She had been apart of the dueling club since she first started school and last year it was a seventh year who was in charge. As far as she knew it was usually a seventh year who was captain. Now here she was waiting for the other members to show up as head of her favorite club. She loved coming to the club and believed that even if there were so many things that were going on at the school with the attack, the tournament and such it would do some good to have something that would take the minds off of the troubles. That is what she hoped to accomplish this year.
The moment the members step into the room they were no longer of a house or had a title. Here every was treated as equals. That was her only major rule for this year. This club was about bettering your skills to fight and defend. She looked down at the list of names. She knew some from former years but she did not know them. She was a little worried that James and Scorpius were part of the club, but even she suggested that they settle things in the club and not in the halls. She was sitting on of the dueling platforms as she questioned what she was doing here.
This was not her scene. She did not know if she could do much instruction or even her job. There were two professors in charge of the club but this was still her responsibility. She knew that the moment the members walked through the door then she would have to act the right way. Alaya knew what to do but she didn't know that if her history with not interacting with others would make this a very troublesome year. She could always quit but it wasn't in her nature. She was determined to do her best this year and really make a name for herself. She was a Gryffindor Champion and had nothing to her name, not any more.

James wasn't one to attend dueling club, but today he had a personal vendetta against Scorpius. Hoping that pig of a Slytherin would show his face there, and he could settle things old school just like his father had done to Malfoy's father. That name was just a blister on the sole of his foot, but he knew fully well that they had assumed he was still not going to apologize to Albus. Surely, they must have heard that, but he wasn't going to let his pride break to apologize to Scorpius at all, but if he was defeated in a duel, maybe he'd conceit defeat to that primp of a loser. James was in a foul mood as he wandered the hall, wearing the heavy cloaks to keep himself from catching a cold due to the change in the weather.
Wearing a warm long-sleeve black sweater and black jeans to cover his body from the extreme cold, while he wore some black sneakers for a change. Wondering what else he could have done to make this a little better, but he gritted his teeth expecting to see a scene unfold before him where the hall would just erupt into chaos again. James was not normally like this, but he needed to relieve this pent up stress or else he'd be damaging himself far more. Worrying about the task had taken it's toll on him too, but he didn't let that show to anyone not even his best friends. Alaya was one, and Frankie was the other one. Their little trio sure had it's quirks, but he knew fully well that he couldn't be standing by each one.
Finally he entered the club and then smiled slightly as he noticed Alaya, having his wand put away before he entered just to make sure that she knew he wasn't pissed at anyone. Stewing for the past while over childish things like the fact he couldn't get over the fact Scorpius had attempted to defend Albus, it almost didn't seem fair that the punk had the nerve to even stop him from hitting him. James would have gladly punched Scorpius and got into a fist fight over the prudish snob. Just like his brother, but blaming them got him nowhere as he soon settled down finally. Relaxing as he breathed deeply to keep himself calm. "Hey Alaya, so I'm the only one to show up so far huh?" he asked her politely.
