The masquerade, she had been a bit nervous about this event. The idea of being paired up with a random stranger was scary especially if she was paired up with someone she hated. She wouldn’t have minded being paired up with Poppy or someone nice, but of course the whole secret thing would make her keep guessing throughout the night. She had been looking for the right outfit for this event, and she finally settled on a purple strapless gown, and she happened to really like it. Her mask was beautiful itself, and well she felt like a princess when she was all ready for the ball. She was careful with the makeup, only applying small amounts and then she put on her mask careful to not mess up the makeup. She carefully tied the ribbons of the mask, she would have tried to put them into her hair but she knew that they would be taking the masks off at midnight so it would have been pointless to do that unless she wanted to undo her hair at midnight. The other girls were all running around trying to get ready themselves, and she had a feeling the other girls would be just like that. She made sure she had her wand in her bag, there was an enchantment on the bag to make sure that her wand would fit in there and she was on her way. It was impressive to see everyone so dressed up for a school event, and she wasn’t sure who to smile at because everyone was wearing masks already.
She walked into the great hall, and she was surprised to see that all of the big tables were gone. Of course they had been warned that they would be doing this, but it was different to actually see it. She got her slip of paper giving her the table number and she saw that there was a bit ten written on the paper. She scanned the room and finally spotted the table, feeling lucky that it was still alone. That meant that she had arrived before her partner, so she could at least feel a little more secure in that sense. She took a seat in the chair, placing her bag on the table as she waited to see who it was that she would be paired with. She was starting to feel nervous again, what if she got paired up with someone she didn’t even get along with? There were some people who thought she was completely ridiculous because she wasn’t a complete blood purist. Then again why did she have to feel so nervous, her mask was totally able to keep her face covered, and she had her hair up which was different for her. Maybe (if she was paired up with someone who wasn’t so nice) they wouldn’t even know it was her. She drummed her fingers against the table as she looked around at the tables that already had two people. Some people seemed to be having a good time already, while others were looking kind of bored.

[Running his hand through his hair Cade made to try and flatten it before walking out of the dorm room. He was dressed simple, all in black, except for the white undershirt, and on his face sat a white mask. it was simple, but it was Cade. He asnt a fan of dressing up, never had been and he never would be. He made his way through the common room, ruffling his hair slightly, it felt wrong when it was neat, it suited him messy. THe fact was, it was just him. He headed out of the common room and down the corridors, he passed students as he walked and he smiled at some of them, it was easy to see who he as. His mask didnt hide him, with his eyes and his hair it really wasnt hard to tell.
He headed towars the great hall, the vibe in the caslt was diffrent than normal. He couldnt hel pbut smile as he walked throught the doors into the great hall and he looked around for the table he was supposed to be sitting at. He had no idea who he was partnered with, he was hoping in the back of his head that it was Phe, but it didnt matter if it wasnt or not. Cade loved meeting new people and this wouldnt be any diffrent. He grinned and nodded at a few people and he stopped and chatted with a few people too. He wasnt one to shun people it they started talking to him, and he wasnt about to start doing it now.
Though when he glanced at his watch he saw the time he bowed out of the conversation to go find his 'date'. He didnt want the girl to have to wait long, that was if it was a guy, he didnt know, because looking aorund the room he saw some guys had been paired together, and he wasnt against that either. He rolled his shoulders and made sure his jacket was on straight and he moved to the table with his number on it. He smiled when he saw the girl sitting at it, and his hand moved in a wave to let her know that she was his partner. Well he hoped she was, she was sitting at his table, and he didnt want to make a fool of himself. "So . . we're paired together? . . well I can honsetly say . . I'm not dissapointed" He said as he held his hand out to her, to shake if she wished./justify]

She was starting to think that maybe she should have just stayed in her room, because this really had potential to be something bad. Especially if she was paired up with some blood purist snob that she just wouldn’t be able to stomach. Imagine having to interact with someone who was basically everything you hated in a person, until midnight. It would seem endless, then again maybe she would get someone who was really sweet and she would enjoy her night. But of course there were so many factors when it came to this event, if worse came to worse she could always pretend to be an elitist snob just for the sake of surviving. But masks came off at midnight and she would have to deal with the fact she had spent hours pretending to be someone she wasn’t. And of course there was the idea that she didn’t want to do that, because she would feel completely horrible about it later. After all mostly everyone knew that she was not a blood purist even if her family was pureblood, she in all reality wanted to get away from all of that. She was brought back down to earth from her thoughts when she realized that someone had approached her, probably her partner and she looked up to see a guy. He looked friendly enough and his words made her feel better, she had no idea who he was but he didn’t seem like a jerk.
“Well I can say the same” she said with a smile as she took his hand to shake it.
Well she just hoped that they would have things to talk about, because if not this would be a very terrible and awkward situation. But of course she was pretty adept at drawing out conversations from basically thin air because it was sometimes needed. You didn’t always get paired up with people you got along with and sometimes learning how to chit chat was a good thing. It allowed you to have a seemingly pleasant conversation with a person even if you didn’t get along. She motioned for him to take a seat with her free hand, just because it would look weird to have him standing and her sitting. Plus it would allow them to hear each other better because it was getting kind of loud in the ballroom. A lot of people seemed to be doing well with the people they were paired up with. Well it seemed to be going well in the sense that no duels had broken out yet, though she was certain no one would actually try to duel each other in the middle of a school event. It would earn you detention for at least a month, and probably a hearty deduction of house points that a lot of people probably did not want to happen. Even if the house cup was still far away, the more points you accumulated over the year, the better it was. She turned her attention back to her partner, unsure of what to ask first.
“Do you think we are allowed to at least give our houses or something?” she asked, “It’s going to be weird sitting with a person I’m pretty sure I don’t know without knowing at least a little about them”
