Gavin loved this weather. Even when attending Hogwarts, this time of year was his favorite to be outside. The springtime made his allergies go haywire, and it was too muggy in the summer, but autumn was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. Stretching his arms up above his tall frame, he yawned slightly, taking in the scenery around him. That was why he loved Hogwarts. The scenery here was just breathtaking, and he felt he was in a whole other world.
He paused as he approached the lake, looking up at the castle. He smiled, reminiscing on his years there. It didn't seem so long ago actually. Hard to believe it had been four years since he had been a student. But now he was actually working here, and was quite happy with it, as he had always considered Hogwarts a home away from home.
Gavin stretched once more, turning back to the lake and taking a seat in the grass, staring out over the water, the surface disturbed every now and then by insects and the distinct ripple of the Giant's Squid's tentacles.
He let out a soft sigh, letting his head loll back, face towards the sky. He took a few calming breaths, and opened his eyes again. His blue eyes widened slightly as he saw a figure coming down towards the lake. He had thought he was all alone, but then again, this was Hogwarts. The place was never empty.
Gavin rubbed his eyes, trying to readjust his contacts, and stood once again, stretching his sore arms and extending his full six-foot-two-and-a-half frame to maximum height before settling back down onto his heels. He put that ever so common smile on his face, ready to greet whoever it was that was parading down to the lake.

jason was bored. no wait, scratch that... doubly bored. and irritated. and tired. it was a sunday, and jason was nutorius for enjoying his sunday morning by...sleeping through the entirety of it. he would get up eventually in time for lunch ... but otherwise, he liked that sleep in... he despised early mornings with a passion.
so you can imagine his annoyance when the other guys in his dorm decided to be annoyingly loud, crashing about, laughing over something and then eventually hitting jason with a stray water ballooon..all before noon. see now, jason didn't mind pranks - he was all for them when he was in the mood for a laugh - but he did not apprechiate a face full of cold water and broken balloon whilst trying to sleep.
so after sitting up, glaring at the until they ceased laughing and shrank away from him a little, jason had grabbed his clothes, changed and slammed the door on the way out. without a word. he'd get them back later. jason didn't actually mind the guys in his dorm, they were alright guys but they were sure as hell irritating at times. but at least they never bugged him about the being gay thing. not that he acted like one of those stereotypical ' must act like a girl because i like guys' kind of gay, but he had always made a point that people knew it, he wasn't going to hide it.
but still, he was tired and irritable...and so he'd figured he'd head to the grounds for some air - and possibly to cool down. the only thing with jase was that he was a bit of a hot head at times, and sometimes he did let things get to him when maybe they shouldn't. letting out a sigh, jason ran his hands through his hair and stretched slightly as he walked, loosening the developed muscles of his five foot eleven frame and heading on down to the lake with a yawn.
it took a little while to register the other person out by the lake, and by then they were within speaking distance. well jason wasn't excatly a social person in the morning but he figured why not be social for a change. with a second yawn - which this time he bothered to cover lazily with a hand as he stopped a few paces away from the other guy - whom he vaugely recognised as someone he'd seen around hogwarts whilst jason was in his first year. the guy didn't seem to have changed much, but jason remembered the feeling of awe he'd felt when looking up at the guy in the corridors. even now the other guy was still several inches taller. jason offered a respecting nod and a small smile. "hey," he said, confronting the quiet with the simple word, his voice a little of thick side from sleep as it was the first thing he'd spoken all morning.

Gavin watched with slight amusement as the boy covered his mouth to stifle his yawn. Apparently someone hadn't woken up yet. Gavin's lips quirked into a soft smile. "Morning." he replied to the boy's greeting.
"You seem familiar, have we met before?" Gavin asked, curious, as he studied the boy. The face seemed vaguely recognizable. He just couldn't put a finger on it. Was the boy one of his sister's friends? Or perhaps his brother's...?
Gavin shook the thoughts, awaiting the boy's response, and his gaze resumed looking out over the lake, hoping the gray mass of clouds overhead would subside for some sunshine today. He wasn't exactly looking forward to trekking through the Forbidden Forest if it was raining.

"Morning." jason glanced at the older guy and nodded slightly to show he caught the return greeting, but offered nothing else for the moment. he didn't really know what to say if he was honest. "You seem familiar, have we met before?" jason's eyes flickered from the water to the boy .. well man really... to his left and nodded slightly.
"yeah...when i came here, you were in your last year." he explained, glancing at the guy and noticing his gaze had drifted to the water. "jason train." he said, introducing himself with his usual confidence and offering his right hand for the guy to shake. he didn't know if the guy would remember his name or anything, but there was no point standing there quiet.
he gazed at the water for a moment, looking out across the lake with faint disinterest. he liked open spaces, the idea of freedom, but right now he wasn't much interested in the surroundings. for some reason he was more curious about the guy than the scenery, and he glanced at him, turning to face him slightly as he waited for his answer on what jason had just said.

"yeah...when i came here, you were in your last year." So that's where he had seen the boy's face before. It all made sense now. "jason train."
Gavin's eyes flicked down to the boy's hand and smiled, taking Jason's hand and shaking it. "Nice to meet you. Gavin Evans." He dropped his hands, stuffing it back into his pocket.
"You're in.... Slytherin, right?" He asked, taking a guess. He was trying hard to remember back to his last year, seeing the young boy in house colors. "I was in Gryffindor, but no prejudice here." He laughed slightly, fading, feeling a tad awkward. His hand left his pocket, rubbing his neck out of nervous habit.
What's wrong with me? This kid's a lot younger than me, and here I am, at a loss for words. I'm such an idiot...

"Nice to meet you. Gavin Evans." jason nodded, shaking his hand and then taking his back and almost copying gavin in the way that he always put his hands within his jeans pockets, jamming his hands into them and glancing at him. he wasn't wearing his robes seeing as it was a lazy sunday morning - instead he'd taken to throwing on a pair of comfy jeans, and a favoured hoodie of his. "nice to meet you too." he said lightly, giving him a nod, glad to have a name to the handsome face.
he almost balked as he thought that. he hadn't meant for that to slip into his mind. sure, he couldn't help noticing the guy was good looking, but he didn't really know him.. besides, he certainly wasn't going to say anything. he didn't hide his sexuality, but that didn't mean he went out complimenting every good looking guy - he made sure the other was always of the same sexuality before he even went there. "You're in.... Slytherin, right?" jason glanced at gavin and nodded. "yeah... you were in gryffindor?" he half asked, sure he could remember the gryffindor emblem on the older guys robes years back...then again he could have gotten it wrong - he wasn't that observant in fairness.
"I was in Gryffindor, but no prejudice here." ah that confirmed it, jason grinned slightly and laughed lightly along with him. "well i'm glad.. house rivalry doesn't half get tedius." he said, noting the way the guy nervously rubbed the back of his neck and shifting on the spot, not sure how to steer the conversation into somewhere more comfortable for the guy. "so uhh ... do you work here now?" he asked, genuinely curious and he turned his head to peer at gavin.

"well i'm glad.. house rivalry doesn't half get tedius." Good, he didn't hold anything in that, not that it would really matter anymore...
"so uhh ... do you work here now?"
He smiled softly, turning to look at the attractive face. Woah, wait, what? Sure, he liked men, but then again, he liked women as well... Did he really just think a student; one who was around his siblings' age was attractive?
He cleared his throat, hoping Jason didn't notice his pause and tension in his forehead. "Yeah, I work here. I've actually been working here since I graduated. Groundskeeper. I was pretty average in my studies and didn't really want to go home, so I stuck around. This place is pretty much my home now anyway."
He beamed at Jason, his eyes memorizing the boy's face. For what reason, he wasn't sure, but he sure didn't mind looking. There it was again. Every cell in Gavin's brain told him it was wrong, but yet... that little voice in the back of his head bickered with him to just go with the flow.

jason's gaze flickered back to gavin, mostly on him now anyway rather than the lake..it had to said he was much better to look at. jason wasn't even go and try to supress his thoughts, gavin didn't know he'd complimented him, no harm could come of thinking the guy was attractive seeing as he wasn't saying it.
"Yeah, I work here. I've actually been working here since I graduated. Groundskeeper. I was pretty average in my studies and didn't really want to go home, so I stuck around. This place is pretty much my home now anyway." jason nodded. it summed it up pretty well - hogwarts was home. jason knew how he felt, he didn't enjoy going home, not anymore - there was no brother to talk to at home, not now. justin was here or justin was with the other parent. home wasn't as appealing to jason with nobody to really talk to or anything. study wise he was hardly a genius.. he tried, but sometimes he was far too lazy.
"that's cool .. that you got to stay here and work. " he added quickly, hoping gavin didn't think he meant it was cool he didn't want to go home or whatnot. he noticed the older guy tracing his features and he grinned lightly, words springing to his lips that he wanted to say don't say it don't say it don't say it "like what you see?" damn it! where was the control over his mouth when he needed it!!? but really he didn't mind, the guy could look at him all he wanted...

"that's cool .. that you got to stay here and work. "
Gavin nodded. "Anything was better than going home at the time. Even though- Well, my siblings are here now..." he trailed off, not really wanting to get into detail with his past so soon with Jason.
"like what you see?" Gavin spluttered for a moment, slightly flustered. Did he just say that? Gavin stammered, not exactly sure what to say.
"Erm, y- a tad, yes... But no at the same time... Not that you aren't attractive or anything, it's just..." Gavin stumbled over his words, extremely flustered. He hadn't been this taken aback or nervous since, well, never. It was usually the other way around when he talked to people he liked. It was quite odd to have the roles switched for once, especially with the age difference between the two.
Gavin chewed at his lip, his hand rubbing his neck again, out of nervous habit for the second time. Every now and then his eyes would dart back to the attractive face in front of him, waiting for a reply.

"Anything was better than going home at the time. Even though- Well, my siblings are here now..." jason glanced at gavin and nodded slightly. "yeah i understand.." he said, talking both about the 'not wanting to go home-ness' and also how he obviously didn't wish to get into it.. which was fair enough, these things were private and the two had not really spoken before now other than a 'hello' once he thought..several years ago.
after blurting out that question, jason had to watch gavin splutter, biting his lip and wishing he had a tap to his mouth - that way he'd have been able to shut the words off before they'd come speeding out like a torrent. oh well, no way to take them back. "Erm, y- a tad, yes... But no at the same time.. Not that you aren't attractive or anything, it's just..." he raised his eyebrows slightly. well that settled that smal question .. gavin was not straight. if he was, he'd have been throwing glares and all sorts of insults his way for suggesting it...not calling him 'attractive' - to which jason couldn't help but blush a little. he gaze at gavin, seemingly rather confident. oddly, for a fourth year, he could be rather forward and all. he didn't mean to be.. but sometimes it was best if you just put out there what you wanted to say or how you wanted to present yourself rather than be all flustered. "..because i'm younger than you? i'm fifteen." jason said casually with a shrug, wondering where this confidence was coming from .. he did feel a little flustered himself.
he gazed at gavin lightly, awaiting his response as he saw the older guy rub the back of his neck nervously. he hadn't meant to make him nervous or uncomfortable. "sorry." jason shot him a quick appology, feeling contrite. after all they didn't really know each other and here he was displaying some signs of liking toward the attractive fellow. sure he could be abrupt and all but still ... he hadn't meant to.. upset..him or anything.

"..because i'm younger than you? i'm fifteen."
"N-No, well... yeah, kind of. My siblings are sixteen. It's a little odd. Plus... even though I'm not a teacher... staff liking a student... It'd be looked down upon..." Wow, where did this rational Gavin come from? He was a more spur of the moment kind of guy. Though, if this mutual attraction built into something.. it could have some consequences.
"sorry." Gavin's eyes met Jason with fierce intensity. "Don't apologize. It just caught me off guard. Never apologize for speaking your mind. Especially if we have the same feelings... Gavin faded slightly on that last sentence.
What was with this kid, making him all jittery?
"There's no denying you're attractive, but, if this built into anything, just the consequences of our actions may not be the best. That's all.
Gavin held his gaze on Jason, awaiting his response.

"N-No, well... yeah, kind of. My siblings are sixteen. It's a little odd. Plus... even though I'm not a teacher... staff liking a student... It'd be looked down upon..." jason's gaze shot straight to gavin, slightly surprised. "you like me?" he picked out of the words the older boy had spoken sure that he'd rather jason had picked the other words to focus on but still. yes, jason knew that anything coming of this would most likely need to be hiden but he wasn't focusing on that. he'd been looked down on for a lot of his life by some people.
"Don't apologize. It just caught me off guard. Never apologize for speaking your mind. Especially if we have the same feelings..." jason shifted on the spot, nodding slightly. well he'd more been appologising for making the guy ... what? nervous? uncomfortable? whatever it was, he hadn't really been applogising for what he'd said he supposed. but that didn't really matter.
"There's no denying you're attractive, but, if this built into anything, just the consequences of our actions may not be the best. That's all." he could feel gavin looking at him and so he looked right back, shaking his head slightly. "you're saying it could build to something?" he asked, eyebrows arched slightly, a genuinely curious look to his gaze. well this was a change of events, wasn't it? perhaps he should be glad he was woken earler than usual...he might not have gotten to have this meet with gavin, and he sure was glad that he had. there was hardly any denial that he was fast becoming attracted to the guy, even with gavin's warnings.

"you like me?"
Gavin nodded.
"you're saying it could build to something?"
"Possibly... I don't know...." Gavin scratched his head. "What do you think? Well.. I mean... we kind of don't really know each other that well...
Gavin sighed, letting his gaze meet the ground again, finding something extremely interesting in the grass to avoid looking at Jason. This didn't seem a smart approach, but Gavin couldn't stop it now. The ball had begun rolling, and everyone knew you couldn't stop it once it stopped. Gavin just had to relax and go with it.

he watched him nod, eyebrows raised in surprise. "oh.." he said quietly, looking at the guy. "i like you too.." he admitted, surprised by himself there and biting his lower lip, a little hesitant - after all, they didn't really know each other, they'd only just met. but sometimes the feeling of attraction toward someone could be shockingly strong, jason had experienced it just a couple of times before.
"Possibly... I don't know...." jason looked at him, nodding slightly as the older guy considered it. for some reason this didn't feel like the sort of thing jason wanted to mull over and plan, where was spontenaety? well obvious that impulsion had gotten them to this but still... "What do you think? Well.. I mean... we kind of don't really know each other that well..."
jason exhaled slightly and looked at him, running a hand through his thick locks and touselling them. he hadn't bothered to brush his hair this morning - not that he usually did anyway - leaving it at its usual bed-headed style and only mussing it further as he ran his hand through it. "i don't know... i think maybe we shoooould see where it goes?" he grinned lightly, looking at gavin lightly with his usual confident demeaner, wondering what he'd say... because it was true, they didn't know each other. but they could get to know each other...

"See where it goes? Yeah, that sounds good with me."
Gavin took a seat on the grass, not really caring if it messed up his clothes. He looked up at Jason. "Sit?" He sighed softly, stretching his long legs out in front of him, a slight wind bouncing his messy hair around.
"So... uhm... tell me about yourself... Besides the fact you're in Slytherin and a fifth year." Gavin wasn't really sure what to ask. "Like, what are you into?"
He chuckled softly. "To be honest, I don't know where to take this conversation. I'm sorry if I'm boring you, but I feel like we should get to know each other, ya know?"

"See where it goes? Yeah, that sounds good with me." jason grinned lightly and nodded, glad he seemed to think it'd be best that way too. when gavin sat, and asked him to sit too, jason smiled lightly and nodded, shifting to sit down beside him on the grass, stretching out his legs too before indulging by laying back against the grass, linking his hands and resting them behind his head, gazing up at the sky.
"So... uhm... tell me about yourself... Besides the fact you're in Slytherin and a fifth year." jason turned his head, rolling it to look at him from his lower position. "fourth year." he said lightly, correcting him in passing but not really bothered. he often got mistaken for a fifth year - sometimes even a sixth year. he looked older than he was, not that he minded - he would hate to look younger than he was. "Like, what are you into?"
"uhm well .. i quite like quidditch but my real passion is kinda music... and i paint a bit." he shrugged lightly. he never really told many about the painting - it felt kind of private, something he did to de-stress and all that, but for some reason he didn't mind telling gavin. he gazed at the guy lightly as he chuckled. "To be honest, I don't know where to take this conversation. I'm sorry if I'm boring you, but I feel like we should get to know each other, ya know?" jason grinned and shrugged lightly. "it's fine, i'm not bored. " he rolled his eyes and smiled. "yeah getting to know each other sounds cool ... so what about you? what are your passions and all?" he asked lightly, genuinely curious.

"uhm well .. i quite like quidditch but my real passion is kinda music... and i paint a bit."
He raised an eyebrow. Hmm, interesting. It's not everyday Gavin met someone who painted. And Jason was a fourth year? He didn't look it. At all. "That's cool. Me? Quidditch as well. It was one of the wizarding sports I grew to love. I swim a lot too. I love being outdoors, so that's a perk of this job. Gavin smiled a little. "And there's still some Muggle sports I'm into, football for one, and I played rugby a little, but wasn't as into it as I thought I'd be. Uhm, I love Pumpkin Pasties. And Every Flavor Beans." Gavin grinned.
He laid back onto the grass so Jason and he were level, even if he was a few inches above him. "And I like green eyes." he winked, flashing a smile at Jason.

jason nodded. "ah who doesn't love bertie botts every flavor beans?" jason grinned lightly. "except the gross one's.. spinnach.. liver... who was idiot enough to make them?" he rolled his eyes lightly and smiled, gaze capturing his movement as gavin shifted to lay beside him. jason turned his head now to look at him, ignoring the picturesque setting of the sky above now as he focused on the handsome guy beside him.
"And I like green eyes." jason grinned, catching the wink and immediatly responding with a slightly flirtatious edge to his grin, his olive eyes twinkling. "oh really? " his tone slightly throaty - low - as he couldn't help but shift a little close to the guy, one eyebrow slightly raised.
