theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: THE AMAZING TRIO OUTFIT: SEE ABOVE ONE LAST THING: N/A
The view of the sunset from the clock tower was amazing. That was the simple thought running through Jaycen's head as he leaned over the railing, staring at the vivid array of pink and orange painting the sky over the green and blue of the scenery on the ground. Sure, the image might not be as perfect as it was in spring when there was no hint of frost bitten ground and lush abundants of flowers everywhere, but it was still a damn magnificent sight. People might be surprised to see the Ravenclaw champion and head boy up here instead of in the commons area, or on a patrol, after the supper meal was done, but he had used to come up here all of the time with Molly and Layla. This year... he hadn't had much time. Things had become swept away pretty fast, what with his head boy status and then becoming champion... his evenings had begun to be filled with filling in for patrols for younger students, and scanning his eyes over endless books in the library for what might be useful in upcoming tasks, or Quidditch practices. But, with three days before the first task, Quidditch was on hold, younger prefects were taking on Jaycen's patrols instead of the other way around, and he'd decided that either he knew what was needed to succeed in the first task, or he didn't. It was out of his hands now, and it was high time that the Irish boy spent some time with people he'd felt had been far too neglected in the last few months.
Molly Weasley had been pretty much his best friend since they entered the school and had the joy of being placed in the same house together. When they met Layla Bailey, a year younger than they, in their second year, the three almost instantly became inseparable, and had been ever since. Despite multiple rumors that had plagued them since the other students became old enough to know what girlfriends and boyfriends were, Jaycen thought of both girls like the sisters he never had. They knew about all of his issues. The constant fights with his blood purist dad, his bitchy- or, er, former bitchy, enemy, Raychel Entwhistle, his memory, his fears, his dreams... there were very few people that Jaycen trusted as he did his best friends, so it was absolutely unforgivable, in his humble opinion, that he'd been neglecting them this year. Sure, he'd talk with them. On those classes he had together with either he'd laugh and partner up if they wanted. He'd walk with them to their classes, and chat with them at the tables at meals, but much of the time his mind had been elsewhere. He had a lot of things on his plate this year, his stupid fault for volunteering, he supposed, and it was taking him a while to adjust. But that was no damn reason for leaving behind the two most important girls in his life.
That was why, that night at supper, he'd asked them to meet him up at the Clock Tower. To hang out, like they'd done so often in the past few years but had barely seemed to do at all this year. He'd left immediately after delivering the message, being done eating already, and headed up to the clock tower where he was now posed leaning over the rail, back to the stairs. Hopefully they'd give him a bit of slack for being so distant from them thusfar this year, because that was going to change now. No matter how much he had on his plate, this was his last year at Hogwarts and he was going to make the best of it with Molly and Layla.

She wasn't surprised to see that Jaycen wasn't anywhere near them. It was as if he lived on a completely different planets these days and the trio had downsized to just a pair. As much as she loved Layla, she felt a great sadness to be drifting apart from Jayce. He had been there with her since her first year, she figured they would spend their last year together. But Head Boy duties, being a Champion and on the Quidditch Team seemed like a bigger priority to him.
Just as Molly was to take a spoonful of her mashed potatoes, she felt someone tap her shoulder. She and Layla both stopped their eating and turned around at the same time. Jaycen was right there. They had been asked to meet him at the Clock Tower after dinner. Molly agreed to meet him there and quickly finished her food. Once Layla was done as well, the two girls slowly made their way to the designated meeting place. Was he about to dump him as his best friends? Oh hell no, Molly would push him off the tower if he even dared to think of it, though she was pretty damn sure that's not what he was planning on doing to them.
Before Jaycen had walked up to them at dinner, Molly and Layla had been discussing plans to stay in the common room all night, kind of like a girls' night. Since Lay was one year younger, she and Molly weren't in the same dorm and every now and then, the two would just bring their blankets down from their dorms and just lay in front of the fireplace talking all night. In fact, it was what Molly looked forward to every month. She was dreading her final year at Hogwarts, but she had to accept the fact that Layla would be left behind in a few months. Of course, Molls planned on writing to her every single day if possible. For now, she would try to spend as much time with her as possible, however, balancing her time with Layla and Elijah was hard. Elijah would be left behind at Hogwarts too, but Molly wasn't ready to accept that just yet.
"Layla," Molly was kept on going with their earlier conversation about their girl' night. "I think... we should invite Jaycen to our slumber party."
Yeah, she called it a slumber party, though the two never really slept and just stayed up all night laughing and talking. For years it had been their thing and even though Jayce had dropped out of the picture, she was ready to accept him back into their little circle in a heart beat. |

can we PRETEND that airplanes in the NIGHT sky are like shooting STARS
i could REALLY use a wish right now, WISH right now, wish right NOWShe had been sitting at the table with Molly, eating her dinner not really paying attention to what was going on. Her mind was on different things, so she hadn’t really noticed that Jaycen was nowhere to be found, again. If she was honest with herself, she had noticed but it had been such a common trend since their return to Hogwarts this year that Layla found herself wondering where the male counterpart of their trip was. Not that she didn’t love spending time with Molly, she did, but they were supposed to be a trio not a duo. The girls had discussed details about their sleeping in the common room that night, it was something they both did, about once a month, given that they didn’t share a dorm. She was taking a drink of her pumpkin juice as she noticed who was behind Molly and she about spit out the juice. There was their best friend, and he was asking them to meet him at the clock tower. She nodded, obviously curious if they were going to get an explanation to his absence lately. So she finished her food as quickly as Molly did so that they could both meet Jayce to see what on earth was going on.
If anything Layla wanted to know why it was he had been basically avoiding the two girls, after all they were the best of friends and it wasn’t at all normal of him. The three had been like peanut butter and jelly since Layla had first started school, and she knew that the two seventh years had been friends before her arrival. She was an addition, and now it was just weird to think that they would both leave her at the end of the year. It was one of the reasons she wanted to make sure that everything was okay with him, she didn’t want to lose her best friend. It was early enough in the year that they could still remain thick as thieves until they both graduated and left her. It was a sad thought, because she wasn’t sure what she would do without her two best friends but it was bound to happen. As the two girls walked, Molly said that they should include Jayce in their idea of the sleepover. She nodded because it was something she had been thinking about as well. Given that he was not allowed in neither of their dorms, and Layla had no desire to sleep in the boy’s dormitory, the common room would be best. It was the only way she and Molly got to sleep in the same room given that she shared a room with the rest of the sixth years and Molly shared a room with the seventh years. They could catch up, talk and not really worry about the idea of sleep even if they had classes the next day. Plus it wasn’t like the trio didn’t need bonding time, they did, and well this would be the perfect opportunity for them, even if they had no idea what on earth Jayce was going to tell them. It took her a minute to realize they had arrived at their designated spot, and she could see her best friend.
“Jayce?” she asked as she looked at him.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: THE AMAZING TRIO OUTFIT: SEE ABOVE ONE LAST THING: N/A
What if they didn’t show? What if they decided ‘screw him’ and wrote him off entirely? He couldn’t say he’d be able to blame them… while not really having been horrible to them, the silence on his part had been horrible enough over the last few months. But even if they could understand his reasoning, he’d be lying to say it wouldn’t suck. After all, the two girls were his best friends, like sisters to him. You couldn’t just shrug off losing a friendship, however much it had been deteriorating throughout the year. Still, the paranoia that they might blow him off gnawed at his skin and grew with every passing second… it wasn’t a pleasant feeling.
He tried to focus on other things as he stared out at the sunset. Anything else, really. Like… Quidditch? The tournament? Being head boy? Raychel? Chun? Yeah, Chun seemed like the best option to be plucked out of thin air. He had enough stress from the tournament without thinking about it on a good time to relax. Quidditch could wait in the backgrounds of his mind. Being head boy didn’t provide much to think about, and that other option shouldn’t even have crossed his mind to begin with.
So… Chun Au-Yong. Okay, maybe not the best place to let his mind wander, but it wasn’t her that made him upset about that scenario. She was a genuinely nice girl, even if Jayce had serious issues with what her house stood for he had no reason to dislike her. It wasn’t her fault that, in their parent’s humble opinions, they were supposed to be happily married. A betrothal. How purely medieval. If Layla and Molly gave him a chance to open his mouth before beating the hell out of him for abandoning them, he was sure they’d find it at least slightly amusing. He made a mental note to put that on the list of things to talk about once he’d gotten all of his apologies done with.
As soon as that thought crossed his mind he heard the unmistakable voice of Layla, the youngest of the trio, behind him. Proudly having the self control to not jump from surprise, though he wanted to, the head boy turned with a sheepish sort of smile on his lips. “Um… hey.” Already he could feel the awkwardness setting in, threatening to smother him, and had the thought that even if there were dragons at the task in three days time, as long as he could survive this he would ace that. Dragons could be nothing compared to this awkwardness.
So he’d imagined how he could talk to them. Every scenario had flitted through his mind since he’d first realized how terribly neglecting he’d been of his ‘best buds’ and how pissed off that might make them. The scenarios had ranged from Layla and Molly welcoming him back immediately, acting like he’d never been distant in the first place, to a very angry red-head shoving him off of the tower to the ground hundreds of feet below. Yeah, he definitely hoped that this went more in the range of that first scenario. But he knew he had to say something. He couldn’t just jump into one of their typical conversations without recognizing what an asshole he’d been recently, whether intentionally or not. “Listen… guys, I’m sorry. I’ve been a complete ass, too easily distracted with everything else, but that’s no excuse for leaving you guys behind… forgive me?”
