bad timing

hey everyone,

first off let me apologize for being such a terrible admin. i am in no way abandoning nms, as soon as things settle down for me i will be back and posting away so that hopefully we can breath a bit more life into this amazing site that we all enjoy.

secondly comes the explanations for both pepper and i, as we are basically interconnected here.

as i said in the chat box a while ago... a very close online friend of mine, one who i roleplayed with for years, one that i would pretty much call my best online friend (though i have many of them ) revealed to me that she had cancer. she hadn't wanted for me to know, but it came out, and because pepper and i knew her so well we both decided to take a bit of time away from nms just so that we could focus on talking to this friend and such and, well, get our heads wrapped around it. so we took our little absence, things were well, and then the worst happened. literally a day after i was telling some of you 'hey, peps and i will be back on sunday!' we received news through someone who knew our online friend in person that she had lost her fight. i'm not going to lie, it hit me incredibly hard and still is. i don't deal well with losing people... which sucks, because that seems to happen quite often with me.

anyway, i told a few of you on msn that pepper and i would obviously be away longer because of the development... and then guess what? the next freaking day, i am online, actually reading over stories that this friend and i wrote together that i've saved on my laptop... i needed to go to the kitchen for a moment, so i closed the laptop lid and put it down beside me. when i came back, all that popped up was a black screen. we shut the laptop down, turned it on again, and we got the dreaded white screen with a flashing folder... of course we contacted apple support, but all they could tell us over the phone was that it seems our hard-drive is somehow malfunctioning... and that there is a very good chance that we've also lost all memory on the laptop. this is months worth of notes for classes, all the stories and ics and old rp threads that we've saved on microsoft word, and th conversations with our good friends that we also had saved. what's hit me hardest, because of the timing, is that pretty much all record of the amazing friendship i had with the girl who passed on is supposedly irritrievable... i'm hoping apple can work miracles, but i don't know...

anyway, we need to get the laptop fixed. we have a 3ds for basic internet, but there is too much coding on nms for it to load. we've had a trip planned to vegas for like... months, which is the only thing about this situation that is 'good' timing, because there are no apple stores near us. we leave for vegas in two days, and return the following saturday, so while in vegas we hope to get the laptop fixed. we're crossing our fingers... and i will, of course, keep you updated.
