Almost two months had past since the last task, and now it was time for the second one. Draco remembered a similar task back when he went to Hogwarts where the Champions had to find a loved one that was taken from them, but instead it was during the Triwizard tournament and well they had to swim in the lake. Luckily, since it was in the middle of the winter, the Champions would be running through the Forbidden Forest instead. He didn’t want any of the students to get Hypothermia from swimming in the water anyways; especially his own son.
There were bleachers set up in front of the forest and the students were piling in. He knew that the champions would be on their way from the tent soon enough, and once he saw them start the follow each other out of the tent and the bleachers were pretty much filled up, he pointed his wand at his throat and whispered a quick “Sonorus
” before slipping his wand away. “ Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you to the House tournament’s second Task. I know many of you are excited to see what will happen today and whom will finish this task in first place. I want to put a great big thank you out there for the Magical Games and Sports department for helping get this task sat up,” and then he heard the audience burst in applause, but soon enough it subsided and Draco could continue to speak. “ Now I know many of you are wondering what this task is all about, but fist I’d like to let the champions know that someone dear to their heart was taken last night. And those loved ones of theirs are now hidden somewhere deep in the Forbidden Forest and it’s up to them to find them. Of course, they should work in pairs with their teammate to find the two loved ones for that team,” he said as he glanced at the champions. He then cleared his throat before pointing to screens that were in front of the audience. “ On these screens you’ll be able to see the champions and how they are doing. There are four screens and each screen follows one of the teams,” he stated, knowing that without the screens the audience really wouldn’t know what was going on in the Forbidden Forest. “ No without further ado, let’s get this task started! Champions, it’s time for you to go and find your loved ones,” and with that Draco had waved his wand in the air, shooting off green sparks to signal the start of the task. Post by JAMES SIRIUS POTTER on Dec 7, 2011 6:39:18 GMT -6
James was just wearing the ordinary colors for a change, but he kept his mouth shut for the time being as he eyed Scorpius from where he was standing. Even if they did manage to get first place it just meant he had to pick up the pace to get ahead of Slytherin. Sadly this wasn't enough for him, but he was going to make sure that his team did win this time without him being a hindrance. Even if Alaya was on his team, and he realized he didn't know exactly who would be at the end. Sure, he cared for a few people, but he valued friendship over his loved ones so he could figure out who it was. No, he didn't know as he tried to rack his mind about who it was.
Not that it was within his mind, but he figured he should at least attempt to save whoever he could no matter who it was. Although, it was weird that this was happening and had asked his father for advice on a task like this. If these people were within the forbidden forest, that just meant it would be worse than it really was. Surely, a few creatures would be in their way as he nodded to Alaya after making sure there were no obstacles in his way as he started off. As soon as that wand was waved, James was off like a tiger, and already hopping over some roots as he made his way over to the forest now. Finally just looking back over his shoulder to make sure Alaya was keeping up.
James really didn't need to look over his shoulders to make sure that she was following him or at least ahead of him. At least they sort of had an advantage, but that didn't mean they couldn't trip on some random root to fly face first into a tree at full speed. That would have hurt like hell, but he had to keep himself focused on what lie ahead as he continued on the same path that he usually took throughout the forest as if he had traversed this place a hundred times. Students weren't allowed here, but this was James Potter we're talking about.
James Sirius Potter is now running into the forest.

Another heavy sighed escaped his lips as he turned to Theia. Aubrey had dumped him because she thought he and Theia worked so well together, but wasn’t that a given for best friends? Best friends knew everything...or just about everything of one another, their strengths and weaknesses, so it only seemed natural to work well with her. His eyes travelled to the Hufflepuff pair. They were the team to beat. They won the last challenge, but not this one, he thought. Oh no, Slytherin was taking the win on this challenge for sure. Today Hufflepuff was going down and well Gryffindor they could eat dirt for all he cared...well James could, Alaya he didn’t really mind. As for Ravenclaw, he hoped they were smart enough to stay out of Slytherin’s way and to let them win.
And then it was time. He marched out of the tent, his head held high with confidence as he made his way towards the forest, stopping just in front of the bleachers. He didn’t say a single word to Theia, instead he looked up in the bleachers. Strange, he thought, he was sure Al would be sitting down by now. There was Mrs Potter, he didn’t dare look for Mr Potter, so where was Al? Maybe he was running late, come to think of it, he hadn’t seen him last night either. Perhaps he spent time with his family and had to head back to the Slytherin dorms for a change of clothes. Turning to his own father, he listened intensely.
“Now I know many of you are wondering what this task is all about, but first I’d like to let the champions know that someone dear to their heart was taken last night. And those loved ones of theirs are now hidden somewhere deep in the Forbidden Forest and it’s up to them to find them. Of course, they should work in pairs with their teammate to find the two loved ones for that team,” Loved ones taken? Well now that couldn’t be right, because his loved one was addressing everybody. He glanced at Theia. Could Al be one of their loved ones and if so who’s? His head whipped around to the other bleacher, looking for the blonde hair of his ex. He doubted that she would have been chosen so who else? Unless...no, surely they wouldn’t have chosen her. His eyes searched frantically through the crowd, but he could not find Rose Weasley. Again maybe she was running late, perhaps she and Al were talking somewhere. Scorpius turned back around to face the forest. Whoever their loved ones happened to be, he was going to damn well make sure they came out first and won this task.
His father went on about four screens but he paid no attention, instead he watched his father's hand that held the wand intensely, waiting for the signal to begin. Within moments, green sparks erupted from his wand and Scorp took off into the thick dark forest, not bothering to ask whether or not Theia was going to run as a human or a tiger.

theia gritted her teeth as she awaited for the task to start, determined and ready as the first task to win this. it was only by sheer dumb luck that hufflepuff had won last time, but this time it would be slytherin in first place, she was certain of it. her eyes were hard, focused only on the task and putting everything else out of mind. her and albus' jump from friendship to more had occupied her mind for far too long and she couldn't let it get in the way of this. she had to win this, which meant she needed to focus on what she was doing...and also on scorpius. they needed to work as a team in this task, whatever it was, and she frowned as she glanced at him and then strode out beside him, ignoring the other teams completely, they could make their own luck she was not going to waste some wishing it on them.
“Now I know many of you are wondering what this task is all about, but fist I’d like to let the champions know that someone dear to their heart was taken last night. And those loved ones of theirs are now hidden somewhere deep in the Forbidden Forest and it’s up to them to find them. Of course, they should work in pairs with their teammate to find the two loved ones for that team,” theia froze, and her eyes widened in shock. a loved one? ... theia bit down hard on her lower lip and though she'd been forcing herself not to before hand, her gaze searched the stands where she found no hint of his dark hair of green eyes. she swallowed hastily and searched once more before paling. "albus.." she whispered and her hands curled into fists. there were very few that theia would label a loved one... an ex of hers, xander... he remained a good friend... then there was scorp but he was beside her.. and then there was albus...
they'd taken albus. she glanced at scorpius and then away, knowing he had probably already figured it out from the way she'd murmured his name and searched the grounds. who was his she didn't know and she glanced at him. "who's yours?" she muttered quickly, readying herself as she saw draco's wand shoot sparks and the task began. fueling herself with the adrenlin and anticipation of the task, as well as the trace of fear and anger that albus had been taken as she lept forward...right into her tigress animagus shape, and with a snarl and a snap of her powerful jaws toward james just for the sake of it she sprang forward after scorp, catching up quickly and giving him a small growl as if to tell him to hurry up and learn to run faster or grow wings.. she needed to get alb back...

He heard her ask who his chosen loved one was but he didn't have time to answer her. His mind was still going over every possibility of who his could be, even the thought that Rose was James loved one. No he knew for a fact that Rose was closer to Al. He had seen Aubrey so he knew it wasn't her, they wouldn't have chosen his mother, they weren't exactly close. He kept going through everyone he knew but always kept coming back to two people: his father and Rose Weasley. Well he knew for a fact that it wasn't his father, although it did make him slightly curious as to who would have started the task had his father been his chosen, which meant that Rose had to be his, it was the only logical choice.
Theia's growl snapped him back into reality. He had heard a growl similar to that in the previous task before she allowed him to ride on her back. He rolled his eyes but knee she was right, they needed to hurry, to be fast. They needed to almost fly through this challenge to ensure first. Fly he thought, yes he could fly. He needed to literally fly. There had been no rules to say he couldn't and flying would allow him to keep up with Theia. Smirking, he grabbed his wand from his pocket. "Accio skyrocket," he called out as he ran. The broom took a few precious minutes before it made it's way to him where he jumped on it almost falling off in his haste. Righting himself on the broom, he felt much more confident, he doubted the others...well maybe ravenclaw would have the brains to use brooms.
Being on a broom felt second nature to him, much like breathing. He was comfortable as he dodged trees and low hanging vines and branches, some might have thought he was insane. He felt not only the air whip around him but the branches, vines and the razor sharp leaves, but he paid no attention to any pain as he flew, he just wanted to get Al and Rose and finish first, a few scratches were nothing. It didn't take long to catch up to Theia and maintain the speed she was going at. "I'm pretty sure it's Rose," he spoke after a while of silence. So far so good, he thought, but good never lasted long in the forbidden forest.

Post by DUNSTABLE VERNON DURSLEY on Dec 8, 2011 5:37:55 GMT -6
When Dunstable awoke that morning, he noticed that it had snowed the night before and could tell that it was a bit chilly outside just by looking out the magical window in the Hufflepuff dorm room that showed just how it looked outside, thank goodness the Hufflepuff common room was toasty warm as it always was.
He had sat up and stretched glancing around a noticed he was one of the first to wake, which was to be expected as it was the day of the second task and he always seemed to wake early for those kind of events, he had even awoke early on the night of the ball when he didn’t even have to be there until that evening. Sighing softly he got out of his black and yellow four poster bed and shuffled on over to his trunk to pull out some warm clothes for the days task. He had a feeling it wasn’t going to be inside, especially since they had been told to meet down by the Forbidden Forest. Soon after he chose what he would wear, he was in and out of the shower rooms faster than most people, never had been one for stalling in the morning and off he headed out of the Hufflepuff common room and up to the Great Hall for some breakfast.
The Great Hall was slowly filling up as he sat at the Hufflepuff table and ate. Everyone was chattering about what today’s task could all be about. Picking away at his scrambled eggs he glanced over at the Slytherin table to see if he could spot Lucy, but it seemed that she hadn’t gotten up quite yet. He just hoped that she didn’t skip out on the task, especially after the conversation they had on the night of the Yule Ball. But soon enough, Yori had shown up by him to eat as well and he smiled at her. The two of them made a great team, maybe they’ll come in first place again. Well, at least Dunstable had hoped so.
And then it was time to head out to the Forbidden Forest. He nodded to Yori and the two of them left the chatty Hufflepuff table and headed out of the castle to the Forbidden Forest. They had actually had to go through the Forbidden Forest during part of their last task, he had a feeling they would be spending a lot more time in it this time.
As the stands had filled up, he would constantly look out to them only to be a bit disappointed every time when he saw that Lucy had not shown up yet. He had even seen Olivia arrive with her crew, but no sign of Lucy. And then the Minister had begun to talk, announcing what their task would be, it all begun to hit him. That had to be where Lucy was, she had to be one of the two that would be tied up for him and Yori, waiting to be saved. Clenching his fist lightly, he just hoped that when Olivia saw who his loved one was, that she wouldn’t decide to do something to Lucy. “Shall we go and save them?
” he said as she turned to Yori with a slight smile. There was no way the two of them weren’t going to give it their all. He knew that the team would be doing great this round. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

It was like a relapse-- in a way. Yori could admit to getting at least a little bit of sleep this time. She didn't want to be so jittery, especially if they were going to be running again. She hated the idea of her wand arm being shaky. Though it was only for about four hours or so, the Japanese girl was in a much calmer state of mind when she had woken up this morning. Eating breakfast was still impossible though, and it wasn't just the biting cold that left her with a white expression. Maybe by the time they got to the final task, the hufflepuff could stomach a nibble or two. It almost sounded bitter in her mind, but her nerves were just driving her nuts.
At the very least, she could afford to have high hopes for this event. They had managed first place in the previous task, and with only a few scratches to show for it. When Dunstable had nodded over to her to begin their trek over to the Forbidden Forest, she managed something of a tight smile. She bundled up warmly for the event, considering the fresh powder of snow that blanketed the campus. It was tempting to retreat back inside, curl up by the fire place, and just nap the day away, but there was a certain feeling that seemed to be weighing her. She was nervous, yes, but it was more akin to dread. With a frown, she fell just a step behind Dunstable, eying the stands as if she would get an answer from there.
She was absolutely floored at the minister's announcement, standing frozen for several moments at the announcement. Her mind went through several possible candidates; who she had seen that morning-- voices she heard. Josceline wasn't at the table that morning. It hadn't really registered since she was already nervous about today's events. A part of her felt incredibly guilty for not noticing something so abnormal like one of her closest friends being missing for breakfast. She didn't like the idea of being so self-absorbed, and somewhere in the back of her mind, Yori had decided she would apologize for such an oversight once they rescued her.
On the other hand, she was now more terrified than ever. Jos was out there, and she certainly wasn't going to waste any time in leaving her friend out in the open, probably unarmed. And just like that, there was movement. ”Right!” she yelled quickly before beginning to sprint into the Forbidden Forest. The sooner they found the others the better.

not for the first time in the last few months jaycen marvelled at how fast his last year at hogwarts was passing. it was already january, the school year was half over. he had roughly five months to say goodbye to all his friends, and of course figure out what the hell he was going to do with his life. not concerning career, of course, that he had already decided whether his father liked it or not, but moreso with everything else. the damned engagement he wanted to get out of. how he'd do that with his parents without being disowned (which was likely, from his father's view, anyway) or murdered (again, likely from his father's view).
now was not the time to focus on that, however. he had more important things that should take the forefront in his mind, like perhaps the second task? it seemed like just yesterday that the first had fiinished with ravenclaw finishing in an unhappy third... today it was time to redeem themselves and their house. he and claire could do this... he knew it. they were ravenclaws, they were more than capable of kicking the sorry, er... they were more than capable of putting slytherin, hufflepuff, and gryffindor in their proper places. they just needed to focus, and to hope that this task was not water related so that claire didn't suffer a heart attack.
"I’d like to let the champions know that someone dear to their heart was taken last night. And those loved ones of theirs are now hidden somewhere deep in the Forbidden Forest and it’s up to them to find them. Of course, they should work in pairs with their teammate to find the two loved ones for that team,” deja vu to the trials from the triwizard tournament back in harry potter's days, though thankfully for ravenclaw's benefit without the deep lake that they'd unfortunately already had to face. but... loved one? oh dear god, if it was chun waiting for him in some pit in the forest, or something of the sort, he was going to slap his father. the people who instantly jumped to his mind as the people he cared about the most were, of course, layla and molly, but he'd seen both of them earlier in the day as they wished him good luck... apparently his loved one would have been taken last night. ...in that case jaycen had no freakin clue who his was going to be. probably, by some sick joke on his father's part, his 'dearly betrothed', but that didn't really console the seventh year.
the moment the signal went off jayce looked to his partner, giving her a small smile and heading off, as always making sure that his partner was nearby. they couldn't win if they didn't work together.

Alaya knew that this one was going to be at least a bit if not more challenging than the first and well that did not go so well for Gryffindors at least. She was at least determined to at least place third. There was no way she was going to be last, not this time. This task was going to be a challenge but they were competing on her turf this time. She knew the forest; it was a home to her. Also with the challenge really did make everyone have to step up their game. Finding a loved one. Well that could only be one of two people for her and one of them was standing next to her. That left only Seizel.
Before she knew it the game had started. That is all it really was, a game, a challenge. To her that was all this really was and it was against her nature to give up on a challenge. Alaya had no trouble keeping pace with James. She had no intention on holding back this round. No she was going to give it her all. If she couldn't do well on such a silly game then how could she compete in the real competition later on? She was brought back into the real world when a strong wind hit her face. It was cold which made her glad that she was well suited for the cold. It also brought with it the sent of something up ahead.
She pulled out her wand and signaled to James to stop. If the creature, creatures were what she figured then running right into them wasn't the best ideas. It wasn't long before the small blue creature came into view. Pixies loved to play pranks and could be a bit troublesome if not dealt with correctly. Alaya pointed her wand at the creatures knowing that they had just noticed their presence. "Immobulus" She whispered hoping that the spell would work long enough to let them pass without any trouble. She wasn't in the mood to be set back by a bunch of creatures she could kill very easily.

He had not seen even a glimpse of the others and wondered if any had called it quits. Oh he desperately wished James would, but then that would mean Alaya would also be out. Would they even allow her to continue on her own? Sighing he dodged yet another low hanging branch. How far were they in, he thought, better yet how much further were the loved ones being held. Maybe if he shot up over the trees he could figure out where exactly he and Theia were heading and hopefully catch a glimpse of something out of the ordinary, like a loved one, or even see how far the other teams were. It was worth a try right. "Theia," he called out to the tiger, before indicating he was going up. Without waiting for her approval, he angled his broom up, covering his face with his arm as he shot out of the trees and into the open air.
All he could see was a sea of green, he didn’t realise that the forest was so dense. But he had not trained as a seeker as a child for nothing. He scanned the area, taking in everything yet hoping he wasn’t wasting too much time. He thought he could sight of movement towards the right, well two movements. That had to be another team right? So they were heading deeper into the forest, that was both a good and bad sign. Good because they were getting closer to the loved ones, or so he hoped, but bad because there were dangerous creatures lurking in the depths of the dark forest. Angling his broom back down, he again covering his face, feeling the sting of the leaves and twigs as they whipped against him. Plucking a leaf from his shoulder he caught up to Theia. "There's a team a bit further to the right of us," he said, hoping that it was a team as he flew along side of her.
Just when he thought everything seemed to be smooth sailing, a voice boomed ahead of them. Slowing down, he wondered what creature it was and had a feeling that it was one they didn’t particular want. A moment later he saw it, a sphinx. Great, he thought. Why couldn’t the Ravenclaws have this one...better yet why couldn’t Gryffindor have this creature. He sighed as he brought the broom to a halt, his eyes staring at the magnificent creature as he waited for the question, hoping that whatever she asked, it would be an easy one to answer. Upon hearing the question, he glanced at Theia, maybe she had an idea as to how to answer it, or maybe she could just tear the creature to...no he doubted that the sphinx would allow them to get that close.

James was certainly not going to be the last one across the finish line, but at this point his mind was only racing on how to get past these pixies. It was easy enough when he was on a straight run through the forest to save who he cared about, but suddenly he thought about his own sister at that very moment. Almost forgetting completely about her, but he thought that fame was getting a little too close to home with his head. Sure, his ego was up there, but he was slowly trying to diminish it as much as he could without it effecting him too much. Even so, he had already been hurt a few times thanks to his ego speaking out for him.
So, as he was lurching forward, all of a sudden he heard Alaya shout something to him, but he hadn't forgotten about his own team mate at least. Especially since they were both going to be together on this task for the most part..he wondered if there would be any tasks that they wouldn't be on a team for. Especially if the last task was a duel between their own houses, but that would be cruel to pit themselves against each other like that. Even so, James wouldn't be 'totally' against the idea as long as he got to wipe the floor with Scorpius Malfoy. Yes, his hatred for that kid ran pretty far at this point, but he didn't really mind at this point. Just avoiding those pixies was the key right now as James just pointed his wand at them and attempted to slow them down too with the same spell Alaya used.

((OOC: Trigger warning for gendered and homophobic slurs.))
She tried not to think too much. Thinking gave her time to worry, and too much of that would paralyze her on the spot. For now, she did her best just to focus on not tripping or running into a tree like an idiot. Yori didn't want to leave Jos alone for too long. She was still kicking herself for not noticing something wrong sooner. Though she was awkward still in talking to Jos about the tournament, she still tried to see if she was around. Was she really so oblivious? The hufflepuff shook the thought away as she continued to run, keeping an eye on Dunstable nearby. He was probably just as worried as she was, not so surprisingly.
After all, these were people they all cared about. Everyone would be worried, at least a little bit. Most of them were probably a bit calmer than she felt though, if their outer appearance were to be believed. She could still see another champion every now and then through the trees, keeping up the pace. The hufflepuff expected something of a close race today, depending on just what exactly awaited them in the woods. It would be dumb to think that it would be as simple as a race, especially considering the relative danger of the Forbidden Forest already. It would be nice to just have something as simple as a run when going through this thing though. Considering the relative athleticism of the rest of the competitors; however, she probably wouldn't fare all that well if it were.
That was when she spotted him. It was kinda weird, and irrational if she honestly thought about it. The Japanese girl just noticed a patch of blonde hair, and there he stood in front of her. Right away, she should've known something was off. He was still this small child, eight years old, wearing a burgundy t-shirt and baggy jeans. It had taken a moment, but she recognized the scowl on his face. Quietly, Yori slowed to a stop. Logically, she should've known this was a trick. She hadn't seen the boy in years now. He should at least be 16..
It didn't help anything when he spoke. ”You still just as weak as I remember you?!” he seethed, ”Maybe you won't be such a twat this time and you'll just go ahead and help me. You don't want me to tell everyone about how your brother's such a cocksucker again, don't you? Or I could just tell them all about how you're really like.”
Yori remained frozen, eyes wide, and lost. It was those emotions, of helplessness and vulnerability, that rooted her to that spot.

James was looking at Alaya for a moment, and then repeated the same spell from earlier as their efforts seemed to result in failure in the end. Sadly he was going to keep himself from actually starting to get depressed about having to be in last again, but he didn't mind. At least if any team won, it would at least be Hufflepuff, but he had no time to think about others considering he really just needed to focus on the task now. Even if the spell failed, he was still going to try over and over, so he kept on using the same one...even if he had to repeat these sentences over and over again. Just joking, but seriously he was hoping that their team would at least be able to make it past these pixies.
Honestly, how hard could it be to best these little things, but there were so many of them. Just an annoyance and he no longer wanted to really see pixies for a lifetime if he could avoid it. Knowing their luck they would get stuck with more pixies in the long run. Chuckling at the fact they would be held back by such miniscule creatures, James knew now to take them seriously if they hindered their progress any more than this. Sighing softly he would get used to not being the first ones to get to the finish line again. James would be sorely disappointed if the heavens weren't on their side soon.

Did she have a clue what the answer to the riddle was. Surely it would be an easy answer right? One that was made of common sense and not something ridiculous. But still he couldn't help but go over everything wondering if it was the right answer, the wrong answer, whether or not his answer would be too long or too short. Ugh why on earth did they have to end up with such a difficult creature, what made it worse was the sphinx wasn't a very offensive creature to begin with. Sending spells to pixies and such was easy, answering a riddle was a totally different story.
For a few minutes he sat on his broom, pondering on the answer that had stuck in his mind. Biting his lip, he was getting frustrated. They were wasting too much precious time and who knew how far into the forest the others were, who knew what creatures the other teams encountered. the only think he thought was that at least they wouldn’t have to run into another sphinx...or so he hoped.
He shot Theia an apologetic look before turning to the creature, opening his mouth and praying the answer was the right one. It seemed like eons before the sphinx finally moved. At first he thought it was going to attack them and he gripped his broom, ready to shoot up higher, out of reach. But the next thing he knew, the creature congratulated them and was allowing them to pass. Had it been a lucky guess, hell yea he thought. He let a sigh of relief out before urging his broom forward, knowing Theia would be following. One creature down, he thought, now hopefully they wouldn't encounter anymore.

There were more than she previously thought. They really shouldn't be that hard to deal with but she figured that this wasn't the time to get flustered over something so small. Sure she was annoyed but she wasn't about to let that show. She hadn't lost her temper in years and wasn't about to start now. No a level mind was the only way to get through this. She knew her spells so maybe there was a stronger one that she read about that could work against these little nuisances.
There was one she believed could work. She hadn't casted it before but figured this was the best time if any to try it out. "Impedimenta" She whispered, keeping her focus on the pixies. If this didn't work she would be more than tempted to just cut off the little creatures’ wings. That would involve some wolfish reflexes to do so but at this point in time she really wasn't caring too much about it. Sure keeping quiet for the rest of the year would be great but not necessarily essential to her plans later on.
She did hope that luck would be on their side soon. Coming in last place again was not very appealing. Also this time there was something important they were trying to retrieve. This time there was more at stake.

As the creature they were to face made itself known, theia gave a low growl of frustration. A sphinx? Oh brilliant. It wasn't that she didn't think her and scorp could figure out the riddle, it was more that she didn't want to waste the time it would take to get the answer. At least another creature scorp could have sent a spell it's way she theia could have sunk her jaws into it or something to that extent. Knowing that albus was out there somewhere, cold, alone ... In need of saving .. Simply fueled the fire in her heart.
She wondered if perhaps she could attack the sphinx and she lowered her head, almost in submission as it looked warning at her, then she growled low and bared her sharp, elongated teeth, but made no move to attack. It would be pointless, it was clear in the creatures gaze that if she attacked, theia would not come off lightly, and she couldn't afford to get hurt when she had to save albus. She gave a growl of frustration and huffed as the creature gave its riddle, the tigress's face managing a slight hint of a frown as theia thought, shaking her head slightly, too wired too impatient to really stop and try to figure it out.
She despised riddles. She glanced at scorp, thinking she might have an idea when he glanced at her and spoke it himself. She gave a small nod, glad they're were still on the same wavelength. The sphinx sure darned took its time and she couldn't help but snarl slightly with irritation before finally the creature said they could pass and theia was bounding forward once more, digging her paws into the earth and propelling herself forward as fast as she could. She needed to find albus.

Dunstable came to a stop when he saw Yori stop as well, but what he didn’t expect was that there was some kid standing there in front of them. Why was there a kid way out in the middle of the forest? He didn’t recognize this kid as any of the students at Hogwarts, but then again he didn’t know all of the younger students so perhaps it was one of them. But then he heard the kid talk to Yori, saying such awful things. Why did this kid think he had the right to say such things to Yori! She really was such a sweet girl that he thought was a good friend.
Instantly he stepped in front of Yori. “Hey kid! Back off!” but what he didn’t expect was for the kid to magically disappear and for his father to be standing there, so tall and staring down at him, as if his father was disappointed in him. That’s when it hit him, it was a boggart, not really his father. “Riddiculus!” he called out as he waved his wand and the next thing he knew was that his father was wearing a ridiculous clown suit. “Come on Yori, it was just a boggart, let’s go!” he said to the young chinese girl as he took her hand and then headed off into the forest, leaving the Boggart behind.

things began smoothly for the ravenclaw team. they set out through the forest, keeping an even pace with each other, occasionally glancing at each other to make sure that they were alright and didn't need a break. it was a little bit awkward, the silence, but jayce figured that claire must be off in her own world and not in the mood for chatting, which was okay with him. it just gave him more time to focus.
his mind kept mulling over the question of who would be waiting for him within the forest, labelled as 'dear to his heart'. jayce wasn't a social recluse of any sort, he was actually a bit of a popular guy, but he was close enough to label someone as 'dear to his heart' with very few people, and he'd seen most of them that morning before the task. the more he mulled over the issue spread before him the more concerned he became... he couldn't find himself expecting to be elated when his captive was revealed to him.
and then, on the path before them, appeared a goddamn redcap. he recognized the pestering little creatures from first year defence against the dark arts lessons, and figured it would be an easy task to dispatch it. a few spells out of his wand, a few out of his partner's, and the little bugger would be on its merry way, except that didn't seem to be the case. teeth gritted, jaycen hissed another incantation, the task of figuring out who was 'dear to his heart' was putting him in a bad mood, and watched as green sparks shot out of the end towards the creature. if this didn't get rid of it he was going to punch something.
