evangelina was born to a happy little muggle family in london, england, just over a quarter of a century ago. she was the couple's first child, named evangelina alyson lesedi, and for the first few months of her life she got all of her parent's doting attention. when her younger brother, shea, was born a year and a half later, her parents say that she kicked and screamed to get attention back, but she was young and insists that this did not happen (though it is impossible for her to have the memory to be certain).

when she was ten years old, evan got a letter. it came in a pretty light blue envelope, decorated with sparkling sequins and the words 'beauxbaton's academy'. oh, and it was carried by an owl. yeah, evangeline didn't go to hogwarts for her schooling. once her parents got over the shock of suddenly having an owl swoop in an open window in the middle of their daily tv hour, they were surprisingly accepting to their daughter's... oddities.

evan loved beauxbatons. she made friends quickly, excelled in her classes, and watched every new thing in her new world with wide eyed fascination. she really didn't want to go home at the end of the year, and when she did she talked her parent's ears off of all of the things she'd seen. her parents didn't think there was a child better to be a witch than their daughter, though, like all parents, they were obviously biased. her brother never got any sort of a letter inviting him to some magical school, which caused a bit of a rift between evan and shea. it was understandable. shea didn't want to be left out of the wonderful world his sister was involved in... as it was, though, that might have been a good thing.

she had begun trying to become an animagus, as a joke among friends, in the middle of her fourth year. she really wasn't serious about the option, but then she figured 'why not?' and decided to stick with her attempts. she finally succeeded towards the end of her seventh year, though she waited a few months before officially registering. she took the form of a snow leopard with markings around the eyes that resembled the heavy makeup she'd taken to wearing around her eyes. with such an interesting magical power as she graduated hogwarts evan really felt on top of the world.

at first when evan left beauxbatons she went to st. mungo's. healing had always been an interest of hers, so she took an internship at the hospital to learn more about it and do some good. it was then that she got into a bit of trouble, meeting mr. daniel swanepoel. the guy was two years older than her, a pureblood durmstrang alumni who caught her eye instantly because of his looks and charisma. they were introduced through a mutual friend, a co-worker of evan's who happened to be the man's best friend. daniel was a quidditch player, a strong man in both personality and appearance, and it only took a few dates for evan to be hooked. daniel surprised her by proposing when they were twenty years old, and a head-over-heels evan said yes.

she'd been married and for about half a year when things turned sour. daniel began to show a side of himself he'd never shown while they dated. an angry controlling side that evan wasn't exactly fond of. it grew worse and worse, and evan, not generally one to keep herself down when others said to do so, fuelled his anger through her personality. it wasn't long until she was showing up for work on weekdays in long sleeve turtlenecks, face covered in powder to try and hide bruises brought on by her dear husband's hands. his best friend, the one who had introduced them and who evan had trusted, turned out to be the wrong person to confide the situation in. no sooner did she turn to the man and tell the truth than she returned home and was beaten to an inch of her life. when she woke on the floor, body screaming in pain and daniel nowhere to be seen, she made her escape. evan fled with nothing but her wand and the clothes on her back, running to her parent's house for safety.

returning to her job at st. mungo's, in evan's opinion, was out of the question. not with daniel's friend so close... so she began to seek other job opportunities, and set her eyes on hogwart's. they were in need of nurse's in their infirmary at the time, and evan was happy to apply. a month later, about the same time she was beginning her divorce with daniel, she was accepted for a position, and moved to the castle to begin a new life.

the potions position opened up about six months after evan joined the staff at the school, and on an impulsive sort of decision evan applied. as much as she enjoyed healing, she wanted a change, and apparently others thought she deserved the chance because she was quickly accepted as the new potions professor. she took to the position even faster than anticipated and found that she enjoyed teaching even more than she did her job as a healer.

quite a while later the professor who had been head of ravenclaw house retired as well, and evangelina was selected for the position despite never actually being a student at the school herself. this is her second year as ravenclaw head, and she's hoping it goes well.
