[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 505px; -moz-border-radius: 0 185 185 0px;background-color: #062B43;] you cast a spell on me, spell on me----------------------------- you hit me like the sky fell on me, fell on me September was the only month of the year that seemed to have actually taken a month to pass. it had dragged on with the usual back-to-school blues mixed with the anticipation that every seventh year student probably felt. once the end of that month rolled around, however, and his name was called out from the cup, the months had kinda seemed to blend into one. don’t get him wrong, jaycen enjoyed it. he was never bored, he could never claim to have nothing to do, and it kept his last year interesting, but at the same time he had to mourn how much time had just randomly disappeared. hell, the christmas break was only two days away and- aw, crap.
one good thing about the yule ball was that it gave him an excuse to stay at hogwarts. he was not in the mood to return to his father for christmas and hear the man rant and rave about the tournament and the tasks and how jaycen and his partner as the only completely pureblood team should do purebloods proud and all of that utter crap he’d been spoon fed since childhood. nor did he want to sit and sigh through the fights that were almost sure to erupt when he couldn’t control his opinions anymore and told his father to shut up. with the yule ball, he had to stay at hogwarts. he had no choice. it was tradition for the champions to start off the ball, and he couldn’t very well do that if he were at the family’s main home in Ireland, could he?
one very, very bad thing about the yule ball? the yule ball. as observed many times, jayce was not the type of guy who enjoyed dancing. most guys, in his theory, very much disliked dancing, but a few put up with it if they had a girlfriend or something of the sort, which was a group of ‘men’ that did not include the head boy. he tried not to even think about starting off the ball, or even dancing without eyes on him, which was why he also didn’t have a partner at this point in time. he’d considered just asking Claire, knowing that there wouldn’t be any awkwardness going on there, just to have a ‘date’, but professor swanpeoele had quickly made it clear that that would not be acceptable in her eyes. apparently jaycen was not going to cheat his house out of a representation at the ball by just partnering up with his, well, partner.
at this point in time he was sitting in the ravenclaw commons room, cursing the fact that his two best friends were so attractive (yeah, they were his best friends, he could admit that without actually attraction being involved) and each already had partners. well, he assumed they did, anyways. layla he knew had a partner of some slytherin guy that jaycen didn’t know too well, a new flame of hers, and it would be foolish to think that molly would attend the ball (if she were attending at all) with anyone but Elijah. if either of the two girls had been freed for a partner he would have snapped them up in an instant. then, other than them, there were so few girls he would actually be one hundred percent comfortable around for the evening…
somewhere along in his thinking, which strayed to many other topics than the yule ball but always seemed to come back to the dilemma that he was losing time to solve, the commons room had started to thin out. the younger students headed off to bed, eventually followed by the majority of the older students, and pretty soon it was only a group of sixth and seventh years in the corner and jaycen sitting by the fire in a chair, legs stretched out on the table in the middle of a small sitting area, his gaze directed at the flickering flames. maybe he should just draw a name from a hat or something… |

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | The head girl drummed her fingers against the book on her bed. It was providing no decent answer for her, nor did it help with the essay topic at hand. Why did she think it would be good in the first place? Yet she kept reading it, hoping...praying something would jump out at her and she could start her charms essay. Her hope was fading with each page she turned. Shifting on her bed, she rolled onto her stomach and lazily kicked her feet back and forth in the air. Although the book proved to be useless for her essay, it indeed proved to be a rather interesting read; perhaps that was the Ravenclaw within.
What was the time, maybe she had a few minutes to duck down to the library, hand the book back and find something that would help her. But that meant she had to move from her comfortable position. A sigh escaped her lips as she forced herself up off the bed. Looking down at herself, she adjusted her robes which had become askew from her tossing and turning on the bed and her hair was simply a mess. Combing her fingers through the golden curls, she managed to smooth it out to look somewhat decent. Swiping the book up from her bed, she headed out, ignoring those in the common room. Raychel simply didn’t have time to stand around and talk at the moment; she needed to get to the library.
She managed to get there five minutes before the doors shut. She knew she had to hurry and it didn’t help that the librarian kept informing everyone the library was closing shortly. Heading to the charms section of the library after handing the book to the librarian, hoping it would shut her up for a few minutes. Where to start, she wondered as he eyes scanned over the book titles. In the end she picked few random books out, gave the contents page a quick look before deciding that the books would have to do.
The blonde Ravenclaw was positively glad that she didn’t have any patrols to do tonight. She wanted to get the essay finished as quickly as she could. It didn’t have to be handed in until next week, but the blonde was always prepared for those 'last minute' assignments the professors liked to dish out to them.
The corridors were almost empty, just a few stragglers here and there. "Its nearly curfew, please head to your common rooms," she called out to them in a pleasant tone. She watched as a group of Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors exchanged their goodbyes before turning and doing as she said. Ah gotta love the power, she smiled to herself. Oh she wasn’t one to abuse said power, it just felt good, to know others actually listened to her and done as she asked.
Trudging up the stairs with 3 heavy charms books was hard work, she forgot to bring a bag with her, although she didn’t expect to grab so many, nor did she expect them to be heavy, so by the time she reached the Ravenclaw common room, she saw no one else in the corridors. Answering the question the bronze eagle knocker asked her, she entered the blue and bronze decorated common room. A fire was roaring in the fireplace, although she knew it wouldn’t take long for the neglected fire to soon smoulder before being completely extinguished. There weren’t many people in the common room and she figured it would be best to work down here instead of keeping the other girls awake. Heading over to the comfy chairs in front of the fire. Placing her books down on the table, she looked up and almost jumped. What the hell was the head boy doing in the near empty common room?

the rustle of clothing was the first indicator that there was a new person in the commons room. well, of course it could have been one of the group in the corner, but there was no reason for any of them to come over to speak to the head boy. he knew all of those student’s names, but wasn’t familiar with any of them on a personal level that would make them comfortable enough to speak to each other randomly in the commons room in the middle of the night. regardless, jaycen sat still, not moving an inch and keeping his eyes fixed on the flickering and dwindling flames. he knew there was someone nearby, but if they wanted to talk to them they would have to be the first to say a word…
he changed his mind when he heard the ‘thunk’ of books hitting a table. if someone was approaching another for a simple conversation, they weren’t likely to randomly carry along books with them for the encounter, so out of curiosity the head boy shifted his gaze to the newcomer, eyes widening slightly when he saw who it was. since their meeting in the prefect’s bathroom, way back when, raychel had been on his mind a lot more than he might have liked… not that he really talked to her yet. he at least refrained from the glares and smug smirks he may have formerly delivered her way on a daily basis, but he felt a long way off from being ‘bffs’. at least politeness was something though, right? he felt they were getting along, and a few weeks of pleasantries was definitely better than the many years of hatred.
letting his feet fall from the coffee table he sat up straighter, letting his eeys wander to the stack of books she’d placed on the table. books in a ravenclaw room meant little, really. the house, stereotypically, was filled with bookworms ‘waiting in line’ to read the latest novel by their favorite author. jaycen himself enjoyed a good read now and then… but three books all at once? in jayce’s opinion that could only mean a bookworm with a lot of time on their hands, which he was sure raychel was not (as far as the time thing went, at least, her being involved in quidditch and clubs and prefects…), or it was schoolwork. once that observation was made he was hardly surprised when he spoke without thinking, teasing her, “last minute assignment, raychel?” at least, he wasn’t surprised until her realized the playful sort of tone the words had came out in- then he was quite dumbfounded.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | Raychel couldn’t help but watch him for a few minutes. He seemed rather...stiff like. Had something happened? Wait what was she thinking, nothing bad ever seemed to happen to the head boy, maybe she caught him off guard, perhaps he was just deep in thought. Maybe writing the essay out in the common room wasn’t such a good idea. She didn’t want to annoy Jaycen, not after their ever growing friendliness towards each other. Ok friendliness wasn’t the right word, but they were getting along better, no constant bickering and definitely no heated glares. Although they didn’t really spend much time near each other after the whole prefect's bathroom incident, the times they were forced together were far more pleasant than before. She quiet enjoyed the new Jaycen and loved the fact that she didn’t have to waste pointless energy arguing with someone over something petty.
She was about to pick up the books again when he moved his feet off the table. Ah such a gent... she forced herself not to continue that train of thought. This was still Jaycen, just because they made a truce didn’t mean the past six years were forgiven. Pft he'd have to do a lot more than that for her to completely forgive him and she figured she was the same. She had dished out insults and glares just as much as he did. It wouldn’t be fair to expect someone to work at forgiveness and not the other.
Even his voice was more playful and warmer, nothing like the cold bitter tone he used before. He chuckled, last minute assignment, did he really think she'd let her school work lapse like that? If she did she'd kick herself off the quidditch team just to be able to bring her grades back up, of course she hoped she never had to do so. "Actually I’m getting a head start on the charms essay, figured I’d get that out of the way before the professors decide to spring those last minute assignments on us. Not to mention it’ll give me spare time later when everyone is doing their essays for quidditch practice or some other things," she spoke as she moved around the spare chair and took a seat. Hey he started the conversation, to her it was an invitation to sit down. "I doubt these books would have still been in the library by tomorrow night," she shrugged.
The head girl sunk into the comfy chair, letting the warmth of the fire soak into her pores. It was so relaxing sitting by a fire, listening to it whilst smelling the wood burn...so why did Jaycen seem tense. She glanced at her head counterpart and studied him. He didn’t seem so tense now, but there was something there, she just couldn’t figure out what. "Are you alright, you seem...tense?" she asked, wondering if tense was the word she should have used. Maybe she could have used a word like disturbed...no he didn’t look disturbed, worried maybe, argh it was too late at night to shift through her mind just to find the right word.

"actually i’m getting a head start on the charms essay, figured i’d get that out of the way before the professors decide to spring those last minute assignments on us. not to mention it’ll give me spare time later when everyone is doing their essays for quidditch practice or some other things," the christmas break and freedom were so close jaycen could almost taste it... why worry about essays? yeah, he was a ravenclaw, and yeah, he was actually a pretty great student, but like any other teenager he had those times in his life when he just wanted to say 'screw it' to all assignments teachers passed off on he and his peers. days before holidays were definitely among that. he kind of admired raychel's work ethic, but around holidays he thought her line of thinking bordered on 'insane'. "I doubt these books would have still been in the library by tomorrow night," he leaned forward, picking the top book off of the stack on the table and turned it over to read the front. "ah, yes," he nodded wisely, a slight smirk on his lips. "i'm sure 'an anthology of eighteenth century charms' is in high demand at the moment."
he had to wonder... how many times did raychel really relax? other than when she was with her best friend, of course. he couldn't claim to know her well or to pay attention to her so often that he knew what she was like most of the time, but it seemed to him that every time he saw her she was wound up with whatever she had to do. prefect duties, focusing on quidditch, homework, or, of course, yelling at him. he probably didn't see her at the best points of her day, usually, but he just couldn't envision raychel ever really relaxing and just enjoying herself among large groups of people. if she stayed over christmas holidays and there were parties in the commons room, or the room of requirement, he couldn't imagine her attending. he couldn't even imagine her at a ball- ...
"are you alright, you seem...tense?" what was with the two of them and suddenly being worried about each other? well, worried probably wasn't the right word, in raychel's case. probably just 'curious', but when he'd seen her crying in the bathroom he'd been worried... being on truces messed with people's minds. "yeah, i'm fine." he answered quickly, automatically. "just... thinking."
he looked away from her immediately after speaking, glancing at the group in the corner and found himself speaking while looking in that direction, trying to keep his tone casual. "are you staying at the castle for christmas break?" |

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | The crackling of the fire and the whispering of the remaining students in the corner of the common room was all she could here. It set the perfect mood for relaxing, to put her feet up and not have a care in the world. And she would have done just that, she would have moved the books off the table, moved the table in front of her and propped her feet up on it. She would have gotten comfy and begun reading one of the books until she fell asleep in the chair. Merlin knows how many times she had done it in the past, only to be woken up by the idle chatter of people coming of the dorms the next morning. There was a couple of times she found a blanket had been thrown over her, but she always assumed it had been Izzy that done it and never questioned it. But doing so hardly seemed right at the moment.
Was he making fun of one of the books she had gotten? She wanted to tell him off about it, saying that there were many useful yet almost forgotten spells in there but decided against it. He would be the sorry one when he looked at their essay topic; yes Raychel felt she would have the last laugh. She glanced at him as silence fell again. She couldn’t help but study him, the light of the fire flickering on his skin and hair, made seen ethereal and handsome. It was just the trick of the light, she scolded herself before turning back to the fire, angry with herself for thinking that. Just because there was a truce between them, did not mean that she had to take it that far. At most they may become friends, she told herself nothing more. It was a absurd thought, one that should never have formed in her mind. Well ok she could think he was handsome, she wouldn’t deny him that, but that was all.
The silence was broken when he replied to her question. He must be thinking really hard on whatever was on his mind, not that she had a right to pry into his life. That was saved for friends and family, which she was neither. The familiar lull of silence came over them again. Jaycen didn’t seem to want to talk much, maybe he just wanted silent company. Well she could provide that. The head girl was about to reach one of her books when he spoke up, asking if she was staying at Hogwarts during Christmas. She noted that the group in the corner of the common room had grown quiet, almost as if they were listening in to their conversation and was waiting for her answer. Why would Jaycen ask such a question anyways? "Yea, after Izzy found herself a date for the Yule Ball, I figured why not stay, gotta make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid, but then I guess she already has by agreeing to go on a blind date for the ball. Besides it'll be the last Christmas we have here."

"Yea, after Izzy found herself a date for the Yule Ball, I figured why not stay, gotta make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid, but then I guess she already has by agreeing to go on a blind date for the ball. Besides it'll be the last Christmas we have here." isabella ackerly had a date? jaycen felt bad for being so, but he was surprised. he didn't know isabella too well, but she didn't exactly seem like the social butterfly type that would easily get herself dates for big social events like the yule ball. not that she was incapable of getting a date, but... he would have expected raychel to get a date far before her best friend at the least. from the way raychel was talking, however, it didn't seem that she had any ties to the yule ball herself.
"yeah, i know what you mean. the last six christmas' have passed in the blink of an eye, along with the years that surrounded them." truthfully jaycen would be pretty upset to leave hogwarts. the place had pretty much been his much anticipated home for especially the last two or three years... maybe he'd come back in future years for quidditch games, or maybe tournaments if hogwarts held another one. he didn't think he'd be able to leave the school behind entirely, but then again, he couldn't tell what he would want to do in the future.
"so, you don't have a date yourself?" he probably should stop being surprised by the stupid, impulsive sentences that flew from his mouth, the ones that he wasn't even aware were about to be spoken until he actually heard them. why should he care if she had a date or not? the head boy found himself stumbling over random words, not really aware of what he was saying, as though to distract her from thinking too much into why he'd asked. "i don't think a blind date would be bad for the yule ball. at least you're around other people, so it's not like she could get into any sort of real trouble, right? i mean, people at hogwarts are pretty safe- er..." he thought of the recent fiasco of attacks at the school. "as long as she doesn't immediately go off anywhere alone with a guy she knows nothing about isabella should be fine." |

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | She simply nodded, the past six years have indeed gone too fast, it was like it was only yesterday that she was in her first year getting sorted, time simply flew by. It was hard to imagine what life would be like after Hogwarts, whether everyone would get their dream jobs or if they had to settle for something that wasn’t very self fulfilling? She wondered how everyone would go in their NEWTs and if they would get the scores they needed to get into their chosen field. There was simply so much to think about what would happen near the end of school and after school.
"so, you don't have a date yourself?" Why would Jaycen of all people ask her that question? Was it so that he could gloat that he had a date after finding she didn’t, she didn’t give much thought that he could be fishing for answers cause he wanted to take her. Maybe he was simply making conversation. "Uh no I don't, I’ve had a few third and fourth years ask me, but I kindly turned them down." There were a few reasons why she did so, but the main one was that they were too young and she didn’t want to lead them on in anyway. Better to tell them no upfront than have then hoping something could come out of it. She had been flattered by it, but it just wasn’t her style. He seemed to be trying to cover up the question by turning the topic back onto Izzy and her blind date.
She suppose he was right, it was better to go on a blind date where many people were compared to having a dinner for two at some restaurant. But it wasn’t the where part she was concerned, it was the who. Who in the world would have been able to catch Izzy's eye, and how. If they never met then how...oh the letters, she remembered at the last minute, but still, going on a blind date with someone who wrote nice letters didn’t necessarily mean this guy, whoever his was, was a nice person. Maybe after she met this guy she'd feel more at ease with him dating Izzy. Argh she was sounding like an overprotective parent...or sister. People at Hogwarts were safe, she heard him say, but were they really safe? Sure the professors looked out for them, but she couldn’t help thing of the recent attacks, this school was not safe at all.
"as long as she doesn't immediately go off anywhere alone with a guy she knows nothing about Isabella should be fine." Yes, yes. he was right once more and she would make it her job to keep Izzy where there was plenty of people, she wouldn’t allow her best friend to go off somewhere with mystery man. "What about you, you all set for the Ball, I bet your date's been trying to colour coordinate with you," she chuckled. She knew that many couples liked to dress in the same colour, to her, it showed her that people lacked originality, either that or they simply didn’t have time to find suitable colour for themselves. There was no way she'd get a guy to dress in the same colours she did and if by any chance they wore the same colour well then at least she'd know he had taste.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 505px; -moz-border-radius: 0 185 185 0px;background-color: #062B43;] you cast a spell on me, spell on me----------------------------- you hit me like the sky fell on me, fell on me "Uh no I don't, I’ve had a few third and fourth years ask me, but I kindly turned them down." so... she really didn't have a date? raychel wasn't a real outcast, as far as he could tell, in their year... there should have been plenty of seventh year boys waiting to snatch her up as soon as it was fashionable to arrange dates for the ball which, by the looks of things, most guys (even the ones not in relationships) had been doing for at least a week and a half. and even if someone for some reason didn't want to ask her for the ball for her looks, wouldn't there be some bloodsucking leech (and jaycen felt kinda bad for thinking this) who might try to ask her to the ball simply for the thrill and social power that would come with attending alongside the head girl, one of the most powerful students in the school?
imagining raychel attending the ball with a third or fourth year was kind of amusing... jaycen remembered those awkward years when you felt on top of the world, as though any girl, even the ones older than you, would fall at your feet if you winked at them. he kind of missed the confidence he'd had in those days, but still had to say that he was glad he'd jumped through them quickly and just as glad that raychel had turned those boys down, though he wasn't aware of a reason for himself to feel that way yet. he assumed that most girls would be attending the ball with a guy their age or older than themselves. that was just the culture these days. guys dated their age and younger, girls dated their age and older. he guessed that, no matter who he ended up bringing to the ball, he'd be following those traditional guidelines. he could never see hiimself dating a girl older than him, and as a seventh year student it wasn't as though there were many of those at hogwarts, anyway.
"What about you, you all set for the Ball, I bet your date's been trying to colour coordinate with you," it took a moment for the words to sink in. she thought he already had a date? ha, yeah, not so much... and even if he did, he wouldn't color code. relationships were all about two different people fitting together, right? why mask your individuality and destroy it just to look cool with your date at a ball? he'd much rather he, and his date, get to show off their own styles (though his would likely amount to just a simple tux or set of dress robes) than be a perfectly packaged pair. "wrong," he informed her with a slight shrug, looking over to the flickering fire. "i don't have a date yet... though i should probably find one, or accept a girl's subtle hints that she'd go with me, before professor swanepoele assigns me a date." sadly that was the sort of thing he could easily see the ravenclaw head professor doing to make sure that he didn't embarrass his house.
he fell into silence for a little while as the group in the corner of the room split up, voices growing louder as they said goodbye to each other and separated to head off to their dorm rooms, leaving the head students the only living souls left in the commons room. the awkwardness seemed to increase tenfold, and when combined with downright insane thoughts in the back of jaycen's mind, making observations that both he and raychel were dateless and a few words could fix that for each of them, the head boy was incredibly restless. that thought was insane... he should prefer to go to the ball with chun over her... but the words came out anyway.
"hey, raychel... since you don't have a dat- er, partner to the ball yet, and i don't either... do you want to go with me?" those words seemed to come out calmly enough, but more rushed after as though he had to explain himself. "i mean, er, i don't blame you if you say no, but, er, it'd look good, me going with another ravenclaw seeing as i am the ravenclaw champion, and we are the head students so it'd make sense to the rest of the school..." oh, yes, it would certainly make sense to the rest of the school, but to jaycen nothing was making sense anymore.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | Oh, she thought, how could the head boy and handsome guy, and yes she wouldn’t deny that, still be dateless. Surely there would have been a line up of girls all dying to ask him out. Perhaps they had gotten a severe case of shyness and simply couldn’t ask him, or they did and he turned them down. Oh, she thought again, accept a girl's subtle hints before their head professor assigned him a date. Now she could just imagine that, Professor Swanepoel. "Ah yea, I can only imagine Professor Swanpoel picking out someone young yet smart. She'd probably try and dress you as well, make you take dancing lessons and everything else," she shuddered at the thought of the professor doing that to any student and what made it worse was he was the head boy AND Ravenclaw champion. She needed to get that imagine out of her mind. Turning her gaze to the fire, she wondered just who Professor Swanpoel would chose for him, a moment later she dismissed the thought, surely Jaycen was man enough to find his own date, he didn’t need a professor hounding him about it. Would it have been too lame to say that he'd find one soon...yea it did sound lame in her head and so she kept it too herself; silently wishing him luck in finding a date before the professor took it into her own hands.
Silence once more fell between them. She heard footsteps and the murmurings of goodnights from the group of Ravenclaws. Her eyes glanced to the doorway that led to the girls dorms, watching a couple of girls disappear through it. Then there was silence, the only thing she heard was the crackling of the fire. The sound was lulling her into a sleep. Maybe she ought to head to bed as well, it seemed like all conversation with Jaycen had finished the moment the group of Ravenclaws had up and left. Maybe he was wanting to go to bed as well, she didn’t blame him if he did.
"hey, Raychel... since you don't have a dat- er, partner to the ball yet, and I don't either... do you want to go with me?" She blinked, did she just hear right? Nah she couldn’t possibly have, it was her mind making up things, she was tired, a simple trick of the mind, a what if situation. It was all in her mind; that was until he spoke again saying she didn’t have to say yes. But something within wanted her to say yes to him, something was telling her that she wouldn’t regret it if she did agree.
She began to over analyse what he had said, that it would look good, him going with another Ravenclaw because he was the Ravenclaw champion and because they were head students. It would certainly be a shock to everyone just as much as it was a shock that he had actually asked her. And if she agreed those adorable yet pesky third and fourth years would leave her alone, it was a win/win for them both, but did she really want to tie herself to him for the night, did she really want to go with him, to possibly have fun with him and enjoy his company. Just because they had a truce, didn’t mean he could ask her to the ball, but it was better than having him pick fights with her. "Sure, why not," she replied, finally turning her gaze back to him, "I guess everyone deserves a shock every now and then, it could be...fun."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 505px; -moz-border-radius: 0 185 185 0px;background-color: #062B43;] you cast a spell on me, spell on me----------------------------- you hit me like the sky fell on me, fell on me "Ah yea, I can only imagine Professor Swanpoel picking out someone young yet smart. She'd probably try and dress you as well, make you take dancing lessons and everything else," quite a few things were slightly amusing there. first the implication that jaycen could only attend the ball with someone intelligent, which he wasn't sure if he should take as a compliment or something else. second the idea of the professor going farther than telling him to take a certain person to the ball just to have one there, and to actually try to control his outfit. so sometimes he clearly picked comfort over fashion... so what? he was secure enough about himself to think he could look good in many different outfits and had the sense to know to dress formally and well for a ball. and then there was dancing. oh god, dancing... maybe jaycen had been deluding himself that, if he didn't get a date, he didn't need to know how to dance, and wouldn't have to suffer the embarrassment of learning... but now thanks to his overactive, stupid, impulsive mouth he did have a date and could no longer use not having one as an excuse if he didn't want to make a fool of himself opening up the ball. greeeeat.
"Sure, why not," wait, he was delusional. he was hearing things. had raychel entwhistle actually agreed to attend a ball with him? like... seriously? no sarcasm or snide remarks whatsoever? ...the apocalypse was nigh. that or jaycen was truly insane, thinking crazy thoughts as well as hearing completely implausible words coming out of the blonde haired girl's mouth. "I guess everyone deserves a shock every now and then, it could be...fun." oh yes, everyone would certainly be getting a shock. especially their close friends who knew all the details of their little feuds with each other, and most of all jaycen himself. checking himself into the infirmary really was beginning to look like a good potential option.
"um... yeah, well, this may have the potential to give a friend or two a heart attack..." oh god, what were layla and molly going to say? probably initially shock, maybe a wink and teasing remark, and then... yeah, many many many more teasing remarks about the whole scenario. maybe he could keep it a secret from them...? but then they'd each be at the ball, so they'd find out eventually and probably gang up on him and beat him up for not telling them first. girls in his life were so complicated and violent sometimes...
okay, now what to say? suddenly the awkwardness seemed to triple, making jaycen shift uncomfortably where he sat, glancing over his shoulder to the stairs that led to the boy's dorm. "so uh... i'll talk to you later, then. i mean, it's, er, getting late, so i should probably sleep to be functional tomorrow." and yet he still made no direct move to leave.

if i leave my heart with you tonight promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | So that was it, she was going to the Yule Ball with Jaycen, no big deal right? Well that was until her mind begun overanalysing the whole situation. She was going with Jaycen, of all the people that had asked her, she agreed to go with him, what in Merlin's name was wrong with her. This was the Jaycen that tormented and insulted her since day one, this was the same guy that she couldn’t seem to get away from and yet she had just agreed to go to the ball with him. Did the universe really hate her that much? She just sat there, blinking and breathing but not moving. She couldn’t even contemplate on how she could have agreed and then she cursed herself. Yes it was her own damn fault for agreeing, her own damn fault for not saying yes to some other guy, one she was sure she'd have a great time with. But what was to say she wouldn’t have a great time with Jaycen. Oh god no, she just could not think about that. Jaycen and fun did not go together. It was her duty to make Ravenclaw proud, and this was yet another duty for her house, to show everyone that Ravenclaw was a good...excellent house. That was the excuse she made up in her mind and she was sticking to it.
Why the hell would her friends think, maybe they'd admit her to hospital and keep her in the psychiatric ward cause they would think she was insane, but then Jaycen's friends would most likely do the same which meant she still wouldn’t be able to get away from him. Argh, she growled in her head as she finally turned back to look at Jaycen. He looked...calm. Well on the outside he did, she had no idea how he felt or what he thought of this whole strange situation. Perhaps it wouldn’t be that bad, being his date. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought of that, yet surprisingly the thought didn’t disgust her at all. It was only one night, she thought she could get through it and then they could go back to their normal truce that they had between them. Heck it wasn’t even a date...right?
She really had to stop thinking about it, what was said and done was done, she couldn’t tell him to find someone else not after she had agreed. She'd have to grin and bear it. His voice broke her train of thoughts and at that moment she could have kissed him for doing so.
"so uh... I’ll talk to you later, then. I mean, it's, er, getting late, so I should probably sleep to be functional tomorrow." Oh, she thought, he had a point. She didn’t want to keep him down here against his will not that she was doing so in the first place. "Sure, I better get started on this essay," she replied, if she could even manage to read a sentence without her mind going back to this moment. She doubted she'd get anything done tonight, but her words gave her a sense of normalcy back. However she noticed that he didn’t move, did he expect her to move instead?
