Steve had gotten up and had decided that he should get together with his sister Alarica. After all, there wasn't really much else for him to do today, considering the weekends here were normally full of boring studying or just hanging out with friends. Preferring the latter, he sent out an invitation to his dear little sister to meet in the court yard to chat it up to see how she's been doing. Not that they really needed to as he saw her every day, having purposely taken the same classes as her to watch over her. Even if it meant just forgetting about his own interests, yet he didn't want to deny her the pleasure of having the experience he had growing up in Hogwarts.
Even with all of the bullies and so-called blood purists out there, it was hard to keep track of her, especially due to the fact he had to keep her secret with him. Not that he could remember what it was, after all, it had been so long since he made a certain promise to his parents. For the life of him, he was racking his brain every day since he had started coming to Hogwarts to remember it. Steve had even been reminded of it before Alarica had started attending Hogwarts. It was amusing to see him distressed over something so simple, that surely wasn't. Even as complications would arise, he knew there would be many more opportunities to squeeze in a chance to remember.
Memory lane was usually kick-started by some event that normally happened with Alarica at it and he would remember what his parents had said for a short time. It didn't help that he was rather forgetful, but he obviously didn't forget about his sister ever. Wearing casual black dress pants, a white long-sleeved shirt with a brown coat covering him up, he continued to walk towards the court yard. Finally sitting down on a nice little stone slab that had some tables near it where he could put his books on to rest. Obviously, he was going to study sooner or later, but right now he was just relaxing from a long day's journey.
Going from the dungeons to the main floor, had been sooooo tiring, that he had to just you know relax some more. Just using that as his excuse so that he could actually procrastinate from doing his homework. Black shoes brushed the cement as he brushed back his short brown hair as his blue eyes looked out to look at the court yard. Alleged meeting spots were always teeming with people no matter where you went, so he had chosen the court yard due to it being in the open where not many people would mess with anyone else.

alarica had been struggling with her potions homework, head in one hand as she muttered to herself and then shook her head at her own words..when there came a tap at the window. at first alarica didn't here it, so absorbed by attempting to figure out what she wanted to write...that was until the beak tapped harder, with more insistancy upon the window pane, causing a louder crack to resonate among the room and therefore suceeding in making her jump and jerk her elbow at the ink pot.
"nooo!" it tipped, spilling most of the contents over her parchment before she could snatch it and turn it upright again. granted it had been a pretty bare piece of parchment but that had been a good hour already spent on it. groaning she was torn between the tapping on the window, and the ink spoiled parchment. in the end she chose the window, opening it and watching as a familiar owl swooped in, circled the hufflepuff common room once before landing on her ruined parchment. she rolled her eyes and took the letter from the owl, ignoring it as it hooted in irritation when it found the ink of it's claws. "you're own fault." she muttered, giving her brothers owl a friendly stroke anyway and watching it fly off.
oh...so her brother wished to meet up with her, that seemed like much more fun than trying to sort her potions homework out. biting her lip as she looked at the mess, she withdrew her wand and flicked it toward the mess, quickly causing it to dissapear and shaking her head. she stuffed the rest of the stuff into her bag, swung it over her shoulder and headed out of the common room - which was strangely pretty quiet for this time of afternoon.
the corridors were just as quiet, but she didn't mind, and she even took a small reasonably well known short cut as she headed out of the basement and toward the courtyard, noticing her brother steve easily from several yards away. she smiled; it'd been too long since she'd caught up with him - sure they saw each other all the time, but didn't often have time to stick around and chat. she headed over to him and made to throw herself into a seat, with a light grin. "heeey bro...long time no see." she said.

Steve was glad to see his little sister was indeed alright and doing just fine aside from the family owl they used. That stupid little bird never knew when to stay out of trouble, but he knew that little bird was fierce whenever it had to defend itself. Whatever, though, he was here with his sister now as he stood up to give her a hug on her way down, and then held tight onto her. Soon he let go after feeling like he was suffocating her with the fact he had missed her so much despite it just having been yesterday he had talked with her. It was incredibly weird to be over-protective over his little sister when his parents had told him to keep a close eye on her for some strange particular reason.
Of course, once the truth was out, he was sure she wouldn't care either way, but he had to deal with the other person she was hanging out with. Alarica obviously needed his protection, and if Blake thought he could have her all to himself, well he'd have a different say about that. As long as he kept his cool right now and she didn't bring him up he wouldn't have a problem with her. Having fought about that issue before, but he had to consider his sister's feelings too. What was best for her was whatever that made her happy and he didn't want to see her do anything to him that would hurt him either.
There was good news though on his end that he had to tell her, and then smiled in return. Obviously incredibly happy to see her, but he noted some ink on her hand from earlier. "Did our dumb owl knock over your homework ink again?" he asked curiously and then soon sat back down on the steps. Soon he was just silent as he soon looked at Alarica again, and of course she didn't have the same good looks as him. In a way, she was his pride and joy, just that fact made him wish he could be there for her at all times.

as her brother stood and wrapped his arms around her she gave a small, surprised laugh and returned the hug lightly. as he squeezed her tighter, she squeaked slightly and patted his back. "can't...breathe!" she managed to say until finally steve released her. she smiled lightly and pulled back from him lest he squeeze the bajezzus out of her again - she did rather like being able to breathe.
massaging her ribs slightly in a joke she grinned and made to sit on the steps beside him, looking at him. it really had been a while since they'd had a proper sit down and a chat. they should have done it more often; she thought that perhaps they should make more time for each other - after all, they were brother and sister, and family meant something to the both of them. alarica wasn't quite so bothered about keeping up with her cousins, they were a little too bloodpurist for her - and whilst she was pureblood she didn't fit into that kind of scene.
"Did our dumb owl knock over your homework ink again?" alarica laughed lightly and shook her head, looking at him and pushing her long red hair out the way. "no ... tapping his beak on the window made me jump and i knocked it over myself. but it was't like i'd gotten far in my work anyway..." she said with a roll of her eyes, shaking her head at herself. she really disliked potions, it didn't mess well with the fifteen year old hufflepuff. she bit her lip and looked at him, pushing aside thoughts of potions in favour of asking her brother; "so how're you ?"

Steve chuckled when she did that and just took it at heart that he was at home when he was with her, but that one important secret nagged at his mind. Something she wasn't supposed to know, and mainly just muggle-born were the two words he had to keep hidden from her at all costs. Guessing he would have to send an owl to his parents to remind himself when would be the right time to tell her, but if this didn't go well at all there was certain to be some trouble afoot. Looking around to make sure no other Slytherin's were in the vicinity at least the ones that did like to pick on actual hufflepuffs for no reason. Romulus was one of those few people and he had heard the reputation that guy was getting lately.
Not something you wanted to know about, especially coming from Alarica's house and he would have to be extra careful. Watching out for her was what he liked to do on his spare time with her, but he hadn't told her the news at all. Soon she'd have a sister-in-law, but he was just going to tease her about that for a while as that was all he could really think of in a situation like this. "So, Alarica, that owl never learns, but have you heard the news...I'm going out on a date in a couple of days. I'm so excited, I don't know what to wear, perhaps just my usual suit? No, that's too common, what bout just some random tie that goes well with a white shirt and jeans? NO that's being lazy. Geez, I'm excited about this," he said to her, pacing on the spot as he almost looked ready to kill himself from all these thoughts.
It was Steve's best friend Layla that he had asked out, and he had been her potions mentor for so long. "Just happened suddenly too, she was my partner at the masquerade ball, funny as that may be, and it was Layla Bailey if you remember her? If you don't she's a sixth year Ravenclaw, and a very cute one at that, so in essence I'm wonderful," he merely said to her, beaming a smile her way and then looking incredibly ecstatic. The last time Steve had been this happy was when they both had gone out for ice cream and he had gotten a triple scoop of ice cream by accident instead of a single. The man thought he had ordered a single in the long run and he got away with that ice cream cone like it was nothing.
Steve chuckled at that memory popping up in his head and remembered distinctly shoving part of that on Alarica's nose when he told her to lean in a little. "Haha, remember the time I put ice cream on your nose?" he asked out of nowhere, but it was just him and her thinking of the good times they had right now, no one else to bother them.
