roxy sighed, the sound escaping between her parted full lips as she stared down at the blank parchment, twirling the quill within her nimble fingertips as she tried to think of what to write. honestly, she hated potions and she hated homework ... so when it came to being given both in the same package well ... she tended to procrastinate as long as she could. but she knew she couldn't hold it off any longer. the work was due in tomorrow morning, and as roxy was never one to get up early and therefore would not be waking extra early to do the work in time, she figured she may as well do it now.
only, as she blinked and refocused on the page - having zoned out a little - she realised that her hand had had a mind of it's own, and had actually doodled a few random lines in the corner of the page. damn it. now she'd wasted the page. it would be too much effort to actually grab her wand from her bag and clean the page, so she simply put the quill down and crumpled the page up, chucking it lightly in the general direction of the bin and grinning in small triumph as it went clean in, before she grabbed a spare piece of parchment and grabbed her quill again, dipping the end into her ink pot.
it took her two hours to finish the work. no joke. two hours. and about five more pieces of parchment. the time had dragged by, feeling like each minute was an eternity. several times, she'd glanced at the clock and wondered if it was magiced to go extra slowly, or if it was just broken. but finally, she'd gotten down to the work and done it. as soon as she was done, not caring it she smudged the damn ink or not, she folded the page, shoved it and her equipment unceremoniously into her bag and swung it onto her shoulder.
roxy adjusted the strap quickly, feeling the heavy weight of the books in her bag drag it down, causing the strap to cut into her shoulder, and made for the doors. she was eager to get the heck outta here before something or someone could drag her back in. she'd pretty much chained heself to that wooden desk to do this work, it was noway her wish to stay a minute longer than she had to.
which was why she wasn't really paying attention as she headed out of the library faster then normal, pulling the door open and almost running out ... and about to smack bang run right into someone else. with a small 'oof' and a stagger backward, roxy caught her balance and blinked. "oh sorry..." she said, head raising up to look into the face of who she'd just ran into..
( ooc , hope this is okay!? )

Luke loved first years. No, that wasn't meant to be mocking or insulting. He honestly did. Lots of people would suspect that that was intense sarcasm on his part. After all, what logical seventh year would even spare a glance at the children that run underfoot, getting lost on the way to each of their classes for the first month and squeaking in terror whenever a student third year or older so much as glanced at them? Most older students, especially if they were of the Slytherin house (not that Lucas was uh... biased against Slytherins or anything) would sooner hex them than help them, but not Luke. He enjoyed their company, to an extent that they would give him peace when he wanted it. The kids, or monkeys as Luke like to affectionately call them, were adorable!
Why the sudden burst of affection, you ask? Simply for the usefulness of the little tykes. See, while they quivered in fear whenever a 'big kid' spoke to them, they absolutely worshipped you if you so much as smiled at them with a look that didn't say 'Hi! I'm going to eat you now!', so Lucas had found it easy to befriend a few of the skittish little Gryffindors who lurked in the Gryffindor commons room because they were too paralyzed with terror to venture out of its doors for anything but school. Usually he didn't take advantage of them, though they'd happily do whatever he asked. he knew that the famed Weasley twins, decades ago, had been fans of using first years to experiment their 'escape school' treats, but Luke didn't want to cause serious damage to the tykes. Besides, he didn't have the creativity to come up with anything like that of his own. He just occasionally had his first year buddies run an errand, or distract a teacher so that he could escape the commons room when the said teacher knew he had a three page essay due the next day that he clearly wasn't done yet. Miss Swanepoel hadn't been pleased with his earlier excuse of 'my cat ate my essay' on the extra homework he'd been assigned for goofing off in her class the other day, and had upped the size of the essay that he still had no plans of doing.
He'd been almost to the library, where he planned getting a good book on Quidditch, when he noticed her in the hallway. Just standing there, with no intention at all of moving apparently, though he couldn't imagine why she was there. He waited for five minutes, not at all willing to walk by her to be grilled on why he wasn't working on his essay, but she wouldn't budge an inch. Sure, this wasn't the only way to the library, but it was the most direct route from the Gryffindor commons room and he felt too lazy to walk all the way along a winding path to the same destination. He almost gave up and just returned to the commons room when he noticed two of his little buddies walking along the hallway. After a moment of talk to them, one disappeared down another corridor while Lucas flattened himself against the wall and the other first year ran to Miss Swanepoel, telling her that his friend had fallen off of his broomstick and needed help. The professor, of course, hurried to help immediately, and Lucas escaped notice. He was home free.
So the sandy haired Hogwarts 'senior' hurried along the hall to the doors that opened into the library. He reached out, about the push one of the doors open when, like he had 'The Force' (yes, he was a Muggle movies geek) it moved forwards of its own accord. For a moment, pretty much forgetting the world he lived in, his mouth dropped at the 'magical' coincidence, and the next moment someone was colliding with him and stumbling backwards. "Woah!" he exclaimed, quickly catching his balance so that he didn't fall on the floor (which would have been pretty humiliating). He quickly recognized the person who'd ran into him, and so a teasing smirk filled his face. "Where's the fire, Roxy?"

" Where's the fire, Roxy? " roxy looked up as she recognised the voice immediatly. She'd been ready to just duck her head and run, just in case it'd been a slytherin to whom she'd just barrelled into. Thankful it hadn't been... Then again, the fact it'd been luke was a little embarrasing and as her eyes looked up into his familiar cute face she blushed slighty. But roxy wasn't some shy kid, and she sent him a grin in return to his teasing remark. " nope no fire... Just making a break for freedom..." she shrugged lightly, shifting her bag as the weight dragged on her shoulder.
She was glad the work was done and all, but she couldn't help but feel she'd just gone and wasted two hours that she wasn't going to get back. Roxy bit back a sigh. She took after her dad far too much in the work respect; she tended to leave it till last minute and it was never any good. Plus, even more unfortunately, she'd also inherited her dads famous reputation for blowing things up by accident - proven just the other day when she'd put too much dragons blood into her potion and caused the whole thing to blow up in flames ... Which consequentially had singed her fringe. She'd laughed along with everyone else - she wasnt someone who got het up about things like that, and repaired her fringe within seconds of course. But still, her lack of caution when it came to potions and such could often irritate her. She couldn't help but wish she was smarter at times.. It sucked making a fool out of yourself on every possible occasion. But still, she didn't mind people teasing her, like her friends.
She rolled her eyes lightly and grinned up at lucas, having to move her entire neck to see his face. Damn when did he get so tall? If she ended up looking at him too long she was sure she'd get a crick in her neck..." and if that 'fire' talk was a reference to yesterday... Then I swear I followed the instructions!" she grinned, knowing that Lucas knew her pretty well and had hung with her enough when they were going out and as friends to know how accident prone she was .. And how much things liked to explode on her.
" so what're you doing around here? she asked, " I thought you were allergic to libraries." she teased in return, hoping that her talking to him wasn't holding him up or anything.

He just had to smile. She was so cute when she was embarrassed! …And he meant that in the least creepy, stalkerish way. Then again, Roxy was always pretty cute, wasn’t she? And she was cutest when she was happy and smiled an- Okay, dude, stop fawning over the ex/really good friend! Man up and get over it! Ah, that little voice of polite reason that Lucas suspected belonged to a little man in his head who really wouldn’t mind punching the seventeen year old once in a while. Luke should probably take his advice… their relationship had been years ago, and he’d dated two girls since. Even though he and Roxy were close again, there was absolutely no reason for his feelings to return, or stick around as stubbornly as they were. …Thank god that she wasn’t an leglimens, because if she could see within his mind he’d be quite screwed.
“Well, you're improving your track record, then,” he teased, still smiling from before. "I don't think anyone would really mind if you set the place on fire, though. It's kind of a miniature Azkaban for students." So maybe setting the library on fire was a little bit extreme, and not something that he would seriously carry out, but the guy was joking. He had no inclinations towards arson. He wasn’t one to frequent the library often because the library=schoolwork, and schoolwork=torture to the Gryffindor seventh year, though, so even if it set on fire it would make no difference to him. He liked scraping by with his minimal grades and cramming for his OWLs and NEWTs. The thought of extra work to get a good mark in school was almost sickening to him. His grades weren't really suffering his position in life, or where he wanted to go, so why shouldn't he get the most he could out of this last year of school in friendship and take it easy on the stress of homework?
He exaggerated a cough into his sleeve, as though he did have severe allergies to a simple library. "Yeah, I am. That's why I have to get in, grab Quidditch Through the Ages, and get out as fast as possible." On second thought... maybe a bit of company would be welcome. "Or maybe I shouldn't risk it. Ya know, my throat could swell up while I'm in there, cut off my air, and I could choke and die... that wouldn't be fun. I rather enjoy living them."
(Why does my muse always filter out at the end?)

she saw him smile and damned herself when she blushed faintly, cheekbone tinged with rose as she looked up at him. damn she had to have embarrassingly collided with him right? it couldn't have been some slytherin she could've run from. it wasn't that there was anything wrong with luke - no nothing at all. more like, she felt a wave of embarrassment and being someone who never really knew how to deal with being embarrased she felt a little awkward. see now she had to stick around and be all embarrased rather than be able to run far away like she couuld've it'd been a slytherin. not that she wanted to run from luke.
man she was over-thinking things bad. she didn't know why he'd made her flustered like this was she knew it wasn't really a good sign. the last times he'd made her feel all flustered-like was when she'd first started to have a crush on him, and since those years and all she should've long gotten over that feeling right? and she had...hadn't she? i mean...he was a good friend now. they'd been with other people, moved on...right? urgh she needed to stop the incessant mind-babble. it was driving her insane! so roxy forced herself to shut up and looked up at luke instead, half wishing she had like, a box to stand on or something so she didn't need to crane her neck at this angle. not that she'd prefer not being with lucas right now. urgh that it was again, one of those little comments that reminded her far too much of the past of their little romance. gah she needed to get some new thoughts.
“Well, you're improving your track record, then,” rox rolled her eyes lightly. "more like..adding to it." she grinned and shook her head at herself. "I don't think anyone would really mind if you set the place on fire, though. It's kind of a miniature Azkaban for students." roxy looked at lucas and raised an eyebrow, jokingly pretending to think it over. "yeah see..the problem with that is the whole 'make things backfire on me and explode'...only seems to work when i don't want it to. so i'm thinking, if i actually tried to actually make something explode...i might do it right.." roxy paused then grinned. "hey perhaps that should be my new strategy in potions?! save on the singed fringes and all..." she joked, knowing that she wouldn't under no circumstances actually try to make somethign explode...she probably would set fire to several other fringes rather than her own...and she didn't much fancy the idea of her own personal mob coming after her.
roxy laughed lightly as he coughed, her blush long forgotten now as she settled into the usual easy, casual banter-like conversation her and lucas often had. that's what she liked about this guy; he was so good natured and easy going it was easy to slip into friendly chat with him and have a joke. it was his good humour that had first attracted her to him, a bonus on his looks...and damn now she'd gotten thoughts into her head again. roxy focused on his words instead of her thoughts instead. "Yeah, I am. That's why I have to get in, grab Quidditch Through the Ages, and get out as fast as possible." roxy nodded in understanding. "sorta like a 'hold your breath and make a dash for it kind of thing?" she grinned and looked at him. "Or maybe I shouldn't risk it. Ya know, my throat could swell up while I'm in there, cut off my air, and I could choke and die... that wouldn't be fun. I rather enjoy living them." raising an eyebrow roxy caught his gaze. "if that is in any way some sort of plea that i enter the dangerzone and get it for you i say...don't be so lazy and if you're that desperate. do a bubble-head charm?" she joked, then shook her head. "but if it wasn't then you're right...risking it would be stupid. you can't go and die on me, who else can i share my love of star wars with!?" she put on a tone of mock horror, a soft smile on her lips to show she was teasing. but of course, it was kinda true. really, who else would there be to share her passion for the muggle sci-fi movies with her? not just star wars but all kinds of nerdy-like muggle films. she was certainly one to watch lord of the rings triology all in one day...

The cuteness of her embarrassment didn't lessen any when Luke noticed the faint little blush on her cheeks. The fact that it was there for him to notice now, when they'd already started a conversation after her crashing into him, might have made him wonder about what exactly embarrassed her this time if he hadn't been too focused on stopping himself from staring at her. Okay, loverboy. Deep breaths. Get your mind off of her. Think about something that makes sense, like Quidditch or Transfig- wait, Transfiguration doesn't make sense... Oh dear god, could his mind not stay on a set track for more than five seconds?
Against the urgings of his conscience, Luke did decide to focus on his ex-girlfriend, just not focusing on how cute he thought she was (he was probably just overtired), and he found himself smirking as he realized how she had to crane her neck to look up at him. He'd grown quite a bit since they'd dated, now standing at over six feet tall, while she probably hadn't grown much if at all (he estimated that she was under five and a half feet). "Want me to crouch down so that you don't hurt your neck?" he teased, with a grin. A stray thought passed through his mind of how far he'd have to lean down to kiss her, and then came the usual retaliation from common sense telling that stray thought to shut up and get the hell out of his head. It did, but it still bugged the hell out of him.
"Yeah, sure," he chuckled, amused at her wraparound way of conquering her ability to ignited everything. "Why don't you test that out, but first tell me when you'll be doing so so that I can skip that class if I'm in it with you, and tell me how it went." Sometimes he was amazed that Roxy hadn't caused anyone serious injury yet. He could remember all of the accidents she got into throughout the years, especially in their first and second years of school when everyone was still getting the hang of their wand. There had never been a dull moment.
"Ya know, Rox, not that I'm doubting your leadership prowess or anything, but sometimes I have to wonder how the hell you became a prefect. Does Kingsley want the school blown up?" Lucas teased with a grin on his face. There was really no doubt in his mind that Roxy was a good prefect. She had an organization, at times, that he severely lacked, all of the time. There were many, many reasons of why Lucas was not named a prefect. Too many to be listed off all at once without sounding like an endless scroll of meaningless information. Let's just say that Lucas hadn't made the best impressions upon teachers with his goofing off and late assignments and all around lack of focus in his first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth years at the school. They would have to want the entire Wizarding world to go to hell if they named him a prefect, because impressionable minds of first years under the guidance of Lucas Shunpike could be a scary thing indeed. Forget all about zombie apocalypses. The First Year Apocalypse would be nigh...
"Exactly!" the blonde haired boy smirked. Then he shook his head in mock hurt, his rather long (for a guy, anyway) hair lightly whipping around his head. "You think I would endanger your life to death by Bennett? I'm hurt. What kind of a heartless monster do you think I am?" Bennett, of course, being the rather moody librarian who probably didn't have a fond view of Lucas, seeing as many of the books he took out of the library returned water-damaged. It wasn't his fault, honest. Peeves just enjoyed bombarding him with water balloons on his way between classes.
One of the worst things, well, one of the only bad things, about the wizarding world was the way that you were cut off from all of the muggle gems that Lucas loved to indulge in so much. He knew that so many wizards out there cared little for muggle inventions, because magic seemed so much superior, but in Lucas' opinion muggles had given the world some of its greatest treasures. No wizard he'd ever met had the creativity for the unexplainable as they did. Star Wars was a stroke of genius that was known the world over, except for the wizarding families who were too stuck in magic to pry their noses out of their text books, and Lucas was extremely jealous of the man who had came up with the idea for such a quotable masterpiece. It was actually pretty awesome having a friend at Hogwarts who understood Lucas' love for such movies and didn't laugh at him or look at him like he were some sort of muggle obsessor. "You're right. I don't want to leave you all alone in this crazy world of sci-finessless. I guess I won't risk death, then. At least not now. I'll go get the book later."
(OOC: Sci-filessness? Does that properly convey what I wanted it to say? You get the point, even if the word is all screwed up. XD Oh, and I love Lucas. And Roxy. )

"Want me to crouch down so that you don't hurt your neck?" roxy gazed up at lucas and rolled her eyes lightly, puttin on a mock hurt expression. "hey now no need to patronise.." she grinned suddenly and raised an eyebrow. "actually yeah, i'd like you to crouch... " she said, tone teasin as she looked up at him expectantly, as if waiting for him to indeed crouch down to her height. the thought of him being at a closer proximity if he bent down made her heart thump painfully, and she forced herself not to think about what his closer presence might inflict on her health. he was her ex, she shouldn't go there ... right? there had been a reason they'd broken up before hadn't there? then again, they'd been younger then and both of them had grown-up .. to the most part anyway - and literally in the sense of lucas' now impressive over 6ft height. roxy almost groaned at herself, she needed to stop thinking about this stuff.. it was driving her crazy already. "Why don't you test that out, but first tell me when you'll be doing so so that I can skip that class if I'm in it with you, and tell me how it went." roxy grinned and shook her head. "oh nu uh .. i'm not letting you get away that easy... " she teased, a broad smile still on her face. she didn't cause things to explode every time, only just on occasion but.. if something was deemed to go wrong, it was always going to be roxy that was the cause of it. hey she didn't mean to! the forces of life and magic just seemed to enjoy ganging up on her. "Ya know, Rox, not that I'm doubting your leadership prowess or anything, but sometimes I have to wonder how the hell you became a prefect. Does Kingsley want the school blown up?" roxy put a hand to her heart and acted wounded. "ouch, hitting me where it hurts - my leadership skills!" she grinned and let the mock wounded look fall. she knew lucas was teasing and she was teasing riht back. "you know...i wonder how the hell i became prefect too..." she said lightly with a small shrug. well, though roxy was often the cause of an explosion or two, she was actually quite responsible. she was good with younger years too, being compassionate and kind and somehow having some sort of natural almost motherly-like quality when dealing with first and second years. adding to that she was a pacifist, someone who doesn't believe in violence and so though she often messed up her potions or spells or whatnot, she was hardly ever involved in arugments or house rivalry. she guessed that must have counted for something, even if sometimes it did mean she got cornered by a slytherin or two. "You think I would endanger your life to death by Bennett? I'm hurt. What kind of a heartless monster do you think I am?" roxy grinned and shook her head . "hey, bennett used to like me! ... before she saw me hanging out with you one time. " she teased. truthfully, she doubted the old aged librarian had ever liked anyone. "you see i bring books back in pristine condition... which counts for something aparently.." she grinned and laughed lightly, shaking her head slightly at bennet. oh man that woman must be so lonely to flip out over the slightest ink dot in her library books. "You're right. I don't want to leave you all alone in this crazy world of sci-finessless. I guess I won't risk death, then. At least not now. I'll go get the book later." "yeah you can't leave me alone in the sci-fi starved world!" roxy nodded and smiled, in all seriousness it was a shame that most of the muggle world never saw the delights of star wars. infact right then, roxy suddeenly had a real craving to watch the lot of them. it was a damn annoyance that hogwarts didn't have a tv... and suddenly roxy had a great idea. okay, well she thought it was great - and it could be if it worked. looking up at lucas, eyes shining with interest as she spoke her idea to him. "hey...what do you say to blowing off an afternoon of revision ... and watching a star wars movie or two ? i bet the room of requrement would be able to provide us with a tv and some popcorn and a dvd or two, right? i mean... it's supposed to be able to do everything..." she grinned, looking hopeful. ( ooc , wow epic post jade!! xD haha yush i totally get whatcha mean : P and awe i 'em both too! they're just adorable . . . and lucas makes me chuckle xD )

"Wait a sec, since it's for your convenience shouldn't you be the one moving? I'm sure we could summon you a stool or something to stand on," he teased. After a moment of thought he pulled his wand out from his pocket. "Or we could just do this." He waved the wand at her feet mockingly, "Wingardium Leviosa." He wasn't serious, of course, and so nothing happened to make the shorter being lift from the ground and rise to Lucas' height. Being this tall was sometimes a pain, in rare situations, but usually Luke didn't even notice. It was just natural, towering over most of his friends. There were a few guys his height or taller around the school, especially in the seventh year, but the boy usually had to aim his head downwards to look anyone in the eye. After a while he didn't even notice the fact that he was heads taller than some of his friends. It was just how things were, and he'd rather be too tall sometimes than too short. Wouldn't it be embarrassing to be the guy with a girlfriend taller than him? The way that Roxy's name flashed across his brain at the word 'girlfriend' nearly set a scowl on his lips. His brain was not being funny anymore. Maybe he was just overtired and that was the reason for the annoying little thoughts... must be it. It had to be the answer.
"So you'd rather kill me in one of your accidents?" he asked, faking being offended. "My life means nothing at all to you? I'm disposable?" Of course she would never actually kill anyone, on purpose or by accident. The teachers at Hogwarts were good at reacting whenever any unpredictable, threatening situation arose. Such as when a blast-ended-skrewt, a recreation of Hagrid's infamous experiment, had gotten loose in the castle and cornered a couple of first years. It could have potentially been a very bad situation, everyone knew how dangerous the beasts were, but teachers had been there in an instant to contain a situation. Even in such things as explosions each teacher probably knew how to calm the class, quickly get help if anyone was injured, and contain a blaze if there was any. You couldn't exactly be a teacher of such a school as Hogwarts with its unique students if you didn't have the level headedness to look after unpredictable situations.
"What leadership skills?" he teased, and found himself having to hold himself back from reaching out a hand to ruffle her hair, all in good natured fun. Even such innocent contact as that put him on edge at the moment, which was really rather ridiculous. Instead he ran his hand through his own hair, brushing his long bangs out of his face. His hair wasn't too long, in his opinion. Well, no one could mistake him for a girl, anyway. It was just a comfortable length. Lucas thought he looked like hell with short hair, and any longer than he currently had it just seemed distasteful to him, but his currently length was just perfect. "Maybe Kingsley just really hates Jaycen or Raychel, and wants to give them a hard time by making them have to direct you," he suggested as a reason for her prefect status with a shrug. He didn't know all that much about either of the two heads, other than the fact that each were on the Quidditch team and that Jayce was obviously the Ravenclaw male champion, but he didn't envy their duties of the year to lead the prefects. It was work on top of the existing work of being a prefect, or a version of one, themselves, and Lucas thought that school gave enough work as it was.
Miss Bennett was not the stereotypical librarian that Lucas htought of whenever he envisioned a libarian. To him a librarian was a gray haired, wrinkled old woman who snuck around in the shelves with her finger on her lips and a 'Shhhhh!' ready for any student who dared utter a word in her holy sanctuary. Miss Bennett didn't fit the physical description, being rather young and new at her job, but she seemed to have much of the snappy, uncaring personality that a stereotypical librarian had. She just didn't seem like a happy person, and so her personality often seemed to clash with Lucas' when they did have encounters. Lucas tried to avoid being anywhere around her as often as possible, though, just for good measure. "She's just jealous of you and I 'cause she knows she'll never be as cool as us. But I've never given back a harmed book in my life! I mean... well, nothing that a bit of magic shouldn't be able to fix. She's a librarian, she should know how to repair water damage on books." Magic could do practically anything. Was there any real reason why it should not be able to repair simple damage to paper thin books? If it could make a bus squeeze to be five inches thick, it could repair a broken binding or ripped page. There was no need for librarians to protect their books like they were infants.
"Sci-fi starved world... I personally prefer the world 'scifilessness'." It was Lucas' only response to what Roxy said. His mind focused on strange things, sometimes, but any further response to the comment was forgotten when he began to think about her next idea.
Electronic items did not work at Hogwarts. iPods, gameboys, computers, and televisions all went haywire when they went anywhere near the school. It was likely a part of some protective enchantment placed upon the caslte to ward off muggles, and sometimes it really sucked. Sure, magic was awesome, but Lucas sometimes missed the familiarity of home that electronics bought. But the Room of Requirement seemed to operate on completely different rules than the rest of the school. Lucas had discovered it with Fred Weasley, back in their first year when the pair were close. Fred had heard all about it from his father, and from the first day that the boys went to the room they were hooked. Over the years Lucas had visited it many times; for a nap in the middle of a class, for a room to practice spells in, for a storage area and just for a place to hang out and have a bit of carefree fun when things got too serious. If it was able to create all of those things for him, who was to say that it couldn't conjure up a working television to provide a bit of enjoyment for the pair? "Star Wars sounds like a much more enjoyable way to pass the time than revision. It's definitely worth a try," Lucas grinned, trying not to sound too eager at the idea.

"Wait a sec, since it's for your convenience shouldn't you be the one moving? I'm sure we could summon you a stool or something to stand on," roxy grinned and rolled her eyes. "heeey quit poking fun at my height. i am a perfectly averaged height girl. not my fault you're a freak of nature." she teased, raising as eyebrow as he pulled out his wand. "Or we could just do this." roxy looked at him warily, and squealed as he murmered. "Wingardium Leviosa." half expected herself to be lifted from the ground with the spell, even if his wand movements were mocking. she shook her head and gazed up at him. actually she quite liked his height. sure it might give her a crick in her neck, but she always felt kinda .. well safe? when she was with a tall guy. yeah, she did have a tendancy to get picked on, and she liked the idea of how protected and all you could feel when you were with a tall guy. not that she expected lucas to be all protective over her or anything she just... oh whatever, she liked his tall height that was all she was saying.
"So you'd rather kill me in one of your accidents? My life means nothing at all to you? I'm disposable?" roxy grinned and tilted her head in consideration, looking up at him. "hmm .. nooo of course not! i couldn't live without you lucas!" she grinned lightly. well honestly, he was a good friend and he was one of the people she got on most with and genuinely enjoyed his company. he was a good person, of course she didn't want to kill him with one of her experiement backfires. "What leadership skills?" roxy pouted and looked at him, feigning sadness. "i'll have you know i have excellent leadership skills." she protested, her eyes following his hand as he brushed back his hair. she bit her lower lip, shifting slightly as for some reason her hand begged to be the one brushing back his hair. she glanced away in order to refrain from doing it too, having to push her own hair aside as it fell across her face, interrupting her view of him - hey it was a nice view...
"Maybe Kingsley just really hates Jaycen or Raychel, and wants to give them a hard time by making them have to direct you," roxy grinned and shrugged lightly. "heh i don't mind. if they want to direct me that's fine." she grinned. she was fine with following orders - so long as they weren't her mothers - and she was perfectly happy with authoritive figures, as long as they didn't abuse their powers. maybe you could call her meek, but it was just because roxy was quite happy-go-lucky and well .. sure she was a little obiendiant. but it made life easier didn't it. "She's just jealous of you and I 'cause she knows she'll never be as cool as us. But I've never given back a harmed book in my life! I mean... well, nothing that a bit of magic shouldn't be able to fix. She's a librarian, she should know how to repair water damage on books."
okay so roxy'll admit - she liked the whole 'you and i' and 'us' parts far too much. cursing her thoughts, she quickly re-focused on what lucas was saying. "aaand how would you know? maybe she's a squib and the book you water-damaged was priceless?" she grinned, teasing. " but i agree .. we're far too cool for school." she laughed lightly and shook her head. "Sci-fi starved world... I personally prefer the world 'scifilessness'." roxy grinned and rolled her eyes lightly. "alright alright." she said lightly.
"Star Wars sounds like a much more enjoyable way to pass the time than revision. It's definitely worth a try," roxy couldn't help but respond to his grin with a wide one of her own. "okay, cool." she said, trying not to grin too widely in excitement. she almost went to take his hand without thinking, but thankfully she refrained, and made to start walking down the corridor, glancing at him to see if he was going to come too.
( ooc , haha noo! it's an epic post! hehe sooo should they go to the room of requirement and find a tv? xD )

"A freak of nature?" Lucas dramatically clutched at his head, stumbling backwards until he was leaning against the wall 'dying'. It might have been a tad bit more realistic if he weren't grinning the entire time. "You want to kill me in an 'accident' and you have to wound my poor heart, first?" He was a freak of nature. Well, he preferred not to say that, but he was very tall, even where his family was concerned. His poor mother was a dainty 5'1", and his father was only 5'8". Lucas had no idea where he got his height from; the only family member at all who was anywhere near his height was his uncle Kyle, but he was Luke's mother's brother in law and not even related to the Gryffindor by blood. It was probably destined to remain a mystery, but at least Luke's kids would have a chance at not being under five foot five like seemed to be the growing trend in his family tree.
"I'm glad," he grinned, but that was the only response he could give to the fact that she couldn't live without him. He had to admit, his brain read into that far too much which wasn't really cool with him, so he moved his attention on to the rest of their conversation, trying to forget how glad the simple joking comment had made him. "I'm sure the little children all bow down to your feet and worship you as their almighty mistress, right?" He really had no basis to judge her leadership skills off of. He had never seen her in action, and from what he knew of her she probably did have a good hold on everyone and everything around her to direct and lead. But it was too much fun to joke around with her for him to pass up the opportunity.
"We're definitely too cool for school. That's why we're leaving it behind after this year." His tone was light and easy, but the reality of what he was saying was a bit more sobering. It was kind of sad, really. Hogwarts had been a second home for Lucas since he was eleven. He'd made some amazing friends here, but odds were he'd end up saying goodbye to almost all of them at the end of the year, never being sure if he'd ever see them again. Sure, they'd promise to keep in touch, but the real world would grab all of their attention for a good while as the new Hogwarts graduates tried to get a grip on their new lives, and who knew when he'd have the time to try and reconnect with his classmates. That was why he had to make the best of this year. Hang out with his friends as much as possible. Have as much fun as was possible. Enjoy life and freedom. This might be Lucas' last year at Hogwarts, but he was going to make damned sure that it was a good one.
A tv with a couch- er... chairs and popcorn to watch Star Wars movies was all a fine and dandy idea, of course. Nothing unenjoyable about it. But as long as they were going all muggley, why not go all out? The best place to watch muggle movies was in a good, old fashioned muggle movie theatre, and that was where Lucas intended the pair end up. The blonde haired boy could picture it perfectly in his brain, though he didn't think the room of requirement would give him it exactly as he wished it would be cool no matter what. An endless array of seats, popcorn machine, a gigantic screen... it had been too long since Lucas had gone to a movie theatre. He hadn't made it to one once over the Summer, so it had been well over a year, and Luke loved his movies. Well, maybe a movie marathon with Roxy would make up for his absence from the theatres. Actually, he was sure it would.
He followed after his ex, easily overtaking her in a few strides simply because his legs were much longer than hers. Height advantage. It also helped that he was walking a little bit faster than normal for the purpose of getting ahead of his girlfri- er... friend who was a girl. Soon enough he was a fair distance ahead of her, at which time he stopped and turned with a joking grin on his face. "Hurry up, slowpoke," he teased, waiting for her to join him before he continued at a slower pace than before so that he didn't leave her in the dust or force her to speed up to keep pace with him. They had a fairly long distance to walk, being only on the fourth floor and the room on the seventh. So it was up the twisting staircases and through the corridors Lucas went, always making sure that Roxy was close near him. It was natural for him to look nearby and make sure she was near him; like he'd always done when they were dating- making sure that she was safe, in a way, he guessed. But he was still trying not to read into his little thought processes right now. That would just frustrate him more.
Finally they reached the seventh floor corridor that held the secret entrance to the room of requirement, currently only a flat wall. Lucas stopped in front of the wall, knowing that they would have to walk by it three times before the room would allow them inside- if the room would allow them inside, but then he frowned. "We're not going to be able to get popcorn," he remembered. "The room of requirement can't create food from nothing." Hey, look, laws of magic were useful sometimes! And he'd thought they were useless knowledge at one point. Of course, there was no way that the absence of popcorn would be allowed to deter him from their plans, but it did put a bit of a disappointment on things. What was a movie without a snack? "We could- er... well, I could, you don't have to come with, anyways, I could run down to the kitchens... I'm sure the house elves would be all too happy to help us out," he suggested, eyes glancing up and down the hall in case anyone was incoming.

"A freak of nature?" roxy raised her eyebrows as he put on a show of being shot, knowing he wasn't offended by that big handsome grin on his face. darn him and his charming grin ..."You want to kill me in an 'accident' and you have to wound my poor heart, first?" roxy grinned and rolled her eyes. "i'm sure your poor heart can cope. " she teased, watching him and shaking her head. she knew he wasn't a freak, she'd seen plentiful of guys as tall or taller than him out and about, hell even the odd girl that tall - though that was kinda odd - but then again, to roxy and her average 5 foot 4 inches. both her parents were taller than her, but her mother was only taller by an inch or so. still, roxy was seventeen - she didn't expect to grow any taller than that, not even an inch... which was a shame in her opinion. she'd like to be a little taller at least. "I'm sure the little children all bow down to your feet and worship you as their almighty mistress, right?" roxy laughed lightly and nodded, pretending to be nonchalant. "yep, i'm their goddess, didn't you know? to them i am everything..you should bow at my feet!... and provide me with a stool so i can look down on you!" she said, lifting her chin in mock pride, managing to put on a 'superior -like' look and then shaking her head and laughing. she didn't mind children, she thought some of them were quite adorable when they wanted to be - she didn't really like babies, she'd had an experience with them once or twice from family members who'd had kids or whatever. but roxy still wanted to be a mother someday, obviously not now. that would be stupid. but someday, when she found the right guy and settled down. no, she was not going to link lucas with right guy. no damn it. roxy cut her thoughts off quickly and focused on luke as he spoke. "We're definitely too cool for school. That's why we're leaving it behind after this year." roxy smiled, nodding slightly, but there was a touch of sadness in her expression. hogwarts had been some of the best years of her life, she didn't want to leave it behind and go out into the big wide world alone. of course she had to, but it was sadening to think of everything .. and everyone .. she'd be leaving behind. she hoped that things went okay, that everyone achieved what they wanted and had a good life, but she wanted most of all to keep in touch with everyone. glancing at luke, she bit her lip. " hey, we'll keep in touch right?" she asked, sounding hopeful as she gazed at him. either way, luke was still a good friend, and she would really miss him once they went seperate ways. of course, they didn't have to fall off the face of the earth from each other right? they could keep in touch ... ? as they headed off down the corridor, roxy noted how quickly lucas started to stride out, covering the ground a lot quicker than she could. "hey now no fair!" she grinned, sure she had long legs... for her height, but he had a lot more inches on her, and she couldn't walk that fast. "Hurry up, slowpoke," roxy rolled her eyes and shook her head. "play nice, shunpike..or i'll be forced to hex a few inches off your height.. knock you down a peg or two. " she grinned, teasingly taking her wand out of her pocket and waving it at him in a mock threatening way. of course she would never hex him, he knew that, but still .. no fair walking that fast. she smiled as he waited for her, jogging a couple of steps to catch up and going to nudge him. " so, are you going to slow down now? or do i have to make good on my hex promise?" she teased, ignoring the jump of her heart as she made to nudge him. she was quiet for a few moments as they walked, noting that luke kept looking back sightly at her - probably to check she was keeping up. sure the pace was quicker than she normally walked for her but she was fine with it. she felt like he was looking out for her, which made her fell .. safe? protected? who knew, it made her feel better anyway - at least if those stupid slytherins were out there... she could hide behind lukes tall over 6ft frame, rigth? "We're not going to be able to get popcorn," roxy paused and looked at lucas as they reached the seventh floor, feeling it hadn't taken any time at all. "The room of requirement can't create food from nothing." oooh yeah... that was right. roxy pulled a face. damn. "We could- er... well, I could, you don't have to come with, anyways, I could run down to the kitchens... I'm sure the house elves would be all too happy to help us out," roxy chewed her lower lip and looked at him. all the way up to the seventh floor, then all the way down to the basement and back again? damn they were gonna waste some time. but roxy didn't want him to go by himself, she was enjoying his company far too much. she smiled slightly and shook her head. "i'll come with you...we'll need drink too you know, i can help carry it." she said, not minding really, in the slightest. " just means we'll be walking off the popcorn before we eat it right?" she grinned, teasing the idea of calories from the popcorn. roxy wasn't that health concious for a girl - she was happy with her weight and her figure, and she wasn't going to stick to salad all her life. hell no - there was far too much good bad stuff out there. popcorn included. she was much to like the lads in respect to food - she'd choose sausages or hamburgers over salad and breadsticks any day. she was just lucky that she stuck to her slim frame she supposed. roxy smiled and made to step forward again back toward the stairs, striding out long until she was a little way away from lucas and turning to pause and look back at him, grinning. "come on slowpoke.." she teased, watching him lightly. "hmm .. so what should we make the place look like?? a good ol' fashioned lounge? ooor a plain tv and chairs ooor ... ooh a cinema?" she pondered allowed, visioning each one seperately. uh well the lounge idea might be a bit uh intimate - them too on a couch. uh right.. the chair and tv set idea sounded too dull... hmm but the cinema. ooh an empty cinema for them two would be fun! throwing popcorn at the screen when the bad guys came on, making as much noise as they want with laughing and booing, putting their feet up on seats?! yeah that was the way to go, they just needed the snacks. ( ooc , lols noooo it's cool!! it's awesome that you have so much muuuse xD you're posts gimme so much to bounce off with roxy xD )

“I prefer to stand out from the crowd, ya know. If everyone else is worshipping you, I think I’d prefer to be the one lone soul screaming for your downfall.” Nah, Luke wasn’t that much of an anarchist. He liked to cause trouble, sure, and he liked to be unique, yes, but going against the flow of things for the sake of nothing more was plain stupidity.
Before going to his seventh year his parents, well his mother, really, had given him a nice long conversation about his last year of school. Much of it had focused on his grades, stressing that his seventh year was when marks really counted. Other focus points had been on the teachers; to remain respectful and not ruin seven years at the school by a flare of temper. And then final point had been friends. Admittedly, it had come out of the blue to Lucas. He’d seen no reason why friends should be an issue in his final year. But his parents had told him that he had to prepare himself for a lot of distance between himself and the people he’d grown up with. He had to enjoy the year, but not fool himself with delusions that he would keep in touch with every single one of his pals. His mother had punctuated the point by telling him of her best friend, Jaime McClellen. Apparently the two had been inseperable in their seven years at Beauxbatons, but lost touch only a month afterwards and when they’d run into each other three weeks before, neither had recognized the other. Lucas had brushed off the tale as a parent’s foolish warning, but now that he was actually in his seventh year faced with exams and a school year that already seemed to have passed in the blink of an eye, he could see their points. It was unnerving… but the curse of distance would only affect his relationships if he allowed them to, right?
“Of course we’ll tr-“ No, try sounded far too dreary. To put it in a Lucas-like way… it would suck Yule Balls to lose contact with Roxy. She was an amazing friend, and probably among the very last, if not the last, of his fellow seventh years that he would ever want to or accept losing contact with. They’d had their arguments… and definitely their awkward times after the whole break-up thing, but she was still one of his closest friends now. He didn’t want to lose a friendship like that just because of a bit of difference. School, their ages, and their house were not the only things they had in common, so their friendship should not end outside the walls of Hogwarts. “Er… no, we won’t try. We’ll do. There’s no way I’m letting you get away from me that easily, don’t worry.” He offered her another crooked grin, running his hand through his hair rather awkwardly. Didn’t that sound utterly cheesy and overplayed, as well as a bit too suggestive of the butterflies growing in Lucas' stomach with every passing second around Roxy. Damn moths needed to die.
“Oooh, the rebellious prefect… way to set a good example for the young’uns, Roxy.” Lucas certainly wasn’t one to talk. He taught little kids to distract teachers in the halls, shoot the perfect spitball, and antagonize Peeves in just the right way to cause havoc for everyone around. Teachers would probably breathe sighs of relief when he left the school, unable to do anymore to pass on his ‘skills’ to younger students. But he was so far quite confident that he was going to pass the torch well, hopefully leaving many little ones to follow in his footsteps and keep the halls of Hogwarts lively for years after his marks wore off. “I’d just let the nurse’s grow me back, and give me an extra inch or two to tower above you even more, he warned, but his pace slowed anyway. He was enjoying her company too much to leave her in the dust completely.
He couldn’t say her agreeing to come with him disappointed him. Her company would be all too welcome, though she wouldn’t really have been needed to help carry things. After all, Hogwarts was a school of magic. He could just ‘Wingardum Leviosa’ a tray to float alongside him on his way back to the corridor without any trouble at all. But if the excuse worked… hey, he’d be crazy to complain.
“Well, there goes my idea of surprising you with a perfect movie theatre,” he sighed in exaggerated disappointment. Really, he wasn’t at all disappointed that she was thinking along the same lines as he was. It just proved how great they were for each other- er… as friends…right? "'Course, who really knows what the room'll give us... The biggest movie theatre in the world or a home theatre, whatever it is it'll be cool." The room of requirement was random, odd, and unpredictable. If you asked it for a bathroom it could give you one with plumbing made of gold or one that looked right out of a subway. You could give it the general idea of what you wanted, but nothing could be planned completely. Lucas rather liked the unpredictability of it.
“Now, we could get proper exercise,” he agreed to what she’d said before they had set off about calories, “or we could take the lazy man’s route, and be there in a matter of seconds.” He drew nearer to the left hand side wall, where a picture of a seaside mansion hung on the wall, nearly as tall as Lucas himself. He reached out to the painted door of the mansion, and ‘knocked’ with his finger three times, watching as the door swung open and enlarged until it filled the entire painting. The frame was now entirely pitch black as Lucas reached his hand through it to make sure the trick had worked. Behind, or rather through, the frame was now a pitch-black cave-like passageway. Lucas, who had taken the path many times in his years of schooling, knew it would open into a similar painting on the hall of the kitchen’s fruit painting. He stepped to the side, gesturing his hand like a butler. "Ladies first."
(OOC: Sorry for the wait, luff! )

“I prefer to stand out from the crowd, ya know. If everyone else is worshipping you, I think I’d prefer to be the one lone soul screaming for your downfall.” roxy laughed lightly and looked at him, grinning up at him. "well you're tall enough to stand out... but my downfall? really? and i thought we were friemds.." she frowned jokingly, then unable to keep it up, she smiled again. why was it she couldn't be annoyed at luke - not even jokingly mad. maybe it was that grin of his - the one that made her heart do a little skip...not that it should be doing that anyway. it couldn't be very good for her health for her heart to keep skipping like that, and then raising and then going back to normal ... why did it keep doing that anyway? was there something wrong with her? “Of course we’ll tr-“ roxy looked at lucas as he spoke, biting her lip at the slightly dubious tone. try .. it sounded a little feeble, like they'd attempt but not really mind if it didn't work... well roxy would sure as hell mind. despite the slight awkwardness they'd gone throw post-break up, she'd always felt that lucas was a good friend, that feeling only having heightened once they'd entered their seventh year and she'd found herself drawing closer to him again - right til now, with those stupid little flutterings of her heart and the stupid grins she kept flashing at him..and she was sure her eyes were probably betraying her a little . “Er… no, we won’t try. We’ll do. There’s no way I’m letting you get away from me that easily, don’t worry.” that was what she -loved- about lucas.. he made her smile and so she grinned at him again. "like i'd want to get away from you lucas." she said, the tone much more serious than she'd meant and she blushed, the rose tinging her cheeks as she looked away quickly, biting her full lower lip. she'd meant for it to sound teasing - even if it was true.. she wouldn't want to get away from him .. but it'd come out sincere and she worried he might see something by it. admittedly, maybe there was something by it but still, lucas didn't like her past the whole 'friend' thing anything... she was only going to embarrase herself if she wasn't careful - kinda like now. “Oooh, the rebellious prefect… way to set a good example for the young’uns, Roxy.” she jumped at the change in topic, not wanted to dwell on her little comment back there and she glanced back at him, rolling her eyes lightly. "i set a perfect example thank you ... much better than yourself." she teased, knowing his habit of passing things on to the younger years on occasoin - perhaps to continue on his legacy? roxy herself didn't really have much to pass on, she didn't really prank or find secret passageways, and she never got into duels... the closest she came to a duel was if a slytherin picked on her, and that was usually them trying to hex her and her 'protego'ing and then trying to get away... “I’d just let the nurse’s grow me back, and give me an extra inch or two to tower above you even more," she laughed lightly and rolled her eyes a second time, shaking her head. "dream on lukey ... if you get some extra inches, i want some too.." she raised her eyebrows at him, teasing him with the nickname. she didn't usually call him by that, only when she was teasing him - she didn't think he liked it that much, but if he ever protested she'd cease saying it of course. anything for lucas. roxy quickly brushed aside that thought with an almost-frown. she glanced at luke as he made to speak again, listening to him. “Well, there goes my idea of surprising you with a perfect movie theatre,” she smiled lightly and raised one eyebrow at him. " you can still surprise me if you waaaant.." her smile became a grin, with a surprisingly cheeky edge. geez what was with her today?! she caught herself and dropped the grin to a small smile, again confused by her own actions but shrugging it off. she couldn't possibly be developing a crush on lucas could she? well .. she could see how she could. he was such an incredible guy... he was sweet, considerate... he made her laugh .. he looked out for her, he had so much in common with her and well .. he was cute. she knew she shouldn't be thinking it..after all .. they were friends now..they'd been out. but... something about her couldn't help it ... she knew it now ... was was starting to fall for lucas .. again. "'Course, who really knows what the room'll give us... The biggest movie theatre in the world or a home theatre, whatever it is it'll be cool." she smiled lightly, shaking herself from her thoughts and trying to push them aside and nodding in response to what he'd said. it was true... the room was always unpredictable... but roxy loved surprises, she thought it was great! “Now, we could get proper exercise,” roxy looked at lucas, sure that he was about to continue speaking, “or we could take the lazy man’s route, and be there in a matter of seconds.” roxy raised her eyebrows and smiled. "you know a short cut?" she asked in interest, never herself having stumbled across one and she found her intrest piqued immediatly. "though you know...better be careful you don't get fact lucas." she joked, lightly going to poke his stomach gently and grinning, doubting someone like lucas could ever get fat. she followed him over to the painting, eyebrows raised in confusion as she watched what he did. her eyes widen as the hole slowly took over the whole picture and she gasped quietly. "wow that's so cool.." she said quietly, glancing at lucas and grinning lightly. she wondered how he'd found that! she'd never have dreamed of putting her finger to a painting and knocking on the painted door.. "Ladies first." roxy grinned and looked at him. "so when you were saying earlier that you wanted to plan my downfall .. was this what you meant? sending me into a dark cave on the pretense that it leads to the kitchen .. whereas really.. it's a death trap." she teased, smiling at him. "but i apprechiate the manners kind sir." she grinned and teasingly reached up - rather high - to go and ruffle his hair, before going to step through the painting, having to lift herself a little in order to get in. ( ooc , tis okay jadeeey i hope you don't mind my post.. roxy had to figure it out sooner or later xD oh and btw, in roxy and cade's thread we've decided it's just going to be them talking about just being friends sooo .. once that's done the road will be clear for ROXAS! )

“It’s all been to lull you into a false sense of security, but you’re not supposed to know that, so forget I said anything,” Lucas grinned, again having to push some of his hair away from his eyes. In the summer his mother would generally be clamoring for him to get a haircut. She’d even once gone so far as to use magic to get ropes to tie him to a chair while she gave him a very unflattering buzz cut a few years ago. Lucky for the Gryffindor teen, his hair grew like a weed and never took long to grow back to a length he was comfortable with (however much his mother hated it). Despite the fact that he sometimes felt like he was constantly flicking his hair away from his eyes, he felt the look suited him and damned anyone who thought otherwise.
His mind read into those words far too much: ‘like I’d want to get away from you’. What did that mean? Nothing, was his conscience’s instant response. It simply meant that they were good friends, and there was no reason for them to want to leave each other behind after the school year was done. They’d had their little awkward moments and bits of anger around the time of the break up, but nothing so serious as to keep a grudge against one another. They were close now, and like any close relationship to have it fall apart would suck. That’s all she’d meant by those words… right? He felt like he should say something in response, but for once the boy had no comeback, so he felt like a fool just standing there, likely grinning like some lovesick fool- wait, lovesick? Why did that word cross his mind?
“Are you saying I’m a poor influence on the kiddies?” he asked in horror, trying to hide a smirk. Had he stopped smiling, or grinning, or smirking for a single second since they’d bumped into each other at the library? “I teach them not to let rules and preset ideas of what is proper rule their lives. I teach them freedom and fun… and a bit of danger. They love me. I’d say I’m an excellent role model.” Well, if not anything else, he wasn’t a bad role model. He didn’t teach violence or drugs or just all around poor behavior. And, despite what some believed, Lucas was responsible. He liked his pranks and wild times, but he knew when something crossed the line. He really hoped that he wasn’t such a terrible influence to kids, because he didn’t want to have to change a bunch just to be a good parent when he had children of his own…
Lukey… though Lucas generally tried to stray away from those stupid ‘love’ phrases, his heart may have skipped a beat at the simple pet name that was so much more informal than his actual name, especially from her lips. Why? Why did that happen? …A trick of his mind. That was it. She probably had just called him Luke, or something, and his mind had added the ‘y’ to make it a bit more a pet name… damn mind. Couldn’t it just… shut up?
The cheeky tone, the grin… he hoped he didn’t show exactly what went through his mind at that time. Feeling very much like a nervous thirteen year old, he swallowed and hoped the smile on his face didn’t seem too ‘I’m trying to hide my reaction’ish. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. It’s not a surprise if you know something’s coming.”
Lucas was very good friends with Fred Weasley, who was the son of one of the infamous twins (who also happened to be Lucas’ idols). The Marauders map that the twins had used back in their days at Hogwarts was now in the possession of one of the Potter boys… James, Lucas thought, but George Weasley had been bound to pass down a few of the secret passages to his son, who in turn had shared them with Lucas. The blonde haired guy had used this passage a few times, but not too often seeing as, really, what possible use was there for it? The only thing in this area was the room of requirement and unless he was down by the kitchens and trying to avoid a group of Slytherins, angry at the dung bomb he’d placed right outside their dungeon, there weren’t many uses for this particular passageway. The poke to his stomach made his eyes widen and he jerked away, not because he was offended by the touch or anything but because Lucas was quite possibly one of the most ticklish guys in his grade. Hoping she hadn’t noticed his reaction, he let himself relax and grin. “You can’t be Fred Weasley’s friend without catching onto at least a few short cuts around the school,” he explained. “And I get exercise in other ways! Like… making Peeves chase me around the school, or getting hordes of Slytherins to chase me after a prank.”
He felt a sort of satisfaction at being able to make her be ‘in awe’, even if the awe was at the passageway and not his knowledge of it. “Yes. Welcome to your doom,” he spoke in a low, overdramatic tone, for once keeping his face serious for about… three seconds before the grin was back. He like this. Her teasing, the joking, her smiles always directed at him… he became too wrapped up in noticing the said cute smile of hers to notice her movement, and ducked a second too late to avoid her hair ruffling. “Hey, watch the hair!” But he couldn’t manage to sound serious. Not at all.
He followed her through the painting, jumping up into the passageway to land on both feet in a typical Lucas fashion. A bit of light from the hall filled the first bit of the passageway, but died to nothing as the painting reappeared behind them, leaving the duo in pitch blackness. Now… normally Lucas would just whip out his wand and mutter a quick ‘lumos’ to make it glow and shed some light, but as his hand went to his pocket he hesitated. You could hear a pin drop in the passageway, the only noise audible to him being Roxy’s quiet breathing… She was right in front of him, to his right, right beside the wall. So close…
When exactly the decision passed through his mind, he would never know. He could see nothing, but from the fading light a few moments before he knew exactly where she was, and he closed the small distance between them in an instant. With his luck, she’d probably slap him, but right now he didn’t care. His hands moved to her waist as his lips found hers in a kiss that he found he was in no hurry to cut off.

“It’s all been to lull you into a false sense of security, but you’re not supposed to know that, so forget I said anything,” roxy laughed lightly and watched him push the hair from his eyes, shaking her head lightly. she knew not many people liked guys with long hair.. well lucas' wasn't long, it was shaggy. but it suited him, and she prefered it that way than that buzz cut she remember seeing him with a while back. well, it had grown out quickly, lucky for him. roxy would never let anyone touch her hair with scissors unless they followed exactly what she wanted them to do. "you should know by now i have excellent memory.. no chance i'll forget. but hell maybe i should hire a bodyguard... " she said with a grin, a slight cheeky edge to it once more - but more teasing then anything. she wouldn't of course, if she was going to hire a bodyguard for anything it'd be to get the damn slytherins off her back, but hell who would bodyguard her? originally she'd have thought cade, but no .. they were going through that awkward 'we kinda dated and now we've had to -let's just be friends- talk'.. so she was kinda by-passing him at the moment. hell weirdly, even thinking about cade when she was with lucas felt ... wrong. like.. thoughs of lucas kept butting in as if she should be thinking just about him. was that weird? maybe she was being weird. gah she didn't know, but she made to push it out of mind...
“Are you saying I’m a poor influence on the kiddies?” she grinned, trying to feign an innocent expression whilst shaking her head. "no.. course not.." she said, unable to hide the half smirk as much as he was unable to hide his own grin. what was it about them both that they couldn't stop grinning at each other? “I teach them not to let rules and preset ideas of what is proper rule their lives. I teach them freedom and fun… and a bit of danger. They love me. I’d say I’m an excellent role model.” she rolled her eyes lightly. "so basically.. you teach them to be unruly, irresponsible trouble makers who refuse to listen to authoritive figures?" she teased, only joking. she knew that despite lucas' joking he was a good guy, and he was really good with the kids. something on the edge of her mind stirred at that thought but hell to the NO was she going to let herself go there, and so quickly she couldn't even visit that tiny little voice she moved on.
“Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. It’s not a surprise if you know something’s coming.” she looked up at him and grinned lightly, a little weird flutter of.. nerves? in her stomach. really? nerves for what? she didn't know but something had made the flutterin in her stomach and it wasn't exactly bad nerves. she tried to squash them pretty damned fast, not wanting to try and understand what had caused them.. perhaps something to do with him and his talk of surprises.... “You can’t be Fred Weasley’s friend without catching onto at least a few short cuts around the school,” she grinned lightly and nodded slightly. ah well that made sense. fred weasley was son of the infamous george weasley - who had been known in his time, along with his twin brother - to know of secret passageways and create havok on many occasions. “And I get exercise in other ways! Like… making Peeves chase me around the school, or getting hordes of Slytherins to chase me after a prank.”
roxy laughed gently and looked up at him, rolling her eyes lightly. " because you're far to abnormal to get exercise in a normal way right?" she teased, shaking her head. "because you know..you can just jog... like a normal person. doesn't need to be anyone chasing. or is the chasing motiviation? like .. you might dangle a carrot infront of one of those donkey's to make it go.." she grinned, laughing lightly. she herself had been known to go for the occasional jog.. if she woke up extra early she would sometimes waste an hour or something with a jog, but generally she didn't really bother.
she laughed once more - seriously with all the laughing!? - as he shifted away from the poke and her eyes lit up with mischeif. "you're ticklish!?" she grinned widely. awe now that would be too much fun to resit. roxy herself was a little ticklish, but he seemed much more so than her, and heck she could never resist teasing him like that now... " Yes. Welcome to your doom,” she raised her eyebrows and looked at him. "wow.. that sounds omminous..." she grinned and shook her head, giggling .. yes giggling!! when he said, “Hey, watch the hair!” her fingers tingling after the contact with his soft locks, and she begged to run her hands through it properly. lucky though, she managed to hold herself back.
as she heard him enter the tunnel behind her she paused to wait for him, glancing to her left to see where he was as the passageway closed behind them, retracting the soft lighting of the hall and leaving them in darkness. roxy didn't move. something held her in place, so silent that she could hear both their sets of quiet breathing. she thoughts maybe she should say something.. but something else held her back..
...and then she felt hands at her waist. lucas' large hands, warm through the frabric of her robes and strong and safe as ever. she jumped at first but quickly relaxed in his hold, for some reason she altomatically turned her head up and within need for light nor sense, her lips sought his..and found them. she was surprised yes, but other that that the only thing she felt was.. joy. through no concious thought her arms made for his shoulders before going to loop gently around his neck, pushing herself right onto her tip toes to try and held with the whole 'height difference thing'. she didn't want him to pull away, kissing him was both familiar and new, safe and exciting. it was like none of those other kissing with those boys, and right then lucas invaded her mind, and all she thought of was him...

Everything that had been said before his lips pressed against hers, every teasing taunt and witty reply he may have given, was wiped right out of Lucas’ head the moment that kiss began. Every train of rational thought disappeared to nothing, as though his world was entirely filled with the invisible girl in the blackness with him. How long had it been since he’d last been able to do this? Since he'd last had his arms wrapped around her and his lips locked with hers? Far, far too long.
He remembered their first days when they’d dated ages ago. How he’d been so timid, so terrified to even hold her hand… he knew he’d blushed pure crimson when he’d finally worked up the courage to take her palm in his; it had been another week before he’d been able to do so in public and two before he’d kissed her for the first time. Even for as young as he’d been back then, that had been pretty pathetic, but Roxy had always had that affect on him. He considered himself to be a generally confident guy, but he wanted to impress her so much sometimes that he would act the opposite and clamp up around her. Even now, years older and with a steady friendship going, there was still something about her that could bring out another side of him. Sure, it may not seem like too drastic a change, but he was 100% himself when he was around Roxy. There was no holding back in his jokes, or pranks, or the calmer side of himself. And somehow he’d still managed to convince himself that he was over her…
In the midst of the kiss they ended up near the wall; Lucas could feel the outer edge of his fingers pressing slightly against the rough surface where they stayed firmly pressed against her waist. It may not have been just a mere peck of a kiss, but Lucas had enough self control and respect for Roxy to not let his hands slip any lower. He knew that there were more piggish men, or boys rather, at the school who would have no shame and would have loved to let their hands roam over her perfect body, but Lucas wasn't like that. Roxy as his friend as much as she was a gorgeous girl, and if she were just a random girl that there would be no guilt over using he wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
“Um… surprise?” …Really, Lucas? You just make out with your ex, and the first thing you say afterwards is ‘um’? Real smooth. The thought, the first understandable words in his brain, brought him back to reality, to his situation and what he'd just done. His lips were only a few inches away from hers, his hands still firmly pressed against her as though the contact reassured him that this was all real.
Oh shit. It's real.
Instinct made him want to move back, to drop his arms to his sides and stumble backwards until his own back was pressed against the opposite wall and he was far, far away from his ex, but he was frozen in place exactly as he was. What had he just done? Why had he just done it? Damn mindless actions... he should have thought! She was going to slap him, wasn't she? Sure, it had felt as though she'd been kissing him back and hadn't minded, but that was probably just his own stupidity making him think that... oh God, Roxy was going to hate him.

somehow during all the wonderful kissing, roxy realised they'd moved toward the wall. she could feel it lightly pressed to her back, a few strands of her long hair clinging to the rough of it, but the pressure was light - lighter than lucas' large warm hands firmly on her waist. she felt an admiration for him - right at the back of her mind where a slight thought was able to push through the rose coloured haze of 'wow'. lucas' hands had not strayed from their rest on her small waste, and that was sign enough that he was a decent guy. a lot of guys roxy knew would have taken full advantage with wandering hands, pushing her too far. but luke hadn't. no, he'd kept the kiss as it's simplest, causing it to mean so much more than just some 'fumble' in the dark. it was sweet and innocent but there was an edge to it, perhaps almost feverish but not quite, that caused roxy to wonder if they were really over each other..
..no, no thinking. she disliked the idea of ruining this with some stupid thoughts trying to analyse what was going on. she remembered the earlier days when they'd first been together, how simply adorable lucas had been in his shyness, and whenever he'd made a step forward with them - holding her hand or a gentle kiss - she'd tried to encourage him, tell him that it was alright, that he wasn't pushing too far or anything. she felt lucky that she always got to see him at his best - not just the teasing, and joking..but that softer side that she doubted everyone saw in him. her lips curved up in a small smile, matching his movement as her hands lightly wound into his thick locks, unable to help themselves. she didn't think she had the self restraint to pull away...that was all going to be up to him.
as lucas pulled away, she finally did so too, her breathing quicker, heart pounding her ribcage. “Um… surprise?” she would have laughed if she hadn't been so shocked herself...the realisation of what they'd just done catching up on her. she could feel the heat of his lips still inches from hers, the sweetness of his breath on own lips, still slightly parted in more surprise than anything. "i uhm... " she cleared her throat slightly, at a loss of what to say in response, a blush tinging her cheeks as she looked at roughly where she thought his eyes might be " .. wow?" she literally had nothing else to say - roxy, who was usually pretty quick thinking in situations, had no coherent thoughts...they were a mess of confusion. what had just happened? why had they done that? why hadn't she stopped it? was she really over him...?
she knew not what else to say and so remained quiet, still feeling his hands on her waist, the wall lightly against her back. she couldn't really move, she'd have to push him away and somewhere in her mind, roxy didn't want to push him away ... she didn't want him to go anywhere. but ... urgh the confusion. roxy bit her lower lip, stopping herself as she realised she could still taste him, still remember the pressure of his lips on hers, and she ducked her head, cheeks flaming now and glad of the dark. though it would help some if they could possibly see each other... making a decision, and only now realising her arms where still happily linking around his neck, roxy made to -reluctantly- move them and take her wand from her pocket. "lumos." she murmered, directly the light away slightly to avoiding blinding either of them, but allowing enough light to finally see each other.. she didn't know what to say -still!- and could only glance at him nervously, as though expecting him to push away from her and walk away quickly in disgust.

One kiss. One kiss was not worth destroying their friendship over. What the hell had he just done? Yeah, sure, distance wouldn’t ruin their friendship after the end of the year because he’d probably just ruined it with awkwardness with one instinctive, stupid, non-thinking action. Now Lucas understood those little muggle cartoons when characters would slam their heads against the wall for comedic effect, but there was nothing funny about this. He just wanted to beat the stupidity out of his brain and hit rewind on the magical remote control of life so that he could delete the entire kiss.
Apparently, or at least he assumed so, she was just as flustered as he was based on the fact that neither could seem to form a solid coherent sentence. Of course, in Roxy’s case, Lucas definitely assumed that her lack of words was made in an attempt to disguise fury at him. She probably thought that he was a pathetic pig, dragging her into a pitch black tunnel just to make out… Lucas was expecting to feel the slap across his face at any second now, the sting might actually be a bit of a refreshing wake up call to reality that this was his ex-girlfriend and not someone he should think of kissing, or thoroughly enjoy doing so with.
For no apparent reason at all, Lucas’ mother crossed his mind. The woman was a strong romantic, the type of mom who would drill him for information on the latest girl he was chasing after and give him advice if things seemed to be going wrong. She kind of took on both the father and mother roll in a way, he supposed. She’d looooved Roxy back when they dating. So much that it was thoroughly embarrassing for Lucas to ever bring his girlfriend up. It was probably the family name that had caught on to such approval from his mom, but regardless, Audrey had adored Roxy. Somehow Lucas thought that if Roxy were to flip out on him, his mother would side with her. He was out of line, kissing her, right? All it was going to do is ruin the connection they did have, and-
While his rambling thoughts had been going on Lucas had been vaguely aware of her arms unwinding themselves from their comfortable place around his neck. A moment later the darkened passageway was flooded with a gentle light from her wand so that they could see each other properly. She looked about a tenth as nervous as she felt, though why he couldn’t possibly imagine. She hadn’t been the instigator of the kiss. Realizing that his hands were still at her waist, he took a fumbling step backwards, moving his right hand to rub the back of his neck, a long time nervous habit.
“W-We should probably go… I mean, we’re… er… it’s getting late..r… and we’ve only got so much time to watch the movie… that is, er… unless you’ve changed your mind.”

roxy bit her lip, her light eyes on his shadowed face, of which she could see held the most nervous expression she'd ever seen on a guy. it was almost comical, and it was mostly sheer will power that she didn't laugh out loud - she doubted it would do anything to lighten this hevay atmosphere upon them both. she could only assume he was nervous of her reaction - but as she hadn't slapped him or shouted already, couldn't he assume she wasn't going to at all?
she hoped to god this didn't ruin their friendship. after those talks before about not letting the holidays get in their way... did this mean that one silly mistake ... roxy wasn't sure why she couldn't admit that that was what it was - they were friends, this wasn't going to make hanging out with him more comfortable now was it? it was like she... it wasn't as though she still ... roxy let the thoughts trailed off, not finishing them as she felt lucas take her warm hands from his waist, and take a step back. she, herself, stepped forward to move away from the wall and ran a hand through her hair at the same time he rubbed the back of his neck, causing her to smile slightly at the similiarity of it. she ran a hand over her robes, just straightening them a little and exhaling slowly. rational thought appeared to have returned, and she couldn't be more glad. there was nothing worse than neither of them having nothing to say.
“W-We should probably go… I mean, we’re… er… it’s getting late..r… and we’ve only got so much time to watch the movie… that is, er… unless you’ve changed your mind.” she nodded, then stopped quickly, realising he might have thought she was nodding to him wondering if she'd changed her mind. she defnetly hadn't. "no... no i havn't changed my mind. why would i? it's star wars!" she said with a smile, trying to slip back into their teasing before. she didn't want this to be awkward, not like when they'd first broken up... that had been awful. one minute she'd had lucas in her life, and then she'd lost him - not only as her boyfriend, but as her best friend.... she didn't want to loose him again, not over this.
she lifted her wand a little once there was a bit more space between them to illuminate the tunnel furhter and she glanced at him. again, the nervous look on his face made her want to grin, and this time she allowed it. if they didn't want things to be awkward then they were going to have to let themselves slip back into their playfullness. "relax luke-" she was about to say lukey.. tease him with the pet name like earlier, but after the kiss she realised it would not be the best idea and so she quickly cut the name before the 'y', hoping he didn't notice the slight fumble of his name. "you look like you're expecting an attack... " she smiled and teased him lightly, though there wasn't quite the gusto there usually would be behind her tease, she was still trying to dispell the awkward. it would help if he didn't look worried, and the only way she could do that was to reassure him. no, she wasn't mad over that .. confused, yes.. though she wouldn't admit it. what confused her most was herself. she wanted to say 'lets forget about it' or 'its alright, it didn't mean anything' but somehwere deep down, something in roxy kept protesting to those words she tried to form..and so she didn't say them. they were friends now.. they shouldn't kiss like that ... and it shouldn't have meant anything. the thing was, it felt like it did...

Wait, what? She wasn't about to slap him, or scream at him, or curse him for being such an impulsive fool? ...That was kinda cool, in his opinion. He could do without the red imprint of her perfect hand on his cheek, or her angry words ringing through the tunnel-like passageway and his ears. But at the very least, if she weren't about to freak out on him, he expected for her to make some hasty excuse of why she should be leaving and their little movie marathon would have to be post-poned. He was struggling to keep such an excuse within his lips, anyways. Apparently, though, that was not in Roxy's plan for the day, and if she wasn't going to be the one to back out of their ordeal, he could suck up a bit of awkwardness... right?
"Y-yeah," he chuckled, offering a slight smile. Star wars... right. He wanted to make some witty come back to her comment, like he usually would, to settle them back into joking banter, but he was on edge and it clearly showed. His brain failed him when it came to his usual comebacks and replies, so he awkwardly let himself fall silent, slowly letting his hand drop from its place at his neck. "We should uh... hurry, then. Before the room's stolen from us by some other coup- I mean, group." He hadn't meant to say couple in that way. If he'd allowed the word to sneak through his lips it would have been meant in more of the 'couple of pals' way, but now he was thinking everything that came out of his mouth through. That was odd. Lucas Shunpike, as a rule, did not think things through before doing them.
He kind of wished that the light were off and that the two of them were in darkness again... no, not so that he could surprise her with another kiss. Being able to see her face somehow multiplied the awkwardness by a million. She was able to see every little look that passed his eyes; every expression and twitch of his mouth or moment spent too long staring at her eyes... he shook his head ever so slightly, causing his hair to whip ever so slightly around his face. The taps of hair against his forehead and eyes tried to bring him back into reality. Snap out of it, lover boy! The last time Lucas had gotten so awkward over something was... well, he really couldn't remember. Probably back in the early days of his relationship with Roxy. There were very few things that seemed to affect the seventh year like she did. He could walk into the great hall soaking wet from his latest balloon battle with Peeves, in the middle of one of Kingsley's speeches so that he attracted attention and all eyes were on him, and not even blink. But god forbid he kissed his girlfr- ex-girlfriend. That got him totally tongue tied and worse.
One kiss does not mean you're back together! he scolded himself for the way his mind had nearly called her his girlfriend in reference to the kiss. A relationship was not wise. Not now. How many times had his mother told him that if a relationship didn't work out the first time, it wouldn't work out the second, either? All relationships, or hopefully all but the one you were meant to spend the rest of your life with, would fall apart for a reason. An impulsive kiss did not mean he actually had feelings for Roxy still, right? It was just... impulsive. Lucas rather liked that word a lot. Besides, Roxy had been hanging around Cade Wood an awful lot, and a pretty girl like her probably had ten guys chasing after her, with her eye on at least one of them... nothing was going to happen. The kiss meant nothing whatsoever, which was why it was so incredibly awkward, right?
"Well... it is a dark tunnel. You never know what might be lurking in the shadows." There, that was a better attempt at a bit of light-hearted-ness, wasn't it? Nevermind the fact that it had nothing to do with them or the kiss- actually, yes, mind that. He hoped that it redirected the conversation and their minds quite well, though he somehow guessed that his mind would not easily be set off course from those moments with his lips pressed against hers... AW SHUT IT.
(So much denial! My mind is blown! Oh, and guess what? Apparently if you yell at Lucas for long enough, he works for you!)
