I can’t believe they made me do this... he thought to himself, almost irritably. Normally Faolan loved a good party and goofing off with his friends with plenty of music and butterbeer, but this Masquerade Ball was an entirely different story. It wasn’t like the Halloween Feast, where you can mingle with your friends; it was more like a twisted blind date game where one would be paired with someone you didn’t know...and wouldn’t know until midnight. What would make it even more awkward was the fact he had to wear a costume to hide his face. He was thankful the required outfit was embarrassing and had at least ‘some’ dignity to it. Walking over to his trunk, he pulled out the signature piece of what he was going to wear..his mask. It was likely one of the most intricate things he had, with its red, black and gold coloring, with detailed bordering, and covering his left side of his face seemed to be music notes. In alot of ways it reminded him of Phantom of the Opera, so he couldn’t help but smirk when he gazed at himself in the mirror. Now the only other piece to his costume that remained was his matching, velvet cloak with a hood. It was mainly black on the outside, with a deep red for the lining underneath and a similar gold inlay that followed the edges of the cloak. Letting out a sigh and shaking his head, Faolan placed the hood over his head and silently headed down the Ravenclaw tower and several flight of steps before he entered the Great hall. Just as he entered the room, a number appeared on a piece of paper that he now gripped in his hand. Seeing his number was 45, he followed the rest to a chart not that far away. Muttering under his breath on why couldn’t they have made it easier, he found his table’s number and turned to look for it between the hustle and bustle of about a 100 other participants. Weaving his way through the small square tables that had replaced the 4 house tables, he found his right smack in the middle of the room. Trying his best to remain in character, Faolan gracefully took a seat and waited for whoever was meant to be his pair, passing the time by listening to the renaissance music that reverberated around the room. |

The school is giving a ball! The school is giving a ball! These were the words that echoed in the mind of Justin as he was preparing for the night. He had gotten back to his dorm very early to prepare himself very well. It wasn’t a secret or anything, but some people never seemed to notice that he was a cross dresser. Sure people could tell him apart from the girls who were really girls, but there were a select few that didn’t seem to notice. So those who knew him didn’t seem it was weird for him to be dressing up for the ball in a dress at all. In fact it seemed some people expected it and besides Justin thought dresses were a lot nicer than the tuxes and dress robes the men would wear. He was never much of a tux person as he always felt restricted and he hated the tight colors with a passion. No he would be dressing in a beautiful ball gown that he felt was perfect for him. It took a little while to find his stuff, but at the bottom of his trunk was his navy blue almost black dress folded neatly in the corner. He picked it up and laid it flat on his bed there had been a few wrinkles on it and this upset him a lot. He didn’t know a spell that would cause them to go away so he did it by hand trying to cress out the wrinkles to the best of his ability. When he finished it looked……better? It would have to do though so he got undressed taking off his shirt and shorts. He then slipped his legs into the dress and brought it up to his body. The way it hung on his body seemed to suit him he had the perfect body for this. He looked in the mirror next to his bed to see how he looked so far with just the dress on and he had to say he looked exquisite. He admired his reflection for a bit before returning to the rest of his attire. He picked up his shoes and gracefully put them on his feet which for a guy not only looked a female’s foot, but were smaller than average guy’s feet. He had worn heels before so walking in them wasn’t a problem, but he couldn’t help a feel a bit uncomfortable in these heels. There were something about them that didn’t suit his feet, but he didn’t have time to worry about this he still need to finish his look and fix a few parts about his face before leaving. He walked over to his trunk again and pulled out three tiny boxes. The second biggest of them contained his black lace glove he would be wearing for the ball to add an interesting effect to his attire. The smallest contained his earrings he would be wearing while the largest contained his mask for the ball. Justin smiled as he looked at the mask for a second thinking about how pretty and interesting it looked to him. He then put the mask down on his bed before turning to his make-up kit. He wasn’t going to go full out powder, rouge, blush, lipstick, base, shadow, mascara, and the rest of his kit. No tonight he was going to make it simple. He put on a light base making sure to leave no part of his face untouched by the base. He then put some black eye liner above his eyes and then applied some light mascara. Then he lightly tapped some blush on, gently plucked his eyebrows to a thinner size, and applied his lipstick before sealing the make-up to his face so it wouldn’t sweat off as easily. He knew there would be dancing now if he got to dance with his assigned partner he didn’t know, but it was good to be prepared. Once done he looked at his mirror again to make sure he did an adequate job before putting on his earrings and gloves. His attire was complete and he felt it was a nice look for the ball. Sure he couldn’t afford some of the fancy stuff some of the other students could buy, but for what he could afford he felt it was enough. He then picked up his mask and placed it on his face. The make-up was luckily not covered up completely because of the gaps in the mask, but he couldn’t help and feel he might not have had to put on make-up with this mask. Oh well he would just have to deal with it so he left his dorm to head for the great hall. When he finally reached the great hall he was handed a piece of parchment with the number sixty-six on it. He knew they were planning something like this, but he wasn’t sure how they were going to go about it. He looked at his parchment a bit before spotting what looked like a chart pointing out what table their number was associated with. Justin quickly found his number which was also put on the same table as the number forty-five. He had no clue who this was of course, but he couldn’t help and wonder if maybe he knew this person. It would certainly be fun if he got seated with a friend of his and they talked about things they commonly had, but he knew this was to help get people to meet and greet other people so he would probably get paired up with someone from Slytherin knowing his luck. He looked at the table number sixteen and memorized it before walking off to find his table. He found his way to the middle of the great hall and saw someone sitting alone at a table. Of course he didn’t know this person because well they were wearing a mask. Justin being polite looked at the man with a gentle look and did a nice graceful curtsy. He then sat himself down in the chair facing his table mate and looked at him for a few seconds. Even though he was behind a mask he couldn’t and think he was very handsome. He wondered why he never saw him before maybe they just had completely different schedules and they just never saw each other because of it. Justin didn’t know who was going to make the first move into conversation, but he wanted to know this handsome man so he said with a slight sweet voice, “Hello. It is a pleasure to be paired up with such a handsome man.”
