 jez hummed lightly as she headed along the fourth floor quietly, several books clutched to her chest as she meandered along at her own pace. she was in no hurry, and she was still half thinking about her date with hugo last evening. she couldn't help the small smile still pulling her lips upwards, and she couldn't help the happier-than-usual air about her today. people were just going to have to deal with it.
as she reached the library door she paused and shifted the books in her grasp to one arm so that she could push the door open and enter. stepping into the room she glanced about and realised it was pretty much darn empty. well that was good and bad - good that she could pretty much take whichever seat she wanted, but bad because there wasn't anyone to revise with. guess she'd be revising alone today.
with a small sigh jez picked a table in the corner and put her books down with a small thump, spreading them out and dropping her bag onto the floor. she opened her charms book where she'd last left it and attempted to revise. attempted being the key word. she'd already revised quite a lot this week and today felt too much of a drag. soon, she found herself resting her head in her hand and gazing out the window, half bored and half thinking about the other day.

He felt lucky today as if he had drunk a vial of Felix Felics. It wasn’t the studying part he felt lucky with, oh no, it was to do with a girl, an ex of his. Jessamine Connors to be exact. He hadn’t gotten over her, in fact he honestly didn’t think he would ever get over her. Everyone remembered their first loves and she was his. He had been trying to wrap his mind around the reason why they split but figured that was all in the past, today he was going to start afresh.
So where was his fellow Ravenclaw, he wondered as he bounced down the stairs and into the common room. Nope she wasn’t there, damn, he thought. It meant he had to do a search mission. Not bothering to ask anyone in the common room, knowing he wouldn’t get an answer and even a few grunt of annoyance he made his way out of the common room and down the flight of stairs, having to stop once as he watched the staircase he had been about to step on change.
He made his way down to the grounds and searched. Still she wasn’t to be found. So where was a fifth year Ravenclaw, he wondered. The only place he hadn’t checked of course. Sighing he made his way back up to the fourth floor and entered the library. At first he noticed that the library was nearly empty, something that he believed he wouldn’t see. Secondly, he noticed the familiar head of hair sitting in the corner. A smile was plastered on his face as he made his way over to her.
"Hey Jez," he spoke a little too loudly, the noise echoing in the library earning him a shush and a stern look from the librarian. He smiled sheepishly at her before turning back to Jez.

she was so focused on gazing out the window that she didn't hear the door open or the footsteps heading her way. so when she heard a familiar voice say "Hey Jez," she jumped out of her skin. her elbow supporting her head jerked and shoved one of her open books hard, sending it sailing over the table edge with a spin and a thump. a small squeak of surprise escaping her parted lips. trying to slow her pounding heart she looked up into lorcan's face and blinking, breathing out. "jeez lorcan, give me a heart attack much. " jez grinned lightly, teasing him a little.
finally, someone to distract her from her boredem. she should have thought lorcan might have found her, he seemed to have a knack for searching her out. not that she was ever hiding from him, he was a good friend. he'd been something more before, but that was over now. sure she felt bad that it had ended, she really had loved lorcan but he was her friend now.... and there was hugo of course. she thought lorcan had gotten over her long ago, thought that he just liked her as a friend now; she hoped so, he deserved someone decent in his life - he was a good guy and he always had been.
"so did you want to do something? i thought i could revise buuuut i just can't." she asked, grinning lightly and bending to pick up her book and her bag. she stuffed the books into her bag carefully - she liked her books and she took care of them .. most of the time - and made to stand. she swung her bag onto her shoulder and adjusted it's position as the strap cut into her shoulder slightly. her ice blue gaze looked softly at lorcan, awaiting an answer.

Ooh he hadn’t meant to startle her, he thought she would have already seen him walk in, guess he was wrong in that. He watched as a book of hers fall from the table after she knocked it. Really he hadn’t been that stealthy, in fact he was sure he had made plenty of noise. Ah well that was in the past.
Now that he had her attention, he had no idea what to do. Finding her had been the first step and well he hadn’t really planned anything else. He watched her with a smile on his face.
"You'll be fine Jez, see you're not on the floor dying, heart attack was avoided," he laughed wondering if he sounded like a complete idiot at the moment.
She asked him if there was anything he wanted to do as she couldn’t revise. Wait what, she couldn’t study.
"Since when can a Ravenclaw not be able to study, I think I’m dying of shock," he flopped down in the seat across from her dramatically. What did he want to do, well besides getting her to go back out with him there was nothing that sprung to mind.
"I hadn’t thought that far. Finding you was as far as I had thought," this time he smiled sheepishly at her. Why couldn’t he just form the words in his head, let the spill from his mouth and get it over with?

"You'll be fine Jez, see you're not on the floor dying, heart attack was avoided," jez grinned and shook her head, watching him laugh and smiling in return. "okay .. well an almost heart attack ... okay more like, a theoretical heart attack but still.." she shook her head with a small smile. he'd still scared her, but that had been her fault. he probably could have walked in clanging a pan or something and she wouldn't have noticed. not that that was the fault or lorcan himself, more like jez's preoccupied mind.
"Since when can a Ravenclaw not be able to study, I think I’m dying of shock," jez rolled her eyes lightly, grabbing a piece of paper previously left behind by however last worked on this table. with a grin and a shake of her head she tossed it at him lightly, aiming to hit his shoulder - it was paper, like it would hurt. "hey now .. if you came to insult me you can forget it " she grinned and shook her head and stuck her tongue out at him childishly.
"I hadn’t thought that far. Finding you was as far as I had thought," jez looked at him and smiled slightly, catching his sheepish smile and rolling her eyes lightly. "you just came to distract me didn't you... well it's working. " she grinned and then made to perch back on the chair seeing as lorcan was still sitting. "lorcaaaaan... i'm booored." she groaned, being one of those people who hated being bored. she gazed at her friend expectantly, half hopeful. "make the boredem go away..?" she asked pleadingly, hoping he might have an idea...

He couldn’t help but laugh, how could someone have a theoretical heart attack, it was either they were having one or not? Ah but that was one of the reasons that drew him to Jez, her sense of humour and her somewhat strange rationalising of things. And he still loved those things about her. If only she was his again, he'd make sure to hold onto her this time, he wouldn’t let anything, not even school get in the way of their relationship.
"Hey you should pay more attention you're surrounding then, daydreaming about me again were you?" of course he was only joking about the daydreaming part, although he could only hope.
Insult her, he would never intentionally insult her, have a little fun yes but never to hurt her.
"Now why on earth would I want to insult you?" he asked her, the goofy grin not once leaving his face. Something about her always brought out the crazy side of him, the good crazy that was. He wasn’t a lunatic that was for sure, now his brother on the other hand...well he wouldn’t go into that one.
Distract her, well it wasn’t his intention then again he had no idea what she had been doing.
"Of course, you know me distracting is my specialty, right alongside pranks," he decided to play along with her. And then there was the adorable whinging from her saying she was bored and that she wanted him to make it go away. He stood and reached for her hand then.
"Come on, why be stuck in here when outside is so much nice, a little cool but it’s sunny."

"pfft .." she made a noise, showing her dissagreement, then added. "oh of course lorc.. i dream about you all the time." she was joking, and that was clear - not realising that the joke behind that my hurt. she has no idea he still liked, she was far too clueless for her own good. there was a time when she would have daydreamed about him .. and indeed.. she had on occasion. but that was passed... the daydreams were set for hugo now. it wasn't something she could help exactly - emotions.. were complicated and tempermental things. one day you liked someone and then the next.... you liked someone else.
okay well i had taken a lot longer than one day to stop liking lorcan - she'd had to take a long while to get over him. "Now why on earth would I want to insult you?" jez looked at him and grinned lightly, raising an eyebrow. "hmm i don't know... you like to pick on the little people? it makes you feel better about yourself?" she joked. he wasn't insulting her - of course not, she could take a joke. but she liked to tease. when she got comfortable around people, a surprisingly joking side of her arose. it surprised some, others went with it easily.
when he stood she glanced at him. was he leaving? had she said something? "Come on, why be stuck in here when outside is so much nice, a little cool but it’s sunny." oh, now she understood. grinning, she grabbed his hand and made to stand using his hand as a light help, swinging her bag back onto her shoulder with all the books. when she was on her feet she made to drop his hand. it wasn't that she wasn't comfortable around lorcan... it was just that she didn't like to over-step the 'friends' mark in any way considering they had had a relationship. of course she didn't mind hugging him or anything it was just... physical prolonged contact of any kind wasn't going to be good for anyone ... and especially as she was with hugo ... she doubted he'd understand if he saw her walking around holding hands with lorcan. it was.. it wasn't right. she knew she was over-thinking things, it might have just been to help her stand or tow her to the door but .. she was a thinker, was jessamine. "alright alright.. let's go grab that vitamin D whilst we still can!" she said lightly, looking at him.
