apparently gambling is illegal in Hogwarts.” Nikko shrugged. What was the worst that could happen to him to that? Detention, eh that wasn’t nothing new for him.

Normally when Sabrina finished her food she was usually hungry for more, but for some reason she wasn’t today and didn’t even take more, maybe it was because of the new moon that was coming up? She always knew that when it was getting close to the full moon she felt like she couldn’t stop eating. Did the moon affect every half-werewolf like that? Or just her? She wasn’t sure, nor was she about to go around and take a survey of it. “ Not bad actually. Doing my best not to flunk out, which you know pretty much means I wait until the last minute like always a crank out some bonda fide Nikko Linely brilliancy. Then there is my growing gambling ring in the Gobstones community, apparently gambling is illegal in Hogwarts.” Sabrina let out a small giggle about the last part he said. “How did not know it’s illegal at Hogwarts?
” she laughed lightly, imagining Nikko at a table with some other guys in the gambling ring, playing gobstones. “ But if you need any help with Potions, seriously just ask me. I’ve been told I’m a natural at it. Probably the only thing I’m really good at,” she laughed off lightly. Thought it was true. She wasn’t that great at any of her other classes, though a couple of them she was managing to pull E’s in, but Potions was probably the only class she’d bring an ‘O’ home in. She just hoped her mum would be alright with that. She reached for her goblet again, pouring some more pumpkin juice in before bringing it to her lips and taking a drink of it. She sat there, thinking a bit about her future. She was sure she would end up doing something with Potions seeing as that was the only thing she was really good at. “ Nikko… have you thought about what you want to do after Hogwarts at all?” she asked him curiously. Her giggle set a smile on his lips, broad and uninhibited. “My guess is it would have something to do with never reading the rule book.” While most first years were learning the dos and donts of Hogwarts Nikko had been blissfully ignoring everything that was said and neglecting his studies on the matter too. When it came down to that pop quiz at the end of the first week where every first year was suppose to know all the answers, or at least most of them, Nikko had gotten by with a just above passing grade and it had all been guess work using what little common sense that he had. It wasn’t like Nikko could help that his parents had raised him as somewhat of a beatnik and rules were loose, and in some cases non-existent in their household. He just applied it to school as well and considering that he was getting by perfectly fine there was no motivation to change any of these methods.
“I’ll hit you up on that come semester exams. I’ll definitely need a cram session by then.” Nikko wasn’t completely incompetent when it came to Potions. In fact there were a few that he was boss at but he was like a chef in a sense. He didn’t like using precise measurements but instead guessing, playing by gut instinct and instead of putting in a gram of this or an ounce of that Nikko preferred measurements like a pinch of this and a dash of that so it could often be problematic for him. Besides that if anyone could set him on the right path in potions Sabrina was so his girl.
Finishing up his own meal Nikko pushed his plate away so that his elbows could rest on the table in front of him instead. That was the million-dollar question for most students wasn’t it? What were they all going to do when they moved on in the future? What career would they be able to come back at reunions and brag about to all the people they had left behind? “I know that I want to work in medicine. Not entirely sure what field but I think I’d do decent with children. I have a feeling that I’ll be able to relate with them better than some of the stuck up docs they have treating them and if there is one thing I know how to do its bringing smiles to people’s faces. Sometimes that’s the best medicine, right?” He was a bit sentimental in that sense but hell he didn’t care. "How about you? Going to become a potions master and invent tons of nifty concoctions."

“My guess is it would have something to do with never reading the rule book.” Sabrina smiled. Leave it to Nikko to not read up on a rule book here or there. But she didn’t mind, she rarely read the rule books either. It wasn’t like she a prefect material anyways. Who would want a part-werewolf as a prefect? But she tried not to think about seeing as she didn’t want to be a prefect anyways. “I’ll hit you up on that come semester exams. I’ll definitely need a cram session by then.” and of course Sabrina would help him out in a heartbeat, after all he was one of the few that she would considered to be a close friend. She was always glad to have a friend like Nikko. Perhaps if she didn’t she’d probably had gone off the deep end with the situation that she was in. She’ll have to thank Nikko for always being there by getting him a really good Christmas Present. Perhaps a small bottle of Felicius Felix. Everyone would love to have that after all and of course Sabrina knew how to brew it.
“I know that I want to work in medicine. Not entirely sure what field but I think I’d do decent with children. I have a feeling that I’ll be able to relate with them better than some of the stuck up docs they have treating them and if there is one thing I know how to do its bringing smiles to people’s faces. Sometimes that’s the best medicine, right?” she nodded in agreement. She knew Nikko would be good in that field. She always felt that he was good at making people smile and indeed just being happy was a good medicine for if you were sad or angry you don’t always heal as quickly. “How about you? Going to become a potions master and invent tons of nifty concoctions.” she nodded letting him know that indeed she would want to become a potions master, but she wouldn’t want to end up being a professor later on. She knew how she’d get treated by those that knew the truth about her. “Yeah definitely. Then I can work at home on things without worry that I work with Prejudice people. I can always come up with potions that will help you out in the future,
” she winked lightly knowing full well that Nikko would definitely appreciate help in the future. “ But I don’t think I’d want to become a Professor or anything like that when I get even older. I don’t think I could handle working with some of the obnoxious kids the school has.” she said lightly. And by Obnoxious she meant the blood purists that disliked her for having tainted blood. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

It didn’t surprise Nikko that he was right on the money about what Sabrina planned on doing with herself later in life. She was damn good with potions so it just made sense that she would do something involving them. After all if his main motivation, besides that supposed rewarding feeling from doing something good, was that he would not only be doing something that he was good at, but also that he loved then wouldn’t it be the same for Sabrina, and in fact all people? There was that notion about pleasing parents and being what they wanted, but that wasn’t a concern that Nikko faced and with most things that didn’t pertain to his own life experiences he was egoistical. It wasn’t that Nikko was intentionally an ass- at least about not being able to relate- it was just that with someone that saw in metaphorical black and white like he did it was hard to look past his own tunnel vision. So, naturally, it didn’t cross his mind that there were other factors that might come into play.
“That sounds like a plan to me. Besides I would love advanced potions to help me heal people. And then when my fellow healers perk up asking why my abilities are so much superior than theirs I can just offer that sly smile and shrug. I’m sure eventually you’ll get the credit when you mass produce the potions but until then I would be more than happy to ride on your success.” He was teasing of course. Nikko wouldn’t ever purposely take Sabrina’s glory away claiming it as his own. That was level of douche that even he wouldn’t stoop to.
The mere notion of becoming a Professor had his nose crinkling up To deal with people like him and worse on a daily basis, for a living there wasn’t a snowballs chance in hell that Nikko would do something like that. “The only reason I would become a teacher here is to hook up with Professor Taylor.” Nikko whistled lowly, his own objectifying way of showing that he was fond of the lady. Van Halen had called it without a doubt; Hot for Teacher was indeed possible. His major, if not somewhat-or completely- inappropriate crush on Professor Taylor wasn’t exactly a secret. “Anyway I get what you mean, all hormonal teenage boy comments aside. A lot of these cats here have serious issues- and that prejudice shite you have to put up with-ooh I tell you Sabrina, they’re just cruisin’ for a bruisin’.” Nikko shook his fist at a non-discrete direction. He, being muggleborn had to deal with it too but that didn’t bother him as much as Sabrina having to put up with it.

I’m sure eventually you’ll get the credit when you mass produce the potions but until then I would be more than happy to ride on your success.” Sabrina let out another small laugh. She knew that Nikko would never really do that and if he did it would be on accident and all she would have to do was tell him and he’d stop instantly. But of course Sabrina would let him use her potions first, once they were perfect of course. But she wondered if she’d really be able to create her very own potion up. Yes, she has tweaked potions to make them better, but never had she tried to create her very own recipe for whatever thing she came up with. It was worth a shot to try something; it would probably be fun and most likely cause some explosions.
“The only reason I would become a teacher here is to hook up with Professor Taylor.” Sabrina rolled her eyes as she smirked Nikko’s comment. Leave it Nikko to only because a professor so he could hook up with Professor Taylor. “I don’t know, there’s too much competition for her,” she joked lightly. “ Anyway I get what you mean, all hormonal teenage boy comments aside. A lot of these cats here have serious issues- and that prejudice shite you have to put up with-ooh I tell you Sabrina, they’re just cruisin’ for a bruisin’.” Sabrina smiled at him, always glad that Nikko had her back. She knew that if someone wouldn’t leave her alone, that Nikko would be right there to tell them off. “Yeah… though some of them can’t completely help it as they grew up with the prejudice thoughts,” like her brother. Leave it to her father to put those thoughts in his mind.

Of course there was plenty of competition around this school, many-a-boys biding for her attention and Nikko didn’t blame them a single bit. His own chances of getting with her were completely delusional but he thought it healthy, as long as it didn’t become obsessive or aggressive, to have those unattainable dreams. It made it easier to accomplish the ones that were possible and keep trying to reach for the sky, at least in his opinion. “This is true.” As much as he might have been attracted to the woman Nikko never had any aversion to, as he did with most things, keeping it on a bright note. Laughing at himself his hands smoothed over the front of his proud Hufflepuff vest, straightening his posture and lifting his head up high. “But you never know. I could just be the man of her dreams. That sort of thing tends to sneak up on people, you know.” He was aware that love was often found in the most unlikely of places. Still Nikko knew better than to let a crush keep him from keeping open eyes.
Given that he viewed things in black and white Nikko couldn’t really see how prejudice was to be accepted regardless of the circumstances. It was a bit egotistical for him not to be able to put himself in other’s shoes and realize that they might have grown up a certain way and values were still values no matter how wrong or corrupt they were. Truthfully, Nikko didn’t care to even try and be sympathetic to that plight. “We all make our own choices despite influence.” Pleasing parents, keeping up with whatever current status quo was trendy, and modifying behavior to be liked were all things that Nikko had zero tolerance for. The boy may have been hypocritical, single minded, and a laundry list of other flaws but one thing that he never did was pretend to be someone that he wasn’t. Everyone got the same uncensored dose of Nikko Linely one hundred percent of the time.
