To Face the Toil [Open]

She utterly despised plants.

Didn't care how irrational it sounded, there was nothing to be done about her deep-seeded hatred for them. From the earliest years in Hogwarts, Callista had constantly struggled with the infernal things, and had grown something of a reputation for muttering at them darkly through some of the more difficult lessons. They were usually in the form of various hexes, and though varied, her particular favorites always having something to do with fire. Everyone knew that a plant's worst enemy was fire. Maybe in some part of her brain, Callista thought that these threats would wilt a plant enough to obey to her misdirections, though logically, a plant couldn't comprehend such commands.

Of course, that hardly seemed to stop her. Today was one of those days. Due to her natural difficulty in herbology, Calli often found herself spending more time in the greenhouses than she would've liked. Her! A slytherin! Only other housemate she'd spot in the buildings was that weird Asian girl that hung out with Olivia. She never really questioned it, and was much too prideful to ask for help with an ally of one of her greatest rivals. It was complete blasphemy to even consider it. Blasphemy!

So instead, she sat alone in one of the classrooms, if you could call it that, a venus flytrap happily looming over her. The slytherin could almost swear that it was chewing on a few strands of her hair as she tried to make heads or tails of a particular section in the textbook. Her hair, though stringy as it could be at times, could hardly qualify as a snack though. Callista only figured it was just simple imaginings, something to distract her from her work. Ordinarily, she would indulge such procrastination, but today would not be one of those days.

An exam was coming up, and unfortunately, Calli found herself woefully... unprepared. So instead she toiled upon the pages, cursing mildly as the pages continued to seem like an entirely different language to her.
