flightless birdin general, 'sneaking out' and 'ravenclaw' were not two words that were used in the same sentence, but tonight, the ravenclaw student nikita wynter, was sneaking out. not everyone in the house of ravenclaw was a 'good-two-shoes'. okay, practically no one was. they were smart, not suck ups. and once in a while even the students in the smart house needed a break. nikki had been sneaking out of the school at night once or twice a month since her second year at the school, when she'd stopped cowering at every little bump in the night and built up the courage to venture beyond the safety of four walls. there was something peaceful about the nearly full moon hanging above her head on a cloudless night, the owls flying overhead and the soft 'whos' to be heard among the trees that surrounded the lake from owls... were she younger everything might have spooked her, but she'd built up a tolerance to the creepy in her last five years. she wasn't a kid any more.
it was past midnight when she snuck out of the ravenclaw commons room. she'd stayed up late, watching student after student trickle off to their beds and rest while she pretended to be working on an essay for potions class. the parchment in front of her, however, had not a single drop of ink on it. she stayed in the commons room, watching the flickering fire for about twenty minutes after the last student wandered away to their dorm, before crumpling the paper into a ball and tossing it into the flames to watch it turn into ash. a few moments later she gathered up her wand and snuck out of the common room to the hall beyond the tower: empty, of course. even the prefects were likely curled up in their beds by now, unless they were some ambitious seventh years. the ravenclaw commons room was a far ways from the entrance to the school, and it would be near impossible to get out of the school for some fresh air if not for a passageway she'd discovered in her second year. rather, she'd been told about it by an older student. there was no way a second year would have stumbled across the passageway by accident.
tip-toeing past the sleeping portraits, nikki made her way to a suit of armor in the hall. by tapping her wand against the handle of the sword in the armor's grasp, it pulled away from the wall and revealed a passageway within. a muttered 'lumos' and about five minutes of walking brought her to the end of the passageway: a broom cupboard near the school's entrance. from there it was free access to the outdoors.
she knew where she wanted to go, so as soon as the cool november air hit her face she set a course for the lake and the trees that surrounded a small portion of it near where the care of magical creatures class was held. there was always a chance of seeing some fantastic magical creature out there, which was something nikki always looked for. to a girl who had lived her life with such creatures as dogs and horses, however awesome they were, there was something spectacular about every magical creature that existed. like something out of a fairy tale. she loved sighting them.
she took a seat on the cold earth near the edge of the lake, listening to the water wash up against the shore. it was a beautiful day; barely any wind and not a cloud in the sky to impair her vision of the moon and the thousands of stars dotting the sky. completely peaceful. that was why the crack of a twig nearby startled her so much. she turned to gasp in surprise at the creature who'd decided to pay her a visit tonight, though it was more likely the unicorn was just in the area and stumbled across the young girl. looking over her once, and remembering the comc lesson on unicorns, nikki could identify it. it had a horn, and was whiter than white... at least seven years old, one of the older unicorns at hogwarts. nikki stood, standing perfectly still as she watched the creature, feeling that it was watching her just as carefully. she took a step forward, and when the unicorn simply stood there, another. the creature was the one who took the next step, close enough that nikki could reach out and touch it if she wanted to. it was at times like these that the muggle born thanked the lord that she had not been born a male. if she were, the creature would have bolted the moment she noticed it. she lifted her right hand cautiously, placing it gently on the creature's mane.
there was contact for about one second before the unicorn stiffened, looking over nikki's shoulder at something in the woods beyond. she turned her neck to look, but through the darkness of the trees could see nothing herself, and while her attention was on the forests there the unicorn slipped out from under her hand, running away with barely a sound. something out there must have startled it... nikki was torn between looking after where the unicorn had disappeared and looking at the trees where something had startled the creature, so her eyes kept nervously darting back and forth. suddenly the lake didn't seem so peaceful. words-1152, tag-jasper!, outfit-see the picture, with ravenclaw mitts and a scarf, notes-n/a |

The ake looked oddly peacful as Jasper walked alongside the banks that boarded the deep, seemigly dark lake. The way the water moved, the ripples forming in circles on the surface of the water as fish came up for air, creatures of the magical lake, and things that no wizard had ever seen lurked below the surface of the lake. He smiled as he ran a hand through his hair, thinking that he was alone and no one would be out here at this time anyway. Though he didnt really want to be alone, he could think of a person he wanted to be walking with right now, but he thought she was tucked up safe and warm in the ravenclaw tower, his head turning toward the caslte, his eyes sncanning the tower which held the ravenclaw common room and dorms.
He thought that was the worst thing in the world, shy did ha have to be going out with someone in ravenclaw. He had no problem with her house, and he had no issue with her being in it, but it would be easier if she was in gryffindor, but he loved her all the same, it would just mean they got to spend more time together, but that would change soon hopefully, what with the holidays and all coming up, he couldnt wait. He was going to see if she wanted to come back to his house for the christmas time at home, he knew his mother would love to meet her, and the rest of the people he knew seemed to like her too, so he hoped his mother liked her too.
He stopped when he smelt a familar scent, his nose knowing exactly who it was and a warm feeling spread through his body and he made to follow the scent that was so appealing to him, he grinned as he followed it, his eyes watching for any sign of her, his feet not making any sound as he moved and then he saw her, his eye smoving to the white beautiful creature standing with her though, the person standing next to the rare animal outshone it, and Jasper loved looking at her more than the horned animal. His eyes fell onto Nikki, his eyes not moving until he saw the quick and quiet movments of the unicorn as it scrambled away, obviously sensing he was here, and though Jasper wasnt being threatning, but he could understand why it had run.
He walked forward to Nikki, and he moved to wrap his arms around her waist, hoping not to scare her and he moved to whisper in her ear. "Sorry I scared it away Nikki . . " He said gently, truly sorry he had ruined her chance at getting to have a Unicorn as a friend, after all, wasnt that every girls dream? He pressed his lips to her cheek in a gently way, his mouth in a smile as he looked at her face. "Although . . myth is wrong . . unicorns arent the most beautiful thing in nature . . " He said, his voice soft, with a hint of flirtation, and adoration in his voice. "You are . . "

flightless birdthe moment nikki recognize the shape that made its way out of the trees into her line of vision, a grin filled her face. it was like a wave spread throughout her limbs, relaxing every muscle that had nearly been poised to make her run as fast as her legs could carry her a few moments before. she couldn’t help her reaction from earlier… there were creepy things that lurked in the forest. sure, the giant spiders she’d heard so much about existed deep in the forbidden forest where she dared not venture, but there were other creatures that lurked in the forests and came out to play during the nights. not to mention that she expected other students, especially the older ‘more mature’ ones, might have the same ideas as she about sneaking out after dark. nikki knew that not all of them were fond of her… there were many students, especially in slytherin, who scared the hell out of her just because she was a muggleborn and they hated that. if something startled a beautiful unicorn into running away, it was nikki’s instincts to run.
when she recognized jasper, though, she instantly felt safe. calm. relaxed. he always had that sort of an effect on her, even in the dead of night because… well, she wasn’t sure why. he was just so sweet and strong and brave… and of course, those were bonuses on top of the fact that she was quite sure she had the best looking boyfriend in the entire fifth year. she didn’t let his last name or blood phase her. that wasn’t who he was, and in a weird way, to the muggle girl from a completely normal, non-magical background, being able to say ‘i have a werewolf boyfriend’ was a pretty damn awesome thing to do. even if he was just half a werewolf… she didn’t mind, either way. you’d have to be an idiot to let something someone couldn’t control drive you away from them, right? being half a werewolf didn’t make him very dangerous… besides, he was the sweetest boy in the world to her and she was entirely confident that he would never, ever hurt her.
"sorry i scared it away nikki . . " her smile was still on her lips, the sound of his voice in her ear as soothing as the silence had been five minutes earlier. sure, they hadn’t been dating for ages, but she still didn’t think she could ever tire of being in his arms or around him and how secure she felt in his presence. that crippling crush that she’d had on him for months before they’d started dating… it had all paid off, and she pretty much thanked the lord that she was so lucky to get a guy like him every day.
the kiss on her cheek made her blush, a habit she still hadn't been able to break herself out of, but when he said next made her cheeks flood with even more color. hopefully in the darkness of the night he wouldn't be able to notice. "although . . myth is wrong . . unicorns arent the most beautiful thing in nature . . you are . . " ”isn’t that right out of the ‘boyfriend’s handbook of things to say to make your girlfriend melt’?” she teased, but everything about her, her tone, her smile, the look in her eyes, told that the compliment had worked. some girls hated boys who were ‘too loving’ and ‘too affectionate’, but nikki rather liked it. it made her feel valuable to him, when he could have any other girl he wanted, and she loved that. “that book was a very good investment.”
”unicorns are amazing, but i’d take your company over theirs anyway,” she told him, placing a light kiss on his lips. unicorns were by far her favorite magical creature, but jasper was by far her favorite magical creature, and sorry to the beautiful animals, but he by far trumped them. it sucked, that they weren’t in different houses… meeting jasper was the only thing that had ever made her dislike the fact that the hat had placed her in ravenclaw above gryffindor… but they made their relationship work even if they couldn’t be around each other all the time.

Jasper saw the flush of red to he cheeks and he couldn't help but smile at that. He was still amazed that this girl had agreed to go out with him, house pride, his bad blood, and his last name aside, she had agreed to go out with him, and it was those three things that quite often drove girls away from him, not that he had asked many girls out over his time at hogwarts, they had always seemed cold and distant, well any of the ones he had liked to look at, but he had never gotten around to even talking to most of them. But the waiting had paid off, because now he had Nikki he wasn't going to let her go anytime soon, he loved the feel of her in his arms, the touch of her skin against hers, her body pressed against his as he hugged her close to him and smiled down at her.
He chuckled slightly as he heard what she had said and his head shook and he put his head close to her ear to speak softly to her. "not at all . . it's straight out of 'jasper's 100 ways to make a stunning, smart, beautiful girl blush' . . . . so now you know my secret . . i might have to kill you" He said, his voice soft, his tone joking as he nuzzled her neck slightly and then pulled his head back to look at her, and he lifted one hand from her waist and moved to brush some loose hair from her face and slid his fingers over her cheek to brush it back behind her ear. He nodded slightly. "Mhmm . . i should publish it . . I'll make a fortune" He said, with a grin. He was teasing her of course, and he nodded his head slightly and pressed his lips to her forehead and then he pulled back from her and moves his hand back to her waist, his hand curving round to her back and pulling her body against him slightly.
"oh i duuuuunno . . the unicorn might be a little nicer . . " He said jokingly, he smiled as she made to press her lips against his and he returned the kiss, keeping his lips on hers a little longer, enjoying the feel of them against his and the taste. He pulled back slightly, though he kept his face close to hers and he smiled, not wanting it to end and he looked at her and his mouth turned into a slight pout, he wasn't being serious of course. Something about Nikki turned him kinda goofy, he had no idea if it was to do with anything important, all he knew was he liked it and he didn't mind being goofy with her, he didn't fell like she was judging his ever move, waiting for him to turn and snap and she had never looked at him in disgust, like he was some random puppy ready to be kicked aside at first glance.
Before he knew it, he had put one hand gently on the back of her head, he couldn't seem to stop himself as he made to press his lips gently to hers again, this time trying to keep a longer kiss. There was something about her, he just wanted her more and more. He hoped she didn't think he was trying to rush her or force her into anything, because he wasn't. he would die before he would do anything to hurt her, mentally or physically.

flightless birdnikki’s growing up away from the wizarding world and all of its influences might be a positive thing when it came to her relationship with jasper. she had grown up away from all of the house rivalry talk that she knew filled many of the wizarding families. she hadn’t heard how slytherins and gryffindors hated each other, or how ravenclaws and hufflepuffs were rivals in their own way, or how each house should put loyalty to their own house above all else. she’d obviously had no pressure to join any certain house when she’d sat on the stool under the sorting hat, and so she knew that the house she was in was the right one for her, but didn’t have any aversion to any other house (except, sometimes, slytherin because of their reputation) like gryffindor. a lot of students, she’d noticed, dated only within their own house, which probably had a lot to do with convenience, but nikki didn’t have an aversion to any other house and therefore as long as jasper didn’t mind the separation between them, and he hadn’t so far, their relationship was free to thrive.
a similar benefit of being raised a muggle was the lack of horror stories. specifically of werewolves. to her, before coming to the school and her first defence against the dark arts class in which werewolves were spoken of (she’d reacted in disbelief) they’d been a thing of myth. beautiful silver creatures who appeared once a month to howl at the moon and lived completely normal lives the rest of the month. creatures who could only be killed by a bullet. creatures no more harmful during the day than anyone else… she hadn’t been raised to know the truth of werewolves, or to hear a mother’s horror stories of the creatures carrying off children on the nights of full moons… she knew a lot of students at the school were wary of werewolves, and from what she’d heard the greyback werewolf family was infamous simply because of their last name, but she couldn’t see why anyone could be scared of jasper, or think he was (and this made her blood boil) a freak. the guy didn’t even transform, for pete’s sake! but she’d gotten to know jasper a bit (well, okay, his amazingly handsome looks probably had a lot to do with her enthusiasm to get to know him) before judging him based off of his family because she hadn’t been raised to hear of the ‘terrible werewolves’, and she was thankful for that. if she were a wizard born witch, maybe she wouldn’t have given her boyfriend a second thought once she realized who he was… that thought was rather depressing.
"not at all . . it's straight out of 'jasper's 100 ways to make a stunning, smart, beautiful girl blush' . . . . so now you know my secret . . i might have to kill you" ”well, if yours is the last face i’ll see…” she trailed off lightly with a small smile. two months of dating and she already felt like a lovesick fool when she was around him. always blushing, always melting at every word to come out of those lips, always smiley, and always so comfortable in his presence… her ‘realistic’, or as she liked to call her, pessimistic ‘auntie’ (she never called her adoptive parents mom or dad) would tell her not to give her heart away so young… she was only fifteen, and this relationship had only been going for a bit over two months… there was plenty of time for heartbreak. but nikki found she just couldn’t help herself. call it teenage hormonal infatuation if you would, but everything about jasper just seemed so perfect to and for her. it was more than a little bit difficult to try to keep her emotions and heart under control around him.
"mhmm . . i should publish it . . i'll make a fortune" ”my rich boyfriend, jasper greyback…” she mused with a small grin, teasing. ”i can’t say i don’t like the sound of that.” she was joking. well, okay, she did like the sound of that, but it was the ‘boyfriend: jasper greyback’ part she loved so much. nikki had grown up with a rather simple, minimalistic childhood. the only really amazing luxury present she’d ever gotten would have been her horse, molly, but that was a birthday gift that her parents had saved up ages for, and she’d used it nearly ever day until the fire… she was not a girl who needed lavish, expensive items to be happy or heaps of cash to do as she pleased. as long as she had him, nikki was certain she would be happy.
"oh i duuuuunno . . the unicorn might be a little nicer . . " nikki just shook her head, smiling. unicorns were fickle creatures, acting like your best friend one minute and bolting away the next… their beauty was entrancing, sure, but nothing in her mind compared to jasper’s company. nothing. “trust me, nothing could top you.”
nikki had once been one of those girls always wary about boys and touchiness... always paranoid that a guy was being too affectionate. her aunt had told her 'if he can't keep his hands off of you for ten minutes, he's not in love, he's in heat', but that never crossed her mind around jasper. being around him, whatever they did, just felt right and natural, so she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, as unwilling to end it as he was. at only fifteen, she knew she'd back away if she ever felt things things were getting a bit... too much, but she never felt pressured around him anyway. every she did with jasper just felt right, whether it was hand holding, or a hug, or a kiss. no pressure at all.

He grinned and he nodded. He always smiled when she was around, it was like she made all the dark parts of his life vanish, and only the good remained when she was next to him, and when he was touching her, his hand holding hers in his grasp, it was like nothing else mattered. He'd never want another girl, or he hoped he'd never want another girl, because none of them would ever come close to hitting the mark the way she did. She was patient, and she was willing to look past his 'problem' and that made him love her all the more, if what he was feeling was love, and after all he hoped it was, because he'd never felt anything like it and he had no idea what would happen if it was suddenly taken from his grasp.
"Well . . if I'm the one to kill you . . of course my face will be the last you see . . . why . . handsome is it?" He said gently, his voice teasing as his head inched closer to hers, his messy hair falling over his forehead slightly as he tilted his head foreward and he smiled. He would never be able to do that to her though, as much as he joked and played around with her and as much as she could annoy him (though she hadnt yet, he was thinking she might in the future) he'd still always love everything about her, the way she smelled, the way her hair fell, the little things that made her who she was and he smiled wider slightly as he thought about everything that about her that made him tick. And ot was those thoughts he lived on when he was away from her, in his tower at night, and in the classes they didnt share.
"Well if i was rich i could buy you anything you wanted in the world . . and if i could . . i'd buy you the world . . and the moon . . and whatever else is beyond them" He said with a gentle smile, his hand moving up to brush her dark hair off her face and he nodded slightly. He would buy her what ever he asked, even if he had to scrimp and save till he was blue in the face, he'd get her what she wanted. He always would. He ran his hand over her hair gently, his fingers running through her beautiful locks as he did. He left his hand on the back of her neck gently. His fingers curving around the back of her neck gently, not holding her tight or anything.
"Not even . . . chocolate?" He said with a grin, knowing that girls loved chocolate, well most girls loved chocolate, and he enjoyed it, on occasion and he looked at her and he grinned. He had never topped anything for anyone before. He had just, always been there. He knew his mother loved him, but she'd had her work, and she'd quite often been too busy to spend quality time with him for more than a few hours at a time, but he had loved the time they had shared, and since he had come to hogwarts he had felt so distant from her, and he was hoping to curb that by seeing if niki wanted to come back for christmas with him, but he'd ask that later. When they werent so new in the relationship.
He felt her arms go around his neck and his arms wrapped around her waist gently, not holding her tight, he would never, unless she gave him signals to hold her tighter, kiss her harder he wouldnt. His lips moved against hers with the kiss. His hand splayed against her back, moving to hold her gently against his chest as he deepened the kiss slightly, putting passion into it, passion he had wanted to since the first time he had laid eyes on her in the great hall, when she had been sorted into ravenclaw, and he into gryffindor. He made to pull back from her slightly, when he felt the fire from the wolf in him start to rise, the passion and the lust he was feeling were driving it mad, and he felt his eyes flash yellow for a second, when he felt that he unwound himself from her, pulling back quickly and turning his head away from her, ashamed he had forgotten about that for a few moments. He took a few controlled breathes, hoping to cool it down, and turn his eyes to normal again.

flightless bird"Well . . if I'm the one to kill you . . of course my face will be the last you see . . . why . . handsome is it?" ”Handsome doesn’t even begin to do it justice,” was the Ravenclaw’s response, accompanied by a small giggle. All girlfriends were biased towards their own boyfriends blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda, but Nikki was pretty sure she could stare into Jasper’s eyes, or just at him in general, for hours and never tire of the view. The boy had been blessed with some damn good looks, probably from his mother’s side seeing as nikki thought Fenrir Greyback’s appearance should, if there was any justice in the world, match his personality. Dark and ugly. But she wasn’t thinking about the infamous werewolf right now, or shouldn’t be, she was thinking about Jasper. Whereas there were tonnes of veela girls at Hogwarts to overshadow her decent looks, she couldn’t ever remember seeing a guy whose appearance could top Jasper Greybacks. There was just something about him… something that drew her to him from the first time she saw him… something she was all too happy to be able to see whenever she wanted nowadays.
"Well if i was rich i could buy you anything you wanted in the world . . and if i could . . i'd buy you the world . . and the moon . . and whatever else is beyond them” Handsome, funny, and charming as hell… yep, that was her boyfriend. Sure, some might say that he could get a little bit cheesy sometime, but personally Nikki loved the cheese. Cheese made a girl feel important, special. It reassured her that she was worth something instead of some random little fling that would be forgotten two days after, god forbid, they broke up. She knew that there were boys out there who could be charming just to get into a girl’s pants and throw them away, but…that wasn’t Jasper. That couldn’t be Jasper. She would never let such a paranoia infiltrate her thoughts. He was sweet and genuine and everything she thought she could ever want in a boyfriend. ”The only thing I want in the world right now is you,” she assured him, drawing herself a little bit closer to him with her arms. It was November, which meant the air was getting rather chilly, and the thought of warmth was a good excuse to tell herself when the truth was she just wanted to be held close in his arms by him where she felt so safe and secure and at home.
"Not even . . . chocolate?" Smiling and angling her head upwards to look into his gorgeous dark eyes, Nikki shook her head. "That's your weakness," she reminded him with a small giggle. "If unicorns can't top you, no amount of sweets could." Of course she liked chocolate, too, it just wasn't any sort of an addiction to her, certainly not to the level that Jasper was. Everything about him was like an addictive drug to the girl. His voice, his smile, his eyes, his personality, his looks... everything was so damned perfect and amazing and intoxicating. Every time she was away from him she told herself to calm down, to not get too attached, to realize that they were young and opinions and emotions could change in a blink of an eye, but each time he was within her gaze she found herself falling hard again, all too happy to be caught in his arms. She knew she might regret seeming to give her heart away so fast to him for many reasons- the baggage he and his family came with, his werewolf nature, the fact that they were still so young and hardly any relationships that began at their age would last- but whenever she was around him she just... didn't care. Call her a foolish little girl if you wished, the fact remained that when she was with him she was the happiest she could remember being in the last five years.
She would have been happy to just stand there for the entire night in each other's arms, not saying a word and relaxing in the sweet silence and warmth of each other's kisses. Back when she was nine, a quote which had stuck in her brain all these years, her father had told her that human communication was seven percent speaking, and ninety-three percent of everything else. That meant that even when they weren't speaking aloud, Jasper and herself were still very much communicating through pretty much everything else- the tensions in their muscles, the peaceful silence between them, their lips pressed against each other in an ever deepening and pasionate kiss that Nikki found she was in no hurry to stop...
There was a millisecond of warning as Jasper rather hesitantly pulled back, still within her grasp but not quite so close, and then he was gone. All contact between them was lost, Nikki standing in the same location with her hands fallen down to her sides, and Jasper a little ways away, too far for her to touch, with his had angled away. The Ravenclaw could hear him breathing, the sound robotic and controlled, not natural at all, as though he were upset or angry. Had she done something wrong? That had to be the answer; why else would he move away so suddenly and not look at her?
After hesitating for a moment, the paranoia that he was upset with her eating away at her brain for those short slivers of time, Nikki took a step towards him, shoes crunching on the fallen leaves beneath her feet. She lifted her right hand, placing it in his shoulder, and tried to move in front of him so that he would look at her. "Jasp... what's wrong?"

Jasper knew he had left her in the lurch, mid kiss, wantingmore. He licked his lips, hell he really did want more. It took every fibre of his being to keep looking away from her, scared of what would happen if he looked at her she was irrisitable to him, and if his wolf came out, he wouldnt be able to help himself. And the wolf, wouldnt be as careful as Jasper was. It would take what it wanted without a care in the world for her. His breathing was forced, he knew it, it was a method someone had told him for helping calm tempers, and well this was the biggest temper Jasper had, so he hoped it was working. He heard her approach him, but he was frowzen to the spot. Afraid to move because it might be closer to her, and afraid not to move for fear of what it would cause.
He flinched when she touched him. seeing her through the corner of his eyes and a slight whine escaped his lips. Why couldnt she take his moving away as a sign and run, run as far as she could from him. He was hit with her scent, he delectable scent that had the wolf raging hiside him again and as she stepped into his view his eyes flashed yellow again, staying that color and his breath quicken as he felt her warmth from there. He looked at her, his eyes turning slightly wild as he made to grab herl not being able to control himself anymore and before he could stop it he was kissing her, hard. His mouth moved against hers, before his eyes flew open and he grabbed her arms and forced himself back from her. "I . . i . . I'm s-so sorry" He said to Nikki, his feet forcing himself back from her as he looked at her face, the look in his eyes horrified as to what he had just done.
WIth that, his yellow eyes slowly turned back to their own color. his hand held infront of him to stop her coming any closer to him. he couldnt risk her, he wasnt going to risk hurting her when he was like this. "I . . i h-have to go . . i'm sorry" He said again, his voice soft, full of the emotion of the apology in his voice, his voice was think with dread at what he'd done and suddenly he was running, his feet moving as he did, not even listning to hear if she was following, he needed to put space between them for now, till he had managed to lock the beast back away deep in his body, where it couldnt hurt anyone.
He ran for he had no idea how long, his feet still moving on their own and he gasped when his foot hit a log and he fell forward. He couldnt stop himself from falling and he hit the pine needles hard and he tried to scramble to his feet but he couldnt bring himself to do it. The engery of running and keeping the beast at bay had drained him, people had no idea how much effort staying sane was when you were a werewolf. He half crawled half scrambled to a log and he slumped again it, his arm over it as he kept himself off the ground and he shook his head. His hand ran over his face and he shook his head slightly.
He knew he shouldnt have run from her, after all, she probably felt like he didnt care anymore. But he did, oh so much, he cared that he could have bitten her just now. or forced himself on her. And no person should ever knew what either of them felt like. He rested his head on his arm, his eyes closed as he tried to breathe and catch his breath again. He sniffed and felt heat sting the side of his eyes and he opened his eyes to feel something wet slide down his face. He made no move to wipe the tear away from his eyes, he had good reason to be upset, and he had just run away from it, and it was killing him.

flightless birdfor the first time around him, nikki felt a flash of fear. her heart stopped in her chest, and it didn’t do so in a good ‘in love’ way. no, her heart stopped in fear, in worry, in plain terror at her boyfriend, of all freaking people. this wasn’t jasper. he didn’t act like this… there wasn’t any gentleness in the kiss, any of the love that she usually felt whenever their lips touched. there was harsh, controlling power in his posture, in the tenseness in his muscles… there wasn’t any caring or regard for what she might want. his arms had her pinned there, she wouldn’t be able to run away even if she hadn’t been completely frozen. she felt utterly helpless in his grasp which, again, was something she’d never felt before around him. he was always the one who made her feel safe and secure, never before had she actually feared for well-being, or even her life, around him. a soft whimper broke through her lips, her hands partially pressed against his chest in the kiss as though he were trying to push him away, but she couldn’t gather the courage to actually push. what if she just angered him more? what if he attacked her in a more serious manner than just a kiss? she didn’t know what she’d do…
"I . . i . . I'm s-so sorry" it took her a moment to realize that he was gone, no longer right next to her with his lips feverishly pressed against hers, and it took another long moment for her to realize that she was shaking. every limb in her body was tense, a soft tremor running from her head down to her feet. she couldn’t look him in the eyes, instead staring off to her left at the ground with her left hand hanging loose at her side and her right clutching her left shoulder. it was how she always stood when scared or uneasy, as though the single arm wrapped across her torso could protect her. she finally forced herself to look at him, her gaze at his feet first and then slowly traveling up to his face, almost afraid of the expression she’d see there. anger? desire? mindless rage?
his eyes… they were weird. wrong. not the warm chocolate brown ones she loved to stare into so much; yellow and unnatural. not human. nikki realized that this must be a bit of the wolf in her boyfriend shining through, and she hoped that she was not an idiot for wanting to believe that his actions a few moments before had been the wolf, as well. at least right now, other than the fading yellow eyes, he seemed more normal… more her Jasper. but she couldn’t bring herself to say anything, even when she opened her mouth to speak nothing would come out. the terror was still obvious in her own eyes, and she felt bad for that… she didn’t want him to feel like a monster, even though in those few frantic moments he’d seemed more like that than human. "I . . i h-have to go . . i'm sorry" And then he was gone. Nikki, meanwhile, did nothing. she stared at the spot he’d disappeared to through the trees, wanting to call out to him, wanting to run after him, and wanting to go back to the castle, to safety, alone all at the same time.
she knew… she knew all of the stories. werewolves, even half werewolves, were dangerous creatures. their emotions were too strong for them to control sometimes, they ran off of animalistic instincts when that happened. and animals certainly didn’t have the same thought processes as humans did… especially wolves. wolves took what they wanted when they wanted it. they were violent, they were vicious, and they were very, very dangerous. they didn’t care of her feelings when whatever urges came to them, whether it be violence or, well, lust. she knew jasper hadn’t been himself when he’d kissed her… she knew that, and she reminded herself of it ten thousand times as she stood in the exact same spot he’d attached his lips to hers so fiercely, trying to do… well, anything really. to go back to the castle. to sit down. to crumple to the ground. to go after him. something. she just had to do something.
her feet were moving before she consciously made the decision, beginning at a slow, hesitant pace through the trees, away from the castle in the direction that her boyfriend had ran. she had no idea where he was, exactly. the trees had swallowed him up too quickly for her to notice a direction. he could have doubled back and ran the other way for all she knew, but she wasn't going to go back to the castle until she found him. she knew she was stupid... what if he didn't have the beast under control yet? what if he appeared out of nowhere and attacked her? she'd be completely powerless against him, and this time for a much darker reason than his dashing good looks and charming personality. but she couldn't just leave him out here all alone, probably way more tormented than she by his lapse in control...
a footprint in a soft patch of earth was her clue to where he had headed, and she instantly set off in that direction. her pace quickened with every second, though why she exactly she was so anxious she wasn't sure. maybe it was because he, ironically, had been the one to remind her again that the woods weren't a safe place to be in the middle of the night alone. she found him a little ways ahead of her, slumped on the ground near a log. she had almost walked right by him, her path bringing her through the trees a few metres to his right, but as soon as she noticed him she moved back towards him, stopping beside and slightly behind the first tree in the direction he was facing, about two or three metres away. she could see him clearly, his tormented expression, a crystal-like tear falling down his face... she hadn't been sure of what she was going to say, whether she should yell at him for failing to control the dangerous side of himself, or what... but when she saw him she knew she couldn't yell. but that kind of left her in a predicament, because what could she possibly say to him after what had happened? her hands were back to the positioning they'd been as he'd run off, one hanging down and the other gripping the other arm just below the shoulder, like she always did when she was unsure. "...you stopped it." she finally stated softly, by 'it' referring to the werewolf, of course. words-1227, tag-jasper!, outfit-see the picture, with ravenclaw mitts and a scarf, notes-LOVE <3 |

Jasper heard her behind him, but made no move to turn to her, he was too afraid to look at her face, too scared that the feelings of what he had felt would rush back to him and he would do something he regretted. He never wanted that to happen again, the feeling of being so much stronger than her, knowing he could force her to do his will, whether she wasnted it or not was horryfying to Jasper, he knew some people would gove anything to have that, and here he was, willing to give everything not to have it, there wasnt anything in the world he wouldnt give or find to be normal, human, not this, not a halfbreed who's only place in the world was at the bottom and he was destined to live life alone and working in som ruddy pub, because people feared what he wasn, and what he would do, and judging by what had just happened, people were right.
His hand was gripping the log still, his fingers digging into the bark it felt like parts of the log were sharply embedded in his fingers, but it was good, the pain if the log digging into his fingers was keeping him sane, it was something to focus on other than her scent, which was blowing straight toward him, the crisp clean, tantalising smell of her and he shook his head slightly as he heard her stop a few feet from him. He shifted, and pulled one hand away from the log, smelling the slight scent of blood as he looked down at his fingers, so he had been gripping the log tight, this was the proof of it, the warm blood that was trickling down his fingers, from his figertips. He shook his head slightly, ignoring it as he made t owipe the back of his hand against his eyes. They werent yellow anymore, they were slowly changing back to the chocolate brown they usually were, and he blinked and looked at her as she spoke.
"...you stopped it." Jasper bit his lip hard, he could feel his teeth dig into his lower lip and he shook his head. He had nly just managed to stop in, infact he hadnt really, if he'd have stopped it he wouldnt have force her back, and he wouldnt have forced himself on her. He didnt expect her to fogive him, he wouldnt if it had been reversed, but he at least didnt want her to hate him, he loved her after all. He knew he was young yes, but he'd had crushes before, he'd dated a girl in his first year and it had been nothing like the feelings, the urges to protect her, and the way he could look at her for hours and not get bored, that made Jasper think this was diffrent. He shifted against the log, slipping slighty and slumping back against the log and he looked up at her finall, his eyes eyes searching for hers in the middle of this whole mess.
He took a deep breathe, it was shaky at best but it was steadier than his breathing before, calmer, more relaxed as the wolf was pressed further down into his body, the heat redrawing from his limbs and the cool air from the breeze over the lake was heling him calm. He shook his head slightly. "No . . if . . if i'd have stopped it . . i . . i wouldnt have hurt you . . and . . i never wanted to hurt you nikki! never . . it . . it was an accident i swear!" He said, hoping the emotion of what he was feeling was coming out in his voice and he made to push himself up from the log and he looked at her, his eyes searching her face again, looking for any sign of forgivness in her face. "I . . I didnt mean it . . . and i am so sorry . . i . . i dont expect you to forgive me . . i dont" He said, though he was hoping she would, give him another chance to prove he was nothing like he had just seemed, and he hoped she would understand it was the wolf, not him that had tried to hurt her.

flightless birdher adoptive mother, raeanne, might have called nikki a fool. well, she knew raeanne would call her a fool. mainly for being out at this time of night in the cold and no further clothing but a half-sleeved shirt and a scarf, and then again for not retreating to the school after jasper’s little… er, loss of control. raeanne was not an impractical woman. she didn’t approve of relationships at nikki’s age, but knew that teenagers would be teenagers and especially living a muggle world away raeanne had no control over what nikita did, but she did her best to prepare her ‘daughter’ for things. for at least a year now nikki had been hearing speeches on how once a boy showed you his true colors, whatever they happened to be, you had to believe him and back off. no boy was perfect, and according to raeanne the worst they ever were to you was how they truly were. based on that logic nikki should be back in the castle right now with no intention of ever contacting jasper ever again, but that definitely wasn’t the case. how could it be? werewolves… they were the exception to raeanne’s rule, in nikki’s opinion. there were two sides to them. you just had to choose if the food outweighed the bad, and in jasper nikki thought it certainly did.
he looked so pitiful… true, he had scared the ell out of her and nikki still felt a shiver run down her spine when she looked at him, but he hadn’t meant to! that had been clear in the way he’d reacted, even more horrified than she had been at his loss of control. how could raeanne believe guys like him were bad news? he didn’t have a choice in what he was… he didn’t mean to hurt her. nikki didn’t think he’d ever mean to hurt her. she trusted raeanne’s opinion on many things, the woman had practically been her mother for five years, but her stance on boyfriends and true colors was wrong… maybe in the muggle world it was right, but in the wizarding world there were outside factors. things neither girlfriend or boyfriend could control. though it was probably just the light from the moon, nikki could almost swear that the pressure his palms and fingers were placing on the log was cutting off some circulation in his hands. they seemed freakishly pale, showing to her how tormented he was. no, she definitely couldn’t blame him.
why did jasper insist on shaking his head, like he was trying to argue? he had stopped it. there was a reason they were here right now and not, well, she didn’t want to let her mind run to the ‘what ifs’ of if his wolf had taken control. she experienced nightmares often enough without having to worry about that sort of thing… if she’d just jinxed herself she was going to punch something.
"No . . if . . if i'd have stopped it . . i . . i wouldnt have hurt you . . and . . i never wanted to hurt you nikki! never . . it . . it was an accident i swear! I . . I didnt mean it . . . and i am so sorry . . i . . i dont expect you to forgive me . . i dont" ”jasp…” nikki bit her lip, one foot taking a small step towards him while the other remained locked firmly in place, unwilling to allow her to move another inch towards the half-werewolf. she tried a tight smile, partially forced though she wanted it to be genuine. surely she wasn't really even slightly scared of him still, right? her leg was just being stubborn by itself, not out of some unconscious fear on her part that this regret was just an act? "i don't blame you for something you can't control. besides, nothing happened. i'm fine." again, she tried a smile, hoping that it didn't seem as forced as it felt. there was no reason for it to be forced... smiling around jasper usually came naturally, right? it was just one little incident that set her on edge. any words further failing her, nikki just stood there, shivering from the cold temperature.
