Dominic had been waiting for the opportune moment to speak to Galen. There were just a few things that contributed to his hesitation. He hadn’t thought about it at the time, but Payton had already agreed to go to the Yule Ball with him, which, once he spoke with Galen about Aaliyah, she would be expecting, granted that he had been given Galen’s blessing, his pursuit in his usual courting fashion. It wasn’t just that but also that Dominic wanted to catch Galen in a good mood. That was probably the most difficult part. But if he put it off any longer he was liable to make Aaliyah think that he hadn’t been truthful with her. Dominic had gotten himself in one of those situations where the expression biting off more than you could chew was relative.
Galen’s schedule, if Dominic remembered correctly, which was rather vague, should have put him down toward the Slytherin common room around this time. With all that had been going on lately with the attacks it wasn’t the brightest idea to be hanging around the damp, dim dungeons by himself. That wasn’t even on his mind actually. With his hands folded behind his back Dominic calmly paced the corridor keeping himself active so as not to let his mind have complete reign of his actions. At first Dominic had thought to compose a speech to relay to Galen and make his point in a very clear and unmistakable fashion, but had quickly ruled that out. That didn’t stop him though, in his pacing, to go over the main points that he wished to discuss with Galen.
He already knew that Galen wouldn’t be pleased to have some profound discuss with him, especially as it pertained to his sister. How was Galen going to react to the method that Dominic took? Would he be offended by the formal way that he addressed the situation, think Dom a jerk for referring to his sister as a business proposition rather than a person? But that was how Dominic had been raised to go about these sorts of things. His grandparents had taught him to do so in order for the person he was speaking with to know without a doubt that he was serious. He paused in his pacing as a group of Slytherins passed by giving him an odd look for the distraught expression that graced his features. Galen should be coming along anytime now if he wasn’t mistaken.
