He was late. Why oh why was he always late? I swear, if he weren’t so handsome… Regina let the thought trail off with a small smile on her lips as she clasped her hands over her knees like a good girl and waited for her boyfriend to arrive. He’d probably just gotten distracted, as he had been so often lately, with his friends or music or homework. Anything and everything really… She sighed, her lipstick red lips turning into a small pout. She felt like she hadn’t been seeing much of him so far this year. Most of their communication had been through owls, actually, which didn’t satisfy her. They were dating, after all. Shouldn’t she have a right to him more than his teachers or pals or anyone else? She’d been around longer. Well, okay, maybe not. She’d only met him in their third year, so he likely had some friends who had been around for a good amount more of time than she, but… dating for three years, okay, nearly three years should count for something, right? People got married after dating each other for less time. After knowing each other for less time, even.
She sighed, running a hand through her thick locks of hair (perfectly smooth, in her opinion, as always). She tried to focus on something else. The fourth year couple making out over on a bench on the other side of the courtyard… the two giggly girls having a very happy conversation as they walked through the hallway that aligned itself with the courtyard… the lone fifth year hufflepuff boy huddled in a corner over some text books… No hot, musical Gryffindor sixth year boy in sight, unfortunately, and the things present in the courtyard were far too dull to hold her attention for long, so her thoughts soon turned to the most common topic; Nick.
Maybe she could convince him to come home with her for the holidays… her brothers liked him, and as far as she knew or was able to tell he liked them, too. Besides, no one could celebrate the holidays like the Crawfords. He’d visited her place for five days that Summer, and her entire family had adored him as she was sure they would. As long as he made her happy, which he certainly did and would, they were pleased with him. Even her eldest brother, who was a little bit musical himself though not to the extent of Nick, had taken a liking to her boyfriend and spent some time playing guitar with him. That was pretty astounding when you realized that the said brother was the one who would threaten anyone and anything who went within a ten mile radius of Regina, no matter how much she had ranted and raved over the last few years of how amazing he was. Her brother was too old to know Nick personally, and he hadn’t seen her word as trustworthy until he’d met Nick over the holidays. She was sure it would be an easy matter to convince her mother to add one more place to the family table at Christmas dinner. The trick would be convincing Nick…
Her mind pushed that issue away, sure that it wouldn’t be too much of a problem, and wandered on to what they could do over Christmas. Maybe make a trip to London for a weekend? Just the two of them… oh yes, her mind loved that idea. And then in the Summer maybe they could go to Egypt or some other faraway country, just the two of them… they’d be seventeen by then, well old enough to travel on their own. Her family had the money, they had the responsibility… a smile rested on her lips as she speculated and waited for him to show up, hoping that he wouldn’t take much longer.
