alarica was nervous. oh yeah she was incredibly nervous about tonight, but also incredibly excited. this would be the first time she'd attended a ball before - and the first time she'd attended it was a guy. before, she'd never had a guy to go with, and so she hadn't wanted to be one of those girls who sat at the side-lines watching everyone with jealousy - all dressed up but nobody to dance with. she knew she was hardly pick of the lot, with her bright auburn hair most guys were put off from the start, add to that her short height and ordinary, plain features and she was hardly a beauty - or so she thought. then plus the fact that she could be a little shy sometimes, go a little unnoticed and guys just moved her aside for another girl. she wasn't sexy or witty or funny or promiscuous or really intelligent or sarcastic or cute...she was just too ordinary. so before now she'd never had anyone to get dressed up for, to dance with.
now there was blake.
her cheeks flushed even at the thought of him - which was incredibly embarrassing if she happened to be in company and he popped into her head as he often did now and again. she tried to push him out of mind for now, not wishing to have him intrude and ruin her concentration as she attempted to finish the last few curls to her hair with her wand. this kind of wand work needed focus, or she might end up doing the wrong motion and shaving a whole strip off! not a good look. at all! she finished her hair in no time at all, thanking magic despite her, she guess, im-proper use of it, and stood to survey herself critically. she had never worn a dress like this before, the way it fit to the curves of her slender body before widening out in beautiful folds to the floor, where her feet were hidden behind the fabric. it was a little heavy but she loved the dress, she just hoped she looked like she could carry the look off well enough to do it justice.
sighing and turning her back on the mirror, having already applied a light layer of mascara and lip gloss (who needed more than that?), she grabbed her shoes and slipped them on. time to go she supposed, she didn't want to be late for blake. alarica took a deep breath to steady her nerves, trying to ignore the little flips of anxiety in her chest, before she headed out of the dorm room. the other girls had already gone, though she hadn't expected them to wait. alarica's only decent friend, hannah, had gone already, and so alarica would have to decend into the room alone - not that she minded really. forcing a small smile onto her face she headed down the stairs and into the common room, glancing at the floor to make sure she put each foot on the step and not trip over in the long dress and heels. then as she reached level ground she looked up, her warm eyes immediately going to search her handsome boyfriend out in the crowd....

[style=text-align: center] tonight is the night [/style][style=font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; padding: 25px; margin-top: -10px; color: CCCCCC;]well, this was definitely unusual.
balls were not blake's sort of scene. actually, any sort of lovey dovey social gathering was not his scene, no matter what he was trying to do. who wanted to be stuck around the happy couples giggling about how they'd be 'together forever' a week before their relationship blew up in their faces, causing them to spend the rest of the year loudly exclaiming to whoever might actually listen 'i don't know what i ever saw in them!'? not blake. he would go to the real parties, the ones that involved a good amount of butterbeer and drunken girls more than willing to make out or get frisky. there was no the privacy for such acts in the great hall with everyone around, so why would he be here? he knew the answer. it wasn't one he actually asked himself. all of this he was doing, the neat black tux completing his look, the time spent picking it out, was done for one girl. alarica amethyst.
it had been almost two months since he'd first met her. an annoying long time to get what he wanted, to be honest. the game he was playing with her was still amusing, and he was pretty sure that soon enough he'd be able to seduce her, but for now she was annoyingly resistant to even the slightest of moves on his part, and of course he backed off quickly whenever he realized that. she was a fun little game, he didn't want to chase her away before he could 'beat the level' persay. maybe today would help, though. after all, he'd been gentleman enough to ask her to the ball with him without any prodding or anything of the sort, even though it wasn't his scene. surely that could give him some brownie points towards a better 'reward' than her company some time down the line? only time would tell, but he was going to make the best of his evening.
luckily guys did not have to take as much time getting themselves ready for the ball as girls did. or rather, they just didn't spend as much time on it. putting on a tux and proper shoes, looking in the mirror for a moment to make sure his hair was good, and blake was pretty much ready to leave for the ball. he looked pretty dashing, if he said so himself. of course, blake was never a guy to diss his looks anyway. he believed he was one of the 'hottest' guys his age at hogwarts, though admittedly there weren't a hell of a lot of eighteen year olds at the school. it just made all of his little games with the girls more enjoyable.
today, though, he could not be thinking about the other girls. regardless of those he spent time with when alarica wasn't aware of his actions, he had to be focused on her and her alone tonight. not a single dance, however 'respectful' it would be, could be spent on another girl. he was going to tire of spending his time with her soon enough, and he'd like to get his time's worth of enjoyment in the end before he gave up on her, which meant he had to milk every second at her side to push her to give him what he wanted.
that night, of course, began with the right first impression. you could never put on too much charm. blake waited outside of the great hall, since he and alarica weren't of the same house (thank god) this was the best place to meet her. he mingled in the crowd, grinning at a few of his friends (especially a few female friends), but always kept his eyes open for the vivid hair of his girlfriend to decent the stairs. and then... there she was. his eyes widened slightly as he looked at her descending the stairs. of course he thought she was hot, he was targeting her for that exact reason, of course, but somehow he hadn't been expecting for her to look, well, like this. putting a charming smile on his face he moved forward to the foot of the stairs, dropping a hand to her waist the moment she reached him, pulling her close (which was a bit difficult with her dress) to press his lips to hers, speaking after he finally pulled away. "well, doesn't someone look absolutely gorgeous this evening," he smiled, angling his head downwards to look into her eyes with his hand keeping them as close as he could with the dress. she didn't know if blake had done this sort of thing before and she was curious. she knew a lot of guys didn't really like attending balls, mostly because they had to wear a 'monkey suit' or something of the likes, which 'itched' and was 'uncomfortable'. not that she'd really been out with many guys over the years to know but she'd heard them from time to time, or girl's joking about it. she could understand their complaints, she couldn't imagine balls being much of a guys thing, but if they got to go with someone they liked or should she even think it, loved, then shouldn't they make the effort? shouldn't they put the complaints aside? it seemed that many guys did just that, including she thought quite possibly, blake. she didn't know if he enjoyed balls or not but he'd still asked her to go with him, and he was still making the effort.
he'd surprised her, in an incredibly pleasant way. when she'd met him she hadn't been sure what to expect. he was older than her and a slytherin, and she thought that maybe he had wanted to play with her, because she was a younger, innocent, naive hufflepuff. maybe he just wanted to get into her pants..and yet those thoughts had been blown from her mind quickly as she'd gotten to know him, almost as soon as they'd started talking she'd seen that he wasn't the normal slytherin, he was completely different. he'd been the perfect gentleman throughout their relationship so far, incredibly sweet and gentle but he was enough man for her to feel protected by him, to not feel pressured by him into going too far...but she felt that maybe she was ready .. or would be soon. she knew that deep down she was falling for him, head right over heels, and whilst a part of her was scared, the most part didn't care, she wasn't slowing herself down, she wanted to fall in love with him...she thought he was right for her.
she was surprised that it had been two months already since they'd met but she was overjoyed that they'd lasted so long already, and that they hadn't argued or anything. she wondered if it might go further, if even after he left hogwarts they'd stay together. she already hoped so, though she knew she was getting a little ahead of herself and she quickly quietened her thoughts. she headed for the great hall where they'd agreed to meet, considering they were in different houses. she was surprised he was in slytherin really, he'd shown no side to her that he deserved the house, then again perhaps she was being too closed-minded about slytherins. usually she didn't judge people by house, but being picked on by enough slytherin's over the years you couldn't help it at times.
she saw him almost straight away, her eyes seeking him out and her heart skipped a beat before picking up double time as she saw him standing there. he looked hot...incredibly, completely so damn hot that for a minute she wouldn't how the heck she'd even gotten him. she was plain, there were so many better looking, sexier, cleverer, wittier girls in hogwarts that he could have his pick of...yet he'd picked her. she felt a warmth fill her heart at that thought as she grinned softly and headed straight for him. she saw his eyes widen slightly and she wondered why, she couldn't look that good could she? not compared to the girls she was passing on her way toward him. she grinned gently as she reached him, tilting her head up to look at him and feeling a burst of tingles as she felt his hand touch her waist and hen his lips on hers before she could open her mouth to speak. she let him draw her close, pressing against him slightly through the folds of fabric and lightly circling her arms around his neck.
her cheeks flushed at how publicly they were kissing, how she didn't want him to stop, but when it started to get to the point where it was heating a little she began to pull back. "well, doesn't someone look absolutely gorgeous this evening," she blushed a second time, her cheeks almost matching her hair after the compliment and she smiled up at him, her eyes gazing over his handsome features. "thank you," she said softly, meaning it, "and don't you look dashing," she said in return, stretching slightly to press her lips to his cheek before going to pull back slightly, hands dropping from around his neck and going to take his instead. "ready to go?" she asked lightly, eager to test out his dancing skills.

[style=text-align: center] tonight is the night [/style][style=font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; padding: 25px; margin-top: -10px; color: CCCCCC;]one of the best parts of the evening was the outfits of the girls in the school. they all put so much of their precious time searching out the perfect dress, the perfect color, shape, material, so that they could impress their dates for the few hours of the ball that they would be attending. it was kind of pathetic if you really thought about it- why put so much energy and effort into a few hours of your life?- but dear god did it pay off. blake had spotted a few girls in tighter dresses who he certainly wanted to, er, talk to someone in the next few weeks, but now his eyes were focused on his 'girlfriend' and the material that adorned her body. it gave her torso amazing curves, and he couldn't help but imagine those curves underneath the dress... without any material on whatsoever. why the hell couldn't she just give in already!?
but, of course, like the good gentleman she thought he was, blake kept his frustrations quiet behind charming words and smiles. girls were fickle, they were just as easy to chase away with a wrong word as they were to draw in with a pleasant smile. girls really were the stupidest creatures on earth. more trusting and loyal than dogs if you played your cards right... not that blake was complaining, it was clearly how he got his enjoyment out of the naive ones.
blake was not shy of public affection. in fact, he adored heated kisses in the middle of the hallway, and enjoyed it all the more when he knew that alarica was not the type of girl who might most often be seen making out in the corner between classes. her innocence was amusing, just waiting to be corrupted, and even kisses were a step towards that. "thank you," he smiled warmly, noting the blush on her cheeks. "i only speak the truth." she was blushing all the time when she was around him, a clear sign that he knew what he was doing when it came to her, or any girls and the games he liked to play with them. hopefully it wouldn't be too long until he could leave her behind, perhaps pulling her back in every so often for his amusement though, and maybe spend a bit of time on a more mature girl who didn't turn tomato red every time he complimented her. mind you, more mature girls wouldn't get the same compliments he gave alarica. his compliments to them would certainly be more sexual and less charming boyfriend, but they never complained.
"and don't you look dashing," i know. of course he didn't voice the vain thoughts, but he thought them all the same. he certainly looked better than poor slobs like albus potter, who he'd seen as he was leaving the slytherin commons room, or any other mudblood or blood traitor around. "i still think you've got me beat," were the words he chose to voice to her- considerably less 'dickish'. when she moved her hands to his he paused, pulling away, and offered her his arm like a good gentleman instead, of course accompanied by the same charming smile always had to have on his face when he was around her. "ready to go?" he just nodded with a smile, walking with her to the great hall where a new song was just about to play. he led her to the dance flood, moving his hands to her waist once they were in position. he focused down at her, ignoring the other couples around them as though she was the only thing in the world right now, like a good boyfriend. "merry christmas, ally," he smiled, leaning forward to place a gentle kiss on her lips. however long he wanted to carry it on, he kept it short and sweet as he heard the music strike up from the band. "might i have this dance?" [/style]tagged; name/open. words; ###. notes; have anything to say?

she'd never worn a dress like this before. usually she tended to wear comfortable, casual clothes aside from her uniform. sure she didn't wear trackies or whatnot, but jeans usually, and simple, comfortable tops rather than all those frilly things girls tended to wear. she wore skirts and such in the summer, but she didn't really dress up every day, and so it was different to wear something like this. it was nice. she felt strangely more confident than usual in the dress, with the way it clung to her curves, tight-fitting which was something she never usually wore. she never felt confident wearing something tight fitting and so she was a little surprised at how blake seemed to like it so much...but flattered nonetheless.
if anyone could hear her thoughts heck would they laugh and roll her eyes are her naivety, stupidity even when it came to guys. but she didn't really talk to many people about how she felt when it came to guys, and what she thought about them. she found it a little awkward talking to friends about guys, she was rather private and so she didn't like to put her private life out there - especially with the amount of girls bragging about how many guys they've slept with and all and alarica had nothing to add to the table in that respect. still, she knew that some guys could be dicks, and a few girls here or there had tittered when she'd mentioned how sweet blake was to her, but she didn't understand the laughter and brushed it off. she had happened to have heard a few rumours...but she didn't really believe them, and besides she knew some people had pasts, especially older guys...it didn't matter to her, he was with her now and he was so sweet.
she hated how much she blushed, it made her feel so childish and immature. every time he gave her a compliment or looked at her in that way or kissed her... she blushed bright red, painfully obvious to everyone, and unable to hide. with him being older than her she wanted to be more mature, she wanted to be what he wanted, not as in completely change herself, she didn't do that...but at the very least she wish she didn't blush at everything all the time. she couldn't help but tell him how dashing he looked, definitely more handsome than any of the guys around them right now, whether he thought so too or not...maybe not, he always seemed so modest. "i still think you've got me beat," she grinned and a faint blush adorned her cheeks - of course - though thankfully it was only a soft rose pink rather than beetroot red. she smiled as he offered his arm instead and she took it without hesitation, drawing close to him and moving into the hall at his side.
she followed him onto the dance floor and made to wind her arms around his neck gently as his hands went to her waist. "merry christmas, ally," she smiled at his use of her nickname and kissed him back gently, revelling in the softness of it, in how gentle he was with her. he was so much stronger, if he wanted to he could hurt her so much, emotionally, physically.. and yet he hadn't, and she didn't think he would either. "merry christmas to you too," she dared say anything about her feelings, scared of scaring him off, but she thought maybe he knew...maybe he even felt the same. she heard the music start up and she glanced at him. "might i have this dance?" laughing gently she nodded, "of course... you may have as many as you like." she said lightly, grinning and going to move with him in time with the music.. feeling as though this was right out of a fairy tail and for once...she was the princess with her prince charming, and happily ever after...

[style=text-align: center] tonight is the night [/style][style=font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; padding: 25px; margin-top: -10px; color: CCCCCC;]in girls, blake had two specific 'types', depending on the sort of fun he wanted to have with them. of course, in the end the fun always boiled down to the same thing, but what preceded that was specific to each type. first there were the girls like him. the gorgeous ones with the best bodies, the ones that wanted the same 'no strings attached' heated moments in empty classrooms and darkened hallways. they were essentially his friends with benefits, and the eighteen year old had had a few of them in his last couple of years at hogwarts, most of them in slytherin because they were most similar to him in personality. of course, not everyone in the other houses were pathetic muggle lovers, a good example being alarica's own cousin, chasity. now she was a girl blake enjoyed the company of... though she had backed off since she realized what sort of games he was playing with her cousin. he had heard her ranting about alarica and steve plenty of times, despite their bloodline, and she didn't want to mess with any 'plans' blake had for alarica because she supported them completely.
the second type was, obviously, what he was associating with now. innocent, naive, way too trusting for their own good. c'mon, who could resist shattering such an innocent point of view, introducing someone to the fact that, hey, you can't always be gullible. cuteness does not make the world better. you're going to get your heart broken. while it was the physical part of things that he enjoyed with the colder girls, it was the psychological part of his game that he enjoyed most with girls like alarica. the end physical result was just an added bonus, the cherry on top of the cupcake if you would. he'd played this game with a few girls before, including a pretty witch who'd attended durmstrang that he'd met this past summer, needing to blow off some steam after this fiasco with his father, but he had to admit that none of the 'specimens' he'd played the game with before had fit in to what he wanted as perfectly as alarica. there was just something about her that was... well, perfect to what he wanted. he'd almost be sad when the game ended.
the moment she gave him permission he pulled the two of them into motion, gently leading her through the steps of the dance, which he knew well. his family was a high-class one, this wasn't the first ball he'd ever attended, though it was the first he'd attended by his choice and not just because it would 'look good' or because his father bribed him to attend. the steps came as naturally to him as his little game with alarica did. "choose your words carefully," he teased with a small grin, "or i might not let you out of my sight until dawn." he did not intend to be the possessive boyfriend here. if one of her friends wanted to have a dance with her, be they male or female, he would happily allow it. he was confident enough that the redhead was wrapped around his finger tightly enough that even some prince charming who swept her off her feet in a dance wouldn't be able to loosen the girl's loyalty to him.
