"What do your parents do?" theia raised one eyebrow and glanced at bradley. wow he was really going there? really? most people would have caught the tight tone and darkened expression and run for the hills. she had to hand it to him, he had some guts...the idiot. but she figured his bravery in continuing the parent conversation was worth an answer...she supposed. with a small sigh and a roll of her chocolate irises she swung her legs back and forth and looked vaugely at the wall. "dad's part of the wizenagamot at the ministry, and mum's a loyal for the department of magical law enforement.." theia shrugged lightly. she didn't think they were all that important and yet they acted like they were the top of the ministry and that theia should live up to them. half of her wanted to, half of her wanted to shove gaffa tape over their mouths to shut them up. she didn't much fancy continuing along this whole 'parent's' route for conversation so she didn't ask him anything along those lines in return, lapsing into quiet until she appolgised for her harsh remark. "No worries."she glanced at him and nodded slightly, glad he accepted the appology and settling, feeling calm again. she took a deep breath and centered herself, deciding she should probably stop treating the hufflepuff like an enemy now and perhaps be a little nicer? maybe? "I'll just start getting the next part ready." theia looked at bradley and nodded. "alright...want a hand?" she asked lightly, hopping down from her perch and glancing at him, knowing he'd probably be suspicious of her turn-around in attitude but hey, she'd resigned herself to her fate and figured she might as well 'suck it up' so to speak. but if he didn't like her new attitude temporary adjustment he could go figure, she was going to try and play nice - it was easy with albus, but then again he was her best friend .. even with scorpius she played nice - even if they did play fight verbally from time to time. so she'd just.. be nice..r to this guy too. try to anyway. ooc , honestly tis no problem : ) pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

[/s] Theia's parents worked at the ministry. Not that he was surprised, a lot of his schoolmates had at least one parent who worked at the ministry. Even the way that Theia carried herself he should have known her parents were in at least decent positions. "Do you want to work in the ministry after Hogwarts?"Bradley knew that he shouldn't continue to push his luck but he had this feeling about Theia. She couldn't be all that bad, not all Slytherins were, just a fair bit of them. "alright...want a hand?[/s] His head shot up at her words, preparing for the next step temporarily forgotton. He hadn't expected her offer of help. Bradley had thought that she'd try to take control of the situation again. His instinct of her being more than she presented herself seemed to be right on track. "Sure that would be great."[/b][/s] Going back to his book he started to check the color of the potion. It looked like it was going to turn out perfect after all. ooc; i'mnot sure which potion their making xD pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

"Do you want to work in the ministry after Hogwarts?" theia glanced at bradley and shrugged slightly. she didn't know - probably not though. she knew her parents wanted her to follow in their footsteps - be as successful as them, as respected as them. weird wasn't it, how they had all these expectations of her and yet they cared so little about showing any pride or attention to her. "probably not.." she asnwered eventually with a small frown. she didn't want to work with them, even if it meant a chance of making them more dissapointed in her by her going off and doing her own thing. "you?" she asked, not really sure about this topic but figuring she might as well ask the boy in return anyway. theia glanced at bradley, easily taking note of his surprise and biting back a smirk. oh so she'd surprised him, she thought as much. "Sure that would be great." theia raised an eyebrow slightly in faint surprise herself. she'd half expected him to throw a disdainful comment at her and push her aside. huh. so he wanted to play nice too? alright then. with a small nod, face impassive, theia bent over her book and glanced at the potion. well it was right on track. they just needed to add some wormwood and stir. "want me to add the wormwood?" she asked simple, glancing at bradley as she made to reach for it. ooc , : ) neither do i... hmm maybe .. draught of living death? i know we made up the steps before but -shrugs- clickypic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

"probably not.."
[/s] Bradley would have assumed that she would be the type of person who enjoyed the power one could acheive by working at the ministry. Still he supposed that she knew better than anyone what she wanted to do. And that obviously wasn't at the ministry. He could actually see her doing something useful, perhaps she'd open her own shop one day, or even become one of those models he often saw on posters and magazines. "you?"[/s] Bradley had always wanted to work at the ministry at some point in his life but recently he had begun to toy with the idea of working at a dragon reserve, although most likely he would end up working in the department and regulation of magical creatures, he wasn't sure he was up to working in law enforcement or anywhere else for that matter. He'd have to decide soon, NEWTs would be there before he knew it. "I'm undecided really."Bradley was relieved that Theia wanted to play nice for now. He could have made some comments at her but he didn't want to get her back in a mood. He liked her much better playing nice. It would make being lab partners in potions that much more enjoyable. Or at least bearable. "want me to add the wormwood?"[/s] They were brewing the draught of the living death, a potion coincedentaly used by Juliet Capulet when she faked her death in the muggle story. Too bad her Romeo didn't get the message. Still it was a potion that could go terribly wrong if it wasn't brewed correctly. And so far so good, they hadn't gone wrong yet. "You go ahead. I'll work on the sopophorus bean." Bradley wanted to tell her that he much preferred her this way but thought better of it as he started to prepare the bean to be put into the potion. ooc; xD we'll just pretend we did all the steps right. pic credit; beth@caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

"I'm undecided really." theia glanced at him and nodded slightly. she figured he would want to work for the ministry - have some humble mediocre position in the grand scheme of things. maybe that was being harsh - but hey! from what theia had seen of the boy he didn't really seem to care much for high power, or have the ambition to go for something like minister. hmm .. that was probably the only job theia would consider. oh not for the high power - no that wasn't what she wanted. she just wanted that level of respect. hmm and to have so many willing people at her disposal.. nah. ministry work really didn't appeal to theia, the only reason she half debated it was for the sake of her parent's affections. not that it really worked anyway. she glanced at bradley as she took up the wormwood and prepared it for the potion. "You go ahead. I'll work on the sopophorus bean." she nodded once, long hair falling across her face as she bent over the work desk slightly to deal with the ingrediant. after this it would pretty much be finished - just the adding of these two ingrediants, a quick stir until it was clear as glass - and voila! theia finished preparing the wormwood and added it to the potion, using her wand with a small deft motion of her wrist, to stir the ingrediant in. "done" she said simply, glancing at bradley expectantly for the bean. so she may have decided to be civil but that didn't mean she was going to talk non-stop to the guy about things. if he wanted a proper conversation he could go over to one of his little huffie friends, couldn't he. ooc , : ) hehe okay sounds coools xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

It wasn't all that hard to work with Theia when they could get along. Well technically they had only worked together just this time but he wouldn't put it past the professor to pair them to annoy them in the future. It just seemed like the sort of thing a professor would do just to get people to get along. The potion was coming along rather nicely and with only a few steps left to go he hoped that they could get through their remaining time at least getting along, or at least continue to play nice. Bradley still would have liked to have conversation, it was rather boring to continue in silence but he figured it was a good first step. They had stopped battling with their words and were working together nicely. He almost wanted to rub it in her face that she was getting along with him, a hufflepuff, and it still wasn't hard. Wisely he knew better and kept his mouth firmly shut.
"done"
[/s] theia had quickly and efficiently prepared the wormwood and dumped the ingriedient into the potion. Bradley watched as the potion turned the proper shade and stirred it once as instructed before turning back to the bean he was supposed to prepare. Taking his knife he very carefully sliced the bean and poured the juice into the potion. If he had read correctly all they had to do was let it simmer a few moments before taking a vial of it up to the professor. If they had indeed brewed it correctly it's appearance would take on that of clear water when it was finished. Bradley didn't want to admit it but he couldn't take a failing mark, it just wouldn't do. Anything less than an acceptable grade wouldn't do, but he wasn't going to worry about that yet. "It's just left to simmer for a moment or two." There was no reason to tell her he supposed but it was better than staying silent the whole time. Now all they had to do was wait. The least he could do was prepare a vial while he waited, and he did just that. Marking his and theia's name clearly on the vial there was only the need to fill it with their soon to be completed potion. ooc; sorry i was having muse and computer issues. xD pic credit; beth@caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

theia stepped back slightly and watched as bradley sorted out the potion with the next ingrediant, then stirring it. her gaze watched the colour changing, become the shade it was supposed to be and she gave a tiny, almost inperceptable nod of approval. things were going to plan - excellent. she was never one to allow herself to get a fail mark. especially in potions. everything was about making her parents approve of her life, and passing with good marks - the highest marks possible if she could - was essential. "It's just left to simmer for a moment or two." theia's gaze flickered to bradley and she nodded, watching briefly over the potion before gazing at everyone else with vauge interest. no one else seemed nearly as close to finishing as they were, and no one's potiion seemed quite as perfect. theia allowed herself a small smile - a break through bradley must have been thinking. honestly, he wasn't as bad as he looked. " i reckon we did pretty well, good work." even a small compliment. that was as far as she was going. she checked the time and made to pour some of the potion into the flask that bradley had readied. "thanks." she said, having thawed more than usual toward the boy. "i'll take this up to the front." she said simply, indicating the vile of their potion and heading up to the proffessor's desk. she handed it over, smirking slightly - confident as ever - then weaved her way back to their desk to help bradley clean up - something she wasn't against. after all, you couldn't just leave things out all over the place..what a disrespect. ooc , tis okays !! hmm so did you want to finish the thread with bradley, ooor want us both to go once more to finish ooor just this one end it? -doesn't mind- pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

" i reckon we did pretty well, good work."
[/s] Bradley was inclined to agree with her. Looking around the classroom it was easy to see that the other pairs had yet to even come as far as them, or for it to even look close to what it was supposed to. Looking down at their own potion he could easily say it was close to perfect, if not completely perfect. "good work to you as well, we make a pretty good team." When they were forced to work together Bradley had his concerns but through all the arguments and first reluctance he found it was all worth it. The mark would be great. And Bradley didn't like to setting for anything less than that. He may not be a Ravenclaw but he did take pride in his work. He wouldn't mind working with her again, although that was one thing he wouldn't say aloud. Theia might not like it and he'd rather not get her angry when they had been fine for awhile. "thanks."[/s] Bradley nodded, it wasn't really any problem. They were partners and partners worked together. Like he had said before, they made a good team when they could look past the whole hufflepuff and slytherin houses. "i'll take this up to the front."[/s] He would have gladly taken it up for her but she had already headed to the front before he could say anything. Shrugging he began to clean up the mess. He knew it wouldn't due to leave a mess for the next group of students to clean up. It wasn't long before the two had cleaned up. With the potion turned it there really wasn't much for them to do and class was almost over. Bradley had decided it was time for him to head out. He had a free period after and he had some things he had better get done. "I think we're done." Packing up his bag he looked down at the desk again. "I'll see you around Theia. Maybe next time I'll get that autograph." He was joking but he wasn't sure if she would catch that. Either way he knew he would be seeing her around. Next time he would tell her she wasn't as bad as she wanted to appear to be. ooc; so this will probably be bradley's last post, but you can post one more time with theia if you want. xD pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]
