hannah yawned and rolled over, rubbing her eyes and sighing. she didn't usually like staying up too late, it made her wake up late and on a school day that was never a good thing..on a weekend, well, she felt that she'd wasted half the day if she woke up late. but for whatever reason this night, she couldn't sleep. turning over again she knew she couldn't lay here all night.
giving up, she yawned once more and sat up, pushing her long thick dark hair back off her face and rubbing her eyes once more. hannah glanced toward the other girls in her dorm room, noting how they all appeared sound asleep. she didn't wish to wake them or anything - not least because she knew they'd be grumpy if she did, and han didn't enjoy upsetting people. she didn't know why she'd want to wake them anyway, it would be kinda pointless to nudge them awake just to say she couldn't sleep. she guessed she rather felt like some company, but still...waking a friend up wasn't very fair.
hannah chewed her lip for a few moments, trying to decide what would be best to do, before giving up and figuring that perhaps she could head down to the kitchens for a drink or something. maybe a nice hot chocolate could settle her? she went there quite often, as she knew several fellow 'puff's did, and it was easy to understand why. the house elves were always so friendly, so eager to please and good company when you had nowhere else to turn. plus they made the most delicious hot chocolate - with whipped cream and marshmallwos ontop!
hannah smiled at the thought and pushed back the covers, rising to her feet which she slipped into her comfortable slippers. she couldn't be bothered to change, she didn't really expect to run into anyone on the way, but she dd grab her dressing gown to at least cover her pj trousers and tank top which she wore to sleep in. she tied the belt around herself and ran a hand through the tangle curls, pushing it out the way as the dark locks decided to fall forward as always. she pushed open the door quietly, trying not to make too much noise as she slipped out of the dorm room, down the stairs and through the common room.
it was silent, and she felt as though she should hold her breathe, taking a quick glance about to see that she couldn't see anyone else around - not like she expected to anyway. hannah exited the common room, taking a pause to ensure there weren't any teachers walking around the basement - she didn't wish to get in trouble for this - before she hurried quietly toward the kitchens and through the secret door. she grinned as immediately a couple of house elves greeted her, and before she knew it, she was seated comfortably on a seat, a steaming hot chocolate - with whipped cream and marshmallows on top - in hand...

as you walk on by | The Hufflepuff sighed as he stared up at the dark ceiling. Lately he had just not being able to sleep and for the past 3 nights he had gotten up and headed to the kitchen for his usual white hot chocolate. The guy couldn’t get enough of the hot creamy drink; it was beginning to become a habit of his; that he needed a drink of it before he could get to sleep. Looking over at the other boys, he heard the soft snoring coming from a couple of them. Will appeared to be fast asleep too.
He watched his best friend for a few minutes before getting out of bed ever so quietly. No matter how quiet he was, Will always seemed to know when Lou was out of bed. He hoped that his friend was in a deep sleep. Reaching for his Hufflepuff robe, he threw the robe on and shuffled out of the door. What time was it he wondered, looking at the dying fire, he knew it was late, perhaps around midnight, give or take an hour. Wrapping his robe around him tighter, he peered out of the common room, making sure the coast was clear before stepping out into the dark hallway. He was used to sneaking around, he had been doing a lot of it recently and not with going back and forth from the kitchen late at night. No he had to sneak around to see one of his good friends. All because of their shared love for animals that they formed a friendship. Of course being a typical Slytherin Marlon didn’t like the thought of the two of them being seen together and although it meant a lot more sneaking around, Louis didn’t really mind.
Getting to the kitchen, he took one more glance around before entering the open portrait. Most of the house elves were busy elsewhere, or sleeping. Did house elves even sleep? What a strange question to think of at this time of night. He took another step into the kitchen and an elf appeared at his side. "The usual thanks," he offered the small creature a warm smile before looking around, noticing for the first time that he wasn’t alone. "Oh, uh hi," he spoke softly as the house handed him a cup with his favourite drink in it. |

hannah sipped at her hot chocolate, watching as the houseelves bustled about her. she wondered if they ever stopped to rest..surely they must - nothing could stay on it's feet so so long before collapsing...and hogwarts had prided itself on taking good care of their elves for years - treating them well. whenever she came down here they were always busy, whether they happened to be cooking or making her a drink or just cleaning up. well whenever they slept they always seemed happy and well rested, she could only presume they slept at weird hours to the students.
she hadn't expected anyone to be around at this time, usually whenever she headed down to the kitchens she was alone. she came to get away or to relax. it was a place few people ever ventured to very often, and so if she timed it right she could usually have the kitchens to herself. not that she minded company, hannah was a rather sociable person even throughout the troubles people had brought her in the past..she disliked being alone, if she was honest it was because she had abandonment issues, she just liked to think it was because she enjoyed peoples company. but sometimes it was nice to be able to hide in here, away from the people who liked to pick on her.
"The usual thanks," hannah jumped as she heard a second voice, this one male, speak. she'd been looking across the kitchen, watching the house elves work, not thinking that perhaps some other person had been having trouble sleeping. she blinked and turned her head, glancing toward the door as a house elf delivered a mug into the boys hands. she glanced over him quickly, catching the hufflepuff emblem on his robes and recognising him to be a fellow fifth year. she knew his name was louis, and that he was a weasley but she hadn't ever spoken to him before.
she gave him a small smile, noticing that he was rather cute, and she self conciously pulled her dressing gown around her more, trying to be inconspicious. "Oh, uh hi," she guessed he hadn't expected to see anyone up at this time either and her smile was a little shy as she responded, "hey... you couldn't sleep either?" she asked quietly, guessing that perhaps he didn't make a habit of coming down every night for a hot drink. she took a sip of her own, settling in the seat and wondering if he was going to stay or walk off now that he'd seen she was here too .. she hoped he stayed, she wouldn't mind a light conversation or something. "i'm hannah by the way...hannah walsh." she introduced herself, figuring that although they were in the same classes he might not know her name - she did tend to go unnoticed, not helped by the fact she was bearly 5ft1.

as you walk on by | Louis looked the girl up and down, he couldn’t help it, she was pretty after all. He knew of her, she was in his year and house he just couldn’t quiet remember her name. Maybe it was the late hour and lack of sleep he had been getting or maybe it was because he never really spoke to the girl alone. Still when she smiled at him, he returned it; giving her the warm smile he had given the house elves. At least she was no Slytherin or prefect; he was safe from them at least.
"hey... you couldn't sleep either?" He heard the kindness in her voice, the warmth and love or what he assumed anyways. Taking a sip of his drink, he shook his head. "For the past three nights I’ve not been able to sleep properly. Hot chocolate always seems to help though," he replied, "Although I have no idea why I can't sleep, I’ve nothing stressful in my life, well except for the OWLs but they're still a long way away, maybe it’s because the weather's getting colder." Why the hell was he rambling, he didn’t usually talk much. Instead he was the one that blended into the background, along with his sister, but something about this girl just made him talk and not shut up.
He watched her settle into one of the seats and boy did those seats look ever so comfy. She wouldn’t mind if he stayed right? Moving over to the other chair he sunk into it, ah yes they were indeed comfy. Hannah Walsh, she said her name was. "Louis Weasley," he shot back although he knew most people would have already known that. It was kind of hard not to with having such a large family. Maybe that’s why he was quiet all the time, he just could be bothered competing with his cousins for attention. "So any particular reason why you couldn’t sleep?" he asked her, of course if it were too personal he would understand if she didn’t feel like telling him. Maybe she wanted to be left alone, or maybe she didn’t want to talk, that was fine too, he was used to sitting alone in silence, it was safer for him, at least he thought so anyways. Well safer for him and unsuspecting females. Half the time he wished his mother was not part veela or he'd wish the genes were only passed down to females. Unfortunately he was blessed and cursed with the veela genes as well. Glancing down at his cup, he took another sip of it, letting the warm liquid run down his throat, somewhat soothing him. |

as she noticed him looking her up and down, she couldn't help but blush faintly. she wasn't used to guys looking her up and down or well...looking at her at all really. she'd never thought herself to be anything further than plain, and she knew she was nothing compared to all the other girls out there. she wasn't tall and legging or curvy, she was just small. she didn't mind though, she wasn't someone who really cared about 'getting all the guys', but it meant that if by some chance a guy perhaps complimented her or looked her up and down she'd blush ... especially if it was a cute guy like this one.
"For the past three nights I’ve not been able to sleep properly. Hot chocolate always seems to help though," hannah bit her lip and looked at him, three nights? damn that must be infuriating. "Although I have no idea why I can't sleep, I’ve nothing stressful in my life, well except for the OWLs but they're still a long way away, maybe it’s because the weather's getting colder." she smiled lightly and gave a small nod. "yeah ..sometimes it's the smallest thing that can interrupt your sleeping pattern...but the hot chocolate's certainly worth it," she said lightly, grinning, sympathetic toward him. she found it infuriating enough when she couldn't sleep for one night, three nights must be annoying the heck out of him. well...she didn't really know if he was the kind of person to get irrtated like that or not, but three nights was annoying as ever.
"Louis Weasley," she smiled gently and nodded, "i know," she said quietly with a grin, sure that he got that a lot - everybody knew the weasley's ..well and the potter's as well. she watched as he took the seat opposite her, glad that he'd decided to stick around, she was already starting to like louis, he seemed like a nice guy. "So any particular reason why you couldn’t sleep?" hannah shook her head and took a sip of her drink, shifting in the chair to curl up comfortably. "nah no particular reason just..couldn't seem to sleep," she smiled slightly and gave a small shrug, wrapping her hands around the mug to warm up slightly and looking across at louis.

as you walk on by | He nodded, the tiniest thing could interrupt sleep. He wondered if that was his problem. Well it wasn’t the snoring from the other fifth year boys, and like he had said, it wasn’t because he was stressed about his OWLs. Perhaps his mind was simply too active to consider sleep. No that wasn’t it, he didn’t usually think of anything in bed, well besides wanting to sleep. Maybe he'd never find out why he hadn’t been sleeping well. Hopefully it would pass soon and he's sleeping patterns would go back to normal, Merlin he hoped they would. he couldn’t keep sneaking out of the Hufflepuff common rooms every night. Prefects would catch on, especially Will and he didn’t really want to be caught, having pointed docked and get detention because of it. "Yea it definitely is," he replied. Hot chocolate could solve everything, much like chocolate and ice cream could for girls, his vice was white hot chocolate. It was his comfort drink so to speak.
Oh so she did know who he was. Sometimes he wondered if people knew who he was, he didn’t look exactly like a typical Weasley, he didn’t have the flaming red hair most were known to have, but he did have the blue eyes. He looked more like his mother's side of the family, just like his two sisters did, guess the blonde genes was more dominant than the red. He was glad he didn’t look like his cousins though. Oh don’t get him wrong, he loved them all to pieces, even though there were times he didn’t like the whole Christmas or family get togethers, but he'd do just about anything for his cousins.
She had no particular reason why she couldn’t sleep either. Huh seemed like whatever was keeping him awake, must be keeping her awake as well. "Well then we are certainly lucky the kitchens not too far away from the common room," he spoke after a moment, before the lull of silence once more took over. It wasn’t an awkward silence though, more like a comfortable one, one where you got with a best friend or something.

"Yea it definitely is," she smiled and nodded, feeling glad that he agreed with her. so many people thought coffee or pumpkin juice or - the older students - thought firewhisky was the best drink. they were so wrong; not that hannah had ever been daring enough to try firewhisky and compare it, but she figured it wouldn't be as nice anyway. she wasn't exactly a very daring person, was han. she was adventurous to an extent, but she just wasn't daring enough. besides, with her happy-go-lucky nature alcohol wasn't going to be a good idea, she'd be tipsy within two sips, and probably on the floor within the whole glass. not that she was sure other people would find that rather entertaining but she didn't fancy it, she'd rather stick to the hot chocolate.
"Well then we are certainly lucky the kitchens not too far away from the common room," hannah smiled and nodded, "very lucky...otherwise i'm sure i'd have been caught by now by a prefect or professor," she said lightly, knowing that had their common room been in one of the towers perhaps she would never have made it down even once without someone catching her. she had a habit of being a little bit clumsy, and so trying to get from a tower all the way down would probably result in tripping over something and sending everything crashing to the floor, and then some prefect would come along, rumble her and knowing her - deduct her a hundred house points and everyone would hate her.
they drew into silence for a few moments, but oddly enough - or so hannah thought - it wasn't uncomfortable. she didn't feel like she had to fish for a subject or anything..which she might have had to with someone else. she thought it'd be really awkward, but it was nice that it wasn't. she took a second to peek at louis, hoping he didn't catch her, taking it his blonde locks and alluring, honest blue eyes, wondering what it was about him that seemed to make her so at ease, enough to feel like they were already good friend. she took a deep sip of her hot chocolate now it was cooler, revelling in the warm delicious taste as it went down her throat. she glanced over to louis once more with a soft smile - yeah she smiled a lot, but she was just one of those people. she shifted, going to cross her legs comfortably on the seat and settle down slightly. "so what sort of things do you do outside of class?" she asked with interest, curious to know him more, so long as he didn't mind the questions.

as you walk on by | He’d be with her on that one; he'd have more than likely ended up being caught by someone. But then his sneaking around had gotten better, thanks to Marlon. Still if their common room was up in the towers like Gryffindor and Ravenclaw ones were there was no way he'd be able to make it down to the kitchens without any drama. He nodded to her.
His gaze shifted to around the kitchen. He wondered how in Merlin's name the house elves could get all the food prepared in such a short amount of time, especially breakfast. Maybe they stayed up all night and cooked and slept during the day when their services were needed. He wasn’t willing to ask an elf either, he thought it would be too rude to do so. Her voice startled him. He hadn’t expected her to speak for a while. What did he do outside of class? Well besides sneaking around to see his Slytherin friend, heaps. "Oh uh well there's always hanging out with friends, and occasionally family. I also like to fly, I’m not as good as some, I only made reserve keeper in quidditch, but it’s better than not getting on the team," he paused, taking a mouthful of his drink before continuing, "oh and I love playing with the animals, just the other week I was honoured enough to pet a unicorn foal." He had a huge grin. Unicorn foals were rare to see but to actually touch one, to have one allow it to be touched by a male was simply breathtaking.
Louis looked up at her, would she find any of what he said interesting. He didn’t think she was the type to finding flying interesting, but then he knew not to judge people from their appearance. Perhaps she was an avid fan yet didn’t like boasting about it. "What about you, what do you like to do?" he asked without thinking. It just slipped out of his mouth. Ah well she had asked first, it was only far for her to answer the question as well. |

when she saw the faint surprise on his face she wondered if he hadn't expected her to ask or something - then again the quiet hadn't been uncomfortable or anything, but still, she was a sociable person and she was interested to learn more about louis. "Oh uh well there's always hanging out with friends, and occasionally family. I also like to fly, I’m not as good as some, I only made reserve keeper in quidditch, but it’s better than not getting on the team," hannah smiled lightly and nodded, friends were always good... family, she couldn't say she had any really. her parents had left her at a kids home when she was five, and she didn't really remember them - she'd never been fostered or close enough to the other children, who'd mostly been horrible, to call them family.
she felt a sliver of admiration for him for being on the quidditch team - even if he was a reserve she thought that was still pretty cool. "you're on the team? that's cool." she said with a grin as he paused. "i've never flown myself, but you must be pretty good," she said lightly, taking a swig of her drink. she'd always been too afraid to fly, even in those compulsory lessons, she'd freaked out so badly they'd always let her off. she didn't really understand why she was so afraid, and nobody had ever tried to coax her onto a broomstick properly. perhaps someone would one day, but for now, she was keeping her feet firmly on the ground.
"oh and I love playing with the animals, just the other week I was honoured enough to pet a unicorn foal." hannah's eyes widened - almost comically - and she leant forward without realising on her seat in amazement. "oh wow! you did?! that's amazing! what was it like? i've never even seen a unicorn.." okay so maybe she was one of those guys who did like unicorns and the colour pink an' all but still ... seeing and even getting to touch a unicorn was an incredible priveledge, particularly for a guy too. "What about you, what do you like to do?" she smiled lightly, not having really expected him to ask in return but glad he did. "well ... i uhm .. i like muggle sports.." she blushed faintly, "like horse-riding and ball games and such.." she said, looking down into her cup almost in embarrasement. in honesty, not many people were accepting of muggleborns, and she'd just made it rather obvious that that was what she was. she liked this guy, she didn't want him to get scared away.. she could explain muggle things easy, but she couldn't take it when people where mean about muggles and muggleborns. not that she did much about it - she was always too timid to fight back.

as you walk on by | "You're on the team? That’s cool." He shook his head softly, he wasn’t exactly on the team, he was only an alternative player. He was good enough to fly, but wasn’t good enough to make the proper team. He figured Lyra had a lot to do with him getting the reserve position too, he doubted very much that if someone else was the captain, he would never have gotten it. "I'm only a reserve, I don’t get to play all that much, but my cousin Lucy's is on the team as a full time player," And just about every other Weasley and Potter were on the other teams, well mainly the Gryffindor team, but that’s when the school got for having the majority of his family in the house of Gryffindor.
Oh she's never flown, did that mean she didn’t do that good in the first year's flying lessons? Maybe she needed more time that others to get the hang of a broom, not everyone could get the hang of it the first, second or even third time, take a look at Aubrey for example, a friend of the family's and yet she wasn’t so great at flying. Still she enjoyed quidditch and commentating on it, so it worked out there. "I could take you flying if you want," the offer slipped from his mouth before he could stop it. What was it about this girl that was so easy to talk to, that made him feel completely at ease...well ok not completely, but he felt comfortable in her presence.
"Oh wow! You did?! That’s amazing! What was it like? I’ve never even seen a unicorn.." He couldn’t help but chuckle, she sounded so excited and in truth he had been too, but she took excitement to a whole new level. "It was...soft," he spoke, "I mean the foal was soft to touch and the moment was just so tranquil." There was not enough words to describe how glorious it had been.
Muggle sports? Well now that was something he wasn’t very familiar with, just how did one play muggle sports, he wondered. "Tell you what, I’ll take you flying and go sightseeing for unicorns if you teach me how to play those muggle sports, how about it?" he asked, giving her the option to say no if she wanted to.

she watched him shake he head and gave him a slightly quizzical look as if to ask why he was doing that. "I'm only a reserve, I don’t get to play all that much, but my cousin Lucy's is on the team as a full time player," she shrugged lightly and smiled, "but you were good enough to get reserve, i think that's still pretty cool." she said lightly, surely reserve was good? it was pretty much on the team wasn't it? she thought so, and she still thought it was awesome that he was on the team, you had to have some skills to get on it - reserve or full member. she knew that a lot of the weasleys were on the teams and all seemed to be pretty decent flyers but still, she thought it was a skill.
she looked to louis in surprise as he said, "I could take you flying if you want," blinking slightly she gave him a warm smile and a slightly shy nod, "thank you.. that'd be nice.." she hoped he'd meant it, and it wasn't one of those offers people sometimes made out of courtesy. it'd be nice to have someone help her learn, particularly someone she trusted... she wasn't sure why she had suddenly decided to trust louis so explicable, but she had and she felt that it was okay to trust him.. that he wasn't going to turn around and say something mean. maybe it would be fun, learning to fly... she'd be nervous but .. maybe it'd be okay with him...
she blushed as he chuckled at her enthusiasm and ducked her head slightly in faint embarrasment, she hadn't meant to be like that but... well she couldn't it. "It was...soft,"she peered up at him with a soft smile, "I mean the foal was soft to touch and the moment was just so tranquil." her smile became a gentle grin and she gave a small nod, wondering what that must have been like, caught in her thoughts and finishing her drink in the quiet for a moment, almost jumping when louis spoke up. "Tell you what, I’ll take you flying and go sightseeing for unicorns if you teach me how to play those muggle sports, how about it?" she grinned lightly and gave a slightly shy nod.. nobody had ever really wanted to hang out before well.. not a cute guy anyway. "yeah that sounds like fun," she said gently.

as you walk on by | He couldn’t help the slight tinge of pink that spread over his cheeks. Although he was just a reserve, she still thought it was 'pretty cool'. No one that he knew of ever said that, well ok, perhaps he had heard some of his family say that, but they were meant to. But someone he barely knew had praised him for being an alternative player. He wondered if she actually saw him play the match they have recently had with Ravenclaw. He still hadn’t known what had happened to the normal keeper but he was happy to have played, his first proper game.
A look of surprise swept across her face. Was what he had asked too forward, ah man why did he always seem to screw it up when he spoke to females that were not related to him, and this time it wasn’t because he was worried about the damn veela charm. The smile that she gave him only confused him. Was she going to politely turn his offer down? He braced himself for the 'thanks but no thanks' rejection he knew was coming but when she opened her mouth and spoke, it was his turn to be surprised. She actually agreed. Wait he did hear right, his mind wasn’t playing tricks, she actually wanted to fly with him? It made him feel all warm and excited. He had never taken anyone flying before, it was going to be a new experience for the both of them. He almost missed her agreeing to teaching him how to play muggle sports. This was going to be so fun, he could already picture it and he'd finally be better at something that his cousins, not that he liked competing against them, but it would definitely feel like an achievement. He grinned at her, showing her that he was super excited. There was absolutely no way he was going to be able to sleep now, he thought.
Why was it so easy to talk to her, what made her different from the other girls, he wondered as he brought the cup to his lips and tipped the rest of the contents down his throat, enjoying the creamy sweet flavour of the chocolate drink. He stole a glance at her. She was pretty, not as beautiful as some of the girls, but then he always considered those girls to be fakes. No she had a natural beauty to her. "Hey just curious, did you uh wannagototheyuleballwithme," he spoke in a rushed and soft tone. Why the hell did he just ask her that, man she probably already had a date to go with. He barely knew her, although he wanted to get to know her more. That would have to make do as a reason for asking. He sucked in a breath and held it, waiting for her answer. |

she chewed her lip as she saw the pink tinge his cheeks, her own cheeks blushing slightly and she knew if someone had walked in they probably would have rolled their eyes and found it amusing. she was glad he seemed to like the compliment rather than being one of those people who kept opposing them, besides she thought it was true - she really did think it was cool that he was a reserve. she knew the stuck up types looked down on people who weren't on the team or where only reserves, but she didn't think it should matter - it was still something wasn't it; he was still good enough to get a reserve place, go louis she thought. she noted the surprise on his face as she accepted his offer to help her fly, and for her to teach him some muggle sports - already thinking over what sports she should teach him. probably all the ball sports... football would be easy enough to teach, rugby would be a little more difficult seeing as it would involve tackling each other and...well that might be a little awkward until they got used to each other some more - they could always try tag rugby which was just as fun. rounders, baseball, stoolball..they were all good sports too but would involve hunting up a bat, so would cricket - but they'd have to try that too seeing as it was typically english. she'd have to ask what louis wanted to do. whatever happened it was going to be brilliant fun, and she was already looking forward to it, glancing at louis and seeing his grin. she felt relief that he seemed just as excited as her and her own grin widened in return. she was a little nervous about flying but she was looking forward to it with louis there helping her, and teaching him would be great fun. she hoped they could do this soon, and she looked at him. "so uhm, when do you want to do this?" she asked, needing to know when so she could try and aquire some muggle balls and where they could practise..on the quidditch pitch maybe? she sat quietly for a few moments, wondering if either of them really wanted to go to sleep - she was enjoying sitting here with louis far too much, and he didn't seem to be all that bored either, and though she knew they should go to sleep some time she didn't want to part ways with him just yet. "Hey just curious, did you uh wannagototheyuleballwithme," it'd come out of nowhere, and she hadn't expected it, her eyes widened in surprise, somehow managing to pick up his jumbled words and she looked at him, a surprised, slightly shy grin flickering over his face. "sure, i'd love to..." she said lightly, blushing faintly. she hadn't expected him to ask her, heck she hadn't expected anyone to ask her, she hadn't been planning on going..but now...well she was really excited about going, especially with louis. ooc , awwe so cute hmm should we start a ball thread with them too oooor wait till this one's done oooor?

as you walk on by | He was just that excited that he almost missed what she had said, when did he want to do this thing? Well he thought, that was a tough question cause as much as he wanted to spend time with her, although he still couldn’t figure out why, he also didn’t want her to fall ill from the cold weather and the snow outside. Sure they could use warming charms, but there was still the fact that they'd probably enough up soaked in melted snow and ice and wet clothes was definitely not fun. "Uh well perhaps we could start it as soon as the snow melts and the temperature starts to warm up a little," he suggested, allowing her to have her own input if she wanted. Did she think that was too late, waiting for the change of season, it was like another 2 months away, but he prayed that this year’s winter wasn’t a long one, he hoped the snow begun melting soon because he really wanted to learn those muggle sports.
It felt like time had stopped as he waited patiently for her answer. Louis expected her to say no, after all they weren’t exactly friends and their only conversation had been that night. He had been far too forward in asking her out, perhaps he should have asked if she wanted to go as just friends, that would have sounded much better, but those words had come out of his mouth like word vomit and he couldn’t snatch them back up and shove them back down his throat. Maybe she thought he had meant friends, maybe she already had a date to it, it was so nerve wracking going over every possible scenario in his mind. And then she spoke, 4 little words. He blinked, did he just hear right, did she just agree to go with him? He had just snagged himself a date for the Yule ball, this was going to be so fun, he thought and he wasn’t one for those type of things. At least he wouldn’t be trying to blend into the wall. Oh he would have gone, he wanted to show his support for his house. Although it had been his cousin that had been chosen for Gryffindor, Dunstable was still somewhat family, even if they didn’t share the same blood. "Awesome," he replied, grinning from ear to ear, feeling like a complete dork, but a happy dork nonetheless.
((uh we could start a thread for the ball. and yush the are cute )) |

she grinned at his excitement and was glad; least he was being genuine which she admired about him. so many people, especially guys, were incredibly dishonest..but louis didn't seem like that at all and she liked him for it. she was so glad that he was excited, because she was just as eager. "Uh well perhaps we could start it as soon as the snow melts and the temperature starts to warm up a little," she smiled lightly and nodded in agreement, thinking over how cold and wet it was outside. "yeah good idea, it would be pretty hard playing football in the snow..." she half teased, grinning but knowing it was true..they couldn't kick a ball about in the deep snow and they're freeze their feet off way too fast.
she barely even had to think about her answer, saying yes almost immediately. mostly because she didn't want him to have to get nervous, or think that she was going to say no. she wouldn't say no, odd perhaps, because she'd never met him before today, and this was their first conversation. but she couldn't help but feel some sort of connection with him... she was already starting to like him, and though she was unsure if he meant friends or maybe...as a date, she was happy to go with him anyway. she rather hoped he meant as a date, because he really was cute and she would have loved to get to know him better as more than a friend...but as friends would be just as cool. "Awesome," she grinned when he grinned, unable to help herself from grinning just as widely as him and blushing slightly.
at least something good at come out of this evening, her inability to sleep had sent her here and now she'd met louis weasley. she watched the elves scurrying around, wondering what they were doing, but she said nothing for the moment, peacefully quiet. that was when she noticed the time - it was almost 2am...how she'd been here for that long around she had no idea, but she blinked and shifting, pulling her dressing gown around herself as it shifted, a little self concious still nonetheless, and she smiled as louis. "hey, it's gone two.... think we should call it a night soon?" she said lightly with a grin, not minding staying up a little while longer but knowing they would both have class in the morning.
ooc , hehe okiee xD you wanna start it or should i?

as you walk on by | He wasn’t going to argue with her on that one. He had no idea what football was or how to play it but he figured any sport that didn’t involve flying on broomsticks would almost be impossible to play in the snow. Heck even quidditch was a challenge when the flakes fell during a game. The cold biting wind, the inability to see because of frost breath fogging up the view. It was hard to catch the ball or grip a beaters bat with freezing fingers, he didn’t think that would be any different with muggle sports.
"Hey, it's gone two.... think we should call it a night soon?" What, he thought, they had spend so long without realising the time. But he still didn’t feel tired. Maybe it was the thought of doing all those things that they had talked about with her. He was finally going to learn muggle sports. Had she said it because she was tired? He felt guilty for keeping her up, but there was nothing stopping her from leaving right? "Time surely flies when one is having fun," he spoke, "I'll probably regret not sleeping later, especially in history of magic, but this has been fun and surprisingly I’m not tired yet," he replied with a smile. He could have stayed here chatting to her until breakfast, but classes, he was dreading those. All he'd want to do is sleep in them, something that he done every so often but didn’t like making a habit out of it. "I guess we should go, let the elves have a bit of peace," he added after a moment as he glanced at the elves. He held the empty mug out and soon one elf took it. "Thank you, that was delicious as always," he offered a warm, bright smile as the house elf bowed before taking the mug away.
Louis did not want to get up, exhaustion would most likely overcome him if he did and he was simply comfortable sitting here with the house elves busying themselves around him and he quiet enjoyed her company, both when they were talking and when they weren’t. He still couldn’t believe she had agreed to go to the ball with him; quiet, somewhat shy Louis Weasley. It seemed all surreal. He sighed, figuring he might as well get up, try and get as much sleep as he could before either the sun forced him away or his friend. He didn’t really think of his next actions and he wondered where they came from, but he had moved towards her and offered her a hand to help her up. Maybe it was the French genes in him that was showing, maybe it was something else. "Shall we go?" he asked.

when he didn't say anything she figured he was agreeing with her - in honesty it would be almost impossible to kick a football through drifts of snow, and it'd be freezing. it would be much easier to play it when there was no snow - especially as knowing her, hannah would probably get caught up in trying to throw a few snowballs playfully louis' way. she wasn't exactly bold, but the more she got to know people, the more open she became, and she was generally pretty light-hearted and playful...and there was something about louis that was causing her to open up pretty damn fast.
she almost didn't want to point out the time, she didn't want this little meeting to end. if she thought she could stay up the rest of the night and the whole of the day she might have suggested they just pull an all-nighter...but han knew what she was like, and she didn't doubt she'd end up zoning off in class and getting in trouble for it. "Time surely flies when one is having fun," she grinned lightly and spoke in agreement, "it sure does." she hadn't met someone this nice who grabbed her interest so fast in..well..forever. "I'll probably regret not sleeping later, especially in history of magic, but this has been fun and surprisingly I’m not tired yet," she blinked and smiled in return, surprised that he felt the same way as her and delighted. "yeah better not get ourselves a detention or anything," she said lightly - one because she tried hard to avoid them, and two because a possible punishment could be missing the ball and now she had louis to go with she didn't want to miss it for the world.
"I guess we should go, let the elves have a bit of peace," she hadn't thought about that and she instantly felt guilty for not having done so. "oh yes, of course.." she said lightly and smiling as a couple of elves headed her way, thinking she might want something more but she shook her head lightly. "thank you for the hot chocolate, it was excellent." she complimented them honestly and watched as they grinned happily and thanked her in return, then she made to give them a little wave and watched them head away. she smiled at louis, seeing him in the same position as her - not quite wanting to stand yet. she knew tiredness would sweep over her once she stood and she was reluctant to.
she watched him stand and figured she should too, but suddenly he was offering her a hand to help her stand. a small blush crept along her cheeks and she gently placed one of her hands in his own warm hand and stood, feeling a small spark from their moment of contact and surprised at it. she glanced at him with a small, slightly shy smile, and nodded in response to his question. "Shall we go?" it was then that she realised her hand was still in his and she hesitated, not quite wanting to let go of his hand, never having had someone be gentlemanly like that to her, nor having felt that kind of spark before and she glanced at him, quite sure he probably wanted his hand back already.
ooc , you already did : P
