Val walked back into the Slytherin common room. It had been a long day and all she wanted to do was go to bed but it was only 4 in the afternoon and if she did she would be awake at two in the morning. Although she knew she had decent looks Val knew she still needed her beauty sleep. She walked across the room waving at a couple of fifth year Slytherins passing by. Val did not know them per say but she always kept up her friendly appearance but today had been trying so she need Z to come back so she could vent a little bit. She found a picture of her and her sister in her bag just as she was thinking about her. Val had known Zmeyette since she was six as her father would usually tote her along to see her (and her other siblings that chose to live with their mothers). However the turning point in their relationship seemed to be when Valerie was eleven and sorted into Slytherin.
She looked at her watch, 'Z should be back soonish' she thought to herself. The past five years had been the best of her life and frankly she credits her siblings for that but more Z because of the closeness that she had with her sister. Her younger sister was still very special to her and Val made a note to send a note to her later just to check up and make sure that her classes were going well. Val was scribbling a note to herself about this. She searched through her leather suitcase messenger and sighed. She had a load of homework to do tonight and frankly she was not in the mood to do said homework but there was no way she was going to get into the healers program without top marks. She flipped through her planner and saw a note written to herself.
She sighed. Val was unsure if the full moon was tonight or tomorrow. If it was tonight it would sure as heck explain her tiredness but if it was tonight so much for her essays getting done. Valerie sighed she had always believed she had it together but times like this made her miserable. She thought about running to her professors and begging for an extension. She checked her watch again. 4:15. Usually on nights of the full moon Val and her siblings would eat at five, pack their stuff they would need for the next morning, meet in the entrance hall and then head out and wait out to the moon rising. She put her feet up and slid her shoes off. The previous two weeks had visions of the masquerade ball on her mind and finding a date. She smiled as she saw more people come in and out. She sat a little while longer and quietly mumbled "Come on Z, where are you?" She said slightly impatient. Val however caught herself, impatience was one of her worst qualities and she was trying to work on it.

The sun was coming through the window annoying the hell out of the small slytherin girl. "Someone needs to turn the damn sun off! Is that too much to ask?" She grumbled loudly, pulling the covers over her head. No one had heard the girl's request for the room was empty. It was not early morning like the young werewolf thought, but it was early evening. Students were returning from their last class off the day and heading down for dinner.
Zmeyette pushed the covers off her aching body and sat up. Her dark hair was a mess and she was still in her clothes from going to Hogsmeade yesterday. "What the hell happened?" She asked her reflection afterward she made her way to stand in front of it. Flashes of fire whiskey bottles, candy, an empty room, and blond hair filled her pounding head. "Ah, another hangover. Great. But at least I got some." She said with a small laugh, though she wasn't sure how much of the blond girl in her memories she got last night.
Finally Zmeyette realized that it was around four o'clock in the afternoon and muttered "Crap." She was suppose to meet her sister down stairs around this time, like most nights. They always went to dinner together, especially since it was a full moon tonight. Quickly combing her hair and changing into her Hogwarts robes, she rushed down stairs to meet her sister who was already sitting there waiting for her. "Hey sis." Zmeyette said with a smile.

Valerie scribbled a couple notes onto her parchment. She was debating walking up to her dorm and looking for herself at the moon calendar. She mentally kicked herself, really what kind of werewolf forgets when the full moon occurs? Just as Val was getting up she heard 'Hey Sis,' causing Val to snap her head in the direction of the speaker. She was in the Slytherin common room and the person had called her 'sis' so there was only one person it could be, but it still did not lessen her edginess. She saw Zmeyette walk down from her dorm. A smile pulled at Val's lip and she dared to ask a question she already knew the answer to, "Did you just wake up?" She said smiling. Valerie knew Zmeyette had a liking for firewhiskey, among other things. Val, although a fan of firewhiskey and butterbeer had never been hungover, she felt pity for Zmeyette as she would have to endure a change in this condition, the thought alone made Val avoid alcohol like the plague the day before a change.
Valerie put away her books and asked the biggest question on her mind. "Zemy," she started using her sisters nickname from childhood, "Is the full moon tonight or tomorrow, because if it is tonight I have three essays due tomorrow so I would need to go talk to my professors to get an extension on them, after dinner of course." She said nervously while biting her lip. She remembered the sorting hat nearly placing her in Ravenclaw due to the pride she took in her schoolwork, and mentally kicked herself because she had trying to be "more Slytherin-like," as some of her house mates had suggested. Valerie partially agreed with them as she wasn't extremely fond of her own reputation. She cringed at the thought of another student making a comment about how she couldn't be Greyback's kid, like one did in her first year.
Then on the to less serious business, Val's smiled crept across her face. "Z, are you going to the masquerade ball? I hear its going to be something verging on epic but I would personally like to see for myself." Actually Val had visions of her in a silky dress that played up her figure, with a handsome Slytherin boy on her arm to which she would dance the night away and have a very magical evening with, her problem though, Slytherin boys that reach her standards are in short supply and high demand. "I really want you to go dress shopping with me," Val said earnestly, even if Zmeyette wouldn't go, Val still respected her tastes in fashion above anyone else she knew "I was thinking maybe something emerald or shock everyone in a gorgeous red number." She said with a smile sneaking across her face.

Valerie watched her sister plop down on the couch. She smirked at this as it was moments like this that caused her to snicker. She and Z were best friends from the moment her father introduced her to her seven year old sister at the time and Val never ceased receiving a bit of entertainment from her antics. She raised her eyebrows at Zmeyette, she knew Z could not see her through a pillow but she gave her the motherly look that her siblings had come to know and in some cases fear. Valerie heard her sister ask if she was that predictable. Val pondered the question for a second and slyly replied "To your sister, yes you are but I have known you since I was six so I think I have a bit of a leg up on everyone else." She said with another grin creeping across her face. Val could read Z somewhat well but she always felt like Zmeyette could read her like an open book with extra large font and pictures. She listened to Z start her promise to never do something again but Val just raised her eyebrows and Z cut off. "Yeah if you would have finished that statement I think I would have to follow with I will never eat another chocolate frog as long as I live." Val smiled inwardly at the idea of Zmeyette not enjoying firewhiskey and her not eating chocolate frogs for at least one meal a week.
Val turned her attention back to her notes. She re-wrote portions to make her handwriting clearer. She noticed that Z had taken a bit of an interest in what she was doing. "Nothing really," Val replied tucking her hair behind her ears "Rewriting some notes, finishing up some final translations for Ancient Runes and trying to scribble a note home to dad." She said truthfully. Val had always been a multi-tasker so doing multiple types of homework or other tasks were never remotely distracting for her. She then quickly flashed back to her dad. Tonight was the full moon he would be heading out pretty quickly to get himself set. Valerie loved her father dearly but she could never think of inflicting pain on anyone. She cared for her family so much that she would place her family with their family so she wasn't just attacking a girl, she was attacking someone else's Zmeyette or she wasn't just attacking a man she was attacking someone else's Fenrir. Of course she could not control this during a transformation but after an instance when she hurt a muggle when she was 12, she felt horrible and it took two weeks to coax her out of the Slytherin common room. "Yeah I know I could feel it but the only signs I really get is tiredness and frankly after being up late for the last three nights doing homework well I couldn't tell if it was tiredness from that or the moon." She laughed at herself. She then whipped out her planner that had a color-coordinated note on nearly everyday and she flipped to November and marked in red the next full moon.
Valerie then heard Z ask about her essays. She immediately thought about the brand of help Zmeyette was offering and she quickly downplayed it. "Oh no its fine, my Professors adore me," She gushed "I will send them a note and I will be surprised, personally, if I don't receive an entire extra week." She said fluttering her eyelashes of course Val had a charming nature that came from her con-artist mother but she generally used it for school reasons. She had no idea exactly how long her professors would give her but she as long as she had tomorrow night she would be fine. "I got it Zmey." She smiled back at her sister reassuringly "but thanks for the offer."
When Val heard that Z would go to the ball and dress shopping with her she squealed in the girliest way she thought possible. It even shocked her with the girliness of the squeal. "Yay this is going to be fun." She said excitedly. "I am not sure but I can see you in a sultry black number." She said pouting her lips out in a grin. It was true that no one pulled off mystery like her older sister but Val could not resist "or an emerald number for loyalty." She laughed partially. She thought of the ball and how every girl would show up in a dress of their house color however that opened the idea to a lovely silver dress for her. She thought of a ball with out Zmeyette and she smiled. "Yes what would I do without you keeping me company all night?" She smiled. Val personally would have liked to find a date but Hogwarts had very few students that met her standards.

It was hard to believe that these two girls upon the couch, one of dark hair and the other of blonde, were related at all. The two were polar opposites besides for the simple fact that they both ended up in the same house at Hogwarts. But both were planted here for different reasons. Valerie was a Slytherin due to her determined nature, as for Zmeyette, it was the pure link between Fenrir's and her own personality. Both were viscous creatures who enjoyed the taste of flesh during a full moon if granted a chance as well as sharing the same down look on blood lines. Valerie was open minded and didn't care where anyone came from, it was hard to believe this girl was her sister and best friend but the bond they shared was unbreakable and perhaps Valerie is a good influence on the jaded werewolf. They were ying and yang.
"That better be the reason or else I'm going to have to change some things up around here. Can't have people knowing what my next move is." Zmeyette said, she couldn't bare the thought of being boring and predictable, that would take the fun out of life for the girl. Zmeyette laughed at the comparison of their weaknesses. The fact that Zmeyette loved her fire whiskey and Valerie's addiction was to chocolate frogs gave a big insight on their personalities. "Ah, dear sister I fear that your addiction for the sweet frogs is worse than mine for the fiery liquid. I could out last you." Zmeyette said with a smirk.
Zmeyette frowned while Valerie explained all that she was working on. "I seriously think the sorting hat screwed up on you, you should of been placed in Ravenclaw not Slytherin." Zmeyette stated, not meaning it as an insult. "You work way too much. Plus why on earth would you take Ancient Runes, its a waste of time. When are you ever going to need that." Zmeyette asked, knowing full well that it was a class just to waste time with. "Oh and send daddy some love from me too." Zmeyette added quickly. She never understood how Valerie could work on so much at once while Zmeyette avoided the simplest of projects.
"Lucky you, the professors practically hate me...well except for most of the male ones because I know how to handle them." Zmeyette said slyly, only half joking to see her sister's reaction. Of course Zmeyette wasn't afraid to try and persuade her Professors in such a manner, it was just sad that none of the females professors were into the same gender around here, or at least she didn't think they were.
"Over done. I'm not exactly sure what color I'm going to go for yet. I was leaning toward silver but I'm not so sure anymore." Zmeyette said with a frown on her face. "Well your mystery date will be keeping you company. Haven't you heard we are getting secret dates." Zmeyette said.

Val smiled at Z. She loved her sister more than just about anyone in the world. It was a sisterly love of respect and blood ties. Being a werewolf had its draw back in her eyes but the one bonus she got was a family that could relate to her and understand what it was like to be different. Valerie's mother was someone she did not care for. She had seen her maybe once since she was 12 and Fenrir nearly ripped her to shreds, literally. She remembered her mother commenting on how she was not normal and she would never be normal and that no one in her condition could love or be loved. To Valerie, her siblings and father disapproved every lie that her mother had told her. That was probably what she loved about her siblings and father more than anything. The fact they loved her and accepted her just as she was, even though they all had their differences, they were still a family and Valerie was devoted to them all. She thought about the last ten years of her life and how they were the best of her life. One of the big reasons for Valerie deciding they were the best was sitting beside her on the couch, laughing and talking as she had dreamed about when she was younger.
Zmeyette mentioned that she might have to change up the game plan if she was getting too predictable "Oh Zemy, if there is one in Hogwarts that keeps everyone guessing its you. Seriously I think these professors have been too numbed by goody-two shoe Gryffindor, Ravenclaws, and Hufflepuffs, oh and Slytherins who really have no reason to be here." She said rolling her eyes. Valerie had no issue with other houses just that a good number of them lacked drive and ambition and simply lived to serve their professors and to make the grade only to go into a conforming job after school. "The school needs more Slytherins like you." She said smirking at Z. Val personally found her elder sister's antics somewhat entertaining and the reason for that was their random, sparseness.
Val listened to Z second her chocolate addiction and it made Val smirk. "You remember when I hated Firewhiskey to an indescribable extent? Well since I started drinking it but not getting out of control, well you have somewhat turned me into a fan of firewhiskey." She smiled, Val even from a young age detested firewhiskey due to her mum. Since she became of age and occasionally started drinking it with her family. She started to like it more and more but she refuses to ever lose control because her father had always told her that her mother's addiction made her father despise her mother. Fenrir warned her from day one that he would never let her do anything like that and he would lock her up if he needed to protect his daughter. She smiled because now she and Zmeyette were able to agree on one little thing compared to near nothing as the two were near complete opposites.
"No lie, the sorting hat, seriously was two seconds away from putting me in Ravenclaw." She laughed "but I saw you sitting at the Slytherin table I begged and it acknowledged my ambition and ta-da, you had a little sibling in Slytherin." She laughed. Valerie knew that she had retold that story a million and one times but she remembered that moment so clearly as one of the defining moments of her life. She thought about it. "Well I figured Seyton was already out, you were in Slytherin, Nathaniel was sorted into Hufflepuff right before me, and the younger ones were still at home but I figured our baby sister would have joined us here but guess not." Valerie shrugged honestly. She also figured at least one more of her brothers would end up in Slytherin but Slytherin was no longer a last name club like it was in her father's time. "I love Ancient Runes," Val said with a smile "I dunno I find the past very interesting, much like my love of History of magic." She smiled "I know I will not need the two of them in the future probably but I get top marks in them and the material is pretty self-explanatory so half the time I don't even show up for class." She smirked. Then Zmey said to send their papa a little love from her "I will be sure to but I am certain he would like to hear from his eldest daughter herself." She said cocking her head. Everyone knew Val was incredibly attached to her father as she wrote him, at times, daily but more often it was every other day. Generally she would include mentions of her siblings and their well-being but mainly she would tell him about her day.
She listened to Zmey talk about how her professors hated her. She had heard from people, once they figure out who she is comment on her sister, only to hex them into next year. To Valerie though, Zmeyette was her best friend in the world and nobody had the right to insult her family in her eyes as very few people at Hogwarts could relate to what the Greyback children go through every month and from day to day from people. "Yeah you would be surprised how easy some professors are to charm, not in that way of course but just overall. I have a good amount of the faculty wrapped around my finger." She remembered then what her father had said about Lord Voldemort so many years ago. He had told young Val that the reason the dark lord was able to rise to power was one, his ruthlessness and charming nature. She thought about it. She would never use her ambition or her charm to do anything like the Dark Lord but she found it admirable in herself that she possessed that characteristic. She then smiled at Zmey after she mentioned the fondness she received from male professors. She knew her sister was only kidding but Val smirked "Well a Greyback's gotta do what a Greyback's gotta do." She laughed reflecting that infamous ambition she was known for. "I think I belong here." She reaffirmed her position in Slytherin house that she and her sister were talking about earlier. She laughed gently.
"Silver, huh?" She said raising an eyebrow "That would be gorgeous on your olive skin, I think you should go for it." Valerie smiled. "Maybe I could do gold then or something, the point of the ball is to be a mystery and the green would give me away." She smiled. "I thought I heard something about our dates being mysteries but I figured that it was just a rumor." She smiled. "I hope I get someone good." She smiled "Someone you and papa would love but is smart and handsome." She swooned a bit. It was no secret that Valerie was incredibly boy crazy and frankly this sort of a ball where she could find love would be right up her alley.

It was hard for Zmeyette to really be close to anyone, she didn't like to deal with the messiness of relationships, whether romantic or not, there were always problems. Although Zmeyette had been very close with her parents, as well as Valerie, she had tried to stay away from people. She didn't want to connect with others, share their insights, all just to end up hurt. The only people in her life that she was close with was the three people stated earlier, the only family she considered she had. Her disliking for relationships grew larger when things with Jacob Warrington came crashing down. He was the only guy to ever get passed the huge wall she put up, the only guy she had ever really, dare she say, loved. But the two were so much alike they became toxic, even though it was exciting, it was also destructive. But the heart wants what it wants and Zmeyette only wanted Jacob. Of course this wouldn't stop her from screwing around with whoever she wanted, it just made her wall that much stronger.
Valerie was the only other person in this school to see past her wall, to get to know a completely different side to the girl. Zmeyette did not always act so happy and cheerful except when around her baby sister. Valerie had her heart as no other person did and she would murder anyone who ever hurt her. Zmeyette honestly didn't know what she would do without her in her life, she was glad the two were able to grow up together because Zmeyette needs a stable person in her life.
Zmeyette beamed at Valerie's comment. Of course Zmeyette was one of the most unpredictable people in this school, no one could out match her. "Exactly, all of those others are just carbon copies. Slytherins vary in a large amount but I think I do stand out the most." She said, a bit conceited about herself. "Dear sister what will you do once I leave this school at the end of the year?" She asked dramatically.
"Hey don't blame that all on me." She scolded Valerie even though it was her fault. "Okay, okay I guess I'll take the blame for it seeing is I did always ask you to drink with me." Zmeyette admitted before her sister gave her that sternly stare. Perhaps it wasn't the best thing for Zmeyette to do seeing as Valerie's mother was an alcoholic and those things run in the family. "But I can trust that you will not take it to the level that I do or else I'm going to have to punish you and let father know." Zmeyette warned.
Zmeyette remembered that moment clearly in her head. Seeing her baby sister, the only one she was ever close to, and praying that she got put into the same house. Zmeyette was tried of being a loner at that point, at least on the inside, so having her sister with her, to guide her, would be the best thing in the world. Zmeyette got her wish and she couldn't of been happier the moment the sorting hat had shouted Slytherin! "Well that dusty hat had every right to listen to the wishes of a Greyback girl, even at such a young age."
A yawn escaped Zmeyette's mouth. "Seriously Val, don't bore with such stories. I don't want to hear about history and ancient runes. I get enough about that rubbish in class...well minus the ancient runes part." Zmeyette said. "Doesn't mean you need to inform me about the runes either." She added hastily. She knew Valerie was the smarter one, at least book wise, Zmeyette handled her intelligence in a different light. She was cunning and could think quickly which would last her throughout her life and help her survive. "I'll write him a letter soon, mother okay." She said sarcastically.
Zmeyette smirked at Valerie slightly at what she said. "Exactly, it was how we were raised. We just go about things differently." She said.
"Silver it is then." Zmeyette agreed, nodding slightly. She could picture herself in a stunning silver dress, something no one would expect from her seeing as she favored the darker colors. "Gold would look amazing on you with you blonde hair and pale skin. But cute gold dresses are hard to come by so I guess we will have to take a whole day to go shopping." She said laughing slightly thinking of how much fun they would have trying on dresses. "Oh jeez Valerie get it together, you have no idea who you are going to be paired with, could be someone who isn't meant for you. Plus we don't live in a fairytale world." She added lightly shoving her sister.

Val smirked at Zmeyette. Most people did not know exactly what memory would conjure her patronus. What would the average witch or wizard think would conjure a Greyback's patronus? Val had heard everything from changing into her monstrous form, to her first kill, to learning of her father's allegiances in the previous war. Yet no one had ever guess her memory. Frankly put when she told her father what it was and no one else. Something about being with Z in the Slytherin common room just made her feel so good and oddly sentimental. "You know Zmey, the memory of our first day together is my patronus memory." She said suddenly, randomly. Val could tell the moon was getting closer because her thoughts were becoming more and more scrambled. Something that always made Val very mad as she always considered her intelligence and charming articulations as a virtue of hers.
With her sister sitting beside her, she felt protected. She always feared in the back of her mind that her mother would come back and take her away from her family, or worse as she knew about Val's more wild tendencies. She thought about she and her sister's relationship and how different they were. "Well Zmey, I will say time and time again we are exactly what Salazar Slytherin was looking for when he designed our house. Yet we are the exact opposite types of Slytherin." She smiled, it was true that Valerie was very proud of being in her father's house and her sister's house along with their baby brother. She knew her mother had been at Hogwarts for a year in her final year as the triwizard tournament had been hosted at Hogwarts and she wanted to be a champion. She also remember her mother saying after the first task they somehow got into the headmaster's office and tried on the sorting hat, and it told her if she was in Hogwarts she would have been in Gryffindor. Therefore Val was also very proud that she was in the exact opposite house as her mother.
"Next year?" Val questioned. Then it hit her. Zmeyette was graduating at the end of the year. "Well I was just thinking of graduating early with you." She said jokingly. "Seriously though, I might go insane in this madhouse. Dad will want me to keep tabs on Nathaniel, Faolen, and Lupa that is for sure and that will probably be the main duties of mine. Oh and Seyton since he never leaves." She joked. "What you have to do though is get a flat in Hogsmeade and I can crash there." She chuckled. Due to their being joined at the hip she was surprised that her friends and classmates had not questioned her before. "Although worse case scenario I keep a countdown until breaks and you make sure you are at Dad's whenever I am around." She laughed "Oh and I will write you just as often as I do dad." She warned.
When Zmeyette claimed innocence Valerie quirked an eyebrow. "Yeah I will blame you," She said playfully smirking at her sister. "It's not a bad thing." Valerie conceded. She then listened to Z scold her slightly. "Don't worry dad already threatened me." Val said with her hands up in surrender. "I think the one thing I inherited from my mother are her insanely good looks. I can see why Dad went after her even just for a night." She said sarcastically. Valerie, in her mind, had no attachment to her mother other than her maternal grandparents who saw her 5 times a year, and her looks. She had no idea where she got her heart though because dad was a killer and her mother had the cruelty in her to completely neglect and verbally abuse a child. However everything else was Fenrir.
The pair remembered the sorting of Valerie. "Well yeah, I mean I had just watched Nathaniel get into Hufflepuff and Faolen in Ravenclaw. The pressure was on." She laughed. She would not have minded following Faol into Ravenclaw but the pair of them were not nearly as close as Valerie and Zmeyette. She thought of what it must have been like with Zmeyette being the only Greyback child at Hogwarts. "I think in someways next year will be somewhat like what your first year was like." She smiled "Except I will have Faol, Nate, and Lupa with me." She smirked, "But its not the same with them not being in the same house." She said sadly just thinking of her nights with Zmeyette and hanging out before full moons like they were right now.
Then as the conversation turned to class work Valerie's cheeks turned a bit pink with her color rising. "Sorry to bore you Zmey." She laughed. She should have known better than to talk school with Z. "Yeah I will be happy to be done, but you only have like eight months of school left." Valerie laughed slightly. "I only have a year and eight months left but I am already ruling out professor as a career." She laughed. Frankly put Valerie spent enough time with her homework to correct it for the rest of her life. As Valerie pestered Zmey to write their father. "Yeah he would like to hear from you," She smirked. Valerie always was like a mother to her siblings as she was always the one that came between pointed wands and told her siblings to drop them.
"We were raised right." Valerie admitted, "I mean Dad had to make up time with me as the first five years of my life were not quite ideal." She laughed "But I think he did alright to land 3 out of his seven children in Slytherin. " She smiled.
Then the stuff Val loved to talk about, dresses, boys, and magical evenings. "I cannot wait to see you in Silver, appropriate for the Greyback girls to be in Silver and Gold." She smiled happily. "You will look so gorgeous." Valerie said with emphasis on the so. Then Valerie thought about a whole day shopping with Z. She had always dreamed of having a best friend when she was young and her mother never let her leave the apartment except once when she had pneumonia. "That sounds like so much fun!" She said happily, while squealing again. Then she received a bit of reprimanding from her sister about fairy tales. "I wish we did though," she said sadly "because in the muggle fairy tale Beauty and the Beast a woman falls in love with a monster. My mother read it to me once. When she read it though she ended it with no one ever loved the beast and he died alone and ugly." She said sadly "Then for a project I re-read it and I found out my mother lied to me." She smirked "Yeah it was a good day, but I know the world is not filled with fairy tales." She smiled "besides I have you , dad and six siblings I will never be alone. ever." Valerie added with a bit of joking irritation.
