It was just another chilly November afternoon at the ministry of magic. Hermione was at her desk finishing the last touches of paperwork so that she could get home at a decent hour. Usually she stayed later but today just was not one of those days. Before long the chilly days would turn to snowy days and her children would be at Hogwarts Castle for the yule ball. It would make christmas time very lonely for her, although there was her husband and the rest of their family. It just was not quite the same without having eleven children running around the hovel. At least there was still Ron so it wouldn’t be too quiet.
There were a million reasons that she wanted her children to come home for the holidays but there really wasn’t much choice in the matter. Since Hugo’s attack she had been worrying more about them. All she could do was hope that they stayed out of trouble and with Kingsley as the headmaster she knew that they weren’t going to be in much danger. Maybe it was just as they belived, a prank gone wrong due to the tensions between the houses because of the quidditch match. Still Hermione had a feeling this wasn’t the whole case but as nothing else had happened she could only hope that was the end of it. Hugo still hadn’t remembered anything as far as she knew and she didn’t want to push him to remember.
The time came for Hermione to leave and she stacked her papers neatly on her desk and shut the office door behind her. Although she could apparate she chose to use the floo to return to her home. Entering the house she was glad to be home. There was still some things for her to do like make dinner but the first thing she did was go to her living room and sit on the couch. If he wasn’t already home, Ron should be home soon.

Ron was busy writing out the report for the last field assignment he had, but he felt that he had better things he had to do then write this report. If it were up to him he’d go straight to the Hogwarts Castle and start investigating what happened to his son. But it was believed it was just a foolish prank because of the upcoming Slytherin vs. Gryffindor match. Then there was the fact that Slytherin had even won and since Hugo hadn’t played, many were thinking that was the case. That was how it was going to be considered unless something else happened. He hated waiting, waiting to see if something else happened to see if it was a prank or an actual attack. It didn’t help that Hooper, his son’s toad, had been taken away from him as well. He knew how much his boy loved his toad (despite how useless Ron felt toads were) but as to why the toad was taken, or if it was taken as there was another theory that it had ran off and hid.
Ronald sighed as he wrote the last sentence on his report and then tapped it with his wand to send it to the file where it belonged. It was finally the end of the day and time for him to head on home. Home, the home that had been so quite with all of the kids gone to school and they’ll even be gone for Christmas because of the Yule Ball. It would just be him and Hermione, though they’d probably invite Ron’s siblings and their better halves over so that it wouldn’t be so lonely. But at the same time he wouldn’t mind a romantic night with Hermione next to the blazing fire of the fire place and a cup of Hot Cocoa.
Then with a quick Snap Ron had apparated out of his office and was now at the front door of the Hovel. His and Hermione’s home that they had built to be so big just to host family gatherings. It was a good thing they did as he didn’t think his parents place could hold how many people were in his family now. Especially with how many siblings Ron had.
He then opened the door to his lovely home and headed on inside to see that his wife was already home. “Hey Dear,
” he smiled as she sat down next to her on the couch and then leaned over to give her a soft kiss on the cheek. He then sat back up and pulled out his wand to point it at the fireplace so that it would light up before their eyes. “ How was work today?” he asked her curiously. Hermione was still thinking about her children and whether she should send an owl to them to see how they were doing at Hogwarts. She still couldn’t help but worry about their safety. More than anything Hermione just wanted it to be a one time thing and go about not having to worry about them too much when they were at Hogwarts. A mother always worried but she hadn’t worried as much before as she now did. And then there was Hugo’s missing toad. As much as Hermione preferred cats herself she knew how much Hooper had meant to Hugo. Perhaps she should ask him if he would like another, as Hooper had yet to be found. ”Hey dear”
Ron always had a way of bringing her out of her thoughts and back to the present. He was good at things like that. Seeing each other after they got home from work was usually the brightest parts of her day. Hermione loved the fire that he had lit before them, it wouldn’t be long until a fire would be burning most of the time when they were at home. That was her favorite part about the winter, sitting in front of a fire with Ron, and their children when they were home from school. ”How was work today?” If Hermione’s childhood hadn’t been full of enough adventure and danger she would have wished she had taken a more exciting job. After all her job just required paperwork and filing reports. Making sure that everyone was doing their job. Rather boring most would say, even herself at times, but compared to the constant danger they were in when Voldemort rose to power, boring was nice.
”Pretty ordinary. Just a lot of paperwork.” It was much the same day after day. Things rarely changed, and as assistant head she got to do the most paperwork. Still it allowed her to work pretty ordinary hours and that gave her plenty of free time in the evenings to spend with family. ”How was your day? Anything interesting?”

”Pretty ordinary. Just a lot of paperwork.” Ron frowned slightly, he knew how bored Hermione got at times while she was in the office. That was one of the reasons why Ron was glad just to be an auror, he didn’t need to be the head of an office for he did far more paperwork than he already wanted to. He enjoyed being out in the field more than being stuck in the office. ”How was your day? Anything interesting?” he heard his wife asked him. How was his day? He spent most of the day filling out paperwork as well while thinking of his children at Hogwarts and wishing he could be there right now investigating Hugo’s attack. “It was pretty dull today. There wasn’t much to do other than fill out the paperwork for the last mission I was on,
” he sighed softly as he leaned back into his couch. He pulled out his wand and with a swish and a flick he started up a couple cups of hot cocoa in the kitchen. For how big there house was, it just seemed so quite. A house this big should have several people around popping in and out and talking and enjoying each other’s company. Kind of like how it used to be at his parents house, but that was only when they were at Hogwarts. This must’ve been how his parents felt once all the kids were in Hogwarts. It was too quiet and even the winter holidays would be as well with the kids attending the Yule Ball. But then he got an idea. “ You know, since the kids are gone this Christmas why don’t we get all of use adults together and enjoy Christmas together. I’m sure some of them will be lonely as well without their kids going home for the Holidays,” he glanced over at Hermione as he heard the pot whistling that the water was now hot and then he flicked his wand so that it would begin pour into a couple of cups for them. It was pretty dull today. There wasn’t much to do other than fill out paperwork for the last mission I was on.” Hermione was glad that the day had been rather dull for Ron, although she knew him well enough to know he hated paperwork and would have rather been out on the field. Still she didn’t worry so much about him when he was behind a desk. Even though he was an accomplished auror it would never stop her from worrying when he was on a mission. It was who she was. She would always worry a little about him and their children. Still she would never ask him to not go on missions, it was his job and he loved it. He always came home safe and there wasn’t much more she could ask for.
It was a subject she didn’t want to bring up but she had been thinking about it all day. This was the one time she wished she was an auror and could go out and investigate herself. ”Have you heard anything about the investigation at Hogwarts?” There were times throughout the day that she had thought about finding Harry to question him but she had been busy with paperwork. Harry was probably busy with his work as well.
”You know, since the kids are gone this Christmas why don’t we get all of use adults together and enjoy Christmas together. I’m sure some of them will be lonely as well wit Hough their kids going home for the Holidays.” Hermione had also been thinking about that earlier. She was going to miss her children terribly this year. There hadn’t been a year when their home wasn’t full of laughter and the children’s antics. She almost wished she could make them miss out on the Yule Ball and come home with her. ”I think that’s a great idea. It’ll make our home full again.”

”Have you heard anything about the investigation at Hogwarts?” Ron shook his head softly. He felt a bit ashamed that he hadn’t heard anything, but that was because there hadn’t been anything to be reported. He had been conversing with Kingsley through OWL and it seemed that nothing else had happen since, asides from a so called prank getting pulled on Albus’s friend. But that students was accepting his punishments it had seemed.
”I think that’s a great idea. It’ll make our home full again.” Ron smiled, glad that Hermione had agreed with him on this idea. “I think it’ll help calm us as well. Having the family around us always seems to put us in a better mood,
” he said happily always glad that Hermione loved the ideas that he came up with, just like he loved the ones that she came up with. “ Perhaps we should figure out what to do for the Party before we try to figure out what’s going on at Hogwarts. We really can’t do much more there until we get more information unfortunately. But it seems that Hugo’s attack is the only one that has happened so far,” he suggested lightly. He knew he should be happy that no one else had been attacked yet, but he really wished that it hadn’t been his son that had gotten attacked back in September. I really was a bit of a downer. So hopefully with the upcoming Christmas Celebration he could get his mood back up. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Hermione was a bit disappointed that Ron hadn’t heard anything either. She had just hoped that she hadn’t heard anything but that he had. Still it seemed as if nothing else had happened of importance so far and Hugo was doing well. Her children were safe so maybe it was best to let it go, and try to worry a little less. Although that was easier said than done she was going to try for the sake of her sanity. It wouldn’t do her any good to fall behind on her work with being so busy and close to the holidays. This holiday she just wanted to relax with her family and friends and worry about work when she had to return to it. She was in need of a well -deserved break, although she couldn’t complain much.
“I think it’ll help calm us as well. Having the family around us always seems to put us in a better mood,” He was right of course, having the big Weasley/Potter family around would put them in good spirits. And there was always George to lighten the mood when things got too tense. ”You’re right of course. Let’s just enjoy the holidays.” Hermione knew that they needed to keep calm but sometimes it was harder to do than she thought. With the party it would give her something to concentrate on other than work and worrying. “Perhaps we should figure out what to do for the Party before we try to figure out what’s going on at Hogwarts. We really can’t do much more there until we get more information unfortunately. But it seems that Hugo’s attack is the only one that has happened so far,”
Hermione wanted to believe that there was only going to be one attack but something told her that it wasn’t so. Still only Hugo had been attacked and all seemed to be well up at Hogwarts with the tournament and the rest of the castle. ”Shall we just invite the family? I’m sure there are some of Rose and Hugo’s friends who have parents whose house will be empty this Christmas. I’ll try not to get too anxious about information but if you here anything let me know.” Hermione didn’t believe he would keep anything from her anyway but it never hurt to let him know.

“You’re right of course. Let’s just enjoy the holidays.” Ron smiled at Hermione before he leaned over and gave her another kiss on the cheek. He really did love her and was glad that the two of them were married and have a family together. And of course there was their nice big house that everyone that they knew seemed to enjoy.
“ Shall we just invite the family? I’m sure there are some of Rose and Hugo’s friends who have parents whose house will be empty this Christmas. I’ll try not to get too anxious about information but if you here anything let me know.” Ron thought for a moment. With none of the kids around, they could actually invite their friends as well seeing as there would be extra rooms for them to sleep in if they wanted to crash for the night, especially if it involved drinking, he knew it was a bad idea to drink and then try to apparate, he did once. It wasn’t exactly a fun mess to get cleaned up and landed him in St. Mungo’s for a week while Hermione had told him off for not sending her an Owl for her to come and apparate him home.
“I shall definitely let you know if I hear anything. And I think we should invite all of our friends and family, there will be extra rooms with all of the kids gone. And I’m sure if we asked Harry and Ginny they would even help us set up and get ready. Ginny did always love to cook ever since mum taught her,
” he smiled happily. “ Perhaps we should consider doing a secret santa thing, I heard those could be quite fun,” he said thoughtfully. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
