the secret side of me, i never let you see__ i keep it caged but i can't control it- - "exactly! . . you stopped yourself . . you fought it . . and then you ran! . . which takes a whole lot more courage than sitting there and fighting a battle you couldn't possibly have won! . . at least now you have a chance to stick it to them the next time you do meet!" there was a clear difference in the way that the two brothers thought. jasper was positive, the upbeat kid who could apparently look on the bright side or the general good side of anything, and seyton... he just couldn't. not right now, anyway. far too many negative things had happened to him and the people that he cared about for him to have enough of a heart to always focus on the good side lately. dear lord he had issues... he needed a bottle of felix filicus to keep him upbeat or something, because normal thoughts certainly weren't working.
jasper wouldn't give up on trying to get him to see things his way, though. the gryffindor was a lot like seyton had been when he was younger in that way. they would keep going around in the same old circles until one of them gave up or passed out from exhaustion. the latter situation was likely to be jasper, and seyton didn't want to land his brother in worse condition than he already was, so wasn't the best option to just pretend to give in? maybe his brother would see through the ruse, but in the chance he didn't... it was worth it. "the time . . fenrir attacked me . . and you got me out you beat him then . . right?" i didn't beat him. i ran like a coward. was what sey wanted to say, accompanied with you don't even remember it. but as noted, that would push them back on the same path... so the nurse forced a small smile, though not a one hundred percent beam he hoped that it was relaxed enough. "yeah, i guess i did. in a way."
"everytime you've gone up against fenrir . . yuo've come out alive . . not many people can say that seyton . . " this was true, but what the werewolf hated was that the people he cared about always seemed to get hurt in the process. angel, jasper... it was almost surprising that one of his siblings hadn't been with him when he ran into jaedyn and fenrir, breaking the trend, but if one of them had been they would have gotten injured, too. "yeah... let's keep the record at four and not try for a fifth, though. i don't want to press my luck any further." he tried to make a joke out of it, accompany the words with a small grin, but he was serious. he could happily go the rest of his life without ever seeing his father again.
"yeah well fen's got a habit of underestimating people remember? he always seems to underestimate you." it was true. fen probably thought seyton so weak because he was a blood traitor and didn't follow 'proper' family values that it never would have occured to him that the nurse would have been learning to protect himself. the element of surprise was now lost, but it was okay. he'd thrown a wrench in fenrir's perfect momentum, the damage was done. "hopefully he'll make the same mistake again, if it's needed." "got a blanket somewhere?" "oh, uh... yeah." the nurse rose, moving to a closet a little ways away stuffed with extra blankets and pillows. the nurse selected a warm blanket and closed the closet, moving back to jasper to spread the blanket over the teen. the awkward subject was broken with the changed topic, which seyton was glad for. he was in no rush to return to dreary topics, so he tried to pick something better for them to focus on. "how's nikki been?"

"yeah, i guess i did. in a way." jasper knew the tone. he saw the smile. he was feeling like crap, but it wasn't that bad. he shook his head and he frowned, he knew his brother. injured or not, he knew him and he knew that he wasn't taking jasper's word. he was trying to shut him up and he couldn't help the flash behind his eyes. he knew his brother was trying to help, trying to get him to relax, but it wouldn't help, until seyton came to his sense and stopped acting like this. jasper had the monopoly in the family of being a maryt, seyton was the rock, the solid one. not this person. he couldn't help the snarl that vibrated from his lips. "do not humour me seyton . . i'm not an idiot" he said and he shook his head slightly. he coughed and moved to drag a hand over his face, his stomach curling for some unknown reason.
"yeah... let's keep the record at four and not try for a fifth, though. i don't want to press my luck any further." jasper nodded and he even managed to fight the annoyance he was feeling and he managed a small grin. not big, not his usual, but it was something. "y-yeah . . i'll t-take that" he said as he shifted slightly. he had no idea why he was feeling so crap, he'd taken the potion like sey had given to him, done what the guy had said, and he'd been feeling better till about a second ago. shifting he tries to focus on what setyon was saying. he shook his head slightly and sighed. "hopefully he'll make the same mistake again, if it's needed." he nodded slightly. "yeah . . we come from him . . and we're pretty stupid . . so have to have gotten it from somewhere" he said as he settled back against the bed.
"oh, uh... yeah." jasper nodded and watched him get up, he rolled onto his side slightly and shut his eyes lightly, needing to rest them for a minute, his energy had drained in the last few minutes, what was left of it seemed non existent and he was feeling really cold now, the cold creeping through his bones, not his skin. he shivered and coughed slightly, swallowing a bit as he pushed himself up onto his elbow. he heard seyton heading back, going to take the blanket when he spread it over him and he pulled it up to his neck slightly. "it's f-freezing" he said as he suddenly felt a sweat break out on his forehead. he shook his head and wipes his sleeve over his face, he'd started to get a little worried, after all, the last time he'd felt this bad he'd fallen into a coma.
he felt seyton sit back on the bed and he heard his question, but he couldn't answer it. he felt the blood drain from his face as his stomach curled again and he swallowed, forcing himself to sit up he gripped his stomach with one hand and put one hand to his mouth and swallowed back a gag. not wanting to cover seyton with what was on his stomach he managed to kick the blankets off, scrambled up from the bed and staggered over to a sink not to far away, taking his hand from his mouth he leaned on it heavily and just made to lean over it as his stomach rejected it's contents. he coughed as it did, cringing as the sound echoed through the wing and he hoped no one else was in there to hear it. he coughed again, spitting into the sink and he made to lean his elbow on the side of the sink and rested his head in his hand. he glanced at seyton, wiping his hand over his mouth. "g-got anything for this?" he said as he swallowed, shifting slightly, but staying near the sink.

the secret side of me, i never let you see__ i keep it caged but i can't control it- - "do not humour me seyton . . i'm not an idiot" the nurse paused, blinking in shock at his little brother's tone. okay, so maybe he was humouring the kid a bit too much, treating him like a baby, but the student was injured and their conversation was stuck on an endless loop. jasper needed his rest, continuing a pointless debate was not going to give him that rest. they could always revive their pointless argument in the morning, when jasper wasn't about to fall asleep (or should not be sleeping as he should be right now, anyway). but rather than seeing that and be thankful for it jasper chose to snap? uncalled for, really. "okay, fine. you're not an idiot, but neither am i and my opinion won't be so easily changed, jasper. you need your rest, just relax and get it."
"yeah . . we come from him . . and we're pretty stupid . . so have to have gotten it from somewhere" a small grin took over the nurse's lips as he looked over his brother, already knowing his response. "hey, speak for yourself!!" he teased, unable to resist the brotherly joke. the greybacks may not be a typical family in most ways, but there were some natural bonds ever present between jasper and his siblings if he could help it. they couldn't be completely abnormal, after all. going eleven years for many of them (or in sey's case, about twenty) without regular interaction with the rest of their siblings, though they had many, didn't change the fact that they were still siblings and could fight and tease and torment just like any other family in hogwarts would.
"it's f-freezing" the words made warning bells ring off in the head nurse's brain instantly. that wasn't normal, not for the wound jasper had received. fevers generally meant little in the hospital wing but an unfortunate flu caught in the middle of winter, but jasper wasn't in the middle of an illness, and a fever was a very bad, unwanted symptom of something... what that 'something' was had yet to be determined.
his question of nikki went unanswered as jasper bolted from the bed to the nearest sink, of which there were many in the hospital wing, and before sey really had too much time to react the sound of vomit splashing against the sides filled the wing. luckily the brothers were alone, other than those unfortunate souls lying petrified at the far end of the wind with the curtains drawn around him... it wasn't uncommon in the wing for the sound and smell of one student's illness to spark the same reaction in another student. of course there was no worry for such an event with seyton- he was a nurse for pete's sake, he had a strong stomach. "you're having some sort of a reaction... must be to a potion." the nurse stated as, in a few short seconds, seyton stood and closed the distance between himself and his brother, placing one hand on his brother's back as he tried to guide the boy to sit on the edge of the bed. "lean over, head between your knees," he instructed, waving his wand to summon a bucket out of a nearby closet for situations such as this. not an incantation needed to be spoken, his wandless magic was getting stronger every day, and normally he would grin at such a realization, but he had more important things on his mind right now.
