With a fresh salad in her tummy, which she had for lunch, Shailene made her way to one of her favorite places in the castle. Now most would consider her favorite place lame because it was just a class room but not any class was held here. This was where Choir club was and Shailene was the captain of it. She loved to sing and that was why she signed up for the club in her first year. She didn't care that sometimes she was teased for it seeing as signing wasn't the most popular thing to do around here. Sadly the choir club was left without a professor to lead the students and Shailene feared the club would be no more. She really hoped that it didn't.
Shailene walked around the classroom remembered all the fun times she had within these four walls. The laughs, the tears, and the hard work she put into it all, Shailene didn't want to give that up. It was going to be her second year as captain and she didn't want to let everyone down. She was going to have to go to each professor and ask them to save the choir club.
Standing in front of the piano she ran her hand across the smooth wood and sighed. "Please let us get someone to run this club." Shailene whispered lightly to herself. Pulling the long bench out just a bit so she could slip onto it she began to play a melody of the song "Lost In You" by Three Days Grace. It was a muggle song by a rock band but she worked on a melody that would work with the lyrics without all the drums and guitars. Her slightly long fingers glided over the ivory keys as she got lost in her own world surrounded by the melody.
Shailene started to hum the words but by the time she came to the chorus she was singing loudly unaware that someone was coming into the room.
"Somehow I found a way to get lost in you Let me inside, let me get close to you Change your mind I'll get lost if you want me to Somehow I found a way to get lost in you"

The sixth year Hufflepuff towered over a student, his eyes glaring evilly at the pesky fourth year Gryffindor, his wand pointed at the kid's chest for a moment before to tore it away and stormed off down the corridor and up a flight of moving stairs before he had the nerve to turn around and hex the kid, making sure the Gryffindor ended up in the hospital wing for weeks.
He had heard what had happened to the blood traitor Weasley during the Goblet ceremony. Oh how he wished he had been the one to do it, but sadly he had been cursing the goblet. His name hadn’t flown out of the thing, instead it was a mudblood and a Chinese girl that were chosen. How in Merlin's name was Hufflepuff suppose to win with them. Maybe he should have tampered with the goblet or even created a fifth house so that his name would surely get picked. He sighed, there was still plenty of ways of getting the goblet, professors and students back.
Lucian hadn’t realised where he was going, nor did he particularly care, until he heard a piano. He crept closer to the room where the music was coming from and slipped inside just as the girl began to sing. He recognised the music as muggle music. Was she perhaps a mudblood or was she one of those people that had parents that allowed them to interact with the muggle world, with his past world? He stood there silently, closing his eyes as he listened, finding his anger was slipping away for a moment.

The melody glided around the room, wrapping Shailene up in the comfort that music provided for her. It was familiar and warm but most of all safe. Whenever she sang Shailene felt safe and free letting all her emotions out in words put together by her or someone else. She would live here if she could or in one of her favorite novels. Shailene always preferred another world rather than her own, they all seemed so much more fascinating than hers even though she was involved in everything.
Shailene's fingers flew across the piano keys gently as the song came to a close. She let out a sigh as she played the final note to the song. Her right hand slide across the top of the piano feeling its smooth oak surface. She loved this piano more than anything in the world. It had been there for her through everything. "Thanks once again dear friend." She said as she patted the piano. Shailene stood up from the bench and pushed her long light brown hair out of her face. As she turned to leave Shailene stopped dead in her tracks as shock registered over her face. "Hi Lucian." Shailene said with a small wave.
Everyone knew who Lucian was. He had transferred over here for his two final years of magical training. Somehow he managed to get sorted into Hufflepuff but Shailene was unsure how. Lucian was always in trouble, pretty much the bad seed of Hufflepuff. He acted just like a Slytherin. But the most terrifying thing was that Lucian was a werewolf and a proud one at that. Shailene felt slightly uneasy being in the room with him alone but Shailene also had a heart. She didn't believe that people were born evil, she believed that they could be helped. Shailene looked at Lucian wondering what exactly his story was. She was certain there was good in him because Shailene couldn't believe that sorting hat wrongly placed anyone. "What are you doing here?" She asked with a smile wondering if he had caught her singing.

Her voice, it reminded him much of his mother's. Soft and innocent like and although he would never dare hurt his mother, he would crush anyone else. His mother was his world, she had been the one that stood by him, had raised him even with the werewolf genes and had loved him just for him, nothing else. On top of that she was the very thing that all wizards looked down upon, a squib. How could they hate something they didn’t understand, just because she had very little magic in her veins didn’t mean she was any less of a person. No, Lucian believed her to be the better person, the most strongest woman he had even known, he was absolutely proud of her.
Shailene's voice broke through his thoughts. Looking up at her, he watched her wave and wondered why on earth she would wave to him. It wasn’t like he was friends with her or anything. In fact he hardly had any friends, perhaps he was taking the whole 'lone wolf' thing more seriously than he thought possible. At least there were others like him at this school, kin in his eyes.
"What are you doing here?" He heard the girl ask. What kind of stupid question was that, he was in a castle that was a school, what else would he be doing here if he wasn’t trying to finish the 2 years of pure hell he had left of his schooling life? She shouldn’t be vague with her questions, anyone could have turned around and answered with the very thought he had. "Can't someone stand in a room without being asked that question?" he answered her question with a question. Well he didn’t actually answer her question but it was close enough to an answer she was going to get from him.

Lucian's retort came fast and quick leaving Shailene a little put off. Had she done anything wrong to be talked to in such a manner? Shailene thought her question was simple enough and in no way offending but it seemed as if Lucian took it in another way. Biting her bottom lip Shailene wondered on how best to answer his question without upsetting him for she was not looking to cause a fight but possible make a new friend. Shailene looked at Lucian through her hazel eyes trying to see past the hard shell. "I'm sorry. I meant nothing by it." Shailene said.
A strand of her light brown hair fell forward which she lightly tucked behind her ear so it wouldn't block her vision. "I only asked because I've never seen you in here before and was just curious as to why you were in the choir room." Shailene said hoping that this explanation wouldn't offend him. As she looked at Lucian and the rumors she heard about him, she wondered if he was truly as harsh as the stories said he was. Could she possible find a way to be a friend to him? Or him to her?

Lucian blinked, had he heard right, had she just apologised to him for speaking, that wasn’t the point entirely, just that she had apologised, said those two little words: I’m sorry. No one had ever apologised to him, not since he was bitten and it made him speechless. Yes for once the wolf was stumped. What could he say to I’m sorry, nothing. And then she went on to explain why she had asked.
Just because he hadn’t been in the choir room before didn’t mean he didn’t know where it was. Oh he knew alright, in fact he knew the castle like the back of his hand. He often wondered around, not caring if prefects caught him, a simple glare and threat often sent them away. He usually ended up bumping into the Ravenclaw mudblood Joshua Scitz, ah Lucian could walk right over that guy.
Well if she was after an apology of him then she'd be waiting a long time, instead he shrugged his shoulders. "I found this room late one night," his voice sounded a little softer than before and only then realised how much those two words had affected him. But it wasn’t from her she wanted to hear them from; he wanted his father to say them, to actually mean them as well, to be sorry he walked out on Lucian and his mother, taking the brother Lucian adored all because of what he was now. "I...heard you uh singing," he spoke after a moment of silence. Had she wanted anyone to listen, well that was too bad, he had heard and had to see would it was.

Just two little words from the hufflepuff girl made the vibe in the room a lot less stiff and just a tad bit warmer. It was possible that Lucian never heard the word sorry especially, if rumor were to have it, that he had never really deserved an I'm sorry before for he was the to cause the problem. But Shailene would have no part in rumors, she liked to judge people for herself. So what if he was a known werewolf that liked to go around threaten people almost as much as the Greybacks did? Lucian had never personally threatened or offended her so maybe, just maybe, the two might actually get along. Already he was showing signs of relaxing some which only made Shailene believe that they would be okay speaking to one another.
"Ah, I'll pretend like I didn't hear that. Don't want to be docking Hufflepuff of some points." She laughed lightly, letting him know she was only joking. She couldn't take house points from someone for just admitting they had been doing wrong Shailene actually had to catch them in the act. "It is a nice place to come to a night, I sometimes slip in here while doing patrols. But don't tell anyone that." Shailene said, biting her bottom lip. She had a tendency to say things that maybe she should keep to herself. She didn't want her prefect badge to be taken away. But not everyone could stay inside the lines at all times.
A pink tint came rushing to her cheeks. "Oh, you did." She said feeling embarrassed. Shailene never sang by herself, it was a choir after all and no one had solos or if they did they weren't long. Shailene always wondered if she had a good voice on her own or did she just sound good while others were singing. "Was I any good?" She asked nervously. She shook her head lightly before rushing to say, "You don't have to answer, not really, only if you want to. I'm not trying to fish for a compliment but...well I just sort of want to know." The words came tumbling out of her mouth so quickly the shade on her cheeks darkened to a light red. Shailene looked at Lucian feeling like a silly little girl, she had to bite her bottom lip again to keep the words from spilling out.

Dock house points because he admitted to wandering around at night, oh he would love to see her try. Like he actually cared about house points, in fact he was sure that the majority of them that had been docked came from something he had done. He was the bad apple of Hufflepuff so to speak and he absolutely did not give a damn. One could say it seemed like he enjoyed all of it, the threats, the intimidation and the power, and those people would have been right. "You do that," he shrugged; it wasn’t going to stop him. It hadn’t before and it wasn’t going to now. "I've been caught that many times, the other prefects are too scared to do anything." Well the only reason they were scared was because of him threatening them, "Let’s just hope you stay away from me during the nights." He meant that as a threat not as the warning it sounded like, still if she had any brains she'd turn tail and run back the way she had come if she spotted him during a patrol.
Was she admitting to doing something against the rules as well, perhaps he could corrupt her, make her as bad as him and well even the thought of nipping her on the full moon sounded good? For too long he had put up this loner act and now he wondered what it would be like to have anyone, one he preferably forced the werewolf curse upon. He couldn’t help but smirk at her.
Lucian caught the faint blush creeping up to her cheeks and chuckled. Why would someone get embarrassed from singing unless...no she possibly couldn’t have hidden that voice for so long, surely someone would have noticed just how good she was by now.
"Was I any good?" Did she really have to ask that question, had she not listened to her own singing? He sighed before she said that he didn’t have to answer. Not trying to fish for a compliment, oh but they way she had worded it, it did sound like she was after a compliment. "You were...good...great," he felt uneasy giving anyone but his mother compliments, in fact he felt uneasy being the nice guy, something he definitely was not.

Shrugging his shoulders he almost seemed to challenge her, asking her to take those points away. But in no way was she actually permitted to that's why she laughed after saying it. Shailene was quite aware of the fact that Lucian was one of the people on their list to watch for, one of the people that gave the most trouble if caught. Shailene had never personally caught him but she knew most others hated to run into him due to the threats he spit out of his mouth to them if they talked of detention. "It isn't our duty to be scared." Shailene said lightly. With Lucian's next words Shailene felt a little chill go down her spine, was he warning her? Or was that a hint of a thrill going down her back. "If I happen to run across you at night I will treat you like any other person I run into who shouldn't be out of bed. I'm sorry its my job and I have responsibilities to uphold or else I lose my badge." Shailene said, wondering if he could understand how important it was to her to keep it. Part of her wondered just exactly how that would play out if they happened to cross paths at night.
A smile broke out on her face when Lucian told her she was good, no great, that had really shocked her. "Thank you." She said sweetly feeling quite proud of herself. "I'm use to people telling me I'm good but they are my friends and could just be lying to be nice. Plus I can't hear myself, I sound different, especially if you try recording your voice." Shailene stated. "I figured if anyone would be honest, it would be you because you don't seem to mind hurting people's feelings. You say and do as you please...which I sort of admire and respect." Shailene mentally cursed herself for speaking more than she should again. She hadn't meant to really admit she admired him for his ways, it just sort of slipped out.

Isn’t their duty to be scared? Oh she wouldn’t be saying that if she found him, definitely not. "You would be, especially when the full moon is near," he spoke, this time making sure it sounded more like a threat. Werewolves were certainly unpredictable near and on the full moons, and although he hated the actual change, the full moon was a beautiful site. In fact he felt the full moon was approaching, possibly around the middle of next week. Well he had warned her, that was the best he was going to do, it wouldn’t be his fault if she fell prey to a werewolf at night.
She thanked him just because he had told her she was great at singing, well he didn’t take it to heart, it was an automatic response right and then she begun talking again saying that people tended to lie to her to be nice cause they friends. Admire and respect? Well everyone should respect him, he was a werewolf for Christ sake, he absolutely demanded respect just for that alone. But admiration, well he hadn’t really that about that and wasn’t too sure if he liked it or not. Perhaps he could use her admiration against her. And she was right about the whole 'not caring about hurting people's feelings'. He thrived on it actually. "Admire?" he asked, although he didn’t really expect her to answer it, "What sane person admires a werewolf?"

A large lump formed in her. Shailene was not a stupid girl and she was quite sure that those words were meant to be a threat. She glanced at the door wondering if she should take that as a hint to leave him alone and never speak to him again. The Hufflepuff prefect almost started toward the door but then another thought came into her mind. Was it really a thread to her or to anyone who might happen to run across a werewolf during the full moon? And what would a werewolf be doing inside a school during a full moon? "I know its really none of my business but aren't you suppose to be taking the wolfbanes potion every month or be removed from the school during the full moon periods?" Shailene asked because surely the school wouldn't put all these students in danger by having an active werewolf inside the walls. So it wouldn't be possible for her to run across him during a full moon.
It was funny that Lucian only thought of himself as a werewolf because when Shailene looked at him she didn't see that, he was a human, a wizard just like anyone else who just happen to turn into a werewolf during a full moon if he was without aid of the wolfsbane potion. So he questioned her admiration for the he carried himself. "Well maybe I'm just not a sane person." Shailene stated shaking her head lightly. "Have you ever thought that being a werewolf isn't all that is apart of you Lucian' She asked calmly, feeling a bit bad that he only saw himself as such a being.

Wolfsbane, ah the dreaded potion werewolves were meant to drink, ugh he couldn’t stand that stuff and so he tended not to drink it, no matter how many times the professors urged him to. Had they every tried it? Well if they had they wouldn’t want anyone to drink it, it was purely disgusting. As for going outside away from the population, well a wolf went where a wolf wanted to go, no matter what. "Just because a wolf if removed from the castle during the full moon doesn’t mean it’s not smart enough it get back inside the castle," he shrugged. No one was truly safe on the nights of the full moon. "As for Wolfsbane, try it yourself then ask me that again," he added, a silent challenge in his tone of voice
Oh she had that right, she didn’t seem very sane to him, in fact she seemed a little unstable. And what was with the nice, innocent act she was putting on, or was she like this all the time? Perhaps she hadn’t seen the harder side of life yet.
"Have you ever thought that being a werewolf isn't all that is a part of you Lucian." Obviously his history hadn’t made it completely around the whole school. Walking over to the piano, he took a seat on the bench. "When you've lived the life i have, being a werewolf is everything, it's my entire life now," he couldn’t help but look away from her. 3 people he thought had loved him had left, disappeared from his life, although he could never blame his own brother for leaving after all it hadn’t been his choice. Would she pity him if she knew, would she console him if he told her. Well he didn’t need nor want that.

Shailene shrugged her shoulders lightly, Lucian did have a point. Not that she was well aware of how a werewolf's mind worked but didn't most creatures have an innate ability of finding their way back home. But a werewolf's home wasn't the school...did a werewolf have any connection, mentally or emotionally, to their human counter part? Shailene was now very curious of the subject at hand but wouldn't dare ask Lucian a million question about this. He wasn't something to study but perhaps a bit of reading might help her understand more. "You do have a point there even though it makes me feel a bit unsafe seeing as we do have a high number of werewolves in this school." Shailene said partly musing aloud to herself. Shailene walked over to the window and sat on the sill becoming quite interested with the view outside. "That awful huh?" She asked. "You would think by now they would make potions that taste good, especially the ones that are sort of being forced onto other to take." The hufflepuff added.
For a moment Shailene wondered what exactly in his life caused him to think that being a werewolf was the only thing about him. Maybe he attacked someone, maybe he lost some people, or maybe he just never got over the fact that he was a werewolf. Shailene had no idea but she wouldn't push the matter. She was taught to respect a person's privacy. "How can it honestly be your entire life? Your letting it define you. Yes you may carry the title of a werewolf your whole life, but you barley spend six whole days out of the entire year in the wolf form. It doesn't control your life. You are a wizard and a human. Those two things are what you are mainly because you spend the most time as those two beings." Shailene said taking her eyes off the landscape and looking at Lucian who was now sitting on the piano bench. Her eyes were bright with passion, meaning every word she said. Shailene hated to see people let one title such as werewolf, vampire, or muggle-born run their lives. It didn't mean anything, not to her.

Of course he had a point, nothing could stop a werewolf if they were determined enough nothing except a powerful spell but even then they simply bounced back. And he loved the fact there were other werewolves here. Back in Beauxbatons it was a rare site to see more than a couple of werewolves at the school and even then they kept it a secret as if afraid they'd be shunned. Pft French people needed to stop living in their fantasy world and come back into reality, to know that werewolves were everywhere and that werewolves should stop hiding. Why hide the best part of people, it was just...wrong. He raised an eyebrow at her when she spoke about making potions taste better for those that are forced to drink it. Well most anyways. "They're too busy trying to perfect useless potions like amortentia," he shrugged. Surely there was at least someone trying to perfect it; perhaps that was what they done in the department of mysteries at the ministry. Would needed a stupid little love potion anyways, who needed love? It was a stupid potion in his eyes.
His eyes glanced over at her for a moment before looking away. What did she know about being a werewolf? Nothing, absolutely nothing. And it irritated him, how dare she preach about letting it define him when it was everything he was. Lucian narrowed his eyes into a glare and set them on the girl as he let her finish her speech. He didn’t expect her to understand what it was like either. "You're wrong; being a werewolf is everything, not just to me but other werewolves as well. It’s not some disease that can be cured, once bitten you're stuck with it your whole life. Because of the wolf, your life is changed and it does revolve around the wolf side. It changes you that much that if a vegetarian was bitten, they would have an intense craving for meat," he paused, taking his eyes away from her once more, why the hell was he explaining all of this to her anyways? "Without having being bitten I wouldn’t be here," ok that went a little too far, he needed to keep a check on what he was saying. "But you have no idea what it’s like being a wolf, perhaps I should change you, then you'd understand."

"Agreed." Shailene said know that most of the wizarding world's focus were on such frilly and fun spells and potions rather than working on the issues that really needed attention. But who would want to pay attention to the real problems when it was easier just to ignore them? Although Shailene was pretty sure that amortentia was a tasteless potion, or how else would people be able to slip it to someone else undetected, she wasn't about to point that out for she agreed that it was a useless potion. Shailene would never want to force someone to love her, it just wasn't right or natural. She just couldn't stand the idea of it at all.
Shailene adverted her hazel eyes, unsure of how to respond to what Lucian had just told. Maybe he was right, he knew more about than her. But she still wouldn't see him or anyone else, as just the monstrous label they were given. Right now Shailene wasn't sitting there having a conversation with a werewolf, in this moment he was just a fellow hufflepuff. "I understand. I meant no harm. Its just to me, I don't see a werewolf sitting her talking with me. I see a hufflepuff boy around my age." She said, not looking back at him. Her eyes stayed fix on the window. "I'm not sure I get what you mean about you wouldn't be here if you hadn't been bitten. You'd be whoever you were before it all changed you." Shailene said.
"You're right. I don't know what its like. But I can only tell you how I see it from my point of view just as thats only how you can explain it. But I'd prefer if you didn't change me because I'm not sure I'd want to go through everything that comes with being one. Plus would you really wish that fate on someone else?" Shailene asked finally turning around to look at him across the room.

Agreed? What was she actually agreeing to, that they people was messing around with other potions or that Amortentia was a useless and stupid potion? Or perhaps it was both. Either way he wasn’t going to press it nor did he wish for her to either. In fact he wondered why he hadn’t gotten up and walked out like he would have done with anyone else. He didn’t care if it was rude, nor didn’t he particularly care if anyone protested to him walking away from them. He figured that he was still there because it was nice to talk to someone; at least she didn’t seem to shy away from him, which in turn was a good and bad thing. Perhaps if she lost a bit of her annoyingness, she'd make a...dare he say it, friend.
She kept going on about how she only saw him as a boy, a Hufflepuff around her age and not a werewolf, ha wait until the full moon then she'd be changing her words quickly.
"I'm not sure I get what you mean about you wouldn't be here if you hadn't been bitten. You'd be whoever you were before it all changed you." She just had to go on about that didn’t she, she couldn’t simply take what he had said and left it at that. What did she want from him, the sob story of his life? Like hell he was going to tell her all that. How could she not understand what he had said, did he really have to spell it out for her. "If I wasn’t bitten, I’d be in school with those inferior filthy muggles," he spat out. Then again if he hadn’t of been bitten his life would have remained the same. His father and brother living happily with them and he was have still had his best friend. Just the thought of her made his throat tighten. No matter how many times he tried to forget her, he couldn’t.
Then she asked him the one question that was the easiest for him to answer, would he really wish the werewolf fate on someone else. Hell yes, his mind screamed at him. Turning to look at her in the eyes, he held her gaze for a moment, almost silently asking why she asked that when she should already know that answer. "Yes," he spoke the one word after what seemed like forever. He gave no explanations as to why he would nor did he want to.

Sitting on the window sill Shailene watched as the sun sunk lower in the sky creating a masterpiece with shades of purple, pink, blue, orange, and yellow. Sunsets were always so beautiful, Shailene preferred them to sunrises. "There is such beauty in the world." Shailene sighed to herself. Looking at something as breath taking as a sunrise Shailene always found it hard to notice the bad in the world, perhaps that was one of her flaws, she was a bit naive in the sense of trusting most people easily. Shailene had never experienced anything horrific in her lifetime but her life was just beginning. She enjoyed the moments of peace she was granted for she never knew when things would take a turn for the worse.
Time had moved on rather quickly while the two had talked but Shailene could see the conversation was dying between them. Or was it possible that she had just monopolized the conversation so much that she had killed it herself. But Lucian definitely striked Shailene as a type of person who didn't cherish the time words were shared between others, or at least not this sort of topic. It seemed to strain him more than it did her in sharing about themselves. Then again Shailene seemed to be the only one interested for he didn't bother asking questions about her.
Shailene had not expected such language to come from Lucian. It was rare to have a hufflepuff speak out against the blood types or muggles. Didn't he just admit that he was a muggle-born himself, how could one hate what he was? Shailene didn't understand but she wasn't going to press anymore about his situation. Shailene wasn't done being shocked by Lucian, far from it. Lucian had stated that he did wish his fate on someone else, which Shailene didn't understand at all. The painful transformations and the way that most werewolves are judged would be enough to never wish that upon someone else if it had been Shailene. But clearly Lucian was of a different nature indeed, but no matter how harsh he seemed Shailene was still curious by him. "Interesting." Was all Shailene said about the two comments he had made.
Shailene looked around the room for a change of topic and her eyes landed back on the piano where he was sitting as now. "Do you play? Or any other instrument?" Shailene asked curiously, hopefully this would be a better subject to focus on rather than him being a werewolf. Shailene figured if he just didn't want to be bothered he could leave and Lucian hadn't done that yet so she would keep trying to hold the conversation together.

What in the world was she going on about, had she completely lost the plot, one moment they were talking about him and werewolves then next moment she was going on about beauty. Surely she couldn't be saying that werewolves were beautiful. That was just...outrageous, werewolves were not beautiful instead they were powerful bloodthirsty creatures. He didn't bother commenting on her beauty statement, he figured he'd just let the insane girl have her moment.
Interesting, was that all she could say about him wanting to change another. Interesting? How was it interesting unless she secretly wanted to be changed. He rolled his eyes at her, Whatever he thought noticing the conversation had dried up. Maybe he should leave, leave the crazy girl to herself. But before he could move a muscle she asked if he played the piano or any other instrument. He had dabbled in a few instruments in his childhood yet since being bitten he had yet to play again. "I never learnt the piano, my...," he paused, gulping before continuing, "my brother was the one learning it. I learnt the flute and violin." his brother was the one that had the natural talent for the piano and even before he was taken from Lucian's life, he remembered that his brother often won awards for it. As for him learning the flute and violin, it had been his mother's choice really. She loved listening to those instruments and perhaps she hoped he'd be as good as his brother. "I haven't played either in 7 years." If she was hoping he'd play then she had another thing coming.

Waiting for an answer, Shailene pondered the idea of a werewolf playing an instrument. She found the image rather amusing and smiled at her own thoughts. Though she was not seeing Lucian just as a werewolf but the idea was silly enough she couldn't block it out of her head. From what Shailene had gathered she really thought that Lucian probably hadn't had any formal teaching in such things but she didn't want to judge before she knew any of the details. Once again she was surprised to hear that he did play, although not the piano, the flute and violin. But that was completely overlooked at the moment by the fact that he had a brother. "You have a brother? Does he attend here or did he graduate?" Shailene asked sort of excited to learn a bit more about him.
Lucian probably found her silly and easily excited but that was just her nature. She loved life and she never really thought to be sad about things that happened. Shailene always found pleasure in learning new things, rather about people or magic or whatever else she could possibly get information about. Perhaps this was why some people couldn't stomach her, she was too upbeat, but even that thought wouldn't dampen her spirit.
"How come you haven't played for seven years" She asked. Shailene could never imagine going that long without playing the piano. It would be torture.

Lucian sighed, she just had to pick up on that and ask about his brother, hadn’t she detected the hesitation he had given before telling her. Couldn’t she have been some normal person that didn’t inquire about everything he said? It was really starting to become annoying. Didn’t she have anything better to do then talk to him? Wouldn’t her friends worry about her, did she even have friends or was she a loner like him. No, he thought, she'd have friends, even with her annoyingness. Had a brother, he hadn’t seen him for years. He often wondered what his brother was up to, how he was doing but never had the courage to seek him out, what if he didn’t like what he found, what if his brother had become like their father? So many questions he wanted answers to and he was scared to get them. Yes the big bad wolf was scared. "Yes, no and no," he simply replied, his ears hearing the words harsher than what he intended them to be. He had a brother, he didn’t attend Hogwarts and he certainly hadn’t graduated. "He's younger than me, a muggle," he spoke. The only muggle he thought was decent, at least as a child he was. "He was taken from my mother and I because my pathetic father was too weak to handle his son being a werewolf. My father deserves to die," he spat. It was his father that had first sparked his hatred and from then on that hatred had been fuelled for seven years.
Why hadn’t he played for years, surely by now she had to have pieced things together or was she really one of the stupider Hufflepuffs? His eyes glanced at her, almost glaring. "Why do you think?" he asked. Stupid questions didn’t deserve proper answers. He had given her enough information to piece together and well if she couldn’t figure it out well then that was her problem.
