Kyra’s boots crunched loudly in the snow as she stomped down the white path. They weren’t boots you would expect a girl looking like her to be wearing. Then again, everything about Kyra’s looks defied who she really was. From the Golden hair, the wide blue eyes to the tall and frail stature. You would expect her to be shopping for clothes or something of that sort, not trudging through the streets in the strange outfit. Well, strange for what looked like an innocent teenage muggle. She always did look younger though, and twice already she had been mistaken for a student much to her annoyance. Her clothes obviously weren't the uniform so why couldn't they tell? Her boots were much like the military issued ones muggles wore. She wore the rugged black boots not for style but for convenience. They had excellent traction and she couldn’t afford losing her footing due to the power of an oncoming spell. The two seconds it would take to get back up she could be a victim of an unforgivable curse.
The rest of her outfit was much the same, and the outfit she usually wore. Grey sweats were tucked into her boots, loose and mobile. Beneath them would be a pair of black yoga pants for more warmth usually, but not today. They were usually there for mobility and safety in case her sweats were targeted and she needed to dispose of them for any reason. For a top she wore a long-sleeved black thermal shirt and a grey zip-up hooded vest over that. Her hair she let fall free. For some reason she disliked restraining it. It was a comfort thing though, and if she was working she would usually have it held securely back in a bun so it couldn’t distract her. Today, she wasn't working as an Auror. No, as of late she was a professor at Hogwarts. She was here both for safety and teaching class. See, Kyra was exceptionally gifted on the broom, and she used that ability when she was fighting. Now, she was teaching a new style of broom class. Combat on a broom. It was something she thought was a great asset, but greatly overlooked.
Kyra walked the rest of the distance to the lake, grateful that the teachers didn’t have a curfew. It was only ten, but it was dark out as a result of the winter time. Kyra could see where she was going thanks to the floating lantern that followed her. They were such useful things. Sometimes Kyra wondered how she survived as a muggle without magic. But, those days were long over and she would probably never see them again. The days of innocent bliss. Luckily Kyra was not one to dwell on the past or wish frutelessly. She once read in a muggle book that: ‘when you dream of things that never will be or never will, you have given up.’. That quote was something she believed in and she liked to practice.
When she reached the side of the lake kyra removed her boots, sweats, and top clothing. Beneath it she had a blue Tankini swimsuit. Sure, it was modest, but she would never swim in it in front of people. Kyra was a little big on modesty, almost like an older person. She smiled at that though, looking over to her side. The scar that started in the center of her chest and wrapped down across her stomach, her left side, and to the lower part of her back was obviously in sight. Kyra never flaunted that scar, but nor did she go out of her way to hide it. It was a part of who she was and a reminder of past mistakes. For that reason, even if there was a way to remove it she would refuse.
Shivering at the cold winter weather, Kyra made her way quickly to the lake, the lamp following her. A warming spell made it lovely as she slipped inside of the water. This was one of her hobbies: Swimming at night. It was also something she could rarely do because of her work and the risk. Kyra was a paranoid person and she even slept with her wand. Leaving it on the shore any other time would bother her, but she did feel that Hogwarts was safe enough to do so. Wading ten feet out in the water Kyra went no further and just stared at the sky. She thought it was beautiful and loved how at Hogwarts, you could see the stars. She located Sirius and was reminded of her favorite person of history. She had never met him, but everyone knew of him. Kyra admired him deeply for everything he had done. With a content sigh the blonde girl closed her eyes.

i'm a lady killer and your a pretty lady With everything that had been happening lately, it was a surprise that the French professor managed to keep his calm. First the attack on Hugo, then on Theia and then the one on Shailene. It wasn’t just a coincidence, he thought, someone was purposely attacking students and it frustrated him. He sighed as he ran a hand through his messy brown hair, thinking on this was too much like hard work at the moment, the night was meant to be spent doing other things...fun things. He looked out of the window from his fifth floor classroom. A light dusting of snow covered the ground, but it was the lake that drew his attention. The dark water reflecting the lights from the castle that caught the surface, he could stare at the lake all night if he wanted to, but that was pointless. Why oh why couldn’t it be summer, why did they have to have winter, the one season he hated. Turning back to the assignments he was marking, he picked up the quill again and proceeded to mark the last few papers. After reading the first 5 papers, marking assignments always seemed to get tedious, but when he finished the last one it felt good to know that he had at least one thing less to worry about.
His dark eyes once again gazed out the window, it was such a perfect night, the snow had stopped falling and the water beckoned him, so what was stopping him? Just because he hated winter didn’t mean he had to give up everything during the season. Standing up, he flicked his wand, putting the papers in the draw in his desk, sealing it with an unlockable charm before he made his way out of the classroom and down towards the castle doors. The castle was quiet, the only people he saw were prefects patrolling the corridors, how late was it he wondered, not that he really cared. Stepping out into the freezing night air, he almost changed his mind about going swimming. He pulled out his wand, casting a warming charm over himself before he hurried to the lake. He knew the water would be almost unbearable, it was always freezing cold, even in summer, but it didn’t stop him. Pulling his shirt up and over his head, his hands flew to his pants as he unbuttoned them and pulled the off. Taking his wand, he transfigured his boxer shorts into board shorts before placing his wand on top of his discarded pile of clothes. Turning he slid into the water, careful not to make too much noise, he didn’t want to draw the giant squid's attention. Finally he took a deep breath before submerging himself completely, only resurfacing a moment later. Brushing back his wet hair, it was only then he realised that he wasn’t completely alone.

This late at night, Kyra didn't expect to find any students nearby. Of course, she was even less suspecting that a teacher[/1] might have the same thoughts as her. In this wary time, it seemed Kyra was the more laid-back person at the school. That was an odd thing to call the ever-suspecting girl. Perhaps it was the fact she'd only been called in recently to teach, and perhaps it was the fact she was an Auror. She was used to acting under pressure and though this whole case was making her nervous, she wouldn't let it get to her. Another sigh floated from her lips and she opened her eyes, swimming a little closer to the shore just so she could barely touch the ground. That left her at about 5'5 of water, being nearly 6 feet herself. When she was in school it used to make her nervous but not now, since she stopped caring about her appearance.
Just as she touched the ground she used it to hop around a little bit until she found a rock that let her stand a little further up but she was barely teetering on it. Treating it sort of like a balancing exercise, she spun around to face the other way, and started. Another face was coming up from the water, and she hoped it was human and not Mer. No.. Kyra had only had one small confrontation with a Merperson and it didn't go too well to say the least. Obviously this was not a Merperson, but it was a little to late for Kyra to regain her footing on the rock, before she slipped back, submerging herself complete. For a brief second, she wondered if she could just stay like that, and wait for them to leave. That was only a second of thought though, before she realized just how folly her thoughts were and moved back up to the surface.
Kneeling a little so only her nose and eyes showed she stared at the man, not really knowing what to say. He looked too old to be a student, and she was pretty sure she'd read that he was the muggle-studdies teacher in the school portfolio. The only reason she really remembered was because she was curious what kind of stuff they taught on muggles. She was raised by them after all, so the concept of taking a class on them was an idea she still thought a little odd. Then again, there were few Half-bloods that had much to do with them, and even fewer Purebloods. Perhaps that was another cause to the unfortunate blood-purity war that seemed to continue for all eternity.
Kyra realized she had been quiet for a bit to long. That was an area Kyra was lacking in, and would probably always be horrible at: Social skills. She just stared at him for a few seconds before she sighed underwater, it turning into bubbled around her mouth. Thank heavens it was dark, otherwise it would be easy to tell just how embarrassed she was at her own behavior. She moved so her whole head was above water and chuckled nervously. For lack of better conversation she said the only thing that came to her mind: "Nice weather we're having isn't it?" Lame? Quite so. Typical of Kyra? Even more true.

i'm a lady killer and your a pretty lady If it weren’t for the nice warming charm he had performed on himself earlier, the water would have chilled him to the bone, something that wasn’t exactly pleasant. Why couldn’t the weather stay nice and warm, like those countries close to the equator. Why did it have to snow and freeze here? But no he wasn’t so fortunate to get what he wanted. Perhaps he ought to move to a warmer country, but England was his second home, if he were to move, it would be to simply go back to France.
He gave one more glance at the girl that was occupying the lake with him. Either she hadn’t seen him or she was tongue tied, either way he didn’t want to spoil the quiet, calm mood of the lake, if she wanted him to talk she had to initiate the conversation. She was a professor, or someone that worked around the school, she was a little too old to pull off the student look, just like him, in fact she seemed vaguely familiar from his school years but instantly dismissed the thought as soon as it popped into his head.
"Nice weather we're having isn't it?" He was just about to turn and head to the edge of the lake to get out, to leave the girl...woman alone, like she seemed to want to be when her voice floated in his ears. He turned his head and took a good look at her. Nice weather? What was so nice about this sort of weather, he wanted to know. Maybe she was one of those people that liked the snow and the cold. "It could be warmer, I’m not one for winter much," he replied, his French accent thick, "I don’t believe we have been formally introduced yet. Judas Delacroix, muggle studies professor. And why may I call such a lovely lady as yourself?" Oh yes he was working his charm, the one he had used every since his sixth year to get the women, to sleep with them and then to leave them. Although something told him that this girl was not one to be messed around with. Maybe he could settle for a friendship with her, maybe she wanted something more from him, he was already thinking too far ahead, he had only just met the woman, he didn’t even know her name yet.

The enchanted lamp floated with her and stopped between them so she could see the man. Her training couldn’t help but make her notice he wasn’t showing any hostile behavior. He seemed relaxed and that allowed Kyra to relax as well. It wasn’t that she thought him more distrustful than others, just that she didn’t trust anyone. Kingsley had been the last man who had earned her trust and respect but that was to be expected. He was an wizard of a skill she could only dream of, and a headmaster to boot. Though, she really had expected him to, and wished him to become minister. It wasn’t to be though, and the current one she did respect even if she didn’t completely trust him. Kyra was not above judging someone on their past just to be safe. That wasn’t to say she wouldn’t give her life for him if the time ever rose though, make no mistake about that.
Kyra took in his name and stored it to her memory along with his face. When she thought about his words she raised an eyebrow. is he trying to be charming? she thought before shaking it off. That would definitely be a first. After a small moment of silence she moved closer to him and held out her hand in a formal motion. “Kyra Jade Clark. I was assigned here a week ago to help out and teach the basic and combat flight class.” She didn’t feel like it was necessary to elaborate on what she meant by help out. Why else when an Auror end up teaching at a school? Even though flight was an important class there were many teachers who could do it. She didn’t need to say the issue out loud though. What could she say anyways? So little was known about what was going on with the recent attacks that the briefing would be only a few seconds long. Luckily it seemed Kingsley was trying to handle it before it got out of control. Taking no risks, something Kyra approved of.
looking down at him, Kyra noticed she was a few inches taller than him. That wasn’t unusual for the girl though. Being half an inch from 6 feet tall. She hated how it made her stand out the most, and many remembered her face after they saw it once. Luckily she had since learned that if she remained quiet and in the background, she was less likely to be noticed in the first place. Unlike other girls Kyra was practical and believed that the less you made yourself notice, the better it was. Kyra looked up at the sky and the stars peeking through the clouds. Despite the charm, when she exhaled there was smoke from her mouth. “I always preferred the winter. You can track people better thanks to the snow, more hiding opportunities, and if you have a broom it’s easier to lose someone following you.” She gave her reason for liking the winter. It might seem weird that those were all technical standpoints and not her personal opinion of the weather, but that was expected of someone like Kyra.
Another silent moment passed before Kyra asked a question that had been on her mind since she read his portfolio. “What qualifications do you have to teach muggle studies? Were you raised as one?” It might seem personal but it was something she was wondering and Kyra was never ashamed to ask questions. She had heard of purebloods falsely teaching that class before. From his profile he was a half-born so he could go either way on the issue. However, she doubted Kingsley would hire someone ignorant or full of lies to teach the subject.

i'm a lady killer and your a pretty lady He watched her draw closer to him, the lantern following her. It allowed him to get a better look of her. A soft looking face, although that didn’t mean she couldn’t hold her own, long blonde hair and sparkling eyes. She was indeed very attractive. Surely someone like her was already snatched up, already in a deep and long relationship with someone. Lucky bastard, he thought, assuming the woman in front of his did have a partner. For a moment she seemed tense before he saw her visibly relaxing, maybe she wasn’t used to swimming late at night with others close by.
Kyra Jade Clark, such a pretty name for one as pretty as herself. Wait what did she mean by being assigned here. Was she a substitute professor that went from school to school when they were in desperate need of a professor? But then what would a substitute professor be doing teaching students basic and combat flight classes, it didn’t make sense and nothing she said seemed to add up. Well it was her prerogative if she wanted to keep that to herself, he wasn’t one for forcing others...outside the classroom.
She went on about how she liked the winter, explaining to him how it was easier to tack people and to escape from others on a broom. He himself had no experience of wanting to escape from someone using a broom, in fact he'd much rather keep his feet firmly on the ground where he could stand and fight, run or apparate from his opponent. "It wouldn’t be so easy if there was a snow storm, all the tracks would be covered, and flying in a blizzard is simply dangerous," he replied without meaning to. He hoped she wasn’t offended.
“What qualifications do you have to teach muggle studies? Were you raised as one?” Now he felt like he was being interrogated. Maybe this was her way of making conversation, blunt and straight to the point. He chuckled, could he say he was raised as a muggle? In some aspects yes. "Well now there haven’t been that many Slytherin muggleborns until recently," he chuckled, "I’m a halfblood, my father was a pureblood, and my mother is a muggle. So yes I do have sufficient qualifications to teach such subject." Maybe she was from the ministry, checking to see that everyone had the right qualifications, well he knew he did and that was all that matter when it came to his class.
