“I don’t think it would do much good to abolish the houses either. It’s been a tradition here for some time, I’m guessing, and I presume that children grow up dreaming of sitting on that chair and being sorted by that Hat. It would be terrible to take that away from a child,” taylor nodded slowly, thinking carefully. "indeed some do... i remember myself being rather excited about the idea of being welcomed into a specific house... whoever so many children are scared of where they'll be placed, pressured by family to be in a certain house and some even disowned through the fact of being put in another house besides the one their parents might have wished - through no fault of their own. that is one of the downfalls, but then who's to say it's the houses' fault...surely it's the parents for pressuring in such a way.."
taylor shook her head slightly. some parents could be so forceful on their children, she remembered herself occasions of when she'd felt pushed into something, but she'd been allowed tastes of freedom and independance, which every child shoulder. should she ever have children, she vowed never to force them into anything. one important thing in life was to follow your own path, not one someone else wanted for you. but then again, thinking of children? she wasn't ready for that yet and besides, she didn't even have a husband. but she hoped..in the future. “Ah, the sins of the father are the sins of the son,” she glanced at atticus and nodded, sure that he understood what she was speaking off, and thankful that they seemed so on the same level; it was rather refreshing.
“Though it may take time, but I’m sure the perception that people have of your house can be mended,” she chewed her lip and glanced at him lightly. "i would...like to hope so, but there are some things that will always been and it's a shame to say i think this will be one of them." she said simply, no resentment of judgement in her tone, after all there was no point. sure she had had her issues in the past with her being a former slytherin but generally she'd ignored the stereotypes and been her own person, and people had accepted her for that. others were the same, and if given half the chance they would see that slytherin's are not so different, and that a house does not define you. “It can move you forward if you use it appropriately.” she nodded, hoping what atticus said was true.
as his hands went to her back and her hair, pulling her closer she shifted toward him, pressing her torso right up against him, molding against his strong frame as one of her hands foudn its way into his own hair, running through the dark locks whilst the other trailed lightly along his broad shoulder. his lips were harder against hers now, and his passion met hers as she found herself kissing him back with a slightly hungry edge, forgetting everything except him right now, every sense every thought filled with atticus and her heart hammered her ribcage. heat flooded to her very core, and as he pulled back slightly she took a deep breath, not having realised how hard she was breathing until then. she used the pause to wet her lips slightly, tasting him there and feeling a burst of heat rushing through her viens..and then his lips were back on hers, his moist tongue going to coax her lips open and she yielded easily, lips parting; only too happy to give him whatever he wanted, feeling his want and wishing to give herself to him however he wanted. her own tongue made to touch along his lower lip slightly, further tasting him and emmiting a low moan at the back of her throat. she knew this was getting too heated, that she should pull back but nothing inside of her except that tiny voice at the back of her mind wanted to, and so she ignored it, giving herself completely to the tidal wave of emotions that atticus' lips had sent her on.

“The blame certainly would not go on the houses, but I think rather on the school for putting importance in it. If Hogwarts decides to maintain the houses, that it all good and well, but when they pit the different colours against each other, gaining and losing points for everything, and quidditch matches against the houses, all to end the year with three disappointed houses, it certainly would do nothing for a child’s pride. I myself would also fear being put in any house at all, feeling as if I’d fall into some sort of stereotype with it. As many people see it, I assume that those who are placed into Ravenclaw are the ‘nerds’,” he raised his fingers and put air quotes around the word. “As they so call them. Then the Gryffindors are the ‘good guys’ and as we’ve said, they see those of the Slytherin house as the ‘bad guys’.. while I presume Hufflepuff is seen as the other house that no one really wants to be put into.
“The houses,” he continued. He did have the habit of prattling on and on when he felt strongly on a point. “May appear to be a sort of legacy to the parents, another connection to their children, a thing to be carried through their children; the tradition of being placed in a certain house. I have heard that many students are placed in the houses of their forefathers, which would only mean that the parents would expect as much, just as their parents had of them. Obviously,” he said with a chuckle. “This can all be blamed on the sorting hat.” His family was strong on tradition, and his parents had long ago explained to him that eventually, he’d be expected to return to their home in France, and take up his father’s position in the Ministry. It wouldn’t be a terrible life, being the lord of Beaumont manor, but as many children of this generation were feeling, he didn’t want to be forced into it, though he’d always known it’d be expected of him. He couldn’t blame his parents for pressuring him to take that path; his father had been forced to do it, and his father before him for many generations. Who was he to judge his father for merely doing what was expected of him?
“Even rocks can be eroded,” he said cryptically, though if you thought about it, it made sense. Atticus was a firm believer that things could be changed if you tried hard enough. Obviously, the past couldn’t be altered, or shouldn’t be rather as he knew that it was possible, but the future was just waiting to be molded. Surely it would take much work and many generations, but if Slytherin was determined, they could do it. All it took was the proper methods and teachings, and time to pass so that the deeds of the past would be left there and resolved. After all, for how long can the son pay for the sins of his father?
Slowly, reluctantly, he pulled away from her captivated lips before he felt the urge to push her against the wall came to him. His thoughts were muddled and his body was having a very obvious reaction to her presence, which he did best to calm quickly. “We should not be doing this,” he stated simply, reaching in to peck her lips softly and pull back quickly, lest it turn against him, which he wouldn’t doubt. He could still taste her on his tongue, on his lips, and her smell clouded his senses. He was proud that he managed to pull back before going too far. She affected him far too much for this to be normal. A few deeps breaths and he had taken control of all physical reactions to the taste of her, the feel of her soft, supple lips against his own. Unconsciously, his tongue sneaked out to savour what was left of her taste on his lips, still holding her in his arms, not wanting to let her go.

she looked at atticus, listening. “The houses, May appear to be a sort of legacy to the parents, another connection to their children, a thing to be carried through their children; the tradition of being placed in a certain house. I have heard that many students are placed in the houses of their forefathers, which would only mean that the parents would expect as much, just as their parents had of them. Obviously,” she raised an eyebrow as he chuckled. “This can all be blamed on the sorting hat.” she laughed lightly in return and gazed at him. "i guess there could be blame on any one of those factors.. it is something everyone has contributed to in some way... but there is little to be done. i guess the only thing we can do is .. try to discourage it." she shrugged lightly.
“Even rocks can be eroded,” she chewed her lip .. "mmm ... often depending on the type of rock." she said quietly, not challanging him so much, more just, subtly saying that some people could never be changed. she'd met her fair few of fierce purebloods over the twenty-nine years of her life, who she'd seen shun muggleborns and the idea of muggles so completely it had been shocking. the only thing you could do was try to push aside these people with these views, and ensure they stayed a minority.
as he pulled away she has to force herself not to allow her lips to follow, opening her eyes slowly and looking at him with a slightly glazed over look, her mind her body completely affected by the touch and taste of him. she could feel his own body affected by the kiss and she grinned slightly; pressing her lips to his in return when he pecked hers, and feeling a swell of .. dissapointment.. when he finally pulled back. “We should not be doing this,” she looked at him, trying to calm the pounding of her heart. “we are both adults atticus, I see no reason why we should not..” she said quietly, glancing at him before looking away. She knew, however, the very reasons of which he was referring to, and she surely awaited his 'you know why we can't' but she did not wish to think about them right now. It had been such a long time since she’d been ‘wanted’ by another; her previous relationship had felt her shaken and bruised, and this feeling that she had for atticus was so .. alive. it was more than lust... She knew that they should part ways to save temptation, but she couldn’t bare to move from the encircle of his arms. So where did this leave them? She bit her lower lip, still tasting atticus there as she looked at him, seeing him lick his own lips. Couldn’t this just happen? Even if it was once... the night was almost over and their duties as professors almost at its end. Oh she was so confused, her feelings for atticus were trying to rule her head, waring against her duties to the school. She hated feeling conflicted and she looked at atticus, the conflict clear in her gaze.

“I have found,” he said with short, clipped laughter. “That when people are discouraged from doing something, they want to do it all the more.” It was true; when you told someone not to do something, they were more likely to do it, just for the sheer thrill of breaking a rule or going against what people have told them to do. He himself had done just that. His parents had told him that staying home would be best for him, and he listened to that, but when they had tried to tell him that he shouldn’t travel and wander at his whim, he had wanted to go all the more because it felt like more of a challenge, more of an adventure if he felt like someone disapproved of what he was doing. People, especially young adults like the students of Hogwarts, were particularly susceptible to this type of thinking, and all had their ‘teenage rebellion’ bones. “Discouraging may not be the proper word, however. Perhaps the only thing we can do is try to instil the proper values in the youth as best as we can, so they can make the decision for themselves.”
“Sadly, rocks do have to want to be eroded, or rather, have a crack in them first, I suppose.” He added before swooping down to capture her lips the first time. She’d certainly found the crack in him, even when he hadn’t seen it himself. It was a crack he almost wished hadn’t been there. A crack was, in other words, a weakness, and although he’d come to accept that he had faults, Atticus liked to believe they only made him stronger, that being able to do things in spite of them made him a better person, stronger, able to control himself and see his limits. Those limits, right now, were becoming slowly harder to see and keep in line with.
“Taylor,” he said, grumbling out her name in a scratchy accent, the sound obviously thick with lust and desire, and something else quite particular that even his ears couldn’t pick out. “Adults are not exempt from punishment. I’m sure the Headmaster would not take kindly to discovering that two of his teachers are involved,” he said, not knowing what other word to use. “Much less that they’ve been neglecting patrol because of it.” He couldn’t quite remember it being anywhere in the guidelines, but Atticus was fairly sure that distractions during patrol were in there somewhere, and Miss Paxton was proving to be quite the distraction for him at the moment.
ooc ; it took a while and it's short, but forgive me for I have jet lag

“Taylor,” when he spoke her name in such that way, she couldn't help the shiver tha came from the pit of her stomach. she could hear the lust within that one word, the desire...and she bearly held herself back from murmering his name in the same way...or else throwing herself back into the captivation of those incredible lips of his. but luckily she managed to hold onto at least a sliver of restraint, even though it happened to be so very slim..it was still there. “Adults are not exempt from punishment. I’m sure the Headmaster would not take kindly to discovering that two of his teachers are involved,” she sighed, her mouth becoming a thin line as she pressed her lips together, not eager nor wishing to hear the perfectly acceptable wishes..one's she knew anyway no matter how much she tried to compress them in favour of these feelings atticus ignited within her. she knew her duty to the school - of course she did - and she had to admire atticus' control where he had stopped something which other men would have encouraged without care of consequences. “Much less that they’ve been neglecting patrol because of it.” she inclined her head, and reluctantly began the sorting out of extracting limbs from him, going to unwind her arms from his strong, sure shoulders and even more reluctantly take a step back from him, knowing she would loose the warmth of his body and the comfort of his arms...but she had to obtain some distance lest she give in to the temptation still hammering away at her resolve. "you are, of course, right atticus... forgive me....i should not have been so ..." taylor conceeded as she bit her lower lip in search of the correct word. "bold," she merely settled for. she felt a little ashamed of herself, though of course she knew that he had mirrored her feelings and so she was not as embarrased as she would have been, had atticus not even been the slightest interested in her... but nontheless, she should have had some control. oh you couldn't deny that she wasnt glad they had kissed; it had certainly been one of the better moments in her life...and nothing had ever measured up to the way she'd felt kissing atticus...but still ... she'd been .. unproffessional. unable to help it she glanced at him with a hint of a teasing smile, "perhaps next time i should hope to run into you when we are both free of our duties for the evening.." she knew that perhaps she shouldn't have said it, but she'd just had to... tay knew she was insinuating there would be a next time, and after that she couldn't help wondering if there would be - they were apparently both interested.... but still, she had half wanted him to know, that even though they had duties to attend to at current, she was interested in him... ooc, clips completely forgive dellllipops because she understands entirely...and asks for forgiveness for taylor not responding to what atticus says before the whole kiss-ness buisness...because she felt it was easier to just carry on the thread from after the kiss, rather than just have before and after in every postey xD clips also wonders why she has refered to herself in third person, and what is with all her rambling...

As much as he didn’t to, Atticus had to put a stop to this right now. Not only did he quite like his job, but he was sure that Taylor wasn’t interested in getting in trouble in her first few months here. There was a time and place for such things, and this was not it. He was quite ashamed of himself also; taking advantage of a woman in a dark corridor was hardly gentlemanlike of him. He hadn’t even properly taken her out and he was already attacking her lips. Quite disgraceful. And yet, his eyes still couldn’t tear themselves from her lips, her face, the look in her eyes that was just begging for him to meet her lips with his once again... He knew she’d understand what he meant, and hopefully didn’t assume it meant he wasn’t interested in her at all, because she certainly was. He couldn’t possibly live with her thinking that this was an accident and something he regretted.
“Do not apologize Mademoiselle,” he said in earnest. “This was entire of my doing, for that I must apologize, for I do not regret it.” Reluctantly, he let her pull her limbs from his, itching to have her back in his arms, where she should be, as it was. It was hard, but he managed not to snatch her back, after all, it would only cause more problems. At least she seemed to have enjoyed it, that was good, and he wasn’t feeling the slightest bit guilty about having done it, only that his timing was terrible and the place was hardly appropriate.
He chuckled lightly. “Next time I should hope meeting each other is not accidental. Say Friday night for dinner in Hogsmeade?” he asked hopefully. Maybe meeting off school grounds would be better for them.
ooc ; don't worry about it. and this one is short because... idk.. it is.

“Do not apologize Mademoiselle,” she looked to atticus and gave a small smile, glad that he didn't seem...what was the word? not irritated but ..put off maybe? with her lack of manners or control. “This was entire of my doing, for that I must apologize, for I do not regret it.” her smile widened slightly and she gave a small shake of her head. "not entirely your doing atticus," she lightly 'reprimanded' him, knowing that 'it took two to tango' so to speak. she was just as guilty in fact, more so for had she not brushed her hip against his, she was pretty sure there would have been no kissing whatsoever. which she had to admit was a sad conclusion...she was glad that they had kissed. "neither do i regret it." she added after a small pause, glancing at him.
she didn't regret it, and she knew she wouldn't either. she was thankful that he didn't for it would have surely been awkward if he had when she didn't. but that aside. she kept glancing to him then away, feeling his gaze upon her and not wishing to get caught in his eyes or by those handsome looks of his. it would simply not do for a repeat of what had just happened - well not right here and now anyway. which made her wonder... could this be the start of something? or would they just part ways, call it a moment and move on. she hoped for the former.
as he chuckled lightly, she gave a small smile and glanced back toward him, sure that he was about to speak and wanting to give him her undivided attention. “Next time I should hope meeting each other is not accidental. Say Friday night for dinner in Hogsmeade?” she grinned, surprising herself by blushing faintly as he asked her to dinner; tay didn't blush very often, she was usually pretty confident but there was something about atticus...not wishing to make him wait for an answer she quickly gave a small nod and responded with "i would love to."
ooc, n'awes he asked her out xD haha and dw about it : ) sorry mine's not too great, bit blech this morn'

“Of course it wasn’t me alone,” he said with a chuckle and a sly smile. “But I cannot help but feel like the instigator here.” It was true, he had been the one to react first, and he had also suggested that he’d kiss her. Taylor had lit the match, sure, she had brushed against him first, but he had definitely poured the gasoline over the fire. The comparison made him smile; it has certainly felt like a fire igniting inside him when his lips had touched hers. He could still feel the last remnants of the heat moving from his core outwards trying to escape his body, and settling in the tips of his fingers, making him want to touch her all the more. The fact that he couldn’t control what he was feeling was quite frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. His body was reacting to her, his mind was full of her, and he found that it was quite pleasant. Maybe if he could be completely consumed by thoughts of her, patrolling the halls at night wouldn’t be quite so terrible.
“I’m glad,” he said, smiling at her acceptance of his proposition. He had thought perhaps he had been too bold, that maybe he should have taken it slower and asked her to do something within school grounds to sort of build up to an actual date, but his mouth had started working before his mind had the chance to catch up, and he found himself doing something he wasn’t entirely confident in. Oh well, it seemed to be a growing trend around Taylor; his mouth did things before his mind could stop him. “Would you like to pick the place?” he asked. “We can meet in the front entrance, or I can escort you from your quarters.” He said, trying his best to contain his excitement.
ooc ; eee short again. sorry, i'm excited to move to the next thread with them.

“Of course it wasn’t me alone,”taylor glanced at him and rolled her eyes lightly. “But I cannot help but feel like the instigator here.” she shook her head with a small grin. he had hardly been the instigator. after all it'd been her that made the first contact, purposefully trying to gain a reaction from him, and she'd gotten one. it'd been her to that had all but begged him to kiss her... her that hadn't pulled back. if anything it was her fault but ... she wasn't sorry for it. not at all. she gave him a slightly coy smile, "atticus we could discuss this all day," she half teased. she didn't wish to say 'argue' .. it was hardly an argument.
she glanced at him, waiting for his reaction to her words. “I’m glad,” as he smiled so did she. she hadn't expected him to ask her out, after all they had hardly interacted much since they'd both arrived, save for a few conversations and this evening...of course after that kiss she couldn't help but hope that this could be the start of something a little more than friendship .. if she was honest with herself she was hoping it was going to become more than just a little more than friendship. “Would you like to pick the place?” taylor looked at him thoughtfully for a moment before giving a small shake of her head and a smile, "it's not matter to me, how about you surprise me?" she said with a grin and a slight raise of one eyebrow. “We can meet in the front entrance, or I can escort you from your quarters.” again taylor had no fuss about where they met, the thing she was interested in was the actual date itself .. well she said date, she was assuming... "whichever is more convieniant for you," she said lightly, knowing that their chambers where a little way apart - if she was correct in where she had been told atticus' where.
ooc, tis cool xD muhahaha me tooo - should we wrap this one up and get the next one on ze go? : D

“Indeed we could,” he said with a light smiling. It didn’t surprise him that she felt so, as he found her so incredibly easy to talk to. So much so that he often forgot about all of his reservations around her, and just let his mouth run wild where it wanted to go. He didn’t much like it, but in reality, he had some things he would rather keep to himself, and she was bringing all of that up and giving him he feeling that he could trust her with it. It wasn’t terrible, just uncommon for him. Yes, he made friends quite easily with a large variety of people, but it usually took him quite a while to get to know someone enough to truly trust them; with Taylor it had taken less than a month it seemed. She had quite the influence over him already. “You are quite easy to speak to Mademoiselle.”
“A surprise? Hmm,” his mind was already reeling with ideas and plans, most of which she wouldn’t expect, which would be the entire point of the surprise. Maybe with all the new things she was bringing to light and taking him off guard, he would get a chance to repay the favour. The thought alone had him grinning. “I do very little things for the convenience, Mademoiselle.” And it was true; he’d rather take the hard road that came with more reward than the easy way out. “I would be much obliged to escort you from your chambers Mademoiselle Taylor,” he said, gears in his head still turning. This was certain to be interesting.
He offered her his arm once again, deciding that their fun was over and that they should continue on their way and patrol the halls. “Shall we proceed?” he smiled and leaned down to peck her quickly on the lips again, pulling away to keep it chaste.
ooc ; end it with this one?

“Indeed we could,” she smiled in response with a small nod, glad that he agreed with her. “You are quite easy to speak to Mademoiselle.” she glanced toward atticus in faint surprise. "i was just thinking the same thing about you," she said lightly with a soft smile. it was true, normally she was a rather private woman, but she found herself perfectly at ease around atticus, as if she could talk to him about anything. it wasn't often taylor felt as though she didn't need to hold back around someone, but it was a pleasant surprise.
“A surprise? Hmm,” she grinned lightly and watched him thinking, already her curiosity buzzed, wanting to know what he had planned already even if he hadn't already planned it. she was already looking forward to the date and couldn't help but wish friday would come faster already. “I do very little things for the convenience, Mademoiselle.” she smiled and inclined her head slightly in a small nod in understanding. she wasn't a believer in the easy way out herself, but sometimes she didn't mind doing something that would help others out.
“I would be much obliged to escort you from your chambers Mademoiselle Taylor,” she smiled and blushed faintly but nodded, "then i shall await for your knock." she said lightly, glancing toward his offered arm and taking it without hesitation. “Shall we proceed?” she nodded once more, "indeed," she said, surprised faintly as he lent down to kiss her - to which she responded to with a light peck in return and a smile, before going to move along with him once more...
ooc, had to respond to round it off xD aaaaand scene -bows- tehehe ontoooo the date?? : D
