taylor smiled softly in response to atticus' light squeeze of her hand. she wasn't surprised that he'd noticed and understood the expression in her gaze as she looked toward him, he seemed to understand everything about her, despite the relatively short amount of time they'd known each other. perhaps funny that they had fallen so hard and fast, but taylor could and knew she never would find something to fault in the fine specimen of gentleman who seemed so keen on her, her when she didn't doubt he could have his pick of any woman. she didn't continue to question the why, she just continued to let herself feel, to let that affection for him evolve into love until there was no holding it back. he was fast becoming her everything and as much as it scared her a little, at the same time, it was so invigorating, so fresh and exciting to think of what might come from the future with him.
she linked her arms gently around his neck, trying hard not to forget the students around them and yet finding it difficult once she locked eyes with atticus, loosing herself in the depth and pure beautiful of his gaze. she didn't realise how close they were dancing, only wishing to be closer. she didn't think of the students, technically this was a break from duty - their duties were being covered, they needn't worry about them at current. she just felt that it was her and him, and that was all she needed. “Taylor,” she smiled softly and continued to gaze at him, tilting her head slightly in silent question, feeling the slightest of shivers chase down her spine at the way he almost purred her name. “I don’t mean to scare you, but I feel as though you must know...” she felt a flash of confusion for a moment and looked at him wonderingly, hoping he wouldn't hold out for long on what he wished to tell her, "yes..?" she murmured enquiringly. hoping it wasn't bad news he was about to tell her.
“I love you,” she blinked in surprise. she should have been expecting it really, but she hadn't been... which made it all the more wonderful. a wide grin spread across her face as she looked at him. “I love you very much.” a faint blush coloured her cheeks pink. she wanted to kiss him, but she was a little aware of the students around them right now. "i love you too," she said gently, still grinning softly, eyes still locked on his. "more than any man ever before. more than i could ever express..." and it was very true, though she'd loved kit those years ago it couldn't compare to what she felt for atticus now - that wasn't to say it hadn't been real, it was just that though he'd been right for her back then, atticus was right for her now. he was her one and only, her future, and she wouldn't have wanted to love anyone else.

Telling Taylor what he felt about her wasn’t like a weight off his chest, or a relief of any sort. No, instead it laid a heavier weight on his heart. What would she say? Did she feel the same way? He thought she did, but he could’ve just deluded himself into thinking so. And honestly, he wasn’t quite sure what he’d do if she didn’t love him back. If that was the case, he was fairly sure that his world would come crumbling down around him; mocking him for being so stupid to believe that heaven would send him an angel to repent for his sins. That would hurt more than anything. He was well-aware that she was far too good for him, but he could continue believing he could be a better person, be as good a person as she, or even come close to it. It was obvious to him that they were both on completely different levels. Taylor high up on a pedestal, and he as far down as laying in the dirt. Surely she couldn’t feel the same; it would be too much of a miracle. He never deserved her. The time they’d spent together was merely a coincidence. She had only agreed to visit his family with him over the break to appease him, and didn’t have any intentions of going because she knew she was far too good for him.
Now, Atticus had never been particularly insecure about anything, he was quite confident in everything he did. But having his heart laid out for Taylor to see was quite disconcerting (as if you couldn’t tell) and he worried immensely. He knew he didn’t deserve her, but did she know that? He wanted her to feel even a fraction of the love he had for her, for him, though that was highly unlikely. For a man who had never been much in tune with his emotions, he was quite positive no one had ever loved anyone as much as he loved Taylor in this moment. And that no one had ever been quite so frightened of a response as he was now. The way she reacted would either make him or break him, in quite a literal sense.
She smiled. Oh, Merlin thank you, she smiled. She smiled and his heart soared. Smiling was good right? Her smile was always good of course, but the thought that she may just be stretching her lips to soften the blow scared him. Still, if his left memory of her was her smiling at him, well he could break and still remain a happy man.
His mind hadn’t even gotten the chance to properly register her response before he was kissing her. She loved him. She loved him. She loved him. She loved him. She really, truly loved him back. Loved him more than she had any other man. Atticus was happier than he had been in a very long time, though his joy had been slowly increasing since Taylor had come to Hogwarts. He didn’t care that the students and the rest of the faculty were staring at them. He kissed long and deep, letting her feel everything he felt in that moment pour out through his lips. If one of their kisses could convey even a little of his love, he’d continue kissing her until they died, and that still wouldn’t be enough. “I understand,” he said, finally releasing her lips. “I don’t know if I could ever explain the depth of my love for you Taylor. There are no words.”

she hadn't meant to make him nervous - hadn't meant to make him wait for a resonse at all. she hadn't thought she'd hesitated at all in her response - after all, she felt no need to hesitate. there was no hesitation in the love she felt for atticus, no hesitation in saying it as he expressed his own feelings. her heart still pounded, soaring from his words which played echo's in her mind. he loved her... she had to say that though she had already enjoyed her evening with him, those words had just completed it. completed everything for taylor. ever since that fall from her broom all those years ago, where she was told she couldn't fly anymore .. she thought everything had been lost, that she could no longer have a complete life. but she was wrong, attitucs had taken that void and filled it right up - within their first meeting, and he'd only grown on her by miles with every moment they'd had together, even just a passing in the hallway. now he was professing his love to her, and suddenly she knew. she didn't need quidditch, she really could live without flying... because she had atticus. all those years, and finally the pain and the hurt and bitterness were gone. and it was all done to this wonderous man who happened to love her back.
she'd bearly gotten the words out before his lips were on her own, and she quietened instantly, forgetting everything but for the feel of his kiss, the feel of his emotions as they travelled to her through his lips. time, space, opinion, thought..all knowledge aside from the fact that he loved her, and she him.. escaped her as they kissed. she returned all his passion, all his emotions with her own, drawing right onto her tip toes to press closer to him, revelling in everything they were both feeling. she could feel the eyes of many upon them, and though perhaps she should care she didn't. they could look all they wanted but this was their moment - hers and atticus' - and by heck she was going to enjoy it whether they should or shouldn't be kissing right then.
she had no hope of breaking away, too captivated by the tidal wave of emotions, and so it was down to him as he pulled back, releasing her lips. only then did everything come flooding back -time and place and being able to remember how to breathe. but she only focused on him, and his words as he spoke.“I understand, I don’t know if I could ever explain the depth of my love for you Taylor. There are no words.” she smiled and made to quiet him with a gently press of her lips to his once more - just a soft peck before looking at him gently, affection clear in her gaze. "so don't say anything... just feel..." she spoke the words gently and accompanied them with a grin and a slight shake of her head. she knew.. she knew what he was feeling, every inch of it, and he didn't need to say anything.,.she understood and he would never have to say more than he loved her, because that was enough for her. she knew she was implying a future with him, and she had no doubt that there was one. there was nobody else she wanted to spend the rest of her days with, to have a family with, and she was so relieved that her feelings were reciprocated.

With a quick tug he pulled her securely into him, wrapping his arms around her completely, holding her close in a tight hug. She felt so small in his arms; frail and delicate even though he knew she was anything but. No one was invincible however, and in that moment he swore he was going to be the one there when she couldn’t protect herself. He’d be there whenever she needed him, even if she didn’t think she wanted him around, and the only way he’d leave, was if she asked him to. That would be a terrible moment, he realized, now that he had told her how he felt and she reciprocated. To be away from her now... well, quite honestly, he’d prefer death.
Softly, almost as if he was afraid to break her, he kissed the top of her head and tucked her under his chin, finding that she fit perfectly. Perfect was the only real word he could use to describe this situation. How he’d ever become to lucky, he’d never know. Maybe in some past life he’d saved children in a burning orphanage, or prevented a war, though those hardly seemed to equivocate having Taylor here with him. He realized how lucky he was to have her, and vowed never to take her for granted. He’d never hurt her, make her cry, or blame her for anything. She was golden in his eyes, and that was the way she was going to stay.
“Hmm... I think I will,” he affirmed with a smile. He was content with just holding her here, not worrying about going back to their table to man the doors. Just being here, with her, was quite enough.

she smiled and moved closer gladly as he tugged her gently closer, her arms wrapping more securely around his neck carefully - not wishing to choke him of course - and she make to rest her head on his chest, smiling as she felt his lips brush the top of her head, liking the way she fit so perfectly against his body, so perfectly beneath his chin. she had no doubt that they were made for each other, though she'd never really been much of a believer in fate or such, but the way she felt the universe had brought them together, that they were so perfect for each other - the others ying to their yang - it made happiness swell more than ever within her to know that atticus loved her, that he was here for her no matter what - she knew it even if he hadn't spoken those words..knew that he would within just the 'i love you'.
“Hmm... I think I will,” she smiled gently and continued to move with him, forgetting completely their table and their original duties as she swayed slowly with him, relaxing in his hold and closing her eyes gently to revel in the feel of him holding her, the feel of him so close. the feel of his love for her mixing with hers as they danced without worry into the evening..
