Neville was busy getting pots together that looked like they had squirming leaves sticking out of them. Of course they had squirming leaves sticking out of them because they were mandrakes, which were much like a baby with leaves sticking out of their heads, but not very pretty looking babies. He had just gotten a new shipment in that year like he did every year for Mandrakes leaves were useful for many things.
He was setting the pots out onto the tables that the students sit as, as well as placing an empty pot that was bigger than the ones they were in next to them. He was going to have his students repot them for their lesson, but of course before they were going to do that he wanted to see what they knew about them. Neville had always enjoyed teaching Herbology for the several years that he has now, Herbology was his passion after all. Sure he had enjoyed being an Auror with Harry and Ron for a while, but he knew that teaching Herbology was his true calling.
Once he had everything sat up he waited at the front of the class writing on the chalkboard for the students to see. “Today’s Lesson: Mandrakes ” He hoped that they would enjoy this lesson, though it would be a be a bit of work for them to repot the mandrakes. Once he was done he turned from the chalkboard and waited for the students to enter, hoping they were eager to learn. (( This is October's lesson and will go until the end of the RP month of October. I do hope you all enjoy it! ))

With her school bag slung over her shoulder, Roxanne walked toward the green houses where she would be taking her Herbology class today. She always had mixed feelings about this class. Roxanne enjoyed the classes most of the time, despite how warm and stuffy it became inside those houses made of glass, but other times the lessons could be extremely boring. But there was always a bunch to learn; five years worth that they forced one to learn.
The brown leather book was tucked under her left arm so Roxanne had to throw her shoulder into the door to open it. The familiar smells of dirt and must hit her hard in the face making her cough a little as she made her way to one of the tables in the front. "Good Morning Nev..Professor Longbottom." Roxanne said with a bright smile. Sometimes it was hard for her to remember to call Neville Professor Longbottom for he was a friend of the family and was often seen around family events and such. Roxanne liked Professor Longbottom well enough, he knew just about everything to do with plants.
A movement caught her attention and Roxanne glanced in front of her. There were two brown pots before her. One was empty and bigger than the other one. The smaller pot had a plant in it that the leaves were moving. Not knowing what was inside the plant Roxanne scooted back in her chair afraid that the plant might be dangerous.

Walking down to the greenhouses, Hugo slung his black shoulder bag over his shoulder and bit his lip. This would be his first class since leaving the hospital wing, and he knew how much work he would have to catch up on, the thought of that was just as dauting as actually having to go to this class. He glanced over his shoulder when he heard a noise behind him, and he shook his head, he was being stupid to think anyone would be following him now, it was the middle of the day, and there were people all around, still he quickened his step and walked into the greenhouse that they were supposed to be in today, closing the door behind him, he moved over to one of the empty desks and dropped into the seat and dropped his bag beside the chair.
He saw his cousin already in the room, and he offered her a small smile, but figured he could talk to her after class, though he was avoiding talking to most people at the moment, he was getting tired of being asked if he remebered anything yet. He looked at the two pots in front of him and he tilted the empty one toward him to see if there was anything inside. There wasnt, then it was the one with the plant in it that had him intrigued, it was moving, and while that wasnt unusual for plants around hogwarts, this one had him intrigued, since it wasnt just the plant moving, the soil was too. He dug in the soil with one finger for a moment and then ventured his eyes to the board, and read the word mandrake. So thats what they were.

Herbology was one of Arianna's least favorite classes. Even though she had a love for flowers she much preferred to look at the pretty little things than get her hands dirty with them. Herbology almost always involved Arianna getting dirty which she was not fond of at all. A Princess was not suppose to be mucking about in the dirt with the daisies, at least thats what her father always told her. But a Princess wasn't all that Arianna was, that was just a part of her. A piece that didn't exist in the wizarding world. Here, she was simply known as Arianna Leigh Covington, Ravenclaw fifth year prefect, not Princess Arianna Eliza Maria Leigh Covington of Luxembourg. It was nice to escape that long title.
Arianna glided across the field, heading toward the class she was dreading. Pushing open the door she noticed that she was early seeing as there were only two other students who she didn't know, but she didn't mind. She placed her bag neatly on the able before her, trying not to knock over the pots that also occupied the table. She looked on the board and saw that they would be learning about mandrakes, whatever those were.

Neville was glad to see that Hugo was able to make it to his class, despite the recent events that had happened to him. But we’re not going to think about those during this class, no cause the students will need their full attention on the Mandrakes. He smiled at each of the students as they made their way into the greenhouse, he sure hoped they would enjoy today’s lesson. “ Alright, today will be studying Mandrakes. Can anyone tell me a little bit about them?” he asked the class out loud. Looking across the room he wondered which student would be the one to answer his question first.
He remembered his first mandrake lesson. Though he did know the answer back then as well, he had been shy and timid to answer and instead Hermione Granger, now known as Hermione Potter, had answered first instead. Then again in his class it had always been Hermione that was to answer first.
Neville began to walk around with a box of ear muffs and began placing one in front of each of the students as he waited for one of them to answer his question. Of course he hoped one of them would understand why they would be needing them.

Although Roxanne had an uneasy feeling in her stomach, due to not knowing the contents of the pot, she was curious none-the-less. The plant was actually moving, which wasn't that uncommon seeing as Roxanne knew plenty of plants that moved, such as the whomping willow, but she figured that the lesson would be interesting because how could a moving plant not be interesting?
Roxanne waited for other students to arrive. That was one of the bad things about arriving early to class, one had to sit there and wait for it to begin. It was strange that Roxanne had been so early to class, being the first to arrive, but she couldn't change that now and it was much better than being late and receiving a detention for it.
Roxanne was surprised by the next person that walked into the room. She hadn't heard anything much about her younger cousin but apparently her was well enough now to return to classes. She returned his smile and wanted nothing more to go over there and talk to him to make sure he was alright but Roxanne understood that Hugo most likely didn't want to talk about the incident. Although she would not bring it up if he didn't wish to speak about it.
As a deep voice began to talk Roxanne looked to the front of the class. He announced that they would be studying mandrakes today and suddenly Roxanne felt stupid. She had heard the story a million times now about how Mandrakes saved her aunt Hermione's life as well as countless others. But how she was a bit vague on. She thought for a minute, trying to recall the times in her life that she heard about Mandrakes.
"Aren't mandrakes plants that look and act sort of like humans in different stages? She asked more than answered. "They can also be used in a potion to help restore those who have been...scared...no petrified." Roxanne added a bit unsure that she was even right. "Oh and there cry is fatal." Roxanne said feeling more sure about her last statement.

Neville looked out to his class as he waited for someone to reply to his question. He noticed that some of the students were fidgeting in their seats as if they weren’t completely sure about whether or not they knew the answer. He was a bit afraid that perhaps none of them knew the answer at all. Hadn’t they read their books like they are supposed to? But then again he knew how his friends were back when he used to go to Hogwarts. Not all of them read their books. Neville was one of the few that read the Herbology books as it was his favorite class after all.
“Aren't mandrakes plants that look and act sort of like humans in different stages?” his head turned to find that it was Roxanne Weasley that spoke up. He smiled at her as if to tell her to continue on. He was glad that someone was now speaking up. “They can also be used in a potion to help restore those who have been...scared...no petrified.” He continued to listen as he noticed the uncertainty in her voice before she said one last thing that she had more confidence in. “Oh and there cry is fatal.” Neville nodded. She had it pretty spot on. “Good job Miss Weasley. Ten points to Gryffindor,” he said as he moved on over to the earmuffs that he had set out for himself. He of course had one set out at each of the students tables for them to use.
“Now as Miss Weasley said, their cries are quite fatal. However, with how young these ones are, they will only make you faint, but we don’t want to take any chances do we? So I would like for all of you to put your earmuffs on and we’re going to repot them into a bigger pot as these ones are growing quite rapidly,” he told the class before he put his earmuffs on and then he waited and watch the class hoping that they would get their earmuffs on quickly.

Dread filled Arianna's stomach. Every time she didn't know the answer to something she felt as if she was failing. Maybe that was because Ravenclaw's pride themselves so much of being the most intelligent of the houses that when she didn't know the answer she felt as if maybe she was in the wrong house. Herebology just happened to be one of Arianna's worst subject. Not that she a troll in the class but her interest for it was not high enough that she would read material before the class. Yes, some plants were fascinating and others were just plants, nothing special.
Arianna listened to the Gryffindor girl answer the question, earning ten points for her house. This made Arianna feel even worse but hopefully she would be able to earn some points today for Ravenclaw. Mandrakes did indeed sound like an interesting plant, although she didn't really want to get dirty she was becoming a bit more focused toward the task at hand. Arianna rolled up her sleeves and grabbed her earmuffs hesitantly. "Professor, how are we suppose to know what to do if we can't hear you?" She asked. Arianna didn't want to miss any important information from the Professor instructing them on how to re-pot a Mandrake.

The entire time Roxanne was answering professor Longbottom's question she hadn't really been sure about what she was saying. It all was based on a hunch, or rather things she had heard in her parent's and family's stories. It surprised her when the professor said she had been right and earned her house ten points. She was quite proud of herself for remembering something from when she was younger. When she was a little girl her father use to tell tales of Uncle Harry, Uncle Ron, Aunt Hermione, and the rest of the gang as a bed time story. Who knew things like that would come in handy.
Roxanne picked up a pair of earmuffs, still beaming from her success, and placed them snugly on her ears. She did not want to end up fainting during class although it would be rather amusing if she or someone else did. Roxanne looked down at the plant before her wondering just exactly how it looked. She guessed she would find out soon enough. Adverting her eyes to Professor Longbottom she waited to hear or rather see what she was suppose to do next.

Hugo sat quietly while he listened to Neville and Roxanne tell the class about the Mandrakes plant. He leant his arm forward on the table and restsed his head against it. Herebology wasnt his favorite subject, and some lessons werent interesting, and he was thinking this was one of them. He glanced at the plant and grabbed a small stick from the soil and started drawing patterns in the dirt as he half took in what was being said, through he wasnt really listning. He heard something about earmuffs and his head looked up. He hated wearing things like that, and he looked at the pair in front of him on the desk and bit his lip slightly. Well this was going to be embarrasing, but at least they were grey, not some gawdy color like pink or purple or anything.
He moved to pick the earmuffs up and looked up when he heard some ravenclaw girl speak up about not baing able to hear neville if they had the earmuffs one, well she raised a valid point. What would they do it they had to take the earmuffs of to listen to the teacher while the mandrakes were still out of the pot. A small laugh escaped his mouth and he bit it back quickly. He looked down slightly and realised how stupid that had sounded in his head and he quickly rushed to put the earmuffs on, not borthring to feel itf they were in right and he looked at the pot then the teach for more information, maybe Neville was just gonna write down what they had to do or something.
