An hour and a half before the first classes of the day were to begin, the snow leopard that was the Transfiguration teacher was already prowling around her classroom, in between the rows of desks, sharp eyes making sure that the room was absolutely spotless for the next day’s classes. No doubt once the first hordes of students walked in for her first class, her OWLs class, it would already be a mess of paper airplanes and singes from spells gone wrong, but for the moment it looked neat and tidy, which was something Evangelina certainly valued.
Even for a teacher, being risen and active this early in the morning was unusual, but Evangelina had always been an early riser. Probably something to do with the ‘dark days’ when she’d been in hiding with her daughter thanks to her muggle blood. The little farm they’d stayed at for the year of Voldemort’s control had felt secure and within the witch’s control, but she’d still had the paranoia that came with being on the run. Each morning she had risen long before the sun and sat in her chair in front of the window in the tiny three room building, staring out at the yard, ever vigilant for the shapes of death eaters or snatchers or anyone against her to appear out of nowhere with a crack… thankfully no one ever had, the farm had been as safe as could be, but the habit of rising early still stuck with the elderly professor no matter how many years passed by.
Shifting out of her animal form by her desk, Evangelina took a seat and bent over the stacks of papers on the desk, homework assignments from the last week that she hoped to hand back to students today. For the next hour and a half the classroom was completely silent save for the scratching of her quill on parchment as she marked essay after essay, some far better than others. She only paused when she heard the bell ring, when she sorted her papers back into neat stacks, set her quill down, and waited for her students to file into her classroom for the day's lesson.

It wasn’t often the Charmian was on time for classes. If anything she was usually barely on time or a few minutes late. For her it was something that couldn’t be helped. She really meant to get to all of her classes on time but sometimes she got distracted. Usually it was by a fascinating prank she just had to pull but other times it was because she felt the need to go out of her way to bother her brother or cousin. It was Dante who got it the most as she liked to avoid Chun when it was possible.
Transfiguration was the first class of the day for her so she woke up early, dressed in her Gryffindor uniform, and headed down to the great hall for breakfast. If she didn’t eat it wasn’t likely she was going to concentrate well in any of her classes, and she didn’t have any breaks to sneak into the kitchens for something. It didn’t take long for Charmian to finish her breakfast and head towards the transfiguration classroom. She figured she’d be one of the last few in but was surprised when she entered to only see the professor present. Maybe she was early sometimes but there was no point in going anywhere now. Might as well sit at a desk and wait for the lesson to begin.
