warning: will get wordy. i am terrible at summing up plots. i hope it's worth the read.
my lovely jaycen has too much happiness in his life, and needs some misery. ^^ ... seriously, though, he needs his daddy, so you will be loved if you take him. jaycen is the 'golden boy' of ravenclaw. head boy, beater on the quidditch team, and ravenclaw champion, it seems that jaycen has it all. except for one thing, something that is extremely important to the teenager: a good relationship with his father.
back up to explain? okay. so, most of his history is up to you. he was an only child, comes from a line of blood purists (therefore he despises mudbloods, blood traitors, and tolerates half-bloods), and attended durmstrang as a student. during voldemort's second reign of the wizarding world soren was living with his girlfriend, janice, a former slytherin of hogwarts, in ireland. they were quiet supporters of voldemort's reign, not official death eaters themselves but certainly enthusiastic about all of his ideals. two years after his death the pair were married, and a few years later jaycen was born. soren wanted more children, but janice had complications and was no longer able to conceive, so their family was stuck at a number of three.
if there is one thing that soren values above all else, except perhaps power, it is his pureblood line. that line now rests on jaycen. soren coached the boy since he was young, explaining how their family is superior to most of the wizarding world because of their untainted bloodline, how mudbloods and blood traitors are scum on the bottom of their shoes, how harry potter was just a foolish little boy who ruined the ideal world, etc. he gave jaycen all of the 'information' required so that his boy grow up right, and jaycen failed him. jaycen attended hogwarts, as his mother did, where the only 'good' house was slytherin. that was where he was expected, almost required, to be sorted. but it didn't work. instead jaycen was sent to ravenclaw, the 'goody-two-shoes' house, and soren was so infuriated at his son's failure that after sending a furious howler to him about the disappointment and shame jaycen had inflicted on the family soren cut off all contact with his son for the rest of the year. they didn't speak much that summer even, and jaycen was relieved to head back to school the following september. the following years passed by much the same. the disappointment of jaycen's placement in ravenclaw never faded, and every little thing the boy seemed to do appeared to be to shame his father further. he befriended molly weasley, spoke openly with mudbloods, and seemed to abandon his family's ideals all together. nothing but one big disappointment.
as if being a ravenclaw wasn't bad enough, jaycen had to take his 'goody two shoe'edness to the next level and be named a prefect in his sixth year at the school. to hopefully alleviate his father's fury he joined the quidditch team as well, and made it on as a beater, calming his father's anger somewhat. prefects were a bunch of pansies in soren's opinion, but quidditch beaters... at least they had strength. it evened out. for his final year at the school, though, jayce was named the head boy. now at the age where he didn't just lie down and take the fury thrown at him by his father, jaycen has been arguing back for quite some time. their fight about his head boy status ended up in jaycen actually leaving the house for the rest of the summer, staying at a friend's, and soren realized enough was enough. to regain control of his son and keep the tate bloodline pure he has forced jaycen into a betrothal with pureblood CHUN AU YONG, something which jaycen is definitely not pleased in, even moreso currently as he's realizing (though he's in denial about it) that he's falling for the half-blood head girl, raychel entwhistle. jaycen has gone along with the betrothal because he's realized he only has a year left to mend bridges with his father, he doesn't want to leave the house to start his life after hogwarts with their relationship as it is. so he's quietly followed along with his father's plans, even put his name in to be a champion of his house in the hogwart's tournament to bring some 'glory' to the tate name as his father wants and was chosen. but nothing he does can seem to appease soren anymore. he took raychel to the yule ball instead of chun, and in the second task where the champions had to 'save a loved one', it was raychel as jaycen's hostage.
things will not end well between jayce and soren. raychel is jaycen's final, and soren is set in his ways. he's stubborn, as is jaycen, and prideful, again, as is jaycen. while super strict and harsh on his son, he has a different side of himself that he shows to the rest of the world to make himself a respected, well known member of the wizarding community. he's charismatic and knows how to charm his way onto the good side of everyone while keeping his blood purism a secret. what there is planned for soren i'm not quite sure... definitely a lot of tension between himself and jaycen, which is the main reason i want him. it would be just amazing to have jayce's dad around. so... please? i'll love you forever!
