Dear Nicky,
Where were you today? I tried to find you to see if you wanted to take a trip down to Madam Puddifoot's in Hogsmeade, but your friends said you were out, and I couldn't find you in the Owlery or the Library... One would almost think you were avoiding me. Nah, I'm just joking, babe, but I do think that you and I are in some need of a bit of alone time... it seems like it's been ages since we spent time together, just the two of us, with none of your friends hanging around. Think maybe we can spend some time together tomorrow?
Love always, Regina

Regina,
Sorry about that, sweetie. Professor Swanepoele gave a huge extra assignment at the end of class today, and I must have been in my dorm room working on it when you came by. By the time my friends told me you had stopped by it was too late to see you.
A long time since we spent time together? The picnic at the lake on Wednesday didn't count, I suppose? I don't think tomorrow would work for me, but maybe Sunday we can each get away from our stuff for a while. I'll see if it can be arranged, I may have a choir club meeting, but if not maybe we can sneak away to Hogsmeade for a bit and go to Madame Puddifoot's like you want. How does that sound?

Dear Nicky,
Maybe you should talk to Professor Longbottom about Swanepoele. I'm beginning to think she has it in for you or something, Nicky. That's what, the third extra assignment in the last half a month that's kept you away from me? At least, I assume it was an extra assignment. Steffani Meyers is in that class with you, too, and she says that there was no homework at all today. What did you do to get the leopard mad? You should talk to your friends, too. I'm sure that they knew you were up in your dorm room; I don't know why they lied to me.
The picnic was cute, babe, but I want real alone time. The picnic was a bit too... open. Are you sure you can't get away 'til Sunday? Tomorrow? Saturday? I'm sure the choir club wouldn't miss you if you skipped one practice, too. I mean, it's not as though you need one more, you're already sooo talented... right?
Love always, Regina

Regina,
I don't think it's much to worry about, baby, really. Just an extra assignment here or there... it's helpful, actually; helps drill what we're learning into my brain. It's not worth creating a fuss over. I forgot your friend's in my class... she was probably out of the room when it happened. We were transforming cushions into oysters. Mine didn't turn out so well, which didn't make Professor Swanepoele so happy seeing as it was a review spell, pretty basic stuff. Anyways, I just needed to write a little essay on the spell, no big deal. Sorry it took so long. As for the guys, I'm sure it was an honest mistake. I just kinda disappeared anyway, not their fault.
Ah... I understand. I'll check my schedule in the morning and make sure, but I think Sunday's probably the earliest I'll have free time long enough to go to Hogsmeade. And I know you don't think I need the club, babe, but I enjoy it and it does help me. I'd hate to ditch them on a practice so close to Christmas, too, ya know? Thanks for your confidence, though.

Dear Nicky,
I still don't like it... I'm sure you were just having an off day- your mind was in other places or something. On me, maybe? It doesn't warrant giving you extra work... maybe I should go talk to Longbottom or Kingsley, if you won't. There has to be a rule out there about unfairly targeting a student. It wouldn't matter if I were the one to bring it up to Longbottom or Kingsley, anyway. Swanepoele never liked me; part of the reason that I dropped her class.
You know I'm your number one fan. Okay... well, I'll be free whenever you are, so just get word to me ASAP when you find out, okay? I miss you.
Love always, Regina

Regina,
Regina. No. Like I said, it's not a big deal. I don't mind a bit of extra work here or there... besides, Professor Swanepoele's not really as bad as you think she is, and like I've told you before you might regret dropping her class someday. Transfiguration is useful for pretty much every profession, and you got an E in your OWLs, right? You should have just stuck with it for another year or two. It might have done you a world of good in the future.
Sorry... you know I miss you too, babe. You know what, even if I do have choir practice on Sunday, let's go to Hogsmeade. We can make a day out of it. Go to Hogsmeade in the morning, come back after lunch, spend the rest of the day around the school together... an entire date of a day. Sound good?

Dear Nicky,
Like I said, the leopard never liked me. The only reason I did so well on my OWLs is because I did really well on the exam... it was a fluke as far as I'm concerned. I can't see myself going back to her class, babe, sorry. I won't need it in the future I've got planned for myself.
That sounds perfect! Maybe in the evening when we're back in the castle we could spend some time in one of the abandoned classrooms for a bit of alone time without your friends or mine barging in on us...?
Love always, Regina

Regina,
I wish you'd stop calling her 'the leopard', babe. It's disrespectful. She's a great teacher, really. Maybe her dislike of you was all imagine within her head? I mean, you know how you like to let your mind get carried away on you... it's hard to imagine Professor Swanepoele with a genuine hatred of anyone, especially a student. She might be hard sometimes, but I'm almost positive that she always only wants what's best for the student.
Zeus is an old bird, Regina. Ya know that our letters could easily be intercepted, even if they're only travelling between towers. So unless you'd like someone to catch a message and seek us out just to barge in, perhaps we should watch how much we plan over letters? But yeah, that sounds all good to me. We can plan more in person.

Dear Nicky,
Maybe in your views, but not in mine. I give respect to those who earn it, and she never has. It's not like she knows what I call her, anyway. I'm sure lots of students call her the same... after all, doesn't she start pretty much every class in animal form? It's just weird. Anyways, she doesn't concern me anymore.
Zeus is old... maybe I should switch him out for Hera? He seems kind of tired from all of this back and forth and we wouldn't want him falling asleep in the middle of our messages, right? Anyways, there are lots of abandoned classrooms in the school... I doubt someone would have enough patience to search them all just to find us together.
Love always, Regina

Regina,
Shhhh. On the topic of the Zeus getting our messages intercepted, imagine if a teacher found a letter tied around his leg with you badmouthing one of the eldest teachers in the school? It would suck for you to get detention over a simple letter. Maybe we should save the teacher talk for a time when we're together, face to face, so that there's no evidence of anything harsh that might be said for anyone to use against you, okay? I'm sure there are lots of students out there in the school who are jealous of you and would jump at the chance to use anything to get you in trouble.
...You know what I just remembered? Saturday's the masquerade ball. Anything I had going on then would be cancelled... are you signed up for the ball?

Dear Nicky,
Okay, okay, fine, I understand. I'll shut my mouth- ...or would it be 'lower my quill'? Anyways, you understand what I meant. I'll save the rants til we're alone.
Oooh, I forgot about that, too! No, I didn't sign up... after all, there'd be no guarantee that I would end up with you, and I don't want to get some poor fool's hopes up that he could get me. The idea of the masquerade ball is cute, and all, but I'm far more interested in the Yule Ball in December. I assume we'll be going together, right?

Regina,
Pfft, as though I'd even allow any guy to think they could steal you away from me for one second... you're stuck with me, babe. I'm not signed up for it either, though... why don't we move our date to Saturday? The rest of the school will be running around trying to get ready for the ball. We can sneak off to Hogsmeade, hang out on the grounds and in the village all day, and return in the evening when the ball's starting. Maybe we could head up to one of the towers for a few hours? I'll dress up, you dress up... we can make our own sort of ball date out of it, without the crowded Great Hall filled with countless other couples. Sound good?
Well, as long as you're not planning on breaking up with me, we sure are. What possible reason could I ever have for turning down an opportunity to bring my girl to a ball? It isn't some masquerade that's easy to skip out on.

Dear Nicky,
That's beyond perfect! If we can find an area close enough to the Great Hall we could listen in to the actual ball's music without really being a part of anything but us. It's perfect! Maybe you could arrange something with the house elves in the kitchen and they could even set up a bit of the ball's food somewhere else so that we could have some, too? A little ball-type dinner... I can't wait!
Great! I need to start looking for dresses.... Maybe Lace down in Hogsmeade will have a nice one. I'll see if one of my friends wants to come shopping with me before the Yule Ball. I would bring along you, but you can't be able to see the dress before the ball, so your help is out of the question.
Love always, Regina

Regina,
I'm sure I can arrange something, even if it's just a tray of food to be brought up to wherever we'll be staying for the evening. After all, house elves are always eager to help. I could probably ask for them to deliver a tray of food to the middle of the Forbidden Forest ever half an hour and they would bow and say 'of course, sir!'
It's a ball, not our wedding day, sweetheart. Therefore it's a ball gown, and not your wedding dress. The 'groom cannot see the bride before the wedding' tradition does not apply here. If none of your friends want to come help you shop, I'd be more than happy to step in in their place. I've gone with you to Lace before, haven't I?

Dear Nicky,
You could probably get them to get escargot and caviare... you never hear anything but a cheery word out of those guys, no matter how impossible the task you've assigned them is. I guess it is their job though, right? Why shouldn't they be happy at Hogwarts? It's far better conditions than many of them have likely been exposed to before they end up at the school.
Of course I know that; I'm not a fool! We are only in our sixth year. I'd just like to see the look on your face when I come down the stairs, hair and make up all done, dressed in some fabulous gown... it's all about the element of surprise, babe. The look on your face will be priceless, and I wouldn't ruin it for anything in the world. Besides, it's not like I'll have any shortage of girlfriends to come shopping with me. They love Lace as much as I do.
Hm... Zeus is really looking exhausted. Maybe we should let him rest for the night... want me to wake Hera up?
Love always, Regina

Regina,
Probably true, though all of those 'House Elves Rights' people would probably disagree... Kingsley treats the elves more than fairly, and I think it's probably hard for them to fake their smiles as well as they have if they're not happy.
Oh... fair enough. I guess I can wait 'til December. Just promise me that you won't taunt me with tales of your wedding dress just because I can't see it, okay? I can't wait to see how it'll look on you, though beautiful is a given.
Ya know... let's give both birds a break. It's getting late, and at this rate I think I might oversleep my first class tomorrow... why don't we go to bed and see each other at breakfast in the morning?

Dear Nicky,
Just because of that last sentence, I think I might not torture you with hints about the dress. I just hope that no other girls will have one like it at the ball. There's nothing worse than being the mirror dress image of another girl at a dance. I've had it happen to me before... humiliating.
Aw, okay, fair enough... I wouldn't want the poor owl dying on me, anyways, and I think Hera wants to hunt so she wouldn't be too cooperative to carry messages anyway. I'll get some beauty sleep.
Love always, Regina
