shine on you crazy diamond ,
It was late saturday evening, the stale air of Hogwarts castle providing oxygen to the many late night dwellers in the castle. Jackson was no exception to this fact, the pale seventh year making his way through the various hallways, stair cases and corridors of the castle at this late hour. Unlike majority of the castle Jackson was wasn't aimlessly exploring the castle. He actually had a destination; The library. Some may find it strange that he liked to visit the library at such a late hour, but on the contrary he thought it was the best time to head there. During the day the library is normally over crowded with students studying and researching homework. Jackson normally avoided the wealth of knowledge at all coasts during the day, not wanting to have to bother with students of lesser intelligence as they scurried around looking for the right book. Call it vain, but Jackson would rather not have to deal with such things.
So he was always a frequent visitor in the lat hours of the night, sneaking his way through the corridors with stealth and skill before slipping himself into the library. He loved it there, especially at night. The library had an eerie glow to it at night, the light form the stars and moon echoing every shadow and detail just right. It was almost like something out of a well written book, Jackson leaning his back against the door of the library for a moment, taking in the scene. He could see the dust rising up through the lights in the window, each beam from the moon and stars lighting up each window and revealing it's shadow on various surfaces including bookshelves, seats and the stone floor. As if he was afraid to disturb the scene Jackson crept through the library as quietly and carefully as he could. Jackson was positive no one was here (because normally there never is), so he kept his attention focused on his destination instead of his surrounding area. The worst he could find is one of Hogwarts' many friendly ghosts, but he doubted that would be a problem.
It took about five minutes of walking to reach his normal spot, Jackson reaching a decent sized black couch in the far back end of the library. It was secluded and surrounded by shelves on each side (aside from the front) which made it the perfect spot to retreat for the evening. A lantern rested on the table, Jackson opening it up and pointing his want at the wick before murmuring the fire spell, the lantern lighting and giving the area a dim yellow glow. Jackson wasn't exactly worried about someone seeing it; he was so far in back that even if someone was to enter they wouldn't see the light. Satisfied with his surroundings he put his wand away and picked up the lantern, holding it up as he went over to the shelves. This section of the library was one that Jackson was all too familiar with; the muggle author section.
In truth this area of the library was much smaller then it should have been. Being muggleborn Jackson loved many of the muggle authors that were famous in the world. He visited this part of the library often, Jackson almost positive he read every book here. Emerald eye scanned each heading until he spotted a familiar title. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. He grinned a bit, personally loving the tale and grabbing the book from the shelf. A cloud of dust came with it, Jackson cough softly as he was surrounded by the dust. Walking over to the sofa Jackson put the lantern back down on the table as he lazily fell into the familiar sofa. Putting his feet up on the table he looked at the front cover, blowing off some of the extra dust from the front before opening up to the first page and beginning to read.
