taylor took a sip of water, watching the last of her OWL class dissapear. phew. the first class was over, and it hadn't gone to bad if she was honest. but she bearly had time to take five minutes, checking the time and noting her NEWTs should be arriving any moment now. with a flick of her wand, taylor sent the desks and chairs speeding across the room from their resting place against the edges of the room, to land in formation back in the neat rows as normal.
with a second flick of her wand, taylor watched some empty, plain goblets speed across to join the desks - one water goblet to each desk. she'd be needing them for the lesson today, having planned on teaching her NEWT students aguamenti - a useful charm that produces a jet of water. the students would be able to use the goblets as a target to fill with water - rather than jetting water all over the place... which was liable to happen anyway but still.
once evrything was in place, taylor took a deep breath and looked toward the blackboard, using her wand to siphon off the words from last lesson and write welcome to charms class, i am proffessor paxton, and wait for the students to arrive.

bored of breakfast already, theia pushed aside the people who'd crowded to sit on either side of her and made to stand. immediatly her sidekicks all made to stand too, stupid lackeys, but theia frowned and waved them off. she didn't want them to hover by her as she headed to charms. she wanted some time away from their sensless babble and all that idiocy. flicking her long curled locks over her shoulder, theia donned her expensive handbag and strode down the great hall toward the doors, chin held high, exuberating confidence and status as always. she dropped the act a little once she'd gotten through the crowds, disdainfully shoving a few first years aside as they trampled under her feet, but soon she was wandering along the third floor corridor by herself - just as she wanted it right now. she entered the charms classroom, noted the new proffessor at the front, and immediatly slipped into the center middle seat, rght in the focus of course - as always. theia glanced once at the board, then at her bag and brought out the things she needed, not the least caring if she was the first one there or whatever. pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

exiting the common room, lyra knew she was late. when she'd woken, the other seventh year girls had long gone, and as lyra had yanked on her robes, whipped a brush through her hair and applied make-up faster than you could say 'going to be late'. she'd dashed down the dormitary steps and scanned the common room in vauge hope that perhaps bradley or louis or will might be still waiting around to walk with. but all three were obviously long gone - as was everyone else - to breakfast and probably class too. lyra wouldn't be getting breakfast today. with a sigh, she ran a hand through her touselled hair and rushed up to the third floor, hurrying along the empty corridors with the thought that she really was severely late, and she was about to get her first charms detention this year...well obviously it ws her first charms lesson anyway but still. she didn't want to deal with detention this morning - she was still half asleep. but as she entered the room she had to hold back a groan. she wasn't late - she was bloody early! just one other person within the room.a.. slytherin girl ew, who lyra quickly avoided as she stepped into the room quietly, easily catching her breath and slipping into a seat in the back row - keen to slink down in her seat and curse herself for not bothering to actually check the time! she probably would've had time for breakfast too. now she'd have to sit and suffer with her stomach grumbling far too audiable. lyra sighed. damn it. pic credit; carpe diem @ caution

Vincent made it to class. What else would you really want from him? Actually, he liked class and was usually a good student. He was just in a bad mood. There was something about being told his article was too off the wall that just made him want to sit back and pout. So that was what he was doing. In class. Maybe he'd get lucky and the professor wouldn't really care. He could suffer through any sort of class and then go be angry after. This was his plan and he was going to stick to it.
There were a few people in the classroom already. So he just picked a random seat and sat down. This was pretty good. He could learn by just sitting wherever he wanted to. That was one good thing about Hogwarts. No assigned seats. That would drive him crazy. If he felt like moving seats, he just might. But at the current time, he didn't have to sit near a bunch of people. He could sit by an empty seat if he wanted to do. In fact, that was he going to go ahead and do that now. It was making his life a whole lot easier.
Should he say or do anything? He pulled a quill and some parchment out of his bag and realized he didn't need to say anything. It wasn't like the professor had said anything, so why should he? He was just going to be silent and look at the professor. She was going to teach him and he was going to learn. Oh goody. There was nothing more then he wanted to do other then just sit there and stare at a professor. Really.

So it was the first day of classes and Nathaniel wasn't really sure what he was suppose to do. He had to get to class, but that was hard when some random first year kept getting lost. First years calling out his name was annoying. It was getting to the point where he wasn't sure where he was going. He just showed the students from this place to another one. Eventually he was going to get late to class. He couldn't be late to class on the first day.
Sprinting away from a group of first years, he made his way to the classroom. So he wasn't the last person showing up. That was pretty great. He could go ahead and talk to everyone. Well, he wasn't really sure who all was there. It was no one he was really close to. It was a shame he didn't have someone to really talk to in class, but at least he wasn't the first person in the room. He also wasn't the last person. So that was a good balance. There wasn't really a whole lot he could ask for.
Spotting an open desk in the front, he took it. He could do this. He was actually kind of excited to learn about whatever was coming up. It was nice to get to sit up front. It was rather relaxing. Besides, he wouldn't have to worry about sleeping or anything. He stayed awake easily. Even though he was tired from patrols and all of that. Leaning back in his seat, he was trying to think of if he could get some sleep before she started talking. His chances of pulling that off wasn't good. Blinking a few times, he yawned. He could stay awake for class. Really, he could.

she walked with a sort of grace that was unknown to her parents. she giggles softly as she ran her hand down the corridor wall, and slowly turned to look into the class room. charms. she liked the class, she did, it just was not one of her favorites. her old brown book-bag was resting on her shoulder and her gryffindor red tie was tied tightly around her forehead, making her blond hair bouncer, and more tamed. her blue eyes ran over the class to find someone she knew. she smirked. she spotted fellow sixth year, vincent aaron not to far off, and skip over, her one red and one gold sock touching the floor in a rat-tat-tat, rhyme.
landing ungracefully in her chair she turned her blue eyes to vincent and smiled. her eyes were shinning as she placed her book bag on the ground and took out a piece of parchment and a quill along with her favorite red ink. she placed it all on the table and looked at the blackboard, smiling brightly. the teacher. smiling at the aura around the teacher, and turning to vincent, looking slightly worried.
"vincent, are you alright?" she asked, her voice below a whisper. whispering was so exciting, and right now, staring at her hand she giggled at the yellow color standing out brightly against her pale skin. she liked charms, and she couldn't wait to learn some new spells. maybe they could be useful in the woods behind her house. brushing her hair from her eyes, she smiled. clementina unity watson, was strange indeed.

For once Rose hadn't had any trouble sleeping and had gotten her previous assignments done in enough time to go to sleep at a decent hour. So it was no suprise to her when she woke up in enough time to actually get some breakfast. Dressing into her gryffindor robes quickly she tied her long red hair back. It was messy but at least it would be out of her way. Picking up her schoolbag she went down to the common room hoping Aubrey would still be around. Or even that brother of hers. Neither one was so she headed down to the great hall all by herself.
Although she had been up early she didn't take her time eating breakfast. She wanted to eat as quickly as possible and then head to Charms class. Finishing her bacon she grabbed a piece of toast and she was off. She could eat the toast on her way. There was no way she wanted to be late and lose house points for her house already. Or worse get a detention. Reaching the charms classroom she entered to find that the room wasn't very full yet. That meant she wasn't late. Or close to it yet. Sliding into the seat next to Lyra she smiled.
"Morning Lyra" Digging into her bag she pulled out a quill and some loose parchment. Might as well be ready before the professor was ready to start. Maybe she wouldn't have to take notes this time. Rose waited quietly for the class to start.

as seats began to fill now that students were quietly filing, proffessor paxton checked the time and figured she may as well get a start on the lesson. she was sure a couple of students would duck in late but.. as it was morning she figured she'd let them off. though head of slytherin house, taylor wasn't all that terrible - she was quite lienient and actually quite nice... so long as you didn't try to cross the line. she was still a proffessor, and she did not apprechiate people attemtping to walk all over her - students or adults alike.
taylor watched the class settle and then stepped forward to draw the attention to her, therefore announcing she was about to speak. "welcome class, to your first lesson of charms this year. as n.e.w.t students, a higher standard will be expected of you than in your o.w.l... but as you all chose to attend charms, i'm sure you're all willing to put the work in..." taylor raised her delicate eyebrows and gazed at them all, speaking seriously. she did have high expectations... but they weren't unrealistic of course.
"so today... we're going to learn aguamenti. can anyone tell me what the purpose of the spell is?" she asked, looking at them expectantly to see if anyone was willing to offer the answer.

Post by shailene on May 6, 2011 17:45:41 GMT -6
Shailene had risen ten minutes off her normal schedule which caused her to throw back her covers in a haste. Dressing herself quickly in her normal attire of her hufflepuff uniform, she spent a few minutes finger combing her hair. Luckily Shailene had smooth, tamable hair that pretty much did whatever she needed it to do. Grabbing her book bag off the floor, which she had packed the night before with the proper books that she needed for today, Shailene rushed out the room and down many flights of stairs hoping she could get some breakfast in her. Shailene was risking being late for a bit of food but she knew herself well and if she didn't get any food she would be grumpy during class.
As she flew down the stairs praying she wouldn't trip, she mumbled curses at herself for staying up too late even though it was for a good reason. Shailene always tried to brush up on her classes before she attended them. She always wanted to be prepared, hopefully it had paid off. After grabbing a couple slices of toast and a sausage Shailene walked quickly back up three sets of stairs to get to her Charms class. Pausing just outside the door to catch her breath and stash her two pieces of toast in the front pocket of her bag she could hear the professor addressing her class. The voice was unfamiliar but Shailene knew she was late since the professor was explaining to the class what was expected of them this year and surely tardiness was not.
Shailene said a silent prayer to herself hoping that maybe this professor would be kind enough to let her slide. It wasn't as if this was normal behavior for Shailene but the new professor wouldn't know that, would she? As she adjusted the strap on her shoulder, Shailene ducked her head a bit and shuffled to the front of the class, just because she was late didn't mean she couldn't have a good seat. As she sat down the professor asked the class if they knew what the spell aguamenti was. As Shailene pulled out her supplies for the class and placed them on the table she thought hard. She could of swore she read over that one last night in bed just before going to sleep.
Shailene's hand popped up as she remembered what the spell was. "Aguamenti is a charm that produces a jet of water from the tip of one's one." Shailene stated proudly, hoping that maybe this would make up for her tardiness. Shailene really didn't want to leave a bad impression with her new charms professor.
