With a last crunch into the apple slices she had cut, Astoria finished her breakfast and cleaned up, bringing everything into the kitchen before washing it quickly, then wiping down the table of the breakfast nook and washing her hands once more. Yes, it was a little compulsive, but she liked things clean, and the only way to assure they were was for her to do it herself. Often times she found herself cleaning up after her husband and teenage son, but it could be worse; she could have had litters of children to wash after. Shuddering at the thought, Astoria quickly finished her business in the kitchen and went to change out of her pyjamas and into comfortable clothes for the day.
Waking up, she had every intention of working to get her bulbs out of the ground in the garden and transplanting everything to pots that needed to come inside, but she had neglected to notice that it had rained the previous night, and her plans were therefore thwarted until the ground could dry up. For a moment she’d been caught without plans or anything to do, but realizing it was Sunday and she didn’t feel like popping into her office to pick up work that she could get a head start on, she dressed in something presentable, and planned to go out and run a few errands while waiting for the sun to evaporate the water and leave the ground workable for the afternoon.
She had slept in rather well, something she quite enjoyed doing, so as she stepped into Diagon Alley she wasn’t surprised at the rush of people that were flowing through. It had to be almost midday as it was, and as a weekend, many people were using their free day to go out shopping. Difficult as it was, she managed to push past quite a few groups of people before smacking straight into another person. “Oh, I’m quite sorry,” she said, trying to catch her footing before she stumbled into someone else. “I wasn’t looking at where my feet were taking me,” she gave a light laugh.
