taylor breathed out as the last of her OWL class filed out. she quickly took out her wand, waving it across the classroom languidly and moving the cushions left over to the edge of the classroom. most of them had successfully managed to banish them, and so there were only a couple left over - some had transcended on to live animals, and a couple of frogs that hadn't been bannished where hopping off the edges of desks and trying to escape.
"come back here.." taylor rolled her eyes and smiled lightly as she waved her wand and gently sent them soaring toward their box. she careflly dropped them into it and headed over to seal the top, the holes in the top allowing them plenty of air to breath. she replaced them back where they came from then turned to quickly straighten a desk or two which had been knocked off center. there, all set. she needed no props for this NEWT class, planning on teaching them the disillusionment charm and therefore needing nothing else but the students their text books and their wands. taylor perched on the edge of her desk, wand next to her, and waited for them to arrive.
( ooc , this is the NEWT class, and will run on to the 20th july. homework will be posted within the next day or so and points awarded to those who complete it! )

It was also one of the few classes that could be very useful in the long run. Charms would be very helpful in the near future and so she was very energetic about the lesson, even if it did not seem so. She walked from her last class wondering what the days lesson would be. She made sure that she did not miss the charms class considering she never missed the club meetings. That would look really bad to not make it to the class and make it to the club. She did not like to draw any attention, especially this year with the tournament. It was starting to bug her but she was still able to stay out of others way.
She walked into the class and took a seat in the front row in the corner as always. It did not surprise her that she was the first one there. "Good day Professor Paxton" She stated with a nod towards the professor before taking out her textbook for the class. She placed her wand on the desk next to the book. She knew that most likely the lesson would involve some wand usage. She was silent as she waited for the other students to file in and for the class to start.

she thought she was going to be late. the morning had been spent.. once more.. in the bathroom .. bringing up breakfast she'd had to force down. this had to be the worst thing about pregnancy ... the morning sickness. what was worse that there was nobody there. yes, she had cade... but he couldn't exactly help her with her being in the girls dorms and not knowing. her sister was in slytherin, her brother in ravenclaw...and she didn't really have any friends.
so she was on her own.. and so as she headed along the third floor to the charms classroom she'd worried she was going to be late. she still felt a little off, and she rubbed her stomach slightly. luckily word hadn't got out .. yet .. she was dreading when it did, and she could only plead with fate that she didn't have to bolt from charms to be ill...she really, really hoped. at least if she could hide the pregnancy until summer.. people wouldn't know? she was alienated enough as it was, she didn't need anymore people to hate her.
she slipped into the classroom, giving professor paxton a small smile before slipping into a backseat - at least that way if her breakfast did want to reappear again..she could hopefully slip out without too much attention. she sighed and brought out her book and wand, wanting to enjoy the lesson but unable to help feeling worried about the time ahead. honestly? she was terrified, and she had no idea how she was going to get through the next few months and classes and exams...

theia was early for a change. usually she'd head off to the lesson as it was starting, rather than five minutes before like everyone else. she didn't really care, she still passed with decent grades. the only thing she really liked was potions. charms? not so much.. but she'd kinda been forced into the subject by her mother and father, and so she dared not skip a class.
she slipped into the classroom, nodding at the miss. paxton - she was her head of house too anyway - and frowning as she saw she was the third one there. huh where was everyone? not that it mattered to theresa kelsey anyway. her frown deepened when she noticed that both other students were gryffindors. blech gryffies. and on top of that, one of them was a wulfe - lower than low in theia's mind, but that was her parents upbringing cutting in on her judgements there, and though she didn't tend to go along the whole blood purists line, she couldn't help but dislike gyffindors and werewolves on principle.
theia slipped into a seat away from both gryffies in the back row - the other side to the wolf - and brought out the things she might need for the lesson, setting into the seat and hoping beyond god that someone she knew and preferably liked turned up...

With a bounce in her step, just as there usually was, Poppy made her way to Charms class, eager to see what they’d be learning today. She wasn’t a particularly bright student, though she excelled naturally in few subjects, but she was a hard worker, and did the best she could. Charms was one of the subjects she found particularly hard to grasp, but with time and patience, she’d managed to do well on her O.W.L.s and made it to the N.E.W. T.s class. Last year, she’d spent what seemed like all of her free time just getting into the few N.E.W.T. classes she was taking, and now, she was going to have to work just as hard to stay in them. And to be honest, she was going to need help.
Last year, a few of her friends had volunteered to help her study and practice, and while she appreciated the help at the time, she hadn’t really envisioned that she’d been taking their study time too. When the comment had been innocently mentioned in conversation one day, Alice had willingly given up her ‘study buddies’ and had fended for herself. Luckily, she had had enough help to get her going, but now, she didn’t want to bother them a second time, even when she knew they’d be willing to help.
Charms, she knew, was going to be difficult this year, and after carefully deliberating (which in Poppy-terms meant thinking about it for all of two seconds) decided that the only person that could really help her would be Professor Paxton herself. It was her job, after all, wasn’t it? To help the students that weren’t quite understanding. And Poppy surely fell into that category quite often. She resigned herself to her plan of lagging behind at the end of class and asking Miss Paxton for extra work, to see if that would help. She didn’t want to trouble her with tutoring if it wasn’t necessary.
Following the small crowd of students heading in the same direction as she, Poppy ducked into the Charms classroom as it passed by, skipping the entire way. Even her impending failure in this class couldn’t ruin her mood. Dampen it, maybe, but Poppy was known for finding the light in the worst of times.
Plastering one of her pretty smiles on her thick lips, she waved brightly to Miss Paxton. “Hello Professor,” she added before taking her seat near the front of the class, but not directly in the front row as she was usually afraid of being called on in class. Humming a jaunty tune to herself, her hand dipped into her bag to grab a hold of her text book, only to be met with fur. “Frankie!” she whispered harshly and pulled the fat cat out of her bag and onto her lap. So that was why it was so heavy when she’d picked it up this morning...

Maharet had the great misfortune of walking behind the ever-peppy Poppy Longbottom. As the girl skipped along in front of Maggie she thought she would actually hurl it was such a disgusting cute thing to do. It reminded Maharet of a small child, no more than six, making their merry way toward something actually enjoyable. Instead here the Puff was seemingly so bright and cheerful about Charms class. Maharet didn’t particularly dislike the subject, it was useful enough, but to be that chipper over it… no matter how much she needed to come across as a good girl she would never resort to that. Just the notion of skipping herself made Maggie shudder. Her pace slowed considerably so that Poppy could get out of her sight so the smile that she slapped on her face would be more believable.
Entering, Maharet flashed a respectable smile toward Professor Paxton. She had to give it to the lady; she was totally every teenage boy’s hot for teacher dream. Maggie was even a little impressed herself, which probably helped her keep an amiable rapport with the Charms professor. Glancing around at the others in the room Maharet with held a sneer. She didn’t favour a single person there. Two Champions, and she used that term loosely, Little Miss Sunshine and… that was Hector’s sister, wasn’t it? She looked a bit ill, beyond that though Maggie paid very little attention to her other than directing a smaller smile in her direction.
However, she found a seat all to herself, all the way in the back. Maharet liked to keep an eye on those around her and it was a much better vantage point if they were in front of her rather than behind. Her satchel gently slipped off of her shoulder resting on the ground at her high-heeled feet, and Maggie bent to retrieve her wand and textbook from the bag sitting both on the table in front of her, neatly. Sitting up straight once more Maharet brushed a stray lock of hair out of her face gently before setting her gaze toward the front of the class, occasionally glancing at those around her casually, while she waited for the rest of the class to come along.

deimos didn't really like charms. he thought it was a poncy, silly little subject. sure, it had it's uses - charms such as alohomora and such were pretty on the nifty side, however he could learn them easy from the book, why'd he have to bother getting up and going to the damn class? sighing, deimos headed along the corridor, catching glimpses of a couple of familiar looking students - younger than him - heading toward the charms class too. he groaned and shook his head. great, there were going to be all those annoying sixth years like that longbottom girl weren't there.
ducking into the classroom, deimos paused in the doorway, shifting the strap of his bag highing onto his broad right shoulder, his green, silver fleck eyes flickered around the room, sighing and frowning, the silver flecks dissapearing. he could see only one fellow ravenclaw and he didn't particulary talk to her, though he found her fairely interesting considering the humours.
running a ahand through his hair, ruffling it and heading toward a seat in the middle row, he slung his bag under the desk and lounged in the chair, pulling out book and wand before looking at the professor.. he'd never bothered to learn her name yet, he supposed he would some time in the future maybe.

It had been a long day for Shailene Wood and already she was exhausted. There had been a lot of course work throughout the day and Shailene still had another class to attend. But even though she was tired she still had a smile on her face, every bit the cheerful Hufflepuff. Unlike most students Shailene enjoyed all the work and learning. She knew they were just preparing her for the real world and making it on her own. The only down side of her day was her partner in Transfiguration, he had been horrible to work with. So it went without saying that Shailene was hoping that the charms lesson wouldn't call for a partner.
Shailene adjusted her polka-dotted back pack on her shoulder as she continued up to the corridor that held Charms. She entered the classroom to find it quite full and was relieved to find out that she wasn't late. She claimed a seat near the front of the class, placing her bag on the floor next to her desk. She withdrew the materials for the class and arranged them on the desk neatly before placing her hands in her lap and waiting in silence for directions.

There was yet another class to attend and Zmeyette feared that the cycle would never end. Thankfully though this was the last class of the day and she couldn't wait for it to finish. Charms class was one of her least favorite classes, one she did quite poorly in. Zmeyette pawned it off on the idea that she was a werewolf and was naturally unhappy since most charms needed a cheerful wand waver for them to work. Zmeyette was, of course, the exact opposite. How she had managed a OWL in this class she would never know.
Zmeyette strolled into class, her bag hanging lazily from her shoulder. She tossed it onto one of the open tables and claimed a seat. withdrawing the materials everyone else seemed to take out she placed them on her desk. It seemed like such a wasted hour to come and sit in the company of cheerful people who were so obnoxiously happy but Zmeyette needed to do whatever it took to get out of this hell hole. If she didn't graduate, well she was sure her daddy would have a bit to say about it as well as a severe and painful punishment. If Zmeyette feared anyone in this world it certainly was her father.

There was no one in the hall way. There was no one in the hall way and she hadn’t been paying attention the class bells. Well Sweet Salazar, at least those boy’s lips had been worth it. When they finally realized they were alone, Blythe pulled her mouth off of his with great force as he seemed reluctant to let her go. As much as she hated class and really didn’t want to go, she really did not want detention or points taken off of her house. She was determined to get Slytherin to win this year, they’d already won their first quidditch match which was making things look promising. Blythe, for one, wasn’t going to lose any points if she didn’t have to. Besides, her next class was with her head of house too.
Using only the more deserted and less used corridors, Blythe hurried -she never ran- over to charms class as quickly as she could, having taken off her heels and was now running in her socks as to not damage the precious items. She’d be damned if she lost house points and one of her favourite pairs of shoes all in one day, that just wouldn’t do. When she finally reached her classroom, she pushed open the door quickly and let herself in quietly as to not attract any attention to herself. Taking a quick look around the class as she took the last seat in the back, she noted that barely anyone was here and that class hadn’t even started. “Ridiculous,” she muttered angrily, all that rushing for nothing.

as the class filed in mostly one by one - a couple arriving in small groups of two - professor paxton gave them each a small smile, nodding to those who verbally greeted her as she waited for them to sit down in whichever seats they prefered and settle down. she shifting to her feet, prefering to walk infront of the desks, almost pacing but she didn't have the same urgency as someone would who was pacing. once most of the seats had been filled, taylor glanced at the time and figured that she should start now, and anyone else who came would be late.
glancing about the class lightly she gave a small nod to them. "afternoon class," she said, eyes glazing over their faces to ensure that they were listening to her, and that their attention was on her now rather than their books, bags or friends. "today we're going to be learning the disllusionment charm... can anyone tell me the purpose of this charm?" she asked, starting off with a simple question in order to get the class involved and hopefully awake - she knew how it often took a few minutes for students to get involved in a class.

Even if she knew the answers she preferred to just leave it at that and not bring attention to herself. However she did fell like she needed to change somewhat considering all the things that were happening that year, good and bad. There was also the feeling that most of the people in the class did not necessarily get along. It was kind of funny to her that these were the people who did well enough on the OWL's to be in the class yet they did not get along.
She took a deep breath making up her mind to answer. "The Disillusionment Charm is a spell that is used to hide something. This spell causes the object to take on the appearance of whatever is behind it. It is typically used to hide magical creatures or objects from Muggles" She stated while looking at the wall more so than the professor. Her voice was very strait forward, not showing any emotion. She was looking forward to learning the charm, nevertheless. It was an interesting spell that could really come in handy in the near future.

Most of the time, Poppy had no idea what the teacher was talking about in class until she actually got her hands on her wand and tried it out herself. Usually she was pretty good with the practical part of performing spells, but the theory part, the part that explained how and why they worked, she could never really understand. Honestly, she just performed spells without really knowing how they were done, only that they worked when she was finished, which was probably not the smartest or safest choice for her, or anyone else for that matter. Still, she did her best to listen and pick up what she could from the lesson. At least today she knew what a disillusionment charm was... kind of. But she still wasn’t going to speak up, someone else had beaten her to it anyway.
As she listened to the other girl explain what the charm was used for, her hand continued to message through the fur of her cat, who had taken up residence on her lap and didn’t seem to be moving. Noticing that she should probably be taking notes, Poppy had to shift Frankie to get closer to her desk, and in result, pushed his head backward so he could see what was behind her. Before she could put him back in a more comfortable position, he had already shot off her lap and behind her. “Frankie!” she whispered harshly, going to grab him back before he could get to anyone. Her cat wasn’t all that friendly with other people sometimes and was prone to random outbursts of violence when he saw fit, so it was best she get him back in her arms as quickly as she could.

the dislussionment charm.. hmm he supposed that wouldn't be too boring at least; might make for a relatively intersting lesson. he shifted in his chair, stretching out his long legs luxuriously and sinking into the seat. just because he thought the sepll may be interesting to master didn't mean he felt the need to listen; who cared how or why it worked? he already knew what it did, and then he'd just need to learn how to cast it and then he was set. the lessons should be that simple. come in, learn a charm straight off, leave once you've mastered it. he'd be in and out within ten seconds.
he had been paying so little attention that when he heard some sort of scuffle going on in the seat infront of him he raised his eyebrows, sure he saw a ball of fluff shifting in that girls lap - the over-ly happy hufflepuff girl. longbottoms daughter. he didn't recognise what the fluff was or what it intended until it was flying for him, feeling a stab of pain in his leg as he could have sworn the thing dug claws into him. he jumped, surprised more than anything, and hissed slightly in pain, jerking his legs away from the horrific creature. "control your goddamn animal, and if you can't then don't bring it to glass you stupid girl." he burst out at the girl, irritated more than he'd been in a while. if that thing had broken skin... he was seriously going to go off at that poppy girl...

The late bell had rung and it's echo could be heard traveling down the many corridors in Hogwarts. Vasilisa was officially late to class, not that it mattered much to her, she would arrive when she saw fit. Dressed in her wizarding robes, the ones she completely hated since it didn't show off her body any, she walked down the halls a clicking noise coming from every step she took. Hogwarts was a uniform school but many didn't strictly stick to the code. Vasilisa couldn't stand the standard issues shoes so she always wore heels with her uniform. Today's heels were black.
Around five minutes after the bell had rang the Slytherin girl walked into the class when some Gryffindor was answering a question the Professor had asked. Vasilisa just rolled her eyes as she found a seat one of the few open seats left. She had to sit next to a Ravenclaw boy who was chastising a lowly Hufflepuff who couldn't control her only friend. Vasilisa snicked at the boys harshness. "Nice." She said before turning her attention toward the fromt of the class.

Charms class was always such a bore, it was all about flicking ones wand around making crap happen, usually things that affected emotions, which he didn't want to mess with. Ethan already knew he was late, he was far from the class when the bell rang but that did not make him speed up his steps anymore. Actually, Ethan strolled casually down the corridors as if he had no where to be and to him that was exactly how it was. Why on earth did he have to bother with classes? He was perfectly happy doing as he pleased. But the thought of another detention made him scoot his butt to class though he stayed at his own lazy pace.
Finally Ethan arrived to a full class and he slipped in and claimed a seat next to gorgeous blonde girl named Maharet. She was a sexy Ravenclaw who seemed to walk a bit on the bad side or at least he heard wind of her crazy antics. "Hey there." He said to the girl giving her a small smile. He didn't care whatever the professor and some Gryffindor was going on about, he would pay attention to the Ravenclaw next to him if she decided to bend a bit and not be so studious.

Maharet looked between Professor Paxton and the nobody Gryffindor, though she knew that the girl was the female Gryffindor Champoin, to Maggie, she was still a nobody, as they exchanged words. First years should have known what a Disillusionment charm was and she quickly lost interest with the lesson. Stifling a yawn there were much more entertaining things going on in the classroom. If not for Deimos’ harsh words she might not have noticed the hideous creature on Poppy’s lap, Maharet was pretty sure it was a cat but couldn’t be sure without close examination, which wouldn’t happen. The thing was a beast, positively ghastly.
The least she could do was pretend to pay attention though. Maharet didn’t fancy having house points deducted from her, at least not until one of the Frost boys came over to sit with her. She disliked the fact that it was so hard to tell the triplets apart. If not for the Syltherin tie that he was wearing Maggie was sure she would have mistaken him for one of his brothers. Her gaze traveled over Ethan’s body taking it in and a small smile perched itself on her lips. “Hello Ethan.” Keeping her voice quiet Maharet figured that she might as well make it husky as well as though she were interested in him. There were worse people to be interested in of course. At least Ethan was good looking, not to mention it seemed that Maharet did better with bad boys. Angling her body to face him slightly Maggie crossed one long leg over the other intentionally rubbing it up against Ethan in the process.
