Steve wasn't going to prove to anyone , but in his own reality he actually was. To prove a point he was going to dress in his finest suit, and ended up wearing a rather nice navy blue suit that complimented his features. Steve liked to keep himself clean-shaven, and this was no different than any other day in the life of his own shoes. Anyone else walking in these dress shoes probably would have tripped over them a million times already, but that didn't mean he was going to just give up on his date whom he knew would show up shortly after him. Steve did have some faith in Layla after all why would he be there then if she didn't show up at all? That would have been rather awkward and surely he would have brought it up the next time they met.
Keeping his mind focused on the ball as he started to make his way down the corridors hoping that he wouldn't be late to see Layla walking out of her dorm. Deciding it would be best to keep a close eye on the time as he made sure to grab a watch just in case he hadn't any second thoughts about seeing her. Once more he was caught with a dilemma that didn't want him to go to the ball without her at all. So instead, he went up to the Ravenclaw dorm room to wait for Layla there so he could at least escort her to the yule ball. Glad that they wouldn't have masks on this time so they knew who the other was and left out the mystery factor. Eagerly walking to the tower, and then folding his hands behind his back he waited.
Steve was clean-shaven for the evening, and also had his hair combed to the left side so it wasn't in his way. Then finally just let out a soft sigh watching all the other couples wander by.

It was weird getting ready for the yule ball, even though this time she did have a date. She hadn’t been as resistant to getting ready as she had been for the masquerade, maybe because this time she at least knew who she was going with. She could very easily find topics of conversation with Steve, which is what made this whole situation easier. But of course the dress that she had ended up getting, well she was starting to regret the choice as soon as she put it on. When she had tried it on at the store, she had just rationalized that it would be okay, since the yule ball was inside. But of course it was rather that she felt a bit weird, even though her masquerade dress had been a strapless one, for some reason she felt this one was a bit different. Either way she tried to get over the odd feeling as she tried to find something cover her bare back. She finally found the shawl that came with the dress, and she stuffed it in her bag, which she had spelled once again to be able to hold everything she needed. If she needed it, she would retrieve it, even though she was sure the yule ball would be similar to the masquerade sans masks.
When she finally was deemed finished by Molly she checked the time and realized that Steve was probably waiting for her. They had agreed to meet outside of her dorm, even though she was sure it would have been easier to just meet outside the great hall. But she really couldn’t remember what the reasoning behind him waiting for her outside the ravenclaw common room was, but she was okay with it either way. She left Molly who still had a few last minute things to do, grabbing her bag and making her way down the stairs towards the ravenclaw common room. She stopped for a second before she left the common room, for some reason the nerves were starting to hit her. It was absolutely ridiculous because she was going with someone she was completely comfortable with, but still it tended to make her nervous either way. Maybe it was because she was wearing heels again, and she was always most comfortable wearing flat shoes, and there was a part of her that knew if she made one incorrect step she would end up falling flat on her face. Obviously she was a bit more graceful than that, even though she didn’t appreciate heels and other girly things as did many of the other girls in her year, she could very easily walk in heels and put on makeup. She tried her best to ignore the nerves as she pushed open the door to the common room. There were a lot of people lingering about, but it only took her a second to spot Steve as she made her way towards him. He looked very handsome in his suit, a fact she could probably voice out loud but she had a feeling it might lead to some sort of cheeky comment from him.
“Hi” she said as she approached, “You look handsome” clickity click click for her outfit

Steve wasn't just going to wait for her here, but he had decided upon it just cause it was easier for him to meet up here instead of having to wait to only find out she wouldn't show up. Steve had more faith in Layla than that, but you never knew what friends could pressure you into sometimes. It was only a natural occurrence that he would have agreed upon a preset spot, however, he no longer found it to be a concern after seeing that rather beautiful dress on her frame. If she had been a duckling earlier, now she had turned into a swan as he reveled in her beauty and merely thought he was the luckiest guy in the school. Next to those that thought all of their dates were hot too, but apparently the genetics at Hogwarts are so great to even bother denouncing the fact that every girl here was almost too pretty for their own good.
Steve had to disagree, there were a few he'd actually never go out with even though they were probably the nicest ones in the school. No, he was focused on Layla and didn't want his thoughts to wander too far from the task at hand, which was taking her to the yule ball, and it was a very simple concept. So why couldn't he just reach out his hand like so? Reaching out his hand he gently took hers in his own, and then had his mind tell him to start walking with her. Not just stand there like a fool with his jaw hanging open at how gorgeous she looked, but that was perhaps the desired reaction she was aiming for. If so, Steve was glad he had done that then, but he didn't need to stare so creepy like. Eyes wide and slack-jawed until he caught himself as he instantly swooped up to kiss her fully on the lips.
There was instant fireworks in his eyes and he felt that blazing connection between them again lighting up. Oh, how he wanted to just whisk her away from Hogwarts and never return to start a family with her. So he joking said, "Let's go join the circus, we can escape from here, and make a living on our own as clowns," hoping she'd laugh at that. "Kidding, but you look gorgeous, as always Layla. Shall we?" he asked in a courteous voice as he bowed slowly holding out his hand again in a more old-fashioned manner. Not caring what anyone else said about this, but he liked treating Layla like a proper lady as if she were a princess. To him she was, and this was their story that would unfold tonight.

She could only guess that he thought she looked pretty by the expression he was wearing. It was kind of funny, in her thoughts she looked rather ridiculous. At least she didn’t feel as constricted as she had in the strapless gown, maybe because this one actually had sleeves, or what could basically pass off as something that held up the dress. Either way she was glad that he apparently appreciated the effort she had put into dressing up for this thing, even if she knew that one wrong step in the shoes she was currently wearing and she’d end up flat on her face. Either way she felt about a million times better when he took her hand, she was about to start walking herself when he kissed her, and that of course made her stand in place. She wasn’t sure when she’d stop feeling all fuzzy inside when he kissed her, or if it would ever stop. It was a new feeling, and it was nice, and she thoroughly enjoyed it, but she also didn’t want it to appear that she was some love struck girl all the time. She wasn’t sure what he felt every time they kissed, but he had to feel something because she seriously doubted that he couldn’t feel that connection that they seemed to have every time they touched in any marginal way. But she brushed the thoughts aside as she smiled at him.
“As appealing as being a clown is, and I’m sure I’d be good at it” she said, “I think I have higher aspirations”
She knew that he was joking, she was sure no one really wanted to go live with the circus. She actually had only been to the circus once, and she didn’t want to go back. The lion had scared her half to death, and well her parents had made it a point to not return, unless Layla asked. She tended to avoid places that housed large animals, it was one of the reasons she had opted to not take care of magical creatures when they were allowed to take more electives, if she couldn’t take normal animals, she was sure she couldn’t take magical creatures. Unless they were unicorns, those were fun to look at. She tried to not giggle at his bow, there were times when he was a joker, and then other times where it didn’t look like he was kidding and she wasn’t sure if he was being serious or not. She decided it was best to not giggle at his comment, and nodded. The sooner they arrived at the yule ball, the sooner it would pass and the sooner she would be out of the dress and the heels. She would be ecstatic when she could get back in her normal clothes the next day. But at least she wouldn’t have to deal with a hairpin headache in the morning, given the small amount of hairpins that were holding her hair up right now. Plus she was also curious to see how everyone else had cleaned up, this would be different than the masquerade because everyone would be unmasked and obviously you would be able to tell who was who.
“Let’s hope that this ball isn’t as eventful as the last, or maybe it will be” she added as an afterthought as she took his hand once again.

Steve wasn't sure if she was serious, but he knew that the mocking tone she had meant she was joking too. It was hard for him to determine if he should laugh at that or not, but he was still playing it safe right now. Funny that this was the closest he could get to an actual relationship, but this was technically his first one in general, considering he never really aspired to date anyone else. The special moment had been when they had been making potions with one another for a while, the student had fallen for the tutor. Yes, that was slightly forbidden in many cultures, but they were both still students at Hogwarts...so that made it right. Trying to think of a clever response to her was rather hard when she looked as stunning as she did.
Steve really didn't want to make a big fuss out of this ball, but he was actually in full splendor for a change so that Layla could examine his entire body as he was walking away from her. Steve made a rather awkward bow when he was listening to her speak making her full lips move slowly, and then he noticed her teeth at the same time. Yet, he thought her teeth were perfectly straight either way, and now he was finally continuing to guide her to the room. It was farther than he remembered it being, mainly cause he didn't want to be connected in a deeper way right now. Of course, he had gone pretty far with Layla if he had asked her to the yule ball and she had said yes.
Now he had to keep his mind reeling with the many possibilities that he could come up with now. Smirking slightly as he took the lead moving into the ballroom after that long walk down to the room. "Well, I can guarantee you would make one very hot clown in the long run, haha, but either way, I hope you do...just like me..I plan on being a barmaid and showing off my bosom to all those lovely lads. Just kidding..." he said, making a mockery of the servant girls bouncing over putting his hands on his chest. Then pushing his shirt up playfully just to show her what he meant...not caring if anyone saw him as they were now in the ball room. Steve did have a habit for drawing unwanted attention.
