Nathaniel Greyback could not swim. This was something that he had learned a long time ago. He'd fallen into the lake at a younger age and learned that he had no idea what to do at all. A normal person might learn to swim, but that wasn't what Nate thought was important at the time. Instead, he was planning on not going really near the lake and assuming that he'd be fine. Which was lame whenever someone else had trouble swimming. He'd seen a few first years have trouble with the lake and it was always sad when he knew he couldn't do anything. He'd sit there and wish he could help, but he couldn't help.
And then someone would ask why the school prefect couldn't do anything to help out. It wasn't his fault, really. He wished he could help. It wasn't like he was just sitting back and doing nothing. He would do anything he could to get people to pay attention and get help. But the werewolf simply couldn't risk getting into water. If he died trying to save someone else from dying, it seemed like a bad thing. Why kill two people when only one person would die? Ugh. That sounded wrong too. In all honesty, he had no idea what to do or what to think about this.
Luckily this time while he was sitting near the lake, no one was in the water. Then again, there weren't really a lot of people outside. It was a nice day and he was alone. This might have drove him insane in the past, but he was really enjoying it. He could feel the stress leaving him. He'd been a prefect for two years and half the time he wasn't sure what he was suppose to do, but he was learning what to do. It just took effort sometimes. Just like it took a lot for him to calm down or really relax. It seemed like his life took a lot out of him sometimes.
Taking a seat in the grass looking at the lake, Nate pulled a book out of his bag. While he was sitting down, he might as well go ahead and study some. It was one of the times he had off from rounds and he wasn't sure what to do with his free time any more. Clearly studying would be boring but if it was the only thing he could think to do, he was going to do it. Oh yay boredom. Maybe he'd get lucky and someone would come to say something to him. Maybe.

Aubrey loved the feel of a sunny day, the way the sun beat down upon her body and warmed her right up, and this day wasn’t any different. The young blonde had woken early that morning and finished her homework much earlier than she normally did. She felt that she should reward herself for not procrastinating on her homework for one and thus she headed on outside. Her long blond hair flowed behind her as she made her away across the school grounds. It felt great to be outside on such a nice day and she knew that she better enjoyed it as it was drawing closer to winter.
Normally Aubrey would be accompanied by her best friend, Rose Weasley, but unfortunately Rose had Qudditch practice that day and thus the young Gryffindor was left to venture on her own. She had left her school bag back up by her four poster bed as she didn’t need it for the rest of day. Besides, if she did need something all she had to do was use the summoning charm.
So as to what Aubrey could do outside? Well she would venture to the Quidditch Pitch to practice flying with her new broom but she really didn’t want to make a fool out of herself in front of fellow Gryffidors. She was sure many of them new about her incident in the first year and would probably find it all to funny if Aubrey showed up and tried to fly again only to crash right into a goal post or something similar. So instead the young Gryffindor made her way down to the lake. She actually enjoyed watching the giant squid at times and it seemed like the perfect day just to relax by the lake and watch it.
It didn’t take her long to make her way to the lake and then she realized she wasn’t the only one that had fancied the idea of relaxing by the lake. In fact it was one of her good friends, Nate Greyback, that was there as well. She smiled at him before she sat down right next to him. “Hey Nate, are you enjoying this amazing weather like I am?” she chuckled lightly before laying back down on the grass.

He was flipping around in the pages. This was pretty good. He liked getting to read ahead. Even if he could never be the best student, he liked this. There was something calming about sitting there with a book that he wasn't really sure about. The water seemed calm and not at all dangerous from where he was standing. It almost seemed like something he could deal with. People were leaving him alone. No one said anything about his badge or anything about his father. This was pretty great.
Before he could think about anything, someone actually said something that pulled him out of his mind. He opened his eyes and couldn't help but grin. Oh this was someone he knew. He couldn't help but grin at her. There was something that really got him going about Aubrey. Even without meaning to, she was one of his favorite people. It didn't matter if they were talking about the Quidditch game or if they were just hanging out. He still liked being friends with her even though she was dating some random guy. Ugh. He was no good for her, but Nate wouldn't say anything.
"Yeah, it's pretty great weather. And I don't have to do rounds or anything." For once in his life, he was glad to have a weekend where he could just sit back and relax. "I never thought I'd miss things like this where I can just sit and relax. I never thought having a badge would make life hectic." But it did. With his badge, he had no idea what to do half of the time. He felt like he was always working and always doing something. That wasn't what he wanted but no one really seemed to pay attention to him when he complained.
Since he had someone to talk to now, he figured that he might as well go ahead and close the book. It wasn't like he was really reading it any more. So there was no point in him thinking about it. "How has your day been, by the way? Have you been enjoying the weekend?" He really hoped she did. It was rare that they had relaxing days like this. It was possibly the most perfect day since he could last remember. Then again, his past week had been slammed, so it was hard to think of the week before. Or any time before.

Aubrey would know about how having a prefects badge would make life hectic, but really if it wasn’t for her badge she probably wouldn’t be dating Scorpius right now, and she didn’t think she would ever want that to change. “Yeah being a prefect can be pretty hectic, but I really like being one,” she said with a warm smile upon her face as she began to run the fingers of her right hand through the soft grass. She was gazing up at the almost clear sky as there were a few clouds floating a bout. She had always liked looking up at clouds and imaging what they looked like, she was sure one of them looked a lot like her cat, Ebon.
“Oh it’s been quite alright, I’m already caught up on my homework,” she said when she snapped back to reality and realized that Nate was still talking to her. She knew even though this weekend’s homework was quite easy, didn’t mean that the rest of the year would be. It was her sixth year after all and that meant the teachers were going to begin dropping homework on them as if they were going to try and drown the poor students of Hogwarts. “What about you though? Has your weekend gone well so far?” she asked him as she turned to look up at him again, taking her mind off of the soft clouds that were floating above them.
