i detect a hint of chaos , teddy was late... a simple in and out job, nab the guy, come back out, and be home before supper. after all, the wizard they were after, though a fool in his own way, wasn't exactly formidable. he'd attacked a muggle family, yes, but he wasn't a master mind about it. he'd left a trail clear from the crime scene leading straight to him, though the attack had happened in another town entirely. it had been easy to track him. such stupid mistakes indicated that he should be an easy guy to catch, right? if he didn't have the brains to cover his tracks he wouldn't have the brains or courage to fight back when the aurors came for him.
because he'd supposedly been such a mindless criminal, harry had seen little issue in letting his godson go in alone. teddy was no child, he was an experienced auror, though harry was even moreso... and if teddy thought that he could handle this alone, who was harry to deny him a bit of practice? who knew, maybe someday teddy would be taking over for harry once he retired, and he'd need all of the 'practice' he could get if he wanted to achieve that position.
but the longer harry waited outside the apartment building that teddy had disappeared into, the more uneasy he became. if it was as simple a capture as they'd been expecting, simple enough that teddy didn't need harry's aid, he should already be back and they should be joking about the ease of the day's work. the seconds ticked by, though, and not any signs of his 'nephew' appearing. teddy was a capable wizard, more than capable, but it was only natural for harry to be worried. after all, he'd been looking out for the boy since he was a mere infant.
after a while of growing unease, harry gave up on waiting calmly outside and made his way into the apartment building. it was a mainly muggle building as far as he was aware, so he kept his wand stowed away in his pants pocket, underneath the jacket he wore to be hidden from their curious eyes. third floor, second room from the stairwell... he found it easily, but also found that the door was opened and there wasn't a single sound from within. not a good sign... seeing no muggles around he pulled out his wand, holding it at the ready as he pushed open the door. "bloody hell," he hissed, seeing the motionless figure on the floor wearing a familiar outfit. he was the only figure in the room, and so harry quickly pocketed his wand and knelt down beside his godson, "teddy."

ALL YOU ARE IS MEAN
he could hear a voice, footsteps, the sounds close to him yet he couldn't focus on them. the pounding in the back of his head grew stronger as the footsteps got closer to him. he knew he'd have no hope of defending himself right now, which, as an auror, he hated that feeling. he struggled to keep his thoughts in check. he could feel something sticky under his body. he remembered someone had cast a spell, blinding pain then a chorus of stupefy. three people against one, it had been hard to try and fight all of them. he hated to think one of them had come back, he shifted his head slightly, a groan escaping his lips at the movement and he gripped his wand, his eyes opening slightly as he heard someone kneel behind him. the effort of gripping his wand was enough to make him want to slip back into the darkness that had consumed him for he had no idea how long, but he didn't let it, he'd let it when he knew nothing would happen again.
"teddy." he knew the voice, he relaxed slightly, his fingers dropping from the wand, the item dropping to the floor with a soft thunk and he shut his eyes again. "g-guess i'm l-late g-getting b-back?" he said, the words hoarse as he forced them out, a weak chuckle following them. he should have been more careful, he assumed the guy would be alone, he'd been an idiot up till now, leaving clear tracks, making mistakes, now teddy had to assume it had been a trap , or he was just a lackey for some smarter fools who'd wanted him to get caught. he'd supposed to have been in and out, nab the guy, get back to his uncle and then go back to the office to call it a day.
he tried to shift, wincing as the pain ran down his side, he shuddered slightly. "m-moving . . b-bad" he muttered to himself, his head was clearing, though he didn't know if it was a blessing or a curse, on one hand, he was becoming more lucid, on the other he was feeling what had happened to it, and clear headed enough to want to sink into the floor or figure out how to go back in time and change it. he shook his head slightly, his eyes opening, he forced his head to turn, his eye scanning the building slightly, his gaze slightly foggy as he glanced toward the man he called his uncle. "i-it w-wasn't just h-him . . " he said, his eyes closing again, he was getting light headed, loosing red as it seeped into the floorboards underneath him. he managed a weak grin, a flicker of humor behind his eyes. "h-had some g-good t-times . . " trying to lighten what had happened up, though he knew it was bad. he wasn't that much of a fool.

i detect a hint of chaos , harry couldn't help but be protective of his godson. after all, the guy had been in his 'care' since shortly after his birth. his parents dead, even if teddy hadn't lived with him as his godparent harry had always felt a certain level of responsibility. he had two sons of his own, but he could pretty much count teddy as another, and knew that his kids pretty much considered teddy one of the family even though he wasn't blood related to them in any way. so harry was protective of teddy as he would be to any of his children... even though he probably shouldn't be. teddy wasn't some young teenager any more. he was capable of taking care of himself, so harry was slowly giving him a bit more slack in work, letting him venture out and do things alone a bit more... apparently today letting him go in alone had been a very bad move, or maybe just very bad timing.
"g-guess i'm l-late g-getting b-back?" at least the boy was awake enough to make his little jokes, and harry rewarded his consciousness with a slight grin of his own, though it was one that quickly faded with concern. "just by a minute or two," he replied while the small grin was still in place, though truthfully he'd been late for far longer, probably passed out on the floor. the guy was lucky that he hadn't been killed.
"m-moving . . b-bad" yeah, harry was supposed to be the mature one. his days of teenage running around with ron and hermione, making all of the jokes and poking fun at scenarios were long over, but he still couldn't resist a slight laugh, even though the shudder that ran up teddy's body, a clear indication of pain, made him feel sick because the sufferer was someone he knew so well. "gee, you think?" he scanned his eyes over the younger auror's body, noting the red stain seeping out from underneath him, though he couldn't pinpoint the exact injury. probably his head... harry didn't want to move him to see if that were the case.
"h-had some g-good t-times . . " the potter father rolled his eyes, making a mental note to hit teddy on the back of the head for the pitiful joke at a later time. "oh no, you're not getting out of an extra safety lecture that easily." he pocketed his godson's wand from where it lay on the floor, not trusting teddy in his current state to be able to keep a hold of it. "we're going to get you to st.mungo's so that you can get fixed up. plenty of time to be lectured lying in a hospital bed."

"just by a minute or two," teddy nodded slightly. glad his uncle was coming back with a joke of his own. he coughed slightly, his head nodding slightly. "g-good . . n-not long e-enough for you t-to w-worry then . . " he said as he rolled his eyes slightly, the spinning motion making him groan and shift.he'd think back on this moment soon as embarrassing, having been hurt, needing help, not being able to defend himself. but right now, he couldn't think like that, just keeping his eyes open was an effort he had to fight for, but he was, and he would. "you g-gotta b-be getting s-sick of s-saving my l-life . . " he said with a slight grin again, referring to the time he'd fallen through the lake covered in ice and harry had pulled him out, he still remembered it clear, and for some reason large bodies of water still terrified him.
"gee, you think?" teddy grinned slightly. "y-yeah . . i t-think" he said as he shifted slightly, trying to ignore how it felt and he forcd his arm to straighten slightly, hoping he'd be able to get up and walk this off. though in the back of his head he knew he wouldnt, the front of his head was full of stubborn and he wanted to walk away from this unscathed. he swallowed slightly, moving to sit up on one elbow and he shut his eyes. "a-air's k-kinda thin t-this h-high up" he joked slightly, coughing as he opened his eyes and loooked up at his uncle, feeling four years old again. he shookhsi head slightly and groaned. "oh no, you're not getting out of an extra safety lecture that easily." teddy shook his head. "k-kill me now . . " he mumbled, he hated peple talking about that kinda thing. mostly saftey was just common sense.
he watched as harry grabbed his wand and he coudnt help but frown. he knew his uncle wasnt going to do anything, but without the wand he was probably 100 % unable to defend himself if something else did go down. he was an auror, he liked having the only thing that could save him. "we're going to get you to st.mungo's so that you can get fixed up. plenty of time to be lectured lying in a hospital bed." he shook his head slightly. he wanted to go home, he wanted to sleep. he didn't want to have to go to saint mungo's. "c-cant i j-just go home?" he said, his voice mumbling. he already knew the answer to it. but the twenty three year old had to say what he thought.

i detect a hint of chaos , "g-good . . n-not long e-enough for you t-to w-worry then . . " harry rolled his eyes, but found himself grinning despite the relative seriousness of the situation. he should have come in sooner, but he’d wanted to give teddy a chance to prove himself… after all, sure the kid was pretty much a son to him, however little their age difference when compared to harry’s actual children, but harry didn’t want to smother the guy. he couldn’t help being protective, but he didn’t want to be so protective that teddy completely hate him. "you g-gotta b-be getting s-sick of s-saving my l-life . . " the scenario teddy was describing was clear in harry’s head. if he’d fallen too far below the ice or had been stuck underneath it, harry wouldn’t have been able to reach him… luckily magic was a huge aide in such situations, and a quick spell or two had cut and melted the ice, letting him dive into the water and pull his ‘nephew’ out. no damage, no need to worry about it, right? ”kinda,” he smirked, of course not at all serious. ”you’d better be careful. next time I might decide it’s just not worth it and suffer the fury of victoire.”
the head auror looked over his godson carefully, trying to guage the damage and see if it would be safe to move him. apparition would be the quickest way to get him to st. mungo’s and therefore safety, but then he had to make sure that teddy didn’t have any back damage or anything like that, because moving him in that state would only make his injuries worse. teddy was unsteady as it was, as obvious from his reaction when he moved upwards ever so slightly. "a-air's k-kinda thin t-this h-high up" harry just chuckled, rolling his eyes once more at the rather pitiful joke. their banter was fun and all, but he really needed to get teddy to proper help. he was strong enough to joke around, but who knew the real extent of his injuries and how long that strength would last. "k-kill me now . . " that harry couldn’t resist replying to. he knew anyone would hate such things, but they were necessary. ”and lose the pleasure of personally being there for your torture? never.”
"c-cant i j-just go home?" of course the answer to that was obvious. harry would be a terrible boss and an even worse godfather if he just let teddy return home in the state he was in. not only would his own wife kill him, he could expect furious repercussions from victoire and the rest of their family who doted upon teddy, as well. he was one of the family, even if he wasn’t related to the weasley/potter clan through blood, and any damage inflicted upon him could be expected to be taken personally by everyone in the family, too. ”you need to get checked out, teddy. maybe you'll be home by evening. can't you manage that?" deciding that it was safe to move the younger auror he moved his hand gently underneath his back, making him sit up slightly. "can you stand? lean on me as much as you need."

YOUR NOT DONE, YOUR FAR TOO YOUNG AND THE BEST IS YET TO COME
”and lose the pleasure of personally being there for your torture? never.” teddy rolled his eyes slightly. he wouldnt expect anything less of his uncle. "figures . . " he coughed as he shifted a bit, his eyes closing for a second as he thought of vic, the only thing he saw for certain in his future was her. and he didnt want anything to try and change that. nor would he let her, they'd bave to be married first. he grinned slightly at the thought and opened his eyes to look at harry. ”you need to get checked out, teddy. maybe you'll be home by evening. can't you manage that?" teddy hated hospitals, muggle and wizard alike. they stank, they were too white, the nurses wore fake smiles, needles freaked him out when he'd had to have them, the squeaky shoes on the spotless floors drove him crazy to no end. but still, it wasn't like he was in any shape to fight not going, he'd been hit with god knows what spells, he wasnt an idiot, he knew he had to get checked out but the thought of going bugged him. he'd much rather be curled up at home with vic and the dog he'd named 'lupus' curled up at his feet, some soup, some TV, maybe a little quailty time with vic, but still. he groaned and nodded slightly. "you'be b-better be right . . " he mumbled, the thought of staying overnight made him shudder.
"can you stand? lean on me as much as you need." he rolled his eyes to look up at his uncle, even sitting up slightly onhis elbows was enough to make him light headed, standing would be a whole other issue. he knew e'd have to cross it at some point, but he was willing to take it one step at a time. the hand his uncle placed on his back was both a comfort and help, no matter how old you were, when you were hurt or ill, it was always nice to know someone was there watching over you, it was just the way it was. family helped no matter what, no matter how mad, or frustrated you were with them, they still helped. he nodded his head slightly. "standing m-might be a s-stretch . . but lets t-try sitting up" he said as he pressed one hand into the floor and used the other to brace himself on his uncle's shoulder and he made to pull himself into a sitting up position, he winced as the pain jolted through him, paled as his blood ran from his face and shut his eyes when his head spin made him nauseous.
taking a deep shuddering breath, teddy managed to get his feet underneath him and he forced himself to his feet, every fibre of his body telling him to sit back down as he gripped onto a table that sat a few feet away and he looked at harry. "e-easy as right" the grip on his uncle's shoulder was still tight, needing the support right at this very second. "okay . .s-saint mungo's then . . we d-don't go now . . i wont be a-at all" he said as he closed his eyes and thought of the place he wanted to go, focused on the entrance, it would take a great deal of concentration, but he thought he had it in him. he nodded slightly, made to spin slightly on the one foot and was pulled into the vortex he'd created and spun dizzyingly through. he managed to land on his feet, only just as they arrived at the doors to mungo's. teddy made one glance at harry, gave a slight grin of triumph, and then his knee's buckled, taking him into the oily black abyss as he fell.
