theia fluffed her curled hair, running her fingers through the dark chocolate, silky texture and flipping it back over her shoulders as she peered into the mirror. she double checked how she looked, brushing a small peice of lint from her slytherin robes, and flashing her reflection her usual charming, winning smile that was all it sometimes took for someone to suddenly become her best friend. she'd been told she could be charismatic, even without realising it, without meaning to. she kept the smile as she turned away from her reflection and headed down into the common room, just having the mind to grasp the strap of her expensive handbag and swing it onto her right shoulder. she noted that the room was empty and she rolled her dark brown eyes in annoyance. so not one of her friends had waited for her? classes. she frowned, the smile diming as she knew now she'd need to walk all by her damn self to potions. that sounded so vain, so arrogant. but that was her. theia thrived off the knowledge that others liked her - off others admiration and respect and awe of her. it wasn't her fault, it was her parents who'd made her that way. it was what happened when your own family rejected you, didn't love you or care for you or pay attention .. it caused her to become a woman in desperate need of attention and admiration. it made her who she was. she couldn't help it, and she hid it well. hid her insecurities with ease. she shook her head slightly and headed down to the dungeons for her first potions lesson of the year. a sigh dragged from between full parted lips at the thought of another whole year - even if potions was her favourite class. she slipped into the classroom slightly late, ignoring the proffessors look and heading over to a spare seat at a table right in the center, right next to an empty seat rather than picking one next to her friends. she wasn't that close to them - even if they thought she was their best friend. she pulled her things out of her bag and drummed her fingertips on the wooden table top, waiting for the lesson to start and find out what they were doing this lesson. ooc , hope this is okay?? pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

Bradley stood in front of the mirror in his dorms, trying to quickly tame his hair to lie flat on his head. Already he was the last one in the dorms but he refused to go out looking like a right mess. He knew that he spent more time on looking good than was probably normal for a boy his age, but he liked to look good. Finally getting it to lay just right he pulled his robes over his hufflepuff vest. Picking up his schoolbag he threw it over the shoulder before heading down to the common room. Finding even it empty Bradley knew that he really was much later than he thought. Already Lyra and the rest of his friends were gone from the common room. How early had everyone else gotten up? Most importantly how late was he?
The night before he had stayed out late, flying around on the quidditch pitch. Although he wasn't on the team he found flying and quiditch in general to be quite fun. Late as he was he refused to go most of the day without something to eat. Luckily he had found the entrance to the kitchen years earlier. Sneaking up into the kitchens he grabbed a couple of slices of toast from the house elves before hurrying back down to the dungeons where he was now really late for potions.
Slipping through the doors he ignored the looks the professor was giving him and slipped into an empty seat beside a girl. Not really caring at the moment he dropped his bag beside him and pretended to be interested in what was being taught. He'd probably end up losing house points or getting detention. Probably both if he did things right. Bradley honestly didn't know why he bothered to take potions at all, except that he had to take a few classes for his N.E.W.T.s, it was always best to have a couple of different options.

as she heard the stool scrape as someone made to sit down, theia flickered her gaze toward the stranger, dark chocolate irisis peering up from beneath thick dark lashes. her gaze traced the touselled dark sandy hair, the blue eyes, the broad shouldered roughly 5ft8 (she was good at guessing) height, and then flickered away disinterested. hufflepuff. whilst she wasn't completely opposed to friends in other houses - not much of one for blood status or house rivalry - theia didn't always accept those outside of her house. you see the thing with theia is that she wasn't the averyage slytherin. she didn't plot and slyly plan others demise, or to get gryffindors in trouble or do pranks and such. sure, she could be cunning at times, but she was more vain and focused on keeping herself to herself whilst being surrounded by people. she was a crowd sort of person...as long as the crowd was there for her. so you see, a lot of people dismissed her because she wore the slytherin's robes proudly, therefore believing her to be cold, cruel and in leage with bad people, and yet if theia deemed them worthy she might attempt to draw them in. she seemed to have that charm and charisma, and often she wondered if she'd been better adjusted to perhaps hufflepuff... maybe even gryffindor. but honestly, what did it matter. she glanced up, curls tumbling over her shoulders at the sharp movement as the proffessor called her name, and then spoke the name of the person next to her, telling them that they would be working together before moving on to pair everyone else up. theia frowned, the movement creasing her forehead as her dark chocolate gaze flickered to the handsome (what she wasn't one of those people who wouldn't admit someone was good looked, even if it happened to be her enemy) guy, then back to the proffessor. "do we have to?" she asked, unimpressed and interrupting the teacher as he was mid-sentance on what they were doing. she was reprimanded with sharp words and a frown, and so she deigned herself to working with the guy. "i'm theresa. don't call me that. call me theia or tessa or whatever." so she was a little sharper than usual, owing to the fact that she didn't honestly want to work with some guy - she didn't like to share her work, she liked to be able to work by herself, expand her ideas and continue with her set method and all. not have to work with someone. so yes, she was sharper than usual, and probably confusing by her name throwing out there, but honestly, she didn't care what people called her...as long as it wasn't theresa. urgh her lip curled at the thought of it... ooc , nooo it's cool, take ya time (: is it alright that i just made up some proffessor ?? pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

Bradley really should have chosen a different seat. Judging from the looks the girl beside him had received he was more than likely to get into detention before the end of the class. Honestly he should have probably just skipped it. As the professor told them they were to work together he heard her ask if they had to.
Taking a glance over at the girl he had to admit she was good looking, although so far her attitude towards working with him was less than to be desired. Bradley really didn't care which house she belonged to, although judging by her robes he found her to be a Slytherin. All that mattered to him was he at least attempted to get through the class without losing points and to manage to get a decent mark. He wasn't going to let some girl get in the way of that.
"i'm theresa. don't call me that. call me theia or tessa or whatever."
[/s] He watched her carefully as she said her name and wondered if that's why she was in such a bad mood. With a name like Theresa he'd be a little irritated as well but he'd been lucky enough to be born a guy. If he was going to be working with her he might as well be on at least a nice first name basis with her. "Theia, I'm Bradley. You can call me whatever." It didnt' at all bother him what she might decide to call him, most people just shortened it to Brad anyways. "Let's just get to work." He really wasn't looking forward to working with this girl but hopefully his impression of her was wrong and they would get along well enough to work together without too many problems. ooc; yay! it's done. And it's alright you just made up a professor. pic credit; beth @ caution [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

theia sighed and put her head in her left hand, leaning forward and watching the proffessor sweep past them with an irritated, heavy gaze. she couldn't believe that damned teacher was doing this .. he knew how much theia liked to work by herself in potions. with a frown, she took her hand away from her hand and sat straight, brushing her tumbling dark curls over her shoulder to move it out the way and glancing toward the fair headed boy beside her as he finally spoke. "Theia, I'm Bradley. You can call me whatever." she looked at him for a few moments then nodded once and looked away, disinterested. sure, she was usually quite sociable and charming and charismatic, but when it came to her work, and others who weren't slytherins and people she wasn't interested in to have around then she really didn';t care. she knew it was a bit of a defensive mechanism, but it was hidden by supposed arrogance and ignorance. yet she didn't really care. "Let's just get to work." theia frowned at him slightly, not liking being given an order and definetly not like him trying to take control. she stood, pushing her stool back out the way so she could work later. potions was her element, and no way was she letting him even try to take over. raising her chin slightly in stubborn defiance, she turned on her heel and made the get the ingrediants, having already checked what they needed and not bothering to mention anything to bradley. she weaved through the tables to head back to her and .. bradleys. urgh, sending a flirting smile to a fellow slytherin boy who was watching her move, and finally reached the table she was working at. she put the stuff down and glanced toward bradley with raised eyebrows. " what are you waiting for? an invitation ? guidence? " she asked, sarcasm dripping from her words, knowing she was being worse than usual but unable to help it. ooc , hehe cools xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

bradley had simply watched as the dark haired girl beside him looked at the professor. what was the big deal for her to work with him? sure he wasn't as bright as a ravenclaw but he scored decent enough grades to have made it this far in his schooling. his hard work had paid off and he'd always pulled his fair share of the work when working with the partners he had been paired with. why couldn't he have been in class with lyra or even jos? they would have been so much better than the girl sitting beside him.
she hadn't said anything to him when he had told her his name. she had simply looked him over and looked away with disinterest. already he could see that she was arrogant, unless she somehow managed to magicallly change by the end of the class. perhaps she was one of those blood purists who simply didn't associate themselves with half-bloods, or enough of a hardcore slytherin to care that he was a hufflepuff. no matter he decided to just open his book and ignore her. maybe she'd go away and do her own thing.
looking over his ingriedients list on the page before him he heard the scarpe of the stool as she stood and he looked up and watched her get all the things they would need. bradley didn't like paying attention to the girl when it was obvious that she had such a distaste for him but he was curious to observe her, look for a sign of anything that might prove one of his theories one way or another. just as he was about to look down again when he saw her flash a smile at another boy, who he discovered to be a slytherin as well by looking at his robes. maybe it was a hardcore slytherin thing then.
" what are you waiting for? an invitation ? guidence? "
[/s] everytime she spoke or even looked at him was started to get to him. was it really so hard to work nicely with him? obviously so. "hoping for a new lab partner, one with a less snotty attitude." knowing he would most likely pay for the remark he couldn't find himself to care. looking down at the instructions of the book he decided not to speak to her and just get started, preparing the first ingriedient as explained. ooc; xD, i'm on a posting roll! pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

she frowned as she felt her 'lab partners' eyes on her, and glanced at him, chocolate eyes anything but warm as she shot him a warning glance, wanting him to stop trying to analyse her or whatever he was doing. as she looked away she caught her fellow slytherin's gaze and rolled her eyes, silently communicating hufflepuff's -sigh- and smirking lightly before looking down at her open workbook and tracing the instructions quickly. "hoping for a new lab partner, one with a less snotty attitude." she heard bradley finally respond and instead of getting pissy for him saying that, she smirked and let out a small giggle, shaking her head. she was the kind of person that apprechiated another person with 'bite'. she hated those who never bit back.. they were boring and weak and pathetic. she at least respected people who'd talk back .. unless she hated them - like olivia - then they were just goddamn annoying. "oh so you do have a backbone! and here i was thinking you were just going to take crap all lesson." she half smirked, thawing perhaps just a little as she peered at the first instructin and went to complete it, still wanting to take over the experiment - bradley or no bradley. she started chopping up roots and studiously ignored him whilst she focused on her work, choosing that over conversation as she chopped efficiantly and neatly and then swept the cut roots into her hand and then placed them into the cauldron, glancing at bradley as if silently asking if he wanted to do the next part - yes she was comply to be a little more.. polite she supposed. ooc , IKR! -applaudes- pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

this might just prove to be an interesting lesson even though lyra wasn't with him during the class. he had seen the look that theia had given him and it only made him all that more interested in staring at her. it seemed to bug her and it made him just a little bit happy to piss her off, or at the very least annoy her greatly. it would be well worth the detention if he managed to get into a fight or argument with her. the professor didn't really like him much.
"oh so you do have a backbone! and here i was thinking you were just going to take crap all lesson."
[/s] bradley saw her half smirk and he just shrugged in response. of course he had a backbone and if she continued she was going to find otu just how much of one he had. maybe they would both be in detention later. oh the possibilities. theia had set off to work and he kept on just reading the instructions, letting her have her way for a time. he knew what he was doing having read most of the textbook out of boredom one night. he happened to look up and saw theia staring at him, as if waiting for him to complete the next step. he hadn't expected her to want his help at all. she seemed determined to do everything by herself. sweeping his part of the ingridient he had already prepared he put it in the cauldron and used his wand to stir as instructed. "see it's not so hard to play nice." maybe he had been wrong about her at first. she wasn't so bad now even if she wasn't pleasant. he was determined to get a feel of her real character and personality. ooc; sorry it's not so good and not so long pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

theia sighed, running a hand through her hair in a lazy motion and looking at the curled ends in disinterest, before pushing it aside again. she wished albus or scorpius could have been in this lesson, they were the only two she'd really consider good friends of hers. albus in particular. but, alas, here she was within this stupid lesson, and all she had was a fellow slytherin across the other side of the room, who she couldn't honestly remember the name of .. and then this annoying hufflepuff here as her lab partner. she could feel his eyes on her, but her face remained impassive, not really that bothered. she was used to people staring, so he could carry on all he liked. " if you want a picture, you just have to ask. " she smirked, aiming the words at him despite the fact she was looking over the third instruction, just casually passing the comment as she noticed him staring. she hoped it'd put him off doing it again, it was a little on the annoying side, even if she was used to it. she glanced at him as he got the hint that it was his turn, and watched him critically as he put in the next ingrediants and began to stir. "see it's not so hard to play nice." theia looked at him and raised her eyebrows delicately, eyes grazing over him as if he was nothing, showing a hint of disdain as though she'd forgotten all about him and only just remembered. "having a go at patronism i see... doesn't become you well, brad. i think you should quit whilst you're ahead, before you annoy someone." she said, her voice extra sweet, flashing him a smile that clearly showed dislike beneath the beauty of it, and then she turned to take over the caulron for her part of the work, ignoring him completely as she concentrated, wanting to get it right. yep a slytherin who worked - it was abormal, but then she wasn't all that much of a normal slytherin deep down. once she'd done her part, she backed off again to allow the kid a chance to redeem himself again, gazing around the room and sighing, having too much time right now to think back to that stupid letter her parents had sent her the other day .. ooc , nooo it's cool! : D pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

bradley knew well enough that continually staring at someone was rude. if his mother had been around she would have even pointed it out to him and made him apologize. he wasn't sorry for staring at her. most people who might observe him might believe that he was interested in her or even thought her to be beautiful, which was not the case in the least. he was curious about her and wondered if perhaps there was more to her than she liked to present. it wasn't until she had spoke that he realized he had been staring at her longer than he thought.
" if you want a picture, you just have to ask. "
[/s] bradley turned away and focused on his potions book once more. maybe he should have just moved seats or left the class. but he wasn't a coward and he was more curious and stubborn now more than anything. "So you happen to just carry pictures of yourself around? That's not vain at all." Decidedly ignoring her he looked over and prepared for the next step in the potion, knowing that would at least keep him from staring at her for a short while. "having a go at patronism i see... doesn't become you well, brad. i think you should quit whilst you're ahead, before you annoy someone."[/s] checking the potion to see if it was the correct shade of turqoise bradley looked back down to the book to check to see how much of the juices needed added from one of the roots. "wasn't really having a go at anything. merely stating a fact of it's not hard to be nice to someone."As she stepped away from the potion seeming to let him take over this part for now he carefully added the correct amount of jucies. something told him the professor nor theia would be very happy if he happened to explode the potion or something. observing her once more he seemed to notice a change, like she was thinking of something unpleasant. he was probably putting his nose where it didn't belong but he was like that sometimes. "you alright there?"ooc; pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

"So you happen to just carry pictures of yourself around? That's not vain at all." theia's lips curled up in an immitation of a smile, but it only appeared as a smirk as she glanced at the potion and noted that it was pretty much right on track to being perfect. she shrugged languidly. "they're for all my adoring fans." she said, tone clearly expressing her lack of interest in said people, her distaste for those who hung around like vultures, even if she did encourae them. there were few theia actually called friends, other than that the others were just stepping stones to her parents, ways to make her parents perhaps admire her for her connections or power or authority of population. so far, it hadn't worked. "wasn't really having a go at anything. merely stating a fact of it's not hard to be nice to someone." theia rolled her eyes and turned to look at bradley with a hint of annoyance, raising an eyebrow in slight disdain. "oh dear boy, you couldn't be wrong. it's such an incredible effort, and sometimes, energy can't be wasted on such idiocy as being 'nice'." she sneered, patronising him, having been sucked in to one of her irritated moods again and she made to start on the next instruction after him, just about catching his next words and suddenly needing to bite back a snarl. "i'm fine." she snapped, disliking that he'd asked for two reasons - one, that he'd even dared to try and connect with her or whatever he was attempting, and two, that he thought he had a right to know anything about her. "keep your nose out of my life." she added, still snappy. she knew she was being overly-defensive, but she was that way with anything conserning her parents and their treatment of her and who she was deep down. she'd only ever spoken to albus about these things, nobody else - and nobody else was going to know either, particulary not this ridiculous hufflepuff boy. angrily, theia threw the next ingrediantly into the potion, stirring it so roughly, movements so jerked, some of the light liquid sloshed over the sides, hissing and sizzling on the worktop when they splashed down. some of it cause theia's arm and she jerked her hand back with a quiet wince of pain, shaking it off quickly and ignoring it and the boy completely. ooc , xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

[b"they're for all my adoring fans."
[/b][/s]bradley merely shrugged, not really caring that she had adoring fans, whether that was true or not. he had meant it to be more of a joke although the smirk upon her face made him think that she really did have those sort of people around her. "you should really do something about that. unless i really should be honored by your prescense." there was something to be said by that, before today he hadn't really known who she was and he was sure if she was someone that important he would have at least of heard of her before now. who would want people like that around them? "oh dear boy, you couldn't be wrong. it's such an incredible effort, and sometimes, energy can't be wasted on such idiocy as being 'nice'."[/s] it was a wonder to bradley that anyone would want to be around the girl at all, her attitude left him believing that he should just skip out on the rest of their class. after all the potion was near enough to be perfect and theia would probably enjoy taking all the credit. that would leave him free to get away from her and have some fun. "that's where you'd be wrong but that's neither here nor there." he wasn't about to really argue with her, there was a potion to be finished. "i'm fine.""keep your nose out of my life."[/s] bradley had meant well, and hadn't really expected her to answer him honestly. it was not expected for her to be so snappy and defensive. it had only been a simple question, where a yes or a no, or even just leaving it at the i'm fine. "could have just stopped at i'm fine." she had thrown the ingriedients and stirred it roughly, causing the potion to spill over, and splashing onto her arm. It had to hurt but she made no move to ask the professor to go to the hospital wing to get it checked out, he decided he was going to help her whether she liked it or not. "let me see your arm." he wasn't going to take no for an answer but he'd at least give her the chance to show him. ooc; xD pic credit; beth @ caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

"you should really do something about that. unless i really should be honored by your prescense." theia's chocolate optics flickered to bradley and she had raised an eyebrow, flicking her hair aside with a small movement of her head. "yes.. you really should." she smirked again, that small quirk of her full lips as she turned away to look at the potion. yes, all was still going to plan. she was surprised the hufflepuff had been able to keep up with her and her standards. but the boy was holding his own - she had to applaude him at least a little for that, she supposed. her eyes traced the next line of the instructions, sighing internally as she noted that they'd need to leave it for ten minutes. oh great, leaving it for ten mins! what were they supposed to do in that time? talk? hardly, theia and bradley were halfway on the way to throwing a stupid argument into the air, and she hardly wanted to sit for ten minutes and fill the awkward silence with snappy remarks. " that's where you'd be wrong but that's neither here nor there." theia shrugged, noting his dismissal as a sign of not wanting to argue, and she had to agree with him there - she didn't want an argument either. much too much of an effort. "could have just stopped at i'm fine." theia completely ignored him on that statement, closing herself off from the boy. knowing she'd been overly-defensive, and immediatly regretting her lack of usual control. she flinched as the potion splashed to her arm and damned herself for not being careful. she was lucky it wasn't something that was going to eat into her skin or something gross like that. she bent her head and took her arm in her other hand to take a look at it, frownin slightly at the angry scorch-like mark there. "let me see your arm." theia glanced up in surprise, letting her guard slip for a moment in general surprise bradley would actually care, before she quickly shut herself off and shook her head. "it's fine." she said, reaching for her wand to try and heal it, despite how she could tell the boy's words had been firm, as though he'd grab her arm anyway if she refused. well, she'd like to see him try. ooc , xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

"yes.. you really should." bradley couldn't help but laugh a little. even though this theia wasn't his friend or even like him it was still funny. "well thank you for the honor then." he knew it hadn't been her choice for him to take the seat next to her, he decided to see if maybe a little humour would make her a little nicer.
he was glad for now at least that she didn't seem to big on arguing and he was just a little relieved. he really didn't like put too much effort into arguing when it could be put to better use having fun or having a good time in the common room. looking at the instructions he was a little horrified that they were to do nothing for ten minutes. and there was nothing that he could think they could do for ten minutes. talk but he doubted anything he could think up would be good enough to keep her from having snappy snide comments to anything he would say. And she hardly looked like a girl that would be up for a good prank or two.
"it's fine."
[/s] bradley had briefly seen her let her guard down enough to show surprise and it was enough to make him more interested in finding out more about what she was like. but he now had to focus on the fact she was going to be difficult and not show him the mark that the potion had caused. "it's nothing personal, i just want to help." he could have always grabbed her arm anyway but he didn't fancy her saying to the professor he had hurt her, and it wasn't worth getting the detention for trying to help. theia frowned as her chocolate orbs gazed in vauge interest but mainly annoyance at the stinging burn mark, knowing 'episky' wouldn't fix this pesky pain. with a small huff, she picked up her wand and muttered a spell word that caused a small roll of bandage to appear before her. despite being a slytherin, theia was pretty handy with her spells and she'd leanrt that one years ago..just in case. with a slight look of concentration, she quickly wrapped the burn in the bandage neatly and yanked down her sleeve, effectively hiding it all from view before putting her wand back down. "it's nothing personal, i just want to help." theia glanced at bradley and shrugged deftly, shaking her sleeve forward slightly to make sure it was hidden - she didn't like people asking questions..or any kind of sympathy. "it's fine, it's dealt with." she said simply, voice almost monotonous. honestly, she didn't need or want his help. she was not a helpless female or anything. frowning as she looking over the potion and knew their ten mintutes simmer time was now on the clock, she sighed and lent against their work station, chewing her lower lip out of boredem. "yay..time to wait." she said sarcastically, murmering more to herself than bradley as she let a sigh escape her lips, about to sink into thoughts again, eyes starting to glaze over with a far-away look when she suddenly jerked back to herself. she shouldn't absorb herself in her thoughts again...last time she'd let her wall fall down, and shown too much of herself. she couldn't afford that again. so warily, she glanced at bradley then away, gaze flitting across the room quietly instead. ooc , xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

she seemed determined to do it all herself and bradley didn’t really feel like forcing her to do something. Besides it was better to keep his hands to himself so he couldn’t get in any trouble. He could do that enough on his own and with his friends. He so didn’t need any help. So all he did was stand by and watch as she summoned a bandage or something and wrapped it around where the potion had splashed. Soon it was forgotten as she had fixed it herself and hidden it from view. And if she didn’t want his help he wasn’t going to push the issue further. It was the same as earlier, having an argument just wasn’t worth the effort. "it's fine, it's dealt with."
[/s] Bradley merely shrugged as he looked around the room to see how the other pairs were coming along with the potion. It was funny but even with the arguing and incident, it still seemd as they were ahead as none of the other pairs were waiting for the ten minutes. "yay..time to wait."[/s]he couldn’t have agreed more with her. Now that the ten minutes had come for the potion to simmer bradley was still at a loss for what to do for ten minutes. As sorry as he was to say it he didn’t feel that he could fade out and not pay attention for ten minutes. He wouldn’t put it past theia to call to the professors attention he wasn’t working. Which led him to still stare around the room. Every so often he would glance over at theia who seemed determine to just stare anywhere but him. Had he seen something she hadn’t wanted him to? There was nothing that he could recall with certainty. Finally it was just no fun to sit for ten minutes in silence. And he wasn’t going to be bored, even if it meant taking up the challenge of getting this slytherin girl to open up just a little bit. ”did you enter your name in the goblet of fire?”[/color] of course bradley had entered his name, and he would be there to cheer for his house no matter who was chosen as champion. ooc; finally done xD Pic credit; beth@caution [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

theia's chocolate optics drifted to the clock, watching the hands move. was it her or did it seem to take an eternity for them to move even one minute? or was the clock broken? theia frowned, boredem increasing as she let a sigh escape her lips, glancing briefly at the boy next to her as he looked equally as bored. she frowned and looked away, putting her forearms against the desk and lightly raising herself onto the desk, sitting on the edge with her legs swinging over the sides rather than just leaning against it. of course, she sat well away from the cauldron. ”did you enter your name in the goblet of fire?” theia glanced at bradley as he spoke, surprised the hufflepuff had bothered to try and make conversation. she mulled over the effort of answering, half of her wanting to just shrug and go back to ignore him, but the other half of her which hated being bored and strived for conversation had her turning her head toward him instead of away and nodding. "yep." she said simply, not needing or really wanting to elaborate on that. "you?" she asked in response, only asking to know if he'd be her opponant should they both happen to get chosen. she wondered why he'd entered - if he had. most people seemed to want to show their enemies or make their houses or selfs proud or some crap like that. some wanted the excitement. theia ? well, it was difficult to explain but mostly, she was doing it for her parents. she'd always wanted their respect and love and she'd never gotten it. she remembered the first time she'd done magic, watching her mother turn her head away and simply saying 'thats nice dear' in her cold voice, whilst her father, in his armchair, had simply scowled and added 'is that all?' and went back to reading his newspaper. that had been one of the first moments theia realised she needed to try harder. do whatever she could do to get them to be proud. and so, she'd entered the tournament... the only thing was, she'd almost been forced after recieving a letter from them basically saying that if she didn't get chosen and win, they'd strike her from the family. completely. that had made theia angry but..also desperate. she needed to make them proud. she needed to get chosen. frowning as she realised once more her control had slipped a little and sadness and a trace of anger had flickered across her face, but she quickly hid the traces and oddly polite, awaited bradley's response. ooc , xD pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

when you needed time to move just a bit slower it always seemed to Bradley it insisted on slowing down. Always had to make things difficult. Bradley wasn’t sure how his effort of making conversation to escape boredom would go. So while he waited to see what would happen he began doodling on a spare bit of parchment that he had laying on the table. It seemed as if forever had passed but it couldn’t have been more than a few minutes before theia surprised him. ”yep”
[/s] He supposed it shouldn’t have surprised him that she had actually answered. That was a topic most everyone was eager to speak about. The tournement was bound to be a great deal of fun. Even if he had not entered he still would have been excited about it. There were going to be tasks to be done and he would definitely enjoy watching the champions work. ”you”[/s] he hadn’t really expected her to keep the conversation going. Perhaps she detested boredom as much as he did. In any event it would be quite rude of him to ignore her now when he had her talking. And talking meant he could look at her without making her seem to angry with him. “yes I did. I entered the very first night the goblet was put out.”She seemed to be thinking about something. And it was something that obviously upset or saddened her. The last time he had dared ask what was up he hadn’t liked the results. No this time he was going to go a different direction. It may take a couple of classes together for him to figure her out, but he was going to do it no matter what. “Why’d you decide to enter?” It hadn’t been all that hard when he had decided to enter. He wanted to prove to himself that it wasn’t always the brains that counted but the hard work and effort you put in it that made it worthwhile. That and he really wanted to make his parents proud. He had never thought himself good enough for his father to name him after a great wizard and auror, but he was going to show his dad he was worthy of the name. He frowned just a little before looking back up to her. Maybe the way to go was to share a little more about himself, after all it wasn’t going to ruin him if she turned out to be the typical slytherin, which he was very much starting to doubt. “I entered to prove to my father I’m worthy of being named after Alastor Moody. I really want to make him proud of me.” A few more minutes had gone by and there hadn’t been shouting. Maybe they really would get through this ten minutes afterall. Ooc; replies may be delayed. Sorry! Pic credit;beth@caution [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

“yes I did. I entered the very first night the goblet was put out.” theia glanced at bradley and rolled her eyes. eager much. why would he have wanted to convey that desperation to her was a big whatever really. normally, she'd take the time to figure peopple out - not that they were ever hard to - but she just couldn't be bothered right now. she wanted to sit and wallow and all. a simple 'yes' would have surficed, but he'd had to bother to elaborate. theia didn't know why she'd suddenly felt that flash of annoyance but she wasn't going to curb it. "good for you." she said simply, tone slightly sullen, etched with boredom. “Why’d you decide to enter?” theia glanced at the hufflepuff in vauge surprise. why'd he bothered to ask that? surely everyone would answer with 'i want to prove myself' or 'i want to make people proud'. it was the generic response, so why'd he bothered to ask? theia frowned slightly and shrugged, deliberating with cold indifference as to if she should answer or not. if she didn't answer, she could just tell him to mind his own buiseness. then again, she didn't need to go into detail, say anything private. he didn't need to know anything about her parents. swinging her slender legs still she glanced at the clock before gazing at the wall, deliberatly not looking at him. "my parents." she said simply, a little blunt. her expression darkened slightly without her meaning it to as the words brought back to memory their threat. but bradley wasn't to know that. he wasn't going to learn anything. the thing was at the same time as being desperate for them to be proud, to show her attention or at least some emotion, she also hated them. despised them for who they were and who they'd made theia to be. she hated them for this threat they were imposing on her, and yet at the same time understood why. theia sighed, why couldn't things be simpler? “I entered to prove to my father I’m worthy of being named after Alastor Moody. I really want to make him proud of me.” theia curled her top lip slightly. "how precious." she half snarled, blinking herself at how vicious she'd suddenly sounded. she didn't know why ... why had that gotten to her?! strangely, oddly, she felt contrite and she shot bradley a glance. "sorry." she said quietly, frowning slightly at herself, the words bitter and unfamiliar but actually sincere. she may be nasty on occasion, but she wasn't usually harsh without reason. if it'd been olivia sitting next to her then sure, harsh words all the way. but this hufflepuff wasn't all that terrible. and wasn't she kinda in the goblet for the same reason? the pride of her parents? theia sighed and ran a hand through her hair in slight distress, averting her gaze. what was happening to her? she was crumbling right now. all because of her damn family. ooc , xD that's cool no worries pic credit - hannah leigh @ caution

"good for you"
[/s] Bradley knew that he probably could have just said yes and be done with it. But he figured the more he talked the faster the time would go. Then they could continue on with the potion and hopefully get good marks as well. It was what was called a win-win. Still he wasn't going to irritate her further by saying something back. Again it was one of those things that wasn't worth the fight. He wondered why he had really even bothered to keep the conversation going after all it would have been much easier to just sit there the remaining time in silence. The conversation wasn't even all that pleasant a good part of the time they had been working together. But still he had gotten some answers out of her. And though she was a bit sharp at times, he didn't believe he was like most of the others. "my parents."[/s] She got a darker expression and Bradley wondered why that was. Still he was wary to ask her why. But he did want to know more about her parents. "What do your parents do?"how precious."[/s] He didn't see the need to be so mean. After all he was just trying to be friendly. He wasn't like the people who wanted her autograh. He didn't worship or admire her greatly. They probably would have never spoken if it hadn't been for having to work together for the class. "sorry" Bradley actually hadn't expected an apology. But a sincere apology took him by suprise. "No worries." There was still a few minutes left before they could do the next part but he might as well get started. "I'll just start getting the next part ready."ooc; so sorry it took so long. xD pic credit; beth@caution[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]
