Scorpius held his broom close to him. He thought the whole team was meant to practice yet no one had turned up. Maybe Al wanted him to practice alone, but there wasn’t anything wrong with his chaser skills...was there? No he thought after a few moments, a slight shake to his head.

It was early evening, the weather was starting to turn cold;, well it was getting closer to winter. Why oh why did they have to start school when the weather approached winter? Still he pulled his gloves on, flexing his fingers as he felt warmth spread over his hands. These gloves weren’t exactly part of the quidditch uniform, but he honestly didn’t care at the moment, as long as he was warm, who cared right? So where was everyone, he thought as he turned his head towards the entrance of the quidditch pitch. Had they forgotten about training, Merlin they better not have. He was surprised Al wasn’t there yet. A sigh escaped his lips as he begun pacing, trying to keep warm. At least it provided him something to do, sure he could have used a warming charm but then he'd be back to square one, bored out on the quidditch pitch.

Eventually he got tired of pacing and decided to mount his broom, a quick few warm up laps wouldn’t hurt and so he kicked off from the ground and flew towards a set of goals before turning and flying to the other, doing a couple of laps before he angled his broom down, diving until his feet touched solid ground again. Surely the team was coming; maybe he had just gotten the time wrong.

Summer was over and that meant it was time to get serious about Quidditch practice and this year Albus would be extra serious, mainly due to the fact that he had be given the title as the Slytherin Quidditch Captain. He was actually surprised when he had opened the envelope that summer and found the badge, he knew it would be either him or Scorpius, but perhaps deep down he felt bad if he thought it was going to be him. But that didn’t matter now, he was now the captain and of course he knew he would let Scorpius act as co-captain that was just how the duo was.

Albus was walking across the school lawn towards the Quidditch pitch with his new broom over his shoulder, something he had convinced his mother to buy him for making Quidditch Captain. It was the newest model out on the market, the Skyrocket 200 and since Albus was the seeker on the team he needed the fastest broom out there, combine that with his skill and he was sure he would be able to snag every single snitch at each game.

Albus had asked Scorpius to meet him on the Quidditch pitch that day, a day for the two of them to meet before they would bring in the rest of the Slytherin team since he wanted to run some plays over with Scorpius and what better place to do it then on the actual Quidditch field itself?

When Albus got to the Quidditch pitch he found that Scorpius was already there flying around, probably a couple of warm-up laps after all it was a bit chilly out. Albus decided that perhaps he should join him, so mounting his new Skyrocket 200; he took off and flew to catch up with Scorpius so that he could fly by his best friend, the one friend that his father didn’t want him to be friends with. Not that he cared what his father thought about Scorpius. “Hey Scorpius,” the young Potter called out to him once he was flying next to him.

How long had he been out there flying on his broom, he had lost track of time from the moment he had mounted his faithful skyrocket 200. He hadn’t even noticed if Albus and the team had decided to show, maybe this was all a huge prank to them. Well more fool them, he thought, he'd get his own back, besides he had the whole pitch to himself. How would they ever be able to practice now, ha. A smug look crossed Scorpius face for a moment before he slowed to a hover.

Rolling his shoulders, he felt them loose up a bit more. Glancing back down at the pitch, he saw someone. Finally someone had showed up. Shrugging to himself, he urged his broom forward, what were 2 people compared to the whole team. He didn’t know who had shown up either, being high up he could only see the green uniform. Well at least it was a Slytherin he thought. Turning back to look where he was going, he narrowly avoiding flying into the goals, having to steer hard to the right before heading in the other direction. That was when he heard another broom and a moment later he heard Albus. Glancing to his side, he saw his best friend on his broom. Well the captain was here; surely he would have reminded the rest of the team about practice.
"Al, where the hell is everyone?" he asked, once more coming to a halt in the middle of the field.

Albus stopped alongside Scorpius as he tilted his head slightly to the side. “We don’t have practice today Scorp. I told you that I wanted to meet you out here so we can look at some of the new moves I came up with. I wanted to see what you thought before we got the team to try them out,” he chuckled lightly wondering if perhaps he might have given his best friend the wrong idea and thinking the rest of the team would be here. But he believed in his best friend and that was one of the reasons why he pretty much stated that Scorp was the co-captain of the team.

Then Albus smirked, they should probably warm-up some before they started working on the new moves. “Hey let’s warm up some first,” he chuckled before he took off ahead of Scorp knowing that he would catch up. After all, the two of them were probably the best Quidditch players in the school and add that in with having the best broom out there, it mad Al feel like that the two of them belonged on a professional Quidditch Team.

Albus closed his eyes as he began to fly around the Quidditch field, enjoying the way the wind brushed over his body as he picked up speed. He was honestly glad that his mother allowed him to get the new Skyrocket 200 this past summer. It was perhaps one of the best things, if not the best thing that his parents had ever given him.

Oh so it was just the two of them, well he could have been a little more direct before. Oh well he figured. So he wanted to show him some new moves and it perked his interest up a bit. What new moves did he have in mind he wondered and would they be effective in the upcoming matches, especially against Gryffindor.

He was about to ask what sort of moves when Al suggested that they warm up first and sped off. He had been warming up for a while, but a chase was a chase and so Scorpius leaned against his broom, shooting off behind Albus and before long catching up with him. He eased up a bit, letting the wind play wildly with his hair. He had to laugh at the females that hated having a hair out of place and yet signed up for quidditch. He smirked, shaking his head lightly before forcing himself not to think of that.

Flying always relaxed him; it put him in a better frame of mind and made thinking seem a whole lot clearer. And it usually helped him wake up in the mornings when coffee was just not that good enough. He couldn’t imagine his life without flying; perhaps he should join a professional team after Hogwarts, hopefully his favourite team, the Falmouth Falcons. Of course there was always following in his father's footsteps and becoming the next minister, ah there was simply too many options.

The wind blowing through his jet black hair was perhaps the best feeling in the world. It was one of the many reasons that Albus enjoyed flying, plus it just gave him that thrill he needed when he was out on his broom. Of course, his new Skyrocket 200 only made the feeling even more incredible. He was really glad that when he had opened his letter during the summer to find his Captain badge, and of course the fact that his mother was quite willing to let him choose a new broom, and the sleek black Skyrocket 200 was the best one out there. So to match his skills and his broom together, he knew that he’d be able to capture that snitch right from under James’s nose. He was also glad to hear that Rose was the Quidditch Captain, instead of James it was something more that Al could show James up on.

Albus smiled when he saw his best friend catch up to him and the two of them flew together silently. He knew that Scorpius loved to fly just as much as he did, perhaps it was the love for flying that brought these two boys together during the fateful first year at Hogwarts? Or perhaps it was the fact that Albus had decided to ignore his Uncle Ron and get to know Scorpius before being judgmental about him? That was where he was different compared to most of his family. He wasn’t quick to judge someone based upon their parents like his brother was, nor did he judge them by their house either.

Once Albus felt that he was warmed up and ready to show Scorpius the moves he had looked up, one of them his mother had told him about, he had slowed down to stop and float in midair, knowing that Scorpius would stop as well.
