The entire year had proven to be one bore after the other. Even with the random attacks on people and that sense of fear looming over so many Bennett simply scoffed at it all. She was the uncaring sort, compliments of three years of sulking over something that shouldn’t have been that big a deal, but still was, at least to her. That icy sheen on her personality rivaling even the harshest of Slytherins, Benni just went about her frustrations in other ways. Rather than injuring people physically whether through brute strength or cursing them it was her surly behavior that stung them. Brooding had become rather iconic for the girl and Bennett was perfectly fine with that. It made the majority of people mind their own business and leave her well enough alone. Still there were a few who either didn’t know any better or found it amusing to poke the bear, so to speak- whatever the reason Benni was in a foul mood today, especially.
As she stood at the front door, leaving it wide open to let the winter chill inside, her arms crossed over her chest and decked out in the appropriate winter wear, she frowned at the merriment going on just outside. The doorframe was used as her personal leaning post intentionally being inconsiderate of those in the castle even receiving a few displeased glances, the occasional under the breath comment about how she was being rude, all of which Bennett ignored completely. Her mood made the atmosphere all that much colder. Benni felt like that fictional muggle character, Ebenezer Scrooge all Bah, humbug! About all the happiness that was around her.
It made perfect sense to everyone else perhaps, even Bennett that she should get over herself but for some reason she had always found it difficult. Maybe it was that she was so stubborn or that there was just simply too much teenage angst inside of her and hadn’t yet been enough of an outlet for her to properly express herself. It didn’t much matter either way because as it stood, Benni was the way that she was and didn’t care enough to try and appease those around her just because they didn’t like her. Seeing an overly cutesy couple holding hands, the girl giggling behind her hand in a pathetically disgusting display of coyness made her groan and roll her eyes. It was more likely than not that Bennett was just jealous but admitting that, even to herself was not an option.

As a part-Veela, Makenna had never truly been in want of something that was not easily available to her. If someone was immune to her charms, there was always someone else around the corner who would fall for them, so it had never truly been an issue with her. All she had to do was bat her eyelashes all pretty-like and guys came scampering. Sometimes, it was just too easy. However, as far as she and relationships went, Makenna was not necessarily the most committed person ever. As far as she saw, there was no point. For her, she was just in it for the fun. She never understood why people had to take it so seriously?
Needless to say, Makenna had never been a big fan of public displays of affection. In particular, she hated those couples that were cutesy, never the mind the ones who opted to be overly cutesy like the couple before her. Why was it that couples felt the need to be like that? Didn't they realize that nobody wanted to see crap like that? The Hufflepuff scowled at the sight as if her annoyed glare could suddenly induce a change of mind on their parts. Her past failures should have taught her that this time would be no different since the couple decided to be even more cutesy, if at all possible. Yuck.
Makenna had been thoroughly distracted in her thoroughly disgusted throughts of the couple walking ahead of her that she failed to notice the person who opted to block part of the doorway until she was nearly upon her. Since her mood was already sour, it wasn't hard for Makenna to make the leap to transfer her annoyance over to a Gryffindor. After all, the Hufflepuff already had very little fondness for Gryffindors in general. In her opinion, they were nothing but a self-righteous group of people who thought they were above everyone else. Well, Makenna the Hufflepuff wasn't about to let them get away with it in the name of 'fairness'. In fact, she took every chance she got to antagonize them. There was a little part of her that felt like it was fun.
Scowling at the Gryffindor and her inconsiderate behaviour, Makenna stopped in her tracks. “Move it,” she growled, refusing to walk past the narrowed entryway. The Hufflepuff looked down at the shorter girl with the flash of challenge in her eyes. While attempting to 'dispense' justice, Makenna failed to realize that she was doing almost the exact same thing as the girl before her, except she was blocking the entire doorway combined with the other girl.

Perhaps these were one of those rare cases of mistake identity or the other girl’s vision was shoddy, there just had to be some explanation as to why those two bluntly stated words had been uttered at her that was kosher. It wasn’t like anything about Bennett suggested that she was the type of person to respond kindly to such a thing, or that any favourable result would come of it- so for the life of her Benni simply could figure out what this girl’s motive was. Looking over her shoulder, not that it would make any difference as to who the chick was as to what Bennett was going to do about it, but for the sake of amusement she wanted to get a glimpse of her. Letting out a taunting half-laugh at the sight of the insignificant person, sure she might have had an inch or two on Benni, but other than that, in her eyes, there was absolutely nothing all that spectacular about her, certainly nothing that would warrant Bennett to move as was demanded.
”I’m sorry you must have me confused with someone who bends to your wiles.” Turning back to look out the door, no muscle so much as flinching to get out of the way for the girl, Benni waved a dismissive hand in the air. ”Go around.” It wasn’t that much of an inconvenience and had been the common decision of those before the girl to simply go around he. There hadn’t been a single one to flat out say anything to her or make too big a fuss. It was a disappointment really. At least when her bitter comments were made to people, rather than mere internal commentary, others had the benefit of enjoying, or possibly running away weeping like tiny infants, her witticisms. They were so often wasted on her alone. The prospect of having someone to banter with seemed infinitely better than sulking over happy couples for the remainder of her free time.
A lot of the reason why Benni was so hostile, aside from her relationship debacles, was that she had an awful tendency to get very bored. Sprucing things up with some riveting conversation, which she always used as a euphemism for heated arguments, was usually an agenda of hers. A desperate cry of attention or nothing more than her particular vice in life it didn’t matter and for all the self-analyzing in the world that wouldn’t change a single thing, so Bennett figured, why bother? So what if she was angsty and had a bad attitude, the only person that she was really hurting in the long run was herself and with her passive aggressive self-derivating mentality it suited her, and it suited her well.
The blonde girl probably had no clue what she had stumbled up on. That was really just as well because it was more likely a scenario than not that her guard wouldn’t be up, or if it was that she wouldn’t be expecting such a venomous response from a generally all around good-naturedness of her house. Bennett was a classic, cautionary tale of how people shouldn’t judge people by their houses.

In all honesty, Makenna had never thought too highly of Gryffindors in the first place. Of course, the Hufflepuff never made this opinion much of a secret. The part-Veela has put a great deal of time and effort, not to mention enjoyment in antagonizing Gryffindors whenever given the opportunity until her opinions became truth to some extent. But this was one of the few times that her opinion was actually reflected in reality beyond the delusions of her own biases and with minimal provocation. In many ways, it felt good to be right. But on the other hand, the Hufflepuff was peeved off at having to deal with a self-righteous Gryffindor. Hearing the Gryffindor’s derisive laugh, Makenna’s eyes narrowed in annoyance almost immediately. There was something about being completely disregarded and ridiculed that peeved her off to no end. Her constant need for attention paired with her immense pride, it was not difficult to see why this was the case.
”I’m sorry you must have me confused with someone who bends to your wiles.” Makenna scowled. Really, Gryffindors thought much too highly of themselves as this girl here exhibited. As if Makenna was even going to make the effort into using her charms against someone like a peevish Gryffindor whether they are of the male or female persuasion. In fact, the very thought disgusted her to no end. The very last thing she wanted was a Gryffindor puppy panting after her. “I’m sorry you must have me confused with someone who listens to you,” she mocked in a similarly degrading tone.
Makenna bristled at the direct order. Among many other things, the Hufflepuff also did not take orders very well. There were only a select few from whom the part-Veela took orders. “And that would be a no. Now move it blondie.” Her voice was solid and firm in its decision despite the fact that she was well aware of the fact that she was now committing a far worse offense by blocking all traffic. There was no way in hell that Makenna was going to move now. It was simply a matter of pride now. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem likely that this other girl was going to do as she said. Not that Makenna really cared. All she cared about was winning this arbitrary argument that she technically started. But in her eyes, Makenna saw herself as righting a wrong executed by a Gryffindor, or at least that’s what her original intentions had been. It was as plain and simple as that. It mattered very little to Makenna that her intentions had since then changed and the wrong she had intended on fixing was only worsening.
This blonde Gryffindor evidently had no idea who she was dealing with. But then again, neither did the Hufflepuff know who she was dealing with. Makenna wasn’t sure what she was more peeved off at: the fact that this Gryffindor didn’t know who she was dealing with or the fact that she was being a bitch and not listening to her as the Hufflepuff so strongly desired.

The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on Bennett. Whoever the Hufflepuff was, not that she cared nor foresaw herself caring in the future seemed to have the exact attitude as she did. It was like putting two equal forces together and watching them clash, though so far physical clashing was on standby. If Little Miss Attitude kept pushing her, there was no telling just how violent Benni would become. The benefits of not caring anymore meant that she got to lash out even if it was stupid or potentially dangerous. That kind of lack of self-preservation was a scary thing to most people and generally they avoided the confrontation. Bennett on the other hand welcomed it with open arms whether it was for entertainment or to blow some steam off. Laughing at the other girl’s hypocrisy the fact of the matter was that she wasn’t moving, and clearly not listening to her either.
This back and forth between them was childish and petty. Even though she had only been harassed by the girl’s annoyance of a presence for a minute, maybe less, Benni was already tiring of her. She had given the stubborn girl the option of going around but apparently the blonde thought that people needed to do as she said. It was almost amusing, if not for that nagging feeling in the back of her mind that had gnat qualities and was quickly being likened to the insignificant girl who seemed to think that she could demand things of Bennett. ”I have a theory, its about how idiotic you are. Would you like to hear it?” Bennett didn’t wait for an answer because whether the other girl wanted to hear it or not she was going to speak her mind, in bloody volumes.
”You want something you’ve got to settle with what you’re handed you twit. I’m not moving, you want out, so go around like I already told you to. Or are you too much of a cow to take those few extra steps rather than stand here and run that fat arse trap of yours off to someone who doesn’t give a flying fornication whether you get where you’re going or you stand there all day wasting away.” Benni didn’t sugar coat anything, the was a kindness and quite frankly she was a cold hearted bitch. If the bint had a lick of sense, which with each second that passed hope for that was being lost more and more, she would pick up on that little tid bit about Bennett.
[No worries]
