people change and promises are broken
clouds can move and skies will be wide open
[/color]layton.Aspen got out of class merely moments ago. Her last class was potions, and that was not a very successful class period. First off, she dropped her potions kit, causing most of her ingredients to fall onto the ground... and then, instead of someone coming to help her pick it all up, some random Slytherin just "accidentally" stepped over it. Rude... but again, quite typical of Slytherins. Aspen tried her best to just ignore the Slytherin crowd. Then, having nothing to work with for the class, she had to borrow a spare potions making kit from the professor until she can get a new one. It wasn't that big of a deal really... until halfway through the potion making process Aspen found out she had skipped a few steps, which were written clearly on the board. She was very annoyed with herself... in the end, most others' potions had turned out to be the dark blue color described in the textbook, but hers.... well, it turned out to be red. It was very obvious that she had not done well with reading the instructions, and even more obvious that she will not have a good grade for this class period. Most of the time, potions class was like this. Aspen is not one to read the instructions carefully, and sometimes she's clumsy as to knock over somebody else's cauldron or even her own. As of right now she isn't failing potions, but rather getting away with an 'Acceptable'.
Having just been through a particularly horrible class period, Aspen made her way outside, instead of going back to the Gryffindor towers and putting her things away and getting ready for dinner. She decided that she needed to go outside and just take a break from all the stress from potions class and stop thinking about raising the 'Acceptable' to an 'Exceeds Expectations' at another time. In truth Aspen was passing potions by only a little bit. Over the years, Potions has never been her strength, and it's not about to start now... Sure, Aspen works hard, but it never seems to matter, because in the end, she's going to mess up on the actual potion, no matter how well she grasps the concept and the background information of the potion.
She lay down on the grass and looked up at the sky. Imagining what the clouds look like seemed to be something that a little girl would do, but looking at the white puffy clouds Aspen started doing so anyways. There was one that looked a little bit like a dragon, and beside it there was a car. Then further away there was one that looked a little like a fish. Of course it was more fun if you had a friend around to tell what you saw, but Aspen didn't mind at this moment. She needed the peace and quiet. She then closed her eyes and took in the chilly autumn air, as well as the setting sun. Yes, all the others would be going off to the great hall now for dinner... but not Aspen. She's going to stay out here longer. And somehow, within those thoughts, Aspen fell asleep, the potions dilemma all forgotten.
